Let's get going for this next chapter! Let's see just how well Lee Lee did! Anyway, enjoy!
After about an hour, Lee Lee had finally completed the test and handed it over to Dexter, who was studying it with contempt and curiosity. Lee Lee sat in front of him, looking a bit nervous as Dexter's face remained neutral at all times as he looked over the test. A few 'hmms' came from his mouth as he kept looking at each test answer with a curious look on his face.
Lee Lee bit her lip, wondering just how long Dexter was going to keep her in suspense. After what seemed like an eternity, Dexter put down the test and turned to the tall girl in front of him. "I'm not going to lie to you, if this were an actual test given to you by a teacher..."
Lee Lee winced, wondering what the boy genius was going to say next.
"...at best... you'd have a B plus." Dexter smiled.
The green tutu wearing girl's eyes snapped open in shock. "Really?"
Dexter gave a slight nod as he took the test. "I'd figured you wouldn't know Einstein's theory of relativity... but you aced the math portion pretty well. So... I'm willing to admit that, maybe in your head, there's a brain in there... maybe even as big as my sister's."
"Awww..." Lee Lee giggled as she smiled. "That's sweet of you to say, Dexter."
After a moment, Dexter put the test away as he looked at Lee Lee, a serious look on his face. "Very well, since you, of Dee Dee's friends, seem to know what you're doing, I think I'll be more than willing to let you be my assistant. Saves me the trouble inserting a brain into one of my animals... or Dee Dee, at the very least."
Lee Lee squealed in excitement, causing Dexter to jump up in shock before Lee Lee reached over and gave him a tight hug. "Oh, thank you, Dexter! I promise, you won't regret having me as an assistant! If you ever need my advice, I'll be more than happy to give it. If you want help, I'm at your beck and call. If you need someone to kiss you all better, I'm all for it!"
"What was that last part?" Dexter shook his head in shock.
"What last part?" Lee Lee blushed a bit as she looked down.
Dexter raised an eyebrow as he shook his head. "Never mind. If you're going to be my assistant, you'll need to change into the proper wear."
The Japanese girl gave a smile as she said, "Say no more. Just give me some time and I'll have a new suit that's proper for lab wear."
Dexter smirked as he crossed his arms. "Well, I'm glad to see this side of you, Lee Lee. I never thought you'd be willing to take science so seriously. I thought you'd be like Dee Dee was and destroy everything you touch."
Lee Lee scoffed a bit. "Come on, Dexter, it's like you don't trust anybody in a tutu... but fine, give me about a few minutes."
"Very well... but when you get the proper wear, come back here and we'll get started on our project." Dexter crossed his arms.
"Can do. Thank you, Dexter." Lee Lee smiled as she started to run off, Dexter watching after her.
As Dexter watched Lee Lee leave, he paused as he picked up the test one more time and started to look it over, this time with a small smile on his face. "Maybe there IS hope for this one..."
Dee Dee and Mee Mee were playing marbles in Dexter's room, patiently waiting for Lee Lee to come out as they heard the bookshelf pushing itself aside. They turned to see the lab door opening as Lee Lee stepped out, taking a deep breath.
"So... how did time with your wittle boyfwiend go?" Mee Mee said rather cutely.
Lee Lee blushed furiously before crossing her arms. "If you must know, I managed to pass Dexter's test."
Dee Dee and Mee Mee's heads shook as the former's mouth dropped in shock. "Wait, what? Really?"
"Hey, just because I love hanging out with you girls, that doesn't mean I'm not entirely brainless." Lee Lee shook her head. "Besides, I read a lot of books. They're not just picture books, you know."
Dee Dee giggled a bit as she smirked. "My, my, so our little Lee Lee has learned to read novels for my little brother..."
"Can it." Lee Lee narrowed her eyes at her blonde haired friend. "And besides, we're basically the same age... in fact, I'm about a month OLDER than you!"
"We can't help it, Lee Lee." Mee Mee giggled as she put a hand around her Japanese friend. "You're the one who keeps saying Dexter's cute."
Lee Lee rolled her eyes. "Yeah, yeah, thanks for rubbing it in. Anyway, I can't play right now, I got to find some proper lab wear to help out Dexter with his projects."
Dee Dee and Mee Mee looked at each other with big smiles on their faces, with Lee Lee showing a hidden smile of her own, knowing that she had managed to goad her friends into this, but figured she'd play along. Dee Dee smiled as she said, "You know what that means..."
"MAKEOVER!" The three girls screamed in excitement as they held their arms out.
Inside Dee Dee's room, both Dee Dee and Mee Mee were standing in front of a closed closet as Lee Lee was heard inside, rummaging through various clothes. Lee Lee was heard saying, "How many different outfits did you store in here?"
"Oh, just a few back to school clothes that Mom bought. Nothing major." Dee Dee grinned as Lee Lee opened the door and stepped out.
Lee Lee was now wearing a red sweater with a white furred rim around the collar, black pants and red shoes as she started to turn herself around, showing off to the girls.
Mee Mee and Dee Dee shook her head, the latter saying, "Nah... you look like someone flaunting their wealth."
Lee Lee stepped out of the closet, wearing a black shirt with a white jacket, a pink skirt and pink sneakers, posing with a confident grin.
"Oh, knock it, girl!" Mee Mee chuckled as Dee Dee looked a little unsure.
"Eh... maybe something else." Dee Dee shook her head.
Lee Lee stepped out of the closet, wearing an all pink racing outfit, with white gloves, white go-go boots, red pants and a purple helmet with goggles.
"No way!" Mee Mee shook her head. "That's WAY too old fashioned!"
"Try something a little more... fashionable?" Dee Dee suggested with a small grin on her face.
Lee Lee came out of the closet wearing a short turquoise one-piece dress with white lacing and sunglasses as she gave a huge, sweet smile.
Mee Mee and Dee Dee looked at each other as Mee Mee said, in a rather unsure voice, "Maybe don't make yourself THAT cute?"
Lee Lee gave a frown upon hearing that.
Lee Lee was now out and wearing a brown tank top, with short khaki shorts and brown sandals as she gave a mean girl pose, doing a confident smirk.
"No way." Dee Dee shook her head. "You look like a bad girl in that outfit."
"Something else, please!" Mee Mee frowned.
Lee Lee had just came out of the closet, wearing a light green blouse, dark green pants, an apron and yellow gloves as Lee Lee gave a huge, motherly smile.
Dee Dee and Mee Mee immediately shook their heads, with Mee Mee asking, "Why do you even have your mom's CLOTHES in that closet, Dee Dee?"
"She... must have mixed up my laundry." Dee Dee chuckled nervously.
"Yeah, I don't entirely feel comfortable wearing this. I'm trying to find lab wear, not wear outfits to go to the beach, or racing or... clean! Seriously, if I showed up to Dexter's wearing THIS outfit, he would flip!" Lee Lee rolled her eyes before turning to the closet and gasping in shock. "Oooooooo... wait. I think I may have some good lab wear after all!"
Dee Dee and Mee Mee looked at each other as Lee Lee went in and was heard humming from behind as she was changing clothes. After a few minutes, the door opened as Lee Lee stepped out. "What do you think?"
Both girls gasped in shock as they examined the science dressed Lee Lee standing in front of them. Instead of her green tutu, she was wearing a green labcoat, complete with tight blue jeans, with blue gloves and some safety goggles donned upon her head. She was still wearing the green ballet shoes, but they seem to be nimble and closed-toe enough to work on walking. She gave a small smile as the girls returned them.
The three then posed happily, knowing that Lee Lee's makeover was a success. The question now was... what would Dexter think?
Dexter was busy working on another invention, wrenching a nut into another remote control when he heard his computer chiming in. "Dexter, there seems to be someone standing in front of the lab door?"
Dexter sighed. "Let her in. It's probably my new assistant."
The boy genius continued to work until he heard the footsteps. "Well, Lee Lee, are you-"
However, the minute he turned around, he stopped himself as he looked over at the girl, wearing her new outfit.
"What do you think?" Lee Lee asked as she settled her goggles atop her head. "Is this suitable for labwear?"
Dexter examined her, feeling a bit strange... but he shook it off and said, "Yeah, I... I guess you look okay. Well, whenever you're ready, I'm more than willing to get my science fair project underway."
Lee Lee grinned as she gave a giggle. "I'm ready!"
"Perfect! Stand by the button and wait until further instructions." Dexter said as Lee Lee started to walk off. Dexter paused as he couldn't help but examine Lee Lee's walking figure as he started to blush a bit... before shaking his head. "What is wrong with me? Focus on science, Dexter, focus on science..."
And that's it for this chapter! How did you guys like it? For those wondering about the dresses Lee Lee wore, they're all reference to my favorite female characters, ranging from Rhonda from Hey Arnold, Melissa from Milo Murphy's Law, Penelope Pitstop from Wacky Races/Perils of Penelope Pitstop, Leni Loud from the Loud House and Heather from Total Drama. And of course, Dexter's Mom from Dexter's Laboratory just for the joke. Hope you enjoyed those shout-outs! Next time, the events of Dexter's Assistant plays out... only this time, Lee Lee's there to help Dexter with assistance... Anyway, read, review, criticize and suggest, everyone!
