Callie allowed Robert to walk in and they all sat down "how did you find out about Tara?" she asked.
" I have a friend who works in social services who told me about Tara... did some digging and confirmed she is my granddaughter" said Robert.
"In order for me to help you I'm going to need the entire truth about what happened on your end regarding Tara... the good the bad the ugly" he said.
Stef turned towards Tara "can you please go upstairs please?"
"Who is this?" she asked.
Robert stood up "I am Callie's..."
Stef interrupted "he is a family friend...upstairs please."
She nodded and didn't say another word and walked upstairs.
"Why cant I tell her who I am" said Robert.
"Look the girl has been through enough confusion for the day... if you help Tara this is for her benefit if you are trying to get something out of it were not interested" said Stef.
"Look I can't stand the fact that my granddaughter was in foster care...and this happened in your care how could she have hid a pregnancy under your watch is a wonderful question I have" said Robert.
"Don't blame them I wasn't under their care I was trying to get independent living at that time" said Callie.
"You had a father you could have came to..maybe if I was involved...anyone was involved this would have never happened to her" said Robert.
"Why did you go to independent living... you got pregnant...you thought that your foster moms who you had so much faith in wouldn't be there for you that I wouldn't be there for you" said Robert.
Tears fell out of Callie's eyes "I slept with Brandon he is her father that's why I left... I knew they could get in trouble" said Callie.
"Okay Robert this doesn't sound like you are trying to help Tara...what are you getting at" said Stef.
"Well the fact that this was able to happen in your care under your watch in the first place.. I just when I found out about Tara... i thought I had a second chance" said Robert.
"A second chance at what exactly" said Brandon sitting in front of Robert.
"I just... I want to foster her or adopt her... I didn't get to be a dad to Callie I respected her choice to choose you and Lena and I want to be in my granddaughters life," said Robert.
"I think you are confused the goal is to get mine and Callie's rights reinstated we want our daughter that is the goal here...moms are fostering her and we want to be her parents the way it should be" said Brandon.
"Robert she wants us too" said Callie.
"But don't you want what's best for your daughter...isn't that what being a parent is she can go to the best schools, have the best opportunities and her being with me I can do that" said Robert.
"Yeah you know who had the best opportunities had the rich girl life and still tried to kill herself...my daughter has been through enough I'm not putting her through that" said Callie.
"If you are going to be here to be supportive the goal is to get Callie and Brandon's rights reinstated as her parents and if you don't support that you can leave" said Stef.
"If I help I want to be in her life" said Robert.
'If you help us you can be in her life...we just want to work out a way that she is back with us...whatever it takes" said Brandon.
"Okay well I can contact my lawyers and I'll cover the cost so theres no financial stress to Brandon or Callie I just want Tara to be in a good home" said Robert.
"Brandon is my best friend, between the two of us we can give a good life for her" said Callie.
It was a week later and Tara was standing in court Stef,Lena, Brandon,Calli, Mariana and Jude along with Robert were all sitting behind her.
'All rise for the honorable judge Payne."
Everyone stood up "you may be seated"
He pulled out his file "So today we are trying to sue the hospital for the illegal adoption of Tara Jacob which resulted in her being in Foster Care even though she had a loving parent who wanted her" he began.
Brandon stood up "two loving parents" he interrupted.
"So you knew about Tara when she was born?" he asked.
"No I did not...but I can assure you if I did I would have been there for Tara and her mother Callie" he replied.
"There was a restraining order many years ago before Callie was adopted against Brandon Foster correct" asked the judge.
"There was an investigation by Callie social worker and there was proof that there was no reason Callie couldn't be adopted what happened between them and what resulted Tara is over... she has been his sister and friend and nothing more sense" said Stef.
Lena stood up" Brandon and Callie and their files have nothing to do with what the hospital in question did...falsifying documents that a child was dead...illegally adopting Tara out faked Brandon and Callie's signatures at that...when Brandon didn't even know about her."
"This seems to be a complicated situation barley do we get a case where a child put in the system is wanted by both parents" said judge Payne.
Stef and Lena you as the foster parent of Tara Jacob do you believe her being with her biological parents is in the best interest for her at this time?"
"We do...we have spoken to Tara as well as Brandon and Callie and they want to be her parents and Tara wants to be with them."
"This is a rare case...I want everyone to understand this isn't gonna be just a snap of fingers she has to get to know both of you as parents and this will only work if all of you work together... its hard enough for Tara being passed from home to home, being beaten abandoned. believed that the two who loved her the most who didn't want her... she has been pretty much raising herself Brandon and Callie have to understand its not going to be a walk in the park its not going to be like raising her as a newborn."
"We understand your honor we will do whatever it takes" said Callie.
"I am releasing Tara Jacob from the fostering of Lena and Stef Foster to joint custody of Brandon Foster and Callie Adams Fosters there are conditions to this your rights are not reinstated yet our social worker will meet once a week with each parent to see how everything is going and make sure living standards are up to date and I will also order counseling twice a week for the three of you because this is going to be a huge adjustment and we want to make sure everyone involved is okay" said Judge payne.
"Tara payne is now in the joint custody of Brandon Foster and Callie Adams Foster.
Brandon and Callie ran up to Tara she put her arms around both of them as they hugged her tight Brandon reached over to Callie's hand and grabbed it and she rested it in his for a brief second and then she went and hugged everyone else.
She was so happy for the first time she would sleep peaceful tonight... Tara had a family.
