Summary: Matriarch Aethyta reflects on parenthood
Word Count: 161
She couldn't think of anything harder than watching her daughter grow up from afar. It felt unfair for Benezia to take Liara, but Aethyta was old enough to know it was for the best. Raising a kid between fights was no way to live. The universe was just cruel that way, sometimes.
When the matriarchs takes her with spying on Liara on Ilium, it almost felt like a test. If it came down to it, could she do what needed to be done? She already knew the answer, and she suspected the matriarchs did as well. But she also enjoyed the assignment, the proximity it gave her to her daughter. At least she was able to exist in her orbit, even if who she was remained mystery.
Aethyta pulled from her glass as she stared at the framed picture of her child on her desk. Maybe she'd introduce herself someday, once she was done flying so high with those little wings.
