Well, I think it's been a while since I did a Loud House story, so why don't I have a little slice-of-life story featuring our favorite Loud siblings! Now, this isn't going to be a major story, so don't get your hopes up. It's just going to be a small one-shot. But I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I liked writing it! Anyway, enjoy!
An intense silence fell as someone was standing near the edge of the lane, her tongue sticking out. The brown haired teenage girl stood on her tippy toes, as if ready to throw the object in her hands. She twinkled and move by her toes a couple times... before throwing the ball.
"GAME ON, DUDES!" Lynn gave a laugh as the basketball started to bounce up and down.
Indeed, yet another crazy game day was abound as this time, Lynn had a turn with picking the games. But, rather than the usual board games, video games or even the sports she loved, she came up with the suggestion of trying out a new game, where people were free to make up anything they want as they went along, as long as they kept the ball rolling and the game going. For once, the siblings had reached quite a mutual agreement as they all agreed on what positions they wanted. And on what teams they agreed on... naturally, Lincoln and Lynn were the team leaders respectively, with Lisa, Luna and Lucy on Lincoln's team, and Luan, Lola and Lana on Lynn's team. As Lisa had set herself up in the position for goalie on Lincoln's end of the hockey net that was set up, Lana was set up to be the goalie for Lynn's side in a similar hockey net. Leni and Lily opted to sit out, this time, being the referees as each of them were wearing white bandanas on their arms.
"Yay!" Leni cheered as she held her arms up in the air. "A goal has been scored!"
Nobody bothered to correct Leni, as they were too busy focusing on the game as Lincoln, Luna and Lucy started to chase after the basketball, with Lynn, Luan and Lola following behind.
"I got it, I got it!" Lincoln called out as he grabbed a hockey stick, intending to hit the ball with it.
"Not a chance, Lincoln! This is going to me!" Lola smirked as she used a pool cue to jut Lincoln in the stomach, sending him backwards. Lola giggled as she ran over and nabbed the ball. "Got it!"
"Not for long!" Luna said as she slid over and sniped the ball from the little girl's hands as she jumped up and spiked it. "Yo, Lucy! Heads up!"
With that, Luna threw the ball directly towards the dark haired girl, who swung her bat directly at the basketball, sending it flying in the air as Lincoln and Lynn were backing up, each of them yelling, "I got it, I got it!"
"Nope!" Luan said as she jumped inbetween the two and punched the ball in the air, causing it to roll away, stopping the two catchers short.
Lynn groaned as she turned to Luan. "Why did you do that? You're on MY team!"
"Hey, I just had to get the ball 'hands'-on!" Luan chuckled as she nudged her shoulder. "Get it?"
Lynn and Lincoln looked at each other, silently agreeing that Luan's puns were just getting worse by the minute, with Leni approaching, holding Lily. "Are we having a time-out?"
"No, Leni." Lincoln sighed.
"Come on!" Lynn called as she pointed to an eastern direction. "The ball's going right near Lisa's goal!"
Over where Lisa was, the smart girl was busy concocting a small potion as she was using some dangerous chemicals as she gave a nod. "Being the goalie, it gives me an opportune time to focus on my research..."
"LISA! Ball!" Lincoln's voice called out to her.
The four year old looked up for a mere moment before shaking the chemical concoction up. Then, she spilled the contents on the floor in front of her as Lisa hummed to herself, patiently waiting as the ball bounced straight towards her... then, all of a sudden, the ground shook as the grass started to grow large enough to not only cover Lisa, but to block the ball with ease as it started to bounce away from the goal. Lincoln, noting all of it, gave a thumbs-up, calling out, "Nice save!"
Lisa could only give a thumbs-up back as Lincoln gave a small smirk. "When it comes to these types of games, ANYTHING goes."
The ball continued to bounce around as the girls that weren't the goalies or referees started to run after it, determined to catch it in order to make a goal. What would happen if they scored a goal, neither of them knew. But most of the sisters and Lincoln were rather thankful that this is one of those games where it didn't matter whether they won or lost, it would all be in the fun of the game. It wouldn't stop Lynn from doing a bit of gloating, but even they were having plenty of fun all around.
"I got it!" Lola smirked as she grabbed the ball, only for Luna to do a stage dive towards her little sister and slammed straight on the princess, causing the ball to slip off her fingers. "AH! Foul, I call foul!"
"Foul in what?" Luna smirked as she got off of Lola. "In case you forgot, this is a game where anything is possible. You just happened to be stage dived by the wrong rock and roll girl!"
Luna paused as an idea crossed her mind. "Ooo, that's not a bad idea. Maybe I can get one of the old guitars that had busted strings and use it as a club for that ball!"
Lola just rolled her eyes a bit, giving a small sigh as Luan and Lucy caught up. Lucy looked up as she pointed towards the ball. "There it is!"
The ball dropped in front of them as the four ran over to chase after it, Lincoln and Lynn soon joining in with their assorted cricket bats in hand as Lincoln ran to the ball to try to swipe at it, only for Lynn to jump on his head, slamming it down. "Good try, Stinkoln!"
Lincoln lowered his eyelids as he got up. "You know I don't like being called that!"
"Get used to it!" Lynn sang as she swung her cricket bat at the ball, sending it flying towards Leni.
Leni looked up as she casually caught it in her arms as she gave a smile. "Well, hello there!" She then looked up and yelped to see the running players approaching her. "Whoops! I think it would be safer if you left."
Leni then tossed the ball out of the path and right into Lana's hands, causing the girl to pause as she looked at it.
"Oh hey!" Lana grinned as she looked at the ball, only to notice that the area around her had gotten dark. Lana looked up as her eyes shrank. "Oh, man..."
BANG! CRASH! BOOM!
All the sisters and Lincoln dog-piled directly on Lana as the ball slipped from her fingers as it rolled towards her goal. Lincoln, noting the ball rolling into the net, gave a laugh as he got up. "Score one for team Lincoln! Good try, Synn-ker!"
Lynn looked up as she shook her head. "Oh, Lincoln, Lincoln, Lincoln. If you're going to try and give me a derogatory name, you got to try better than that."
As everyone got off of Lana, the girl in overalls gave a small laugh as she dusted herself off. "Didn't even hurt at all!"
Lana stretched her arms, only to feel a slight pain on it as she waved it around. Fortunately, the arm was just sore, not broken, as Lana had swung the arm around a few times to make sure.
As the girls took a moment to catch their breaths, Leni caught up to the others as she held Lily close. "I think it's safe to say that the winner is Lincoln. Shall we take a timeout?"
Lynn nodded as she looked around, the girl nodding. "I think we should... after all, if we're going to prepare ourselves for the next round, my team needs to go all out."
Lincoln smirked as he eyed Lynn. "Not a chance. I may not be as athletic, but I can run circles around all of you!"
"Well, duh!" Luna rolled her eyes, before pausing. "So, what should be the game plan next? Where do we take the ball?"
"Well..." Lynn paused as she examined the area. "We already took it over to the tree, tagged ourselves so we wouldn't get lost, and threw it over at Mr. Grouse's garbage bins..."
"That was a fun day!" Lana said with a big grin.
The Loud siblings paused to think as Lincoln gave a smile. "How about we expand the game a bit to say... whoever gets the ball to the mall gets ten points?"
"Ooooo, I love that idea!" Leni said, her eyes twinkling.
The other girls nodded at the idea as Lisa smirked, "Anything to get moving along..."
"In that case, time in!" Lynn smirked as she grabbed the ball and threw it to Luan, who swung and hit it as it started to bounce. "Come on, after the ball, everyone!"
The Loud siblings gave excited screams as they started to run after the ball, determined to play the game more than ever as Lincoln looked over and said, with a smirk, "The only rule in this game is that you're free to do whatever you want in this game!"
"Come on, it's going towards Maple Street!" Lola called out as the others continued to give chase, as they continued their game.
No matter what happens in Royal Woods, at least the Loud family would always have fun at any time of the year.
And that is it for this one-shot story! How did you like it? Yeah, I know that it's pretty short, but hey, this story was supposed to be a slice-of-life with the Louds playing a sort of Calvinball-esque game. Still, it's good harmless fun. But tell me what you guys think. Anyway, thank you all for reading, and have a VERY wonderful day!
