"Don't worry about it mom! We'll definitely bring touchan back." Hinata's chest welled with pride as she looked at her son with hopeful eyes. For all his faults, Boruto have become quite an admirable young man and Hinata can't help but be reminded of her husband's childhood days.
Sure her son may be a bit more spoiled and entitled than how his father used to be but the strong flames of determination behind his bright blue eyes reminded her that this boy truly is his father's son-Her and Naruto's. And that knowledge alone is enough to placate the gnawing worry at the pit of her stomach.
"Alright Boruto. We'll leave your father to you." Hinata smiled softly as a younger image of Naruto was interspersed with her son's, she's now resolved to face the aftermath of Momoshiki's attack and help the wounded- knowing that with her son and Sasuke, her husband will be returned to her.
Boruto grinned at her and Hinata's heart briefly stilled before she stared at the empty space that once held Sasuke's dark portal that would transport the rescue team to the Otsotsuki's realm.
"Alright, let's get to work on our end here so Naruto can at least return to a village that's in one piece." Hinata heard Shikamaru said and she turned to him.
"Is there anything I can help with Shikamaru?" Over the years Hinata have become less of the shy girl than she was and has blossomed into an independent and confident ninja, someone who's at par with Sakura, now in terms of skill and raw power. And that's saying a lot considering that Sakura trained under one of the Sannin while Hinata pretty much have to teach herself, her father being too busy to run the Hyuuga clan to train her full time.
"Ahh thanks for offering Hinata. I think Sakura is in need of more manpower at the stadium. There's still a lot more injured people to be tended to at the field hospital we set up there." Shikamaru shot her a grateful look before ushering his son, Shikadai to help him formulate a defense strategy in case the village comes under attack while the Hokage's away.

"I'm glad you're here Hinata-chan. We could really use your help. Can you use your Byakugan to examine this man's chakra pathways?" Sakura smiled as she tended to two more patients in the makeshift tent. Hinata merely smiled as she complied, frowning when the man's chakra networks have all closed down.
"Sakura-chan…"
Sakura turned to her as she bandaged her patient's arm. "What is it, Hinata-chan?"
"This man's chakra networks are blocked. It's like he's been struck with my clan's techniques in all his chakra points. I'm afraid there's not much we can do except wait for a few days until the chakra networks recover." Hinata blurted out, frowning as she thought about the Otsotsuki's attacks.
There's only two of them who attacked but it's almost unbelievable the amount and degree of damage they have wrought. When the Otsotsuki activated their Byakugan, Hinata then wasn't surprised that this is the aftermath of their attack. The Hyuuga had been trained for generations to take advantage of their special abilities to see the chakra networks of all living things. So to see the Otsotsuki's attacks targeting the victim's chakra pathways is to be expected.
She heard Sakura sighed.
"I guess we can say the same for most of our other patients then. They'll be bedridden for a while, then."
"But I think the damage isn't fatal, Sakura-chan. From what I can see the enemy's attack intended to incapacitate, not to kill." Hinata concluded as she too scanned the rest of the patients with her eyes.
"Well that's a relief. I was afraid we won't be able to handle all the influx of patients if the damage was more extensive. Speaking of which, you should get some rest yourself, too, Hinata. I've heard how you faced the Otsotsuki when they attempted to take Naruto away."
Hinata shook her head.
"I'm alright now, Sakura-chan. Besides, I think he's more concerned with… with taking Naruto-kun than inflicting as much damage as he could to me."
"Still, you should get some rest. There's a makeshift bed at the other tent, Hinata. Plus, we're done with most of our patients here anyway. I'll only be doing the last rounds after to check up on their progress so I think we earned ourselves a breather."
"If you say so Sakura-chan."
"Thanks for your help, Hinata. I really appreciate it."
"No problem Sakura-chan. This is our village. We've been fighting for it since we were children right?"
Sakura's smile grew wider, her emerald eyes glittering.
"I guess you're right on that one. Now you should go rest. Take this chance before another influx of patients come in for later. The search and rescue team reports that more are on their way, I'm afraid."
Hinata merely nodded her head to that as she headed to the other tent.
She didn't know how tired she really was until her head hit the pillow and she can't help but close her eyes on instinct as her temple met its soft and warm embrace; the bed while not the most comfortable was a welcome surface that hugged her tired body.

Hinata felt someone tapping her shoulder. Blearily, she opened her eyes to a grinning Sakura.
"They did it, Hinata-chan. They got Naruto-kun back. He's expecting you at his office right now. I think the Hokage's got orders for you, too."
Hinata frowned at this. It's weird how formal that sounded to her ears. Besides, she hasn't been in active duty since marrying her Naruto-kun. But her heart could not contain its joy, and she ignored that nagging feeling at the back of her mind as she quickly made her way to the Hokage tower.
"Ah… Hyuuga-sama… Uchiha-sama's been expecting you." If Hinata hadn't been so excited at the prospect of seeing Naruto again, she would have reacted violently at being called her maiden name.
"Wait… what does Sasuke-kun want with me?" Hinata asked the guard confused. Instead, she was greeted with an equally confused look.
"Uhmm… It's Lord 7th, my lady. Naruto-sama's the one who called for you."
Perturbed by this, she stepped into the Hokage's office with a sinking feeling in her gut.
She didn't know what to make of that feeling just yet but when she looked at the figure sitting on the desk, the sinking feeling became more apparent.
There sat her beloved Naruto-kun. But something's different about him. For one, Sasuke was standing guard by his side. But that wasn't what was off with this scene. It was Boruto who was trying to drag Sasuke by the arms.
"Come on, papa! I want to train already. Let's leave this stupid old man here."
"Hey!" She watched as Naruto half-heartedly glare at the other two males in the room.
"Boruto, you're papa and touchan are working. While your ninja rank have been reinstated, don't get cocky alright? You won't be allowed to train for a while."
Boruto just whined but didn't stop pulling at Sasuke's arms.
"I think it's fine, Sasuke. Hinata's here, anyway. Besides, I think he earned his time with you, don't you think? He did save us all with his new rasengan back there."
Boruto looked smug before Sasuke patted his head and resigned to Naruto's advise.
"Alright alright. Are you sure you're fine, though?"
"Ugh. For the last time, teme, I'm fine. See? Kyuubi already healed all my wounds. Now stop being a worrywart. And be sure to stop by the Police HQ, will you? I'm sure Menma will appreciate seeing his brother back in one piece. And check on Sarada and Hima-chan for me please?"
"Tsk. Very bossy. Fine. But if you're not feeling alright, don't hesitate to call Shikamaru okay?"
Naruto just grinned as Sasuke kissed his forehead. The Uchiha merely gave a small wave as Boruto dragged him out of the room.
"See you, Hinata-neechan." Boruto yelled as he pulled Sasuke out of the room. As they left their room the Hyuuga heiress could still make out Boruto's faint voice in her ears. "Oh just wait until I tell Menma-niichan how I held touchan's big rasengan on my hands. He'll be so jealous."
Hinata on the other hand was left speechless at the odd display of affection in front of her, and the strange way that Boruto addressed her did not help either. Everything feels so off, so strange and out of place.
Once Sasuke and Boruto has left the room, Hinata turned to him.
"What's going on here, Naruto-kun?" Hinata could no longer bear it. Boruto didn't even call her his mom. Confused, she wanted some answers now. Not waiting what Naruto wanted with her, she opened her mouth in a snarl.
"Is this some kind of a sick joke?" Her pale lavender eyes burning with anger, confusion and jealousy at what she just witnessed.
Naruto cocked his head to one side, which Hinata have to admit made the other man look cute and adorable but she held that thought right now. She just watched another man kissed her husband and her son not recognizing her as her mom. She won't let him charm his way out of this one.
A strange feeling was already bubbling at the pit of her stomach and whatever meekness and sense of professionality within her has left her. Her anger slowly began to build up as Naruto acted innocent in front of her.
"What do you mean?"
"That! Why did Sasuke-san kiss you! Why don't Boruto recognize me as his mom? What happened in there Naruto-kun? What happened with Otsotsuki?" Hinata seethed, she knew Naruto's not that affectionate to her but to accept affection from another man is beyond what she can handle right now.
It was Naruto's turn to frown, confusion crawling its way up to his face.
"Ehh? Why wouldn't my husband kiss me? And didn't you agree about this, Hinata-chan? I thought you're okay with the kids not knowing you're their surrogate mom?" Hinata gasped as she comprehended Naruto's words. Just what's going on here? Her eyes caught the golden Uchiha family symbol tying Naruto's Hokage robes together; adding to her confusion even more. But that wouldn't be the end to her shock, however. On the hokage's desk lies a golden name plaque with the words "Naruto Uchiha- Lord 7th Hokage".
Suddenly, Hinata felt her throat constrict, the room too suffocating as her chest felt tight for some reason. She can't breathe, she needs air. Just what's going on here?
"Hinata?" Naruto was concerned now, sensing Hinata's distress. "Is everything alright?"
Hinata shook her head violently. No, no. no. This is messed up. What happened? Why is everything upside down all of the sudden? She just woke up for goodness sake. She was Hinata Uzumaki a few moments ago. Why is the man in front of her suddenly a very different creature?
She can't take it anymore she bolted out of the office with Naruto hot on her heels.
"Hinata!"
Hinata ran home, but the home that she wasn't used to isn't there. With a heavy heart, she's starting to realize that maybe this strange new world that she found herself in isn't the same as she's used to.
Numbly, she made her way for the Hyuuga compound as she wordlessly pushed Naruto out of the way who had been following her. She doesn't want to see him right now. She needs to talk to someone, someone who can give her straight answers. If anything, her father would know the answer.
"What is going on here, father?" Hinata asked, almost to the point of hysterics after she explained the situation. The man have been silent throughout her rants. But after a brief contemplation, the man finally looked at her.
"My daughter, I think you're confused. Uchiha married Naruto-sama years ago. You were the one who offered to be their son's surrogate mom, remember? And you gave them triplets. I was against it at first. But you insisted that you want to give Naruto-kun his happiness. What's wrong, Hinata? Are you suddenly regretting your decision? I always thought it odd that you offered considering Sakura also offered."
Hinata's teary eyes widened.
"Is this real, father? This can't be real… I—I don't know what…" Hinata buried herself in her father's chest as she tried to control the surge of emotions within her. "I don't know what to believe anymore. How about Himawari? Do I even still have a daughter?"
"Hima-chan? You mean Boruto and Menma's younger triplet?" She looked up to meet her father's confused look. And that was when tears fell down her face. This is the world she's living in now. She has no one. Why? Just why is this happening to her?
"My dear, I think there may be something terribly wrong with you. We should definitely have Tsunade-sama check you out. Come."

It was night time and Naruto was leaning on the railing overlooking the village. He felt two strong arms wrap from behind him. He smiled and leaned back on that strong hard chest and let that welcoming heat surround him. He's glad that Sasuke accepted the arm transplant. Their fight with Momoshiki would have been a lot harder if the man had been handicapped. Plus, he enjoyed those two strong arms around him always and seeing the stump that had been the reminder of their gruesome battle always sent an unsettling feeling in the Jinchuuriki's stomach.
"I can hear you thinking loudly, dobe. What's up?" Naruto sighed as he whirled around and buried his face in the man's neck.
"Hinata stormed out of the office earlier. She was acting weird."
"Oh? In what way?"
"She got jealous when she saw you kiss me on the forehead that time."
"Ahhh…" Sasuke said in comprehension. "Can't really fault her for that dobe. She's been crushing on you for years."
"I guess so. That doesn't make it less concerning though."
Sasuke's hold on his waist tightened possessively. "You're mine, Hokage-sama. Don't forget it." He said as his sharingan flashed for a bit causing the hokage to snort through his nose.
"I know that, teme. I was just concerned about her. Her behavior was even weirder than normal."
It was Sasuke's turn to sigh and kissed Naruto's forehead to reassure the man in his arms. "Look, we can talk to her about it tomorrow okay? Now come home. The kids are waiting. Sarada has cooked dinner and you know she and Boruto will get mad if you're late again."
"Alright, Sasuke. Besides, I'm still tired from our fight with that Otsotsuki-bastard. You owe me a massage, teme."
The dark haired avenger just smirked and held his Naruto tighter.
"Let's just go home, dobe."
Naruto shivered as he felt the other's lips on his neck.
"Alright, already." Naruto grumbled as he tried to wrest himself out of his husband's grip. "Stupid pervert."
"Correction, you're pervert, dobe."
"You have no shame, haven't you?"
The other's smile grew wider.
"Not when it comes to you, Naruto." Then suddenly, Naruto felt himself lifted off the ground. "Sasuke, wha—?"
"Shh…" Sasuke stopped him, a playful smile still plastered on his face. "You said you're tired right, Hokage-sama? Let me carry you home."
"Gee, thanks, bastard." But Naruto's smile didn't waver as he leaned his head against Sasuke's chest. Time for them to head home already. To their children, to his family. Right where he and Sasuke belong.

A/N: Ugh sorry if that's weird haha. Had a very hectic week that zapped my concentration. But this came to me so randomly. I'm not sure if I can update my other stories for this week though. But I'm still hoping for the best. I apologize in advance.
