Time for the third chapter! Let's see how Melissa is doing, adjusting to her new change! Anyway, enjoy!

It was a slow process, but little by little, Melissa was starting to remember her old human life. Admittingly, she still had a few episodes of Pistachion instincts, but whenever Milo was around, she started to calm down and acted almost like her old self. True, her friends like Bradley, Amanda and Chad were having trouble adjusting to the new Melissa (even Bradley saying that 'how can I date someone who is basically an anthropomorphic nut? The genes just wouldn't mix!', with Melissa nonchalantly using her Pistachion vines to choke his neck, taking Milo and Zack to calm her down), but eventually, they just treated it like Melissa had never changed at all.

Of course, the winter was not quite as forgiving as it should be, considering that since Melissa was now part plant, she had to bundle up a lot more and always carried a portable heater with her whenever she went out in the cold weather. Fortunately, the heat from that heater always kept her warm, so she didn't usually have it on her whenever she was indoors. But like all seasons, the winter passed and spring had risen. Doofenshmirtz was still living with the Murphys, and Murphy's Law has never been more intense.

As a matter of fact, it was on one of those Murphy's Law adventures that Milo had noticed Melissa was... not acting like her usual self. They had just got off scot-free of a construction site... albeit without as much as a slight bruise from a wrecking ball and a lost tooth that was most likely going to get reattached later.

"Whew! I have to admit, it's a little trouble just to get to the music store, but it's worth the trouble." Milo said as he noted Melissa's longing look of sadness. He raised an eyebrow in confusion, before taking a look around his surroundings, seeing all the people communicating with each other, talking casually as if there were normal days. "Oh..."

He then turned to Melissa, still holding that sad look. "Uh, Melissa, are you... missing that you're a human?"

"I..." Melissa paused, before sighing. "Honestly, I'm not really sure. My mind says that I'm proud to be a Pistachion, but then I see all of these humans walking around, communicating with each other... and then I see me... and somehow, I don't feel like I fit in."

Milo gave a small, optimistic smile as he put his hand on Melissa's shoulder. "Oh, Melissa, you know I don't care what you look like..."

"I know you don't, but even now, some of my friends still see me as... well, not who you see me as." Melissa sighed sadly, before giving a smirk. "Though on the bright side, this new form actually turns off unwanted advances from certain boys trying to get with me... heh, not a chance, boys."

"But you still wish you can be de-MULCHED, right?" Milo asked.

The young Pistachion girl paused as she felt her green head. "Eh, well..."

"I know. It's tough. It took your dad quite a while to adjust to your new look, though. And he still loves you." The optimistic Murphy pointed out.

Melissa crossed her viney arms with contempt. "Oh yeah, sure, but then I look over at the pictures of you and me and I start to wonder if I'll ever be normal again..."

Milo paused as he put a hand on his chin, thinking... before snapping his fingers. "You know, Dr. D is still living with us. Maybe he can make something to get you back to normal."

Melissa bit her lip a bit, looking rather doubtful. "I don't know..."

"I know Vinnie and Dakota say that there's no way to reverse your body back to how it was, but if anyone can help you get de-MULCHed, it's him." Milo smiled as he held her hand. "What do you say? Should we at least try?"

Melissa looked over at Milo's rather adorable eyes, sparkling in the distance. Melissa lowered her eyelids. "Are you trying the Doe Eyes on me? That's my schtick!"

Milo widened them even more as Melissa rolled her red eyes. "Oh... how can I say no to you?"

"Well, Milo, Milo's plant friend, you came to the right person!" Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz grinned as he showed the two to his shed. "I figured you'd probably want to reverse the effects of the machine, so I did make something that might change how people look at modern technology..."

Melissa, still having her doubts, took her seat as Milo sat next to her. "Show us what you have."

"Oh, not to worry, I'm just about to." Doofenshmirtz grinned as he went over to a white sheet that was covering something rather large. "BEHOLD!" He then removed the sheet to reveal a large ray gun. "The Transmogrifyer-inator!"

Milo raised an eyebrow. "Why not just call it a transmogrifier?"

"What, and ruin the -inator thing I have going?" Doofenshmirtz said, looking towards Milo. "You know adding -inator to the invention I'm doing is my schtick. To call it a simple transmogrifier is just... well, anybody can say transmogrifier. Anyway, I got inspired by this cute little comic strip about a boy and his toy tiger. With the Transmogrifyer-inator, it can transform any person within eyesight to the first creature or object that comes to mind. Best part, it runs on brainwaves. Here, here, I'll demonstrate this on myself."

With that, Doofenshmirtz turned the invention on himself as he crossed his arms. "So, suppose you want to change into, let's just say, a platypus. One think of the animal..."

All of a sudden, the invention's gunpoint shot a laser right at Doofenshmirtz as he immediately transformed into a green platypus with a build of his head. Melissa and Milo winced at the look of this Doofenshmirtz-platypus hybrid as he examined his arms. "See, see, it works! Although transforming into a platypus again just brings back bad memories..."

"AGAIN?" Melissa and Milo asked as they looked at each other in confusion.

"But enough traipsing down memory lane. If you want to change back to human, just close your eyes and..." Doofenshmirtz started to say as he closed his eyes, with the laser gunpoint shooting Doofenshmirtz as the aura once again transformed him back into his regular human form.

"Never transform into a platypus ever again." Milo said in a deadpan voice.

"That image is cursed now. Cursed more than you can ever imagined!" Melissa groaned, holding her head.

Doofenshmirtz narrowed his eyes at the teenagers, before rolling his eyes. "Fine, fine. Sheesh, never demonstrate again." He shook his head and gave a cough. "Anyway, if it can transmogrify me into a platypus, then I'm sure this can de-MULCH your plant friend."

Milo gave a small smile as he turned to Melissa. "See, Melissa? We'll get you back to human form in no time."

"Right..." Melissa said, still feeling a bit unsure.

"Now, if I can just have your attention to me, and think about how you used to be as a human, I can..." Doofenshmirtz said as he was aiming the invention towards Melissa.

However, as soon as the gun's point was pointed towards the plant girl, some internal instinct kicked in as she gave a growl. "You keep that filthy thing out of my face!"

"Melissa, stop!" Milo gasped as Melissa used her plant arm to push the Transmogrifyer-inator away from her, rolling it towards the shed's wall as it got demolished in three seconds.

Doofenshmirtz could only stare at the damage with shock, before groaning. "Oh great, now I have to pay another down payment for the repairs! I'm lucky you Murphys are ri- AH!"

An angry Melissa charged right at Doofenshmirtz and slapped him across the face with her plant arm. Doofenshmirtz turned around as he narrowed his eyes at Melissa. "Oh, you're going to play rough, huh? I don't normally feel right in punching a teenage girl, but you started this battl- AH!"

This time, Melissa jumped in the air and landed right on Doofenshmirtz, digging her feet's roots right into Doofenshmirtz's body as the scientist choked a bit. Milo looked rather worried as he watched Melissa using her plant arms to slap Doofenshmirtz hard, before the man grabbed a water pistol and shot some water between the Pistachion-Melissa's eyes, causing Melissa to scream in annoyance. She growled angrily as she tightened her grip on Doofenshmirtz's neck, only for the scientist's free leg to knee her in the stomach, loosening her grip.

Milo groaned as he paced around, saying to himself, "If there's a good time for Murphy's Law to activate, now would be a great time!"

Melissa growled as Doofenshmirtz slowly backed away, shooting her with the water pistol. "St-stay back! This thing is still loaded, I kid you not! Ugh, you know, thinking about it, what this water pistol really needs is orange soda..."

"Don't you dare!" Milo growled, looking up at Doofenshmirtz.

"Kidding, just kidding!" The scientist chuckled sheepishly before tripping and falling on the transmogrifyer-inator, specifically, right on the self-destruct button. Melissa stopped in her tracks as she heard the beeping sound coming from the transmogrifyer-inator as all three turned their heads.

Doofenshmirtz gave a sigh. "I have REALLY got to stop putting self-destruct buttons on my -inators."

Melissa looked over to Milo in concern as she grabbed him. "Let's get out of dodge, Milo!"

Milo gave a small nod as they started to run out of the building, Doofenshmirtz yelling out, "CURSE YOU, MELISSA THE PISTACHION!"

KA-BOOM!

Where the shed once stood now had remains of wood raining all around a charred Doofenshmirtz, who can only blow out some smoke he accidentally inhaled from the explosion. He coughed, "Well, at least it's not-"

Rain clouds started to form, much to Doofenshmirtz's notice as he gave a small smirk. "-a kangaroo crate falling out of the sky!"

The scientist then noticed a shadow forming underneath him as the former evil scientist yelped. "DID I MENTION I LIKE DYING?"

Doofenshmirtz yelped as a crate that contained a live kangaroo landed on his body. The door opened as the kangaroo hopped out and started to roam around the city. As soon as the kangaroo was gone, Doofenshmirtz lifted the empty crate up as his mangled body started to crawl out as he gave a sigh of relief.

"Reverse psychology. Gets 'em every time..." Doofenshmirtz gave a small laugh, before giving a groan. "I-I think I need some medical assistance. Milo? Milo's plant friend? Anyone?"

And with that, this chapter is done! How did you guys like it? So much for Milo's idea, huh? Next time, we'll dive more deeply into Milo and Melissa's relationship, and her choice on whether or not she wants to stay a Pistachion. Anyway, read, review, criticize and suggest, everyone!
