Hello! I'm a beginner writer, new to FFN! This is my first fanfiction, so I hope it turns out well. Reviews will be very helpful!
The feeling of despair was not new to Izuku Midoriya.
Ever since he was diagnosed as quirkless at the age of 4, his life seemed to turn into a downward spiral with no bottom.
He watched as his mom was embraced him in a storm of tears, repeating the words, "I'm sorry." Day after day after that, Izuku experienced relentless prejudice and bullying, ranging from strangers, to store employees, to even his best friend turned bully.
He watched on in horror as his best friend told him to jump off of the school roof.
He suffered in the hands of the sludge villain, his mouth still lingering with the rancid taste of the slime.
Now, he stood upon a rooftop, bawling his eyes out as the Number One Hero jumped away.
Even All Might didn't support his dream.
"It's okay to be realistic, Midoriya-shonen." The hero had said.
Izuku cried and cried. Was he really all alone in this? Was he really going to experience the same prejudice all his life? Simply because of an extra toe joint? As he wept, a fire lit inside of him. Sadness gave way to anger. He slammed his fist into the cement, immediately recoiling. Izuku grimaced, pulling his fist to his chest.
Anger transformed into determination.
I will become a hero. He thought. I will become a hero. I may not be the greatest one, but I will become one nonetheless!
Izuku stood up, still gripping his fist. He looked at the sunset, its rays casting a golden light on him.
He embraced the warmth, and the fire grew. With a resolute smile, he turned around and made his way to the roof exit.
That is, if his eyes didn't suddenly sear with extreme pain.
Izuku crumpled, as his eyes glowed white, shining as bright as a star. It felt like his retinas were burning away into ashes.
He screamed. This wasn't a scream of sorrow, but one of agony.
And then, he passed out.
Izuku Midoriya's body keeled over on the roof, sending him into a dreamless sleep.
Izuku Midoriya would not notice All Might's loss of the sludge villain.
He would not act without thinking, saving one Katsuki Bakugo from said sludge villain.
All Might would not intercept Izuku on the way home, and call him a hero.
All Might would not offer Izuku his quirk, or train him for the UA entrance exams.
Izuku would not get One For All.
Izuku awoke hours later, still on the rooftop.
He rubbed his eyes, then opened them, looking around at his surroundings.
And immediately shut them again. He rubbed his eyes again. As soon as he opened them and looked around, his eyes immediately watered and stung with pain, forcing them shut.
It was even weirder when Izuku closed his eyes.
What the hell... Although his eyes were closed, he could still see.
"See" was a weird way to describe it. If Izuku could give the closest description to his new vision, it would be like infrared vision. He could see the outlines of the walls of the building he was on illuminated in colors, and the outlines of the people inside it.
The brief seeing he had experienced while his eyes were open was also bizarre. It was like normal vision and this "infrared" vision combined. Normal people blended with their infrared counterparts, creating a grating image that was hard to look at.
But why? Is this his quirk? A special type of vision? It may not be a combative type quirk, but it would be great for rescuing civilians stuck in rubble, or searching for villains in the night.
Izuku's mind immediately began brainstorming methods to use his quirk. A quirk to call his own.
A chuckle rang out. "Not exactly."
Izuku spun around. Through his infrared vision, he spotted a tall man, sitting on the edge of the roof.
"W-w-who are you?" Izuku pointed with a shaky finger.
"Me?" The man pointed to himself. "I'm the guy who gave you your powers."
Izuku couldn't see his face properly, but he could feel the man's face break out into a grin.
"W-w-what?"
"Gojo Satoru, sorcerer supreme, at your service." The man performed an over-exaggerated bow.
Izuku blue-screened.
"I'm guessing you're probably thinking, 'Why is my vision like this? Who is this extremely handsome man? Why do I feel so powerful?'" The man, Gojo, seemed to float closer to Izuku, to the point where Izuku could lean forward and bump into him.
"I don't feel powerful," Izuku said. "A-and what do you mean 'gave me my powers?'"
Gojo patted his shoulder, although it felt strange. Gojo's touch was cold and breezy, in a sense, like he was a ghost passing through his body.
"Well, I'm dead, and my powers don't just go away. I didn't have any family when I died, so my powers had to search for the most suitable vessel. It's been over 200 years before my powers found a vessel. And that vessel is you!" Gojo chuckled.
Izuku blue-screened for the second time that day.
"Don't worry!" Gojo gave him a thumbs up, as if to assure him. "I'm here, and I'm all you need to master your new super awesome power! You have a strong drive, and an even greater will. Even without this awesome power you just received, I'm sure you'd become a hero either way."
Izuku's closed eyes filled with tears. Even if he didn't voice it outright, Gojo said what he never heard in his life before: that he could become a hero.
Through his tears, Izuku asked, "S-s-so you're the one who gave me this quirk?"
"Who said it was just a quirk?" Gojo replied. "Limitless and Six Eyes is much, much more than a mere collection of physical and genetic factors in your blood."
His voice took on a more serious tone.
"After all, right now, you are the most powerful being walking on this planet."
This Izuku will definitely be a lot more different than canon Izuku.
My chapters will most likely tend to be short (mainly because I have a busy life), but I will try to update often!
Please leave a review! A brand new story (my first ever one on this site) could really use some feedback!
