It was a cool summer afternoon when Naruto first met him.

He had been on his way from school when he heard a scuffle in a nearby alley.

"Freak!"

"Maybe if we punch him he'll finally say something."

"And take his wallet too. I bet it's loaded."

"Yeah, rich kids like him ought to be taught a lesson!"

Naruto's eyes narrowed as he heard the threats and immediately, he was on the scene, unable to bear the thought of someone being bullied and mugged… Not on his watch if he can help it. And when he saw just what was happening in front of him, rage bubbled at the pit of his stomach.

Five other kids were ganging up on a pale dark-eyed boy. Naruto recognized him as the quiet kid in his class. And while Naruto isn't one to pry in other's business, the fact that he knew how the dark-haired boy never bothered anyone and was being the target of these bullies enraged him even further.

"Hey! Hey!" Naruto's voice took the other kids' attention. "Leave him alone." As an orphan kid taken in by his godfather, Naruto is no stranger to being bullied and he just can't let it happen to anyone else. At least, not if he can help it.

"Oh yeah? And what are you going to do about it, huh?"

"Leave him or you'll answer to me!" Naruto's eyes burned with fiery passion as he stepped into the lion's den, the five other kids smirked as they simply looked at his approaching form. While Naruto is a known delinquent in their neighborhood, he is by no means a threatening presence. Short, thin and unimposing, no one would really view him as a threat. Yet here he stood, outnumbered by children taller and bigger than he is.

"Oh yeah? We've got you outnumbered, shrimp. You don't scare us."

"Alright, you asked for it!" And just like that a fist fight ensued in the alley. But what the kids didn't count on was how Naruto have had training in martial arts. His godfather have a dojo after all. And he was able to make short work of the other delinquents before the five decided to scamper out of the alley to lick their wounds.

When the other children have left, Naruto breathed a sigh of relief as he turned to the quiet kid.

"Well, they're gone now, they won't be bothering you any—" But as he turned, he realized that the kid he set out to save has seemingly vanished. Scratching his head, Naruto merely shrugged his shoulders and didn't think much of anything.

It's not like he helped him for thanks anyway. As long as the kid got away safely, that's all that really matters. And so Naruto dusted himself off and straightened his clothes as he made his way home.

He would not think of this incident again until a few days later when he would start receiving random gifts on his desk. They were innocuous at first. The occasional note and a simple bar of chocolate or candy.

Until they became full-blown meals that were already paid for at the cafeteria during lunch. When these meals became ramen, Naruto was especially ecstatic since the cafeteria don't usually allow this "junk food" in their menu.

"I'm telling you, man. Someone out here is looking out for me. And I kind of like it." Naruto admitted to his best friend Kiba one day, grinning from ear to ear.

"I don't know, dude. This borders stalker-ish to me. I mean how would they know what you like to eat of all things!" Kiba said as he poked at the ramen bowl in front of Naruto.

"Hey! Anyone knows how delicious ramen is. You're just jealous you can't get your own!" Naruto swatted Kiba's hand as he slurped on his bowl. Slowly, Naruto would look forward to these free meals daily.

And every time, he'd be surprised with the flavors, each day a different one. So he never feels like he's eating the same dish over and over again.

"Ugh! You'll get fat if all you eat is ramen every day, dude."

Kiba would comment, noting how aside from the ramen, the occasional sweets have become a daily occurrence too.

"Whatever, man. I'm just saying. Maybe you should get on a diet or something."

"Are you saying I'm fat?"

"No! I'm saying you might get fat. There's a difference, numbskull."

"Whatever. I'm only eating it for lunch anyway."

"Besides, aren't you curious who's been giving you all these stuff?" Kiba snatched a chocolate from Naruto's hand and ate it.

"Hey! That's mine!" Naruto glared at him. "Besides, I have no idea who they are anyway. It's no use trying to figure it out because one, it will just drive me crazy. And two, it might scare whoever it is away."

Kiba raised an eyebrow at this. But said nothing. Sometimes his friend's care-free nature just astounds him. But since they're in school, he figured they're safe anyway.

Oh how wrong he was.

A month after the gifts started, Naruto would notice a presence that follows him. He can feel it the most especially when he's alone. But whenever he turns to investigate, he finds there's no one there.

He can sense this hair-raising presence, shadows from the corner of his eyes even in broad daylight and this annoying buzzing that always follows him without fail. It was in this time that news of girls disappearing became the talk of the town.

But since Naruto's a guy, the news didn't worry him one bit. His life carried on like usual. It wasn't when he decided to take a shortcut in an alley one late afternoon when his routine would break.

"Well, well, well. Look who's here."

Naruto whirled around at the voice and saw that it was the five children he beat up a month ago. Only this time, there were 10 of them. Naruto gulped. At this number, he wouldn't be able to handle them all.

"Look who got lost in our turf."

There was a dangerous glint to their eyes as they approach the blond.

Naruto balled his hand into fist as he prepared for the worst. But just as he awaited the blow from his assailants, he found his vision enveloped by darkness.

"It's my turn to save you, Naruto. Just close your eyes." A soft buzzing tickled his ears as he was pulled into a hard yet cold chest. In instinct, Naruto closed his eyes just as the light in the alley was snuffed out; the buzzing intensify around him. And strangely enough, he felt this weird presence that's not entirely unwelcomed.

When Naruto opened enough, he saw his attackers on the ground, their eyes snapped wide open in fear, saliva frothing at their mouths.

"What the?" Naruto asked found himself asking as he found himself alone in the alley once again.

Naruto later found himself on his bed, a soft knocking on his window.

Strange… He thought. Why would anyone knock on his window? He groaned as he got up and heard that annoying buzzing of flies again.

"Naruto…" The voice was velvety… but also playful and warm… and oh so inviting. "Won't you let me in? Please let me in Naruto."

The blond frowned but in a hypnotic daze, he peeked through his window which was oddly dark. Strange, he thought. He'd normally be able to see the outside even in the night from his room.

"Please Naruto… let me in…"

Naruto didn't know what came over him but he felt as though he were in a daze. He numbly made his way to the window.

When he opened the window, a swarm of flies streamed in before it enveloped him. He felt cold lips press against his own and he closed his eyes, oddly liking the feel of those shiny, cold steely lips against his own. He grinned stupidly as he felt equally cold arms wrap around him as his vision filled with nothing but crimson red.

Naruto would not be seen again after that.

A/N: Just a little one shot that popped into my mind as I was watching lady Dimitrescu and her daughters on youtube.
