And now, we come to the final chapter of the story! Anyway, enjoy!
And so, there they stood, between the doorway, staring at each other, eye to eye, face to face.
"M-milo." Melissa stuttered a bit as she tugged on her jacket's neck hole a bit.
"Melissa." Milo smiled a little as they continually looked into each other's eyes.
A long silence washed over the two young teenagers, as they were trying to find the right words to say. After a while, Milo was the first person to break the ice. "Melissa, I want to say something to-"
"Before you say anything else, Milo. Hear what I have to say." The Pistachion stopped Milo as she put her viney arm on Milo's mouth, shushing him. Milo obliged as he stepped aside, letting her out of the doorway as the two went over to the couch and sat down. Melissa took a deep breath as she said, "Milo, I appreciate everything you've ever done for me. And I get that you miss me being human... I bet everyone does. But, I've been thinking it over and... it may come as a complete shock to you, but... I think I'm happier with this new form."
Melissa looked at Milo, who didn't seem to react, but was listening intently to her, motioning her to continue on. The young Pistachion girl gave a nod. "Don't get me wrong, Milo. What Derek did to me was terrible, but this new form has helped me out in more ways than one. Yeah, it may come with some side effects, like a desire of wanting to rule the world with an iron fist and bouts of anger if threatened. However, with those side effects came other things that I found incredibly useful that I never would have achieved. Like I can use my arms to save your life when you lose your backpack or you forgot to pack something to save your life. As a plant, I really don't need to eat human food, but I still do anyway, if only because the part of me that's still human has a stomach. Being in the cold is a little riskier, but I've learned to bear with it, and do you know why?"
Milo raised an eyebrow as Melissa continued on, "Because I had someone with me the whole time, standing by me even when the worst situations came in. Someone who may be the unluckiest person I ever met, but even that didn't stop him from remaining sweet and optimistic. Sure, everything he may touch, he potentially destroyed, but that was what I found attractive to him..."
The boy blushed a bit as the Pistachion female gave a smirk. "Yes, Milo, I'm talking about you. I know this is going to sound strange, but being a Pistachion has been more comfortable for me, and while I will miss being human, being a Pistachion has its quirks... like you and Murphy's Law in a way."
"Wow..." Milo said, rather speechless as Melissa shut her mouth. "I have to admit, Melissa, that is very well passionate for you."
"I tend to be." Melissa smirked.
"Well... if you say you want to be a Pistachion, then I won't stop you from that." Milo said with a smile as Melissa looked up. "Because... I know how hard it is to fit in with being normal, but as I've said, normal's pretty overrated. I mean, any kid would take a bus to school. My morning, life can be quite an adventure depending on Murphy's Law."
"That's true." Melissa giggled.
"But even with that, somebody stood by my side the whole time, having confidence in my skills of making it to school on time, even with Murphy's Law trying to put me down, all the runaway trucks, the fires, the city falling apart... I won't lie, the world being like that, especially when you're a Murphy, can be pretty scary. But I had family on my side who understands why Murphy's Law is what it is, and I have some very great friends that understand why Murphy's Law can be quite a condition. But the one who understood me the most was you."
Milo grabbed Melissa's plant arm and squeezed it gently as he stared into her beautiful, Pistachion eyes. "In a way, we both have our problems, but if we overcome them together, and use them as pros instead of cons, we can live life the way we want to. I think I'm beginning to understand that now. Melissa, I don't know how I never saw it before, but I guess I was blinded by my crush on Amanda to notice. Even when Amanda told me that she was in love with Zack, I was still a bit blind. But, when push comes to shove, you helped me in every step of the way, like I helped you try to get used to the human society, even with Murphy's Law in the way."
Milo smiled as he leaned closer to Melissa. "Because... Melissa, I think... no, I AM in love with you."
"Milo..." Melissa smiled. "I love you too!"
The two teenagers, Pistachion and human leaned closer as they kissed each other, love and passion was shown deep in that kiss. Somewhere off in the distance, fireworks were going off... one of which went awry and found its way to the Chase household as it destroyed the roof. Luckily, as the two were kissing, Melissa used her plant arm to reach into his backpack to pull out an umbrella and open it up as the debris fell right on the umbrella. Despite the fact that opening an umbrella in the house was bad luck, Melissa held it under her and Milo's head anyway as they continued to deeply kiss. As soon as they separated from the kiss, Milo licked his lips for a bit as he gave a small smile.
"Forgive me if I'm being a little greedy, but you taste delicious Melissa." Milo grinned.
Melissa giggled as she closed the umbrella up and put it aside. "You're a darn good kisser yourself, Murphy."
"I guess this means we're..." Milo blushed a bit, looking at Melissa's eyes.
"We are." Melissa smiled. "Boyfriend and girlfriend. Are you going to be okay having a plant girl be your girlfriend?"
"Only if you're okay with having a human boyfriend." Milo smirked. "Because right now, I just want you to be happy with who you are."
"Oh, Milo, you sweet, sweet boy!" Melissa laughed as she pulled the jinx closer to him and landed another sweet kiss on him, this time, short and simple. As soon as they parted, Melissa smiled as she said, "You know, people are going to have a lot of questions about us."
"Let them ask." Milo said as he grabbed her plant arm. "Because I'm not ashamed of going out there and telling the world that I have a Pistachion girlfriend who's very attractive!"
Melissa gave a small smirk. "You, Milo, have good taste."
Silence fell as the two looked into each other's eyes, lovingly. Melissa paused as she looked around at the mess. "You know, my dad will probably blow his top off when he notices what happened to the roof."
"Tell him the family will pay for the damage." Milo said as he pulled her up. "For now, why don't we go out, have a small adventure to ourselves, huh?"
"Let's!" Melissa said as she and Milo walked vine in hand, out the door and into the outside world, where not even Murphy's Law could damper this newfound relationship upgrade.
A few days later, over at the girl's bathroom in the school, Melissa was sitting down on a chair as Amanda was brushing Melissa's hair. Obviously, the two were discussing about their new love lifes as Amanda gave a giggle. "You know, Melissa, I always figured you and Milo would go together."
"I suppose you could say he's perfect." Melissa smirked as Amanda massaged her hair, trying to the get the curls out. "You really missed out, Amanda. Milo did have a crush on you, you know."
"Oh, I know." Amanda said. "But the way he hangs out with you, I just could tell it was meant to be from the start. But at least he managed to calm me down and help me realize that I don't HAVE to keep everything in a perfect schedule... just make sure I get some free time."
"You go girl." Melissa laughed, before smirking. "Though, Zack actually DID manage to help pick up the pieces of your life."
"Okay, okay, I admit, he did help a little bit." Amanda giggled. "What can I say? Both those boys really changed our lives for the better."
Melissa nodded, before looking towards Amanda. "Uh, Amanda, are you sure you doing my makeovers is what I usually do?"
"Of course, Melissa. Why wouldn't it be?" Amanda smirked.
The orange haired Pistachion girl paused as she tried to think, before giving a sigh. "I guess..."
"Anyway, now that you and Milo are an official couple, what do you plan to do?" Amanda asked as she massaged her scalp.
"Well, now that Milo and I are going out, I'm sure we can go to all the fancy places that we aren't banned from... and if we do get banned... I'll make sure they understand who exactly they're messing with..." Melissa smirked as her eyes grew a bit dark. "With Milo, my king, by my side, we shall rule the world with an iron fist!"
"Oh boy..." Amanda yelped upon seeing Melissa's dark eyes, before giving a grin. "Take it easy, Melissa. Once I'm done with your makeover, you'll be sure to wow your king."
Melissa's eyes calmed down a little as she looked over. "You think so?"
"Are you kidding?" Amanda laughed. "By the time I'm done with you, you're going to look marvelous."
Melissa rolled her eyes as she looked over at the clock. "Well, you better wrap up the makeover, because I'm sure Milo and Zack will be here any minute..."
Amanda looked over towards the direction of the clock and yelped as she pulled some bobby pins out of Melissa's hair, before smoothing it up. "Sorry I didn't have any time to fix the face up."
Melissa smirked. "Heh, facial or no, I'm sure Milo will still love me. Now come on, let's go wow our boyfriends."
"Truer words have never been spoken." Amanda giggled as the two started to head out of the bathroom to meet up with their respective boyfriends. How would this little double date go? Well, that would be a story best saved for another time...
But either way, even if she was a human-turned-Pistachion that got affected by the timestream, she was still Melissa, and she was proud of this fact. This is who she is.
Orange Ratchet Story
"That's All, Folks!"
An Orange-Ratchet Fanfiction
And that is that for this story! How did you guys like it? Let's move on to final thoughts, shall we?
As I mentioned before, this was a request story for a friend that actually won a Super Bowl pool a while back, and I agreed to do this five-chapter story for them as a prize. And for exploring this alternate universe idea where Melissa was a Pistachion for five chapters... I know you people wanted more, but five chapters was what I agreed on. And yeah, a Milolissa alternate universe where Melissa is a different species was quite an interesting take on an idea that some of the storyboard artists had originally planned for Season 2, before eventually going with their final decisions. I did have a little fun with these chapters, and it was nice to explore the Milo and Melissa relationship with a different angle...
Speaking of which, I'm going to address the elephant in the room that was the first chapter, in which Melissa transformed into said Pistachion herself thanks to the MULCH-er, and that was Derek's behavior towards Melissa at the start. Was it creepy? Yes. Were there moments where Derek looked like he wanted to cross the line? Yes. Was this needed? Of course. Like I said in the author's note in the first chapter, this was the idea I wanted to portray when Melissa had her last moments as a human before getting transformed. As a villain, of course Derek would have this creepy vibe, plus, the change from Melissa being human to Pistachion was what was needed for Milo to slowly bring her back to almost herself later on, helping her get back to normal society.
Aside from all that, I had a blast writing this story, and to GDog90 on Deviantart, I hope you enjoyed how I did this, and hope you're satisfied. Let me know what the rest of you guys think, though! Anyway, thank you all for reading, and have a very wonderful day!
