Kimberly slipped her key into the door of her dorm and stood back allowing her friends to enter first. The bedrooms were really the only place on the campus that the trio would be guaranteed to be undisturbed and it would negate the worry of eavesdroppers. Though she had thought she was past all of the cloak and dagger secrecy of being a Ranger, Kim knew it was important to keep her former teammates' identities quiet.

Her stomach was clenched into tight knots as the pretty brunette closed the door behind them, and stepped further into the room, turning on a small lamp that sat on her bedside table. Though she was hiding it well, the truth well the worry of what could be wrong with her ex had the young woman on edge. Anxiety and concern caused the acid in her stomach to churn angrily, the bile burning the back of her throat as she struggled to keep her cool and appear nonchalant.

"So, what's going on with Tommy, brought you guys all the way to Florida, looking for me," Asked Kim, sitting lightly on her bed, one leg hanging off with her foot flat on the floor, the other tucked under her. Her tone was conversational and sounded only mildly curious, but Billy and Aisha knew better.

They watched as Kimberly's tiny hands began to fidget with the tassels that lined the edge of her bedspread. Her dark eyes not looking up to meet their own gazes, but rather watching her own hands as they worried over the fringe in a stressed manner. Both knew she was more concerned than she was letting on, which only seemed to cement that coming to her had been the right decision.

Billy pulled over the chair from Kim's desk, as Aisha, lowered herself onto the bed beside their friend. Something odd catching the Blue Ranger's eye in the corner that only added to his belief that there was something odd about this place. Something off, that he would ask about later if they had the time. There were more pressing matters to attend to that moment.

For a second the two active heroes looked at each other, silently debating who would start. Blue eyes met brown in a wordless battle neither really wanting to be the one to break the news. Eventually Aisha gave in, sighed and turned her attention fully to the past Pink Ranger, "Tommy's been put under a spell by the Poisoned Apple from Snow White… He fell into eternal sleep. Even killing the monster didn't wake him up."

Kimberly tipped her head to the side, looking up at her friend through her long dark lashes. A look of confusion playing on her pretty features, "So what does that have to do with me,"

They couldn't have come all that way just to tell her that Tommy was under a spell… Her former flame had been beat up, spelled, attacked and taken hostage more times than she could count when they were together. She didn't assume it had stopped when she went away. This time had to be special for some reason.

"We think he needs a true love's kiss to wake him," Aisha explained, patting her friend lightly on the hand.

"So have Katherine, kiss him and move on to the next of Rita and Zedd's creations," Responded Kim, trying her best to seem disinterested. She knew exactly what her friends were getting at, they were implying that she needed to return to Angel Grove and heal Tommy with a kiss. There was only one problem. Kimberly Hart had promised herself she would never set foot in the town where she'd grown up again. She would never see Tommy Oliver again. And her reasons why were something that even her best friends likely wouldn't understand.

"We tried that already. It didn't work. Kat isn't his true love, Kim."

"And what makes you think I am? Or that I even love him anymore for that matter? I broke up with him over a year ago,"

"Because you named your daughter, Bianca Jade, white and green, Tommy's colors," The words had fallen from Billy's lips out of nowhere. The declaration came as such a shock, that both girls looked at him with complete surprise. And while Aisha was squinting at the young man as if trying to figure out if their friend was losing his mind, Kimberly was just wondering how he'd known.

Kim drew a sharp breath at this statement, as though she had been punched. This wasn't a topic she had wanted to approach, but there it was. Her old friend had figured out the mystery, "I wanted her to have something of her father's, other than his amazing eyes," She exhaled feeling almost relieved to have the truth out in the open, "How did you know Billy,"

With a gesture of his hand Billy indicated the bassinet that was tucked into a darkened corner of the room. He had noticed it when they entered but hadn't mentioned it until then, wondering if Kim would bring it up. It was clear now she had had no intention of it, "And the name plaque outside of the door, says Kimberly Ann and Bianca Jade Hart… But you clearly don't have a roommate in here that you just happen to share a surname with. This isn't a gymnastics training facility is it,"

Kimberly should have realized that Billy would figure out her secret of at least parts of it as soon as she brought him back to her room. The boy had a keen eye and paid attention to detail better than anyone. Maybe deep down she had known he would. Perhaps a piece of her even wanted him to. Keeping things from her friends for the past 18 months had been difficult. And lonely. Sure she had made some friends since arriving in Florida, but it was nothing like the bonds that had been forged in battle beside the rest of the Rangers. She had given up all connection to her home and in a sense a part of herself.

Sighing heavily, Kim ran her fingers through her long chestnut hair, and then wiped her now sweaty palms on the knees of her jeans. She had been lying to everyone so long, she had almost forgotten what the truth of her life really was, "This is the Mother of Hope school for girls. It's a private school for teenage mothers. You can come here while pregnant and the school will help you through your pregnancy and help you with your options. If you choose adoption they will help you choose a family. And if you want to keep your baby they let you stay on campus and continue your education. We have a daycare, a medical center, everything you need…" She explained, feeling a weight lift of her small shoulders for the first time in a long time.

Biting her lip thoughtfully, Aisha studied her friend's face as the information set in, "I'm assuming that since we've never heard about this… Neither has Tommy.. What happened to Gunther Shmidt, was that a cover up for all this,"

Swallowing hard, Kim shook her head in reply, "No, not originally anyway. I did come out here to train for the Pan Global games. I didn't even know I was pregnant for the first few months I was here. My period has always been off due to gymnastics and the stress of being a Ranger… It wasn't until I started getting incredibly nauseous and dizzy with bad headaches that Coach Shmidt sent me to a doctor. When he found out what was wrong with me, he dropped me from his roster immediately,"

"So why didn't you just come home,"

For the petite brunette the answer to that was easy, "Tommy,"

Though Billy was likely the most intelligent person she had ever met, the boy didn't seem to be able to get his mind around that answer. Crinkling his brow, "He does have the right to know if he's a father," As a male he couldn't imagine ever being in Kimberly's shoes, but he could picture being in Tommy's. Billy sure as hell would want to be informed if he had a progeny.

Kimberly had expected that response from one of her friends. That had been the main reason she had never told anyone from Angel Grove about the baby and why she had gone through such elaborate measures to protect that secret, "Maybe he does… But I didn't have the right to tell him. You know Tommy, he's so loyal and kind he would have dropped everything to try to take care of us Bianca and me. But how fair would that have been to him? To give up school, martial arts, football… And you guys need him. Tommy Oliver, is meant to lead the Power Rangers,"

Kim had willingly given up her life in Angel Grove to move to Florida and train. She had said goodbye to her friends, her school and her role as a superhero to follow her dreams. And when that had fallen through, she had been given an even greater opportunity, the chance to raise her daughter. But she couldn't in good conscience force the boy she loved to give up his goals to be a parent. It wasn't fair.

"That's why you broke up with him, isn't it," Aisha queried as the pieces finally began to fall into place in her mind.

This caused Kim to nod again, "When I told my parents I was pregnant, I was worried it might get back to someone in Angel Grove and then, Tommy. So I created a fictional boyfriend that I could blame my condition on. And I hoped if Tommy did find out about the baby he would assume she was fathered by the person I had supposedly been cheating on him with. I also knew if he thought I was happy here with another guy, he'd bow out of my life and let me be happy," It also helped her from accidentally saying anything during phone conversations if he never called her again. There was a lumping forming in her throat, and the light glimmer of tears that made her dark eyes shimmer. The emotion deep in her small voice as she admitted, "Hurting him, lying to him... It's the hardest thing I've ever done,"

The three teens sat in silence for a few moments after that. Aisha and Billy were processing all of the information. They knew just how crushed Tommy had been when Kim had dumped him. But they never really thought that she might have been doing it for a completely unselfish reason. Even if it meant taking Tommy's own choice away, she had done it in a misguided quest to let him have a normal life. Kimberly was hoping they wouldn't be too angry at her for all the lying and deceit. The road to hell was paved with the best of intention though, so she wouldn't have been surprised if they were. The reality was though, Kim was actually happy to finally share the truth with her friends. It had been so hard lying to them. It had been a twist of the gut every time she had spoken to someone from California and had to go through such subterfuge. With the yellow and blue Rangers that would no longer be necessary.

She only hoped she could trust them now that they knew, "You two have to promise not to tell Tommy when you get back," Her doe eyes were perfectly round and scared. Fearful of the fallout that could come.

"Kimberly, if you don't come back with us, there isn't going to be a Tommy, to tell."
