Kargesh sighed as he looked glumly over the railing. It still seemed such a shame they didn't put fish in the lakes of the Presidium. He had known there were no fish for a while, Commander Shepard confirmed as much, but it was still such a... disappointment. All that empty water, so useless without food in it.
Rukar nudged his elbow roughly and grumbled. "What's wrong with you?"
"Oh..nothing." He lamented, resting his chin on his forearms and watched the water slowly swirling by.
"Oh no, not this again." He dragged a hand down his massive face. "Are you ever going to let this go?"
Some distance away, they heard breaking glass and gun fire, though only Rukar took notice, and only marginally at that. Those sounds had woven themselves into the fabric of Citadel life. They hardly warranted notice anymore to most people, much less a Krogan. With a final dejected sigh, Kargesh turned from the rail, perhaps finally accepting that he'd never find a free meal in the water.
As Rukar turned to follow, something caught his eye, flitting past in the water. It was impossible. His eyes were surely playing a trick. He gripped the rail and leaned over to confirm that yes...it was a fish. Then another one and another.
"Kargesh, get back here!" He barked before he thought better of it and pointed. "Look!"
Both gasped and gawked at the sight as more and more fish swam by of all different shapes and sizes. Rukar looked around, wondering where they came from when he noticed half a dozen C-Sec cars hovering around a building not far away. As he tried to figure out where they came from, a wet ka-BUSH grabbed his attention.
Kargesh jumped the barrier and dove into the lake. His massive, thundering body startled away the exotic fish in every direction. The ones that didn't swim away were quickly gobbled up.
Rukar tried to call him out of the water, but quickly realized it was a futile effort. Kargesh's wish had finally come true and he wasn't about to put a damper on it. Instead, he leaned against the rail and laughed as his friend had the time of his life. Before long C-Sec arrived and began shouting orders that went unheeded.
As the pair of turians called for back up, he over heard one of them saying the fish much have come from the sushi restaurant that had just been attacked and a massive fishtank broken. He knew there was a logical explanation for it. Kargesh would undoubtedly be crushed when he found out where the fish really came from.
If anyone ever told him.
