Inuyasha stared at his new sword in shock.
"This is mine?" He asked his father, Sessho, and Mama Inu. "Really?"
"Really." Taisho told his son. "It is made out of your fang. "It's still weak but it will do for your training..."
Training? Inuyasha lit up and jumped onto Sessho's shoulder beaming.
"I can really train now, Sessho!" he declared. "I'll become as strong as you one day! Then no mean demon will ever try to eat me again!"
Sesshomaru sighed. He'd known this was coming. His brother was obsessed with him for some reason that he couldn't figure it out. But, he would encourage the pesky little brat to train as hard as he could. To be worthy of their family and the brat's station.
Inuyasha stared at his screen that night as he lay in bed. He'd gotten a lot stronger today he could feel it and his screen told him so. He'd heard that his family's lands were being invaded and people were dying and he wanted to help. He was being told how to form a party and invite his Father, Sessho, and Mama Inu. With that, he rolled over pulled his furs over him, and went to sleep.
Sesshomaru had been doing a lot of studying in his free time trying to learn why Inuyasha was so obsessed with him and why he was having odd feelings about the boy as well. He normally didn't feel emotions or if he did he was able to hide them but he liked that Inuyasha was around him so much. He'd gotten very protective today when one of the guards had batted Inuyasha away like a flea and his brother had hit his head. He'd actually been worried about him. That had been the final clue that he needed. He now understood.
Inuyasha, his little brother, the hanyou was his mate.
Sesshomaru was not pleased with this answer but no matter where he looked the answer was the same. He was beyond annoyed. He wondered if he should keep this information to himself for the time being. He finally decided that the answer was yes. He needed to keep that information to himself. At least until Inuyasha was older and stronger and could protect himself. His parents didn't need to either. Not yet.
Inuyasha clung to Sesshomaru's tail and stared at the guard before him. It was the one that had hurt him and he didn't want hurt again. He hadn't even done anything to make the guard mad or anything. But he understood only too well why the guard had hurt him. When he'd smacked him into the tree the Guard had yelled "Filthy Hanyou." Inuyasha knew what that meant. He'd heard it all of his life.
People all over hated him just because he was a hanyou. It wasn't his fault he was a hanyou. He hadn't asked to be born like this or at all. Sometimes he wished he was never born. Then his mother would never have had to die or suffer like she had. His ears lay flat on his head as he got lost in his thoughts. The bad, dark feelings were back. He didn't like them and he hadn't felt them since he'd gotten here.
"Inuyasha?" He blinked and looked up at Sessho and grinned brightly.
"Sorry, Sessho, what did you say?" he asked, "I was lost in thoughts."
Sesshomaru nodded he'd noticed how distracted Inuyasha had been.
"Oh, and what were you thinking about?" Sesshomaru inquired.
He watched Inuyasha's ears, which had popped up again when Sesshomaru had talked to him, lay back on Inuyasha's head.
"Being a 'Filthy Hanyou'." Inuyasha answered truthfully. "The villagers used to say it to me too. Mother said that humans would never accept me and neither would demons because I was a 'filthy hanyou'. She said she wished I was never born. But she was sad at the time."
Sesshomaru wanted to go revive the woman just so that he could kill her again. How dare she something like that to his mate and brother. Sesshomaru had to remind himself that until recently he'd thought similarly about Hanyou. Inuyasha was changing him already and he wasn't sure if he liked it much. His father had always spoken so well about Izayoi, Inuyasha's mother. He had said that she was kind and gentle so why would she something so terrible to her own son? It didn't make sense.
"She is not wrong." Sesshomaru told the child. "Most of both humans and demons will hate you because you are a hanyou. They will look down on you and hate you because of it. But you, Inuyasha will train hard and get strong and powerful. So strong and powerful that they will respect you and will eventually admit that you are better than they are. Never forget that you are a Prince."
"Yes, Sessho." Inuyasha nodded a fire now burning in his eyes. "I will do my best! I will make all of them see me!"
"Good." Sesshomaru nodded. "Now, come it is time for your reading lessons."
Inuyasha kept hold of his Sessho's tail the entire way to the library where he then threw himself on Mama Inu and clung to her. He wanted to cry but he didn't because he was big demon now and big demons didn't cry. His mother had told him that a few days before she'd died.
