This is a one shot suggestion by Cherish Hope about Kyle and Cash being secretly together but no one knows, not even his brothers Kyle doesn't know Cash is a cop until Heath reveals he was arrested by him, shocking Kyle who instantly breaks up with him as he feels betrayed. Brothers don't mind he's gay once they find out, despite him having being secretive about it and urge Kyle to do what's best for him.

After living in the Bay for a while, Kyle had finally started feeling like he was settling into his life with his brothers. They had accepted him, and he'd put things in the past with Casey which had helped them all. He'd even met someone new and had made things official with them, not that his brothers knew that. Kyle had gotten himself a boyfriend, and he was terrified about what his brothers would think of him for it.

"How about we head into Yabbie Creek this weekend or maybe we could go into the city?" Cash suggests, from where they were standing behind the Surf Club.

"That sounds like a plan. I've managed to get the weekend off as I remembered you saying you were off. I'm fine going to either." Kyle says, leaning back against the wall.

"I'm getting the feeling that you don't remember what this weekend is." Cash smirks.

"Uh… Should I?" Kyle frowns.

"Are you being serious?" Cash laughs. "And I thought you'd be the one reminding me what is going to be happening!"

"Come on, you know I've been flat out with things recently. What've I missed?" Kyle asks.

"I'm going to see if you can remember between now and this weekend. Maybe I'll have to book something special to mark the occasion." Cash smiles, leaning in to kiss Kyle before he starts walking away.

"Hey, that's not fair! I know it's not our one year anniversary because we haven't been together that long, so what else could it be?" Kyle asks as he catches up to his boyfriend.

"You're not going to be able to get it out of me, so there's no point in trying. In the meantime, why don't we do something if you're free? Or do you have a shift you need to get to?" Cash asks.

"I'm free. It's one of my rare days off right now. What'd you want to do?" Kyle asks, knowing he was going to have to work hard to remember what was so special about this weekend before it actually arrived.

"How about…" Cash thinks to himself, his phone breaking the silence. "Sorry, I need to take this, it's work."

"Ah yes, the secret job I'm not allowed to know about. Anyone would think you're a cop." Kyle jokes.

"Ha, yeah." Cash awkwardly smiles before answering his phone, it being a shorter phone call than he was expecting. "Right, got it. I'll be there."

"You need to go?" Kyle asks, hoping they could hang out as he felt like their days off didn't match a lot anymore.

"Nope, not yet. I've got a meeting to get to, but that's not until later this afternoon. Why don't we grab some brunch or something at Angelo's or the diner?" Cash suggests.

"Maybe the diner would be better." Kyle mutters.

"Babe, when are you going to tell your brothers about us? It's been months, I thought you would have plucked up the courage by now." Cash sighs.

"So did I, but they can be scary people and I'm finally feeling like a part of their family. What if they hate me for being gay? I don't think I could go back to being who I was before moving here, it got really lonely." Kyle sighs.

"You'd still have me no matter what happens. I know I don't know your brothers that well, but if they really cared about you, they'd accept who you are." Cash says, just as Heath and Brax storm over to them.

"Hey, he's that cop who arrested me! What're you doing hanging around with him?" Heath huffs as he pulls Kyle back away from him, not in the mood for his brother being arrested as well.

"Cop?" Kyle scoffs, turning to face Cash, who looks down in guilt. "What's he talking about?"

"I was going to tell you, I just didn't know how." Cash says.

"So it's true?" Kyle mutters.

"I'm sorry."

"You know him?" Brax asks.

"Not as much as I thought I did." Kyle mutters, barging past them as he walks away.

"Kyle, let me explain!" Cash calls after him.

"There's nothing to explain. We're done, I don't want to see you again." Kyle says, glancing at his brothers, who stare at him, before he rushes to Angelo's.

Kyle had decided to hide out in Angelo's after the revelation that his boyfriend was a cop. He felt stupid for breaking up with Cash in front of his brothers. He was planning on telling them in his own way when he was ready, but now he felt like he couldn't do that, because they already knew now. He was hoping he could talk to them about it at some point so they could talk through it properly, he just hoped they'd give him that chance.

"Spoke to your cop boyfriend yet?" Brax asks as he sits down opposite Kyle, who kept his gaze down on the books.

"He's not my boyfriend." Kyle mutters, wondering where this conversation was going to go.

"Oh yeah, the now ex-boyfriend." Brax says, Kyle merely looking up at him as he expecting some sort of backlash for being a gay Braxton.

"I thought I knew him." Kyle sighs, putting pen down before leaning back in his chair. "Turns out I was fooled by him just like everyone else in my life."

"How have we fooled you?" Brax frowns.

"When you brought me back here to be part of the family when it was in fact to face trial against kidnapping Casey?"

"Well you are part of the family aren't ya?" Brax shrugs.

"That's not the point." Kyle mutters.

"As far as I see it, it's his loss. Heath thinks Cash was punching above his weight being with you anyway. He said you can do a lot better" Brax says.

"So you're not mad at me for being gay?" Kyle asks, wanting to be sure.

"Yeah, I am." Brax says, Kyle looking ashamed with himself. "Let me rephrase that. It's not the fact that you're gay, it's the fact that you felt like you had to hide it from us. We're your brothers, we don't care if your gay or straight, we care that you're happy and not being messed around by anyone."

"Well thanks, it means a lot."

"Have you always known?"

"It actually wasn't until I was about 18 that I actually realised it. I've been with one guy before, but he wasn't interested in me after a while because I'm not rich and wasn't willing to change my life around to make him happy. I thought things would be different with Cash. He made me feel different and I was happy for the first time in forever. It doesn't matter now anyway, I can't be with him after he lied to me about being a cop. What if he was just using me to get dirt on our family? I mean, he did arrest Heath knowing he was my brother." Kyle sighs.

"You'll find someone you can be happy with. And don't tell anyone I told you this, but Casey's been to a gay bar before." Brax says.

"He's not gay?" Kyle frowns, he was sure of it.

"Nah, but he didn't realise it was a gay bar until some guy tried hitting on him." Brax smirks. "He's been back once since then as well. Apparently he liked the 'atmosphere' there."

"He's never going to live that down!" Kyle laughs. "Which bar is it? Just so I can accidentally take him there one day to embarrass him."

"You know I can't do that." Brax shrugs.

"Come on! I basically told you I was gay, you have to tell me which bar it is! I could always tell Casey you told me."

"Fine, but do not involve me because he doesn't even know I know it's that bar he went to." Brax smirks.

"I promise I won't tell him you told me." Kyle says, desperately wanting to know now.

"Nah, I've changed my mind. Maybe you'll find out one day." Brax says.

"Ah, come on! I think it's the least you could do after what I've been through today."

"You really loved him, didn't you?"

"Yeah." Kyle mutters, starting to feel uncomfortable with this conversation. His brothers had only just found out he was gay, he didn't know if he was ready for them to know anymore about it, but he also knew it's the least they deserved after he lied to them about it.

"I don't want you being with him after what he's done, but it's your life. When I started dating Charlie, it was tough. She was a cop and I was a criminal, it was a risk for both of us. Things are a lot different now, so don't think you have to choose your boyfriend based on who this family is. We just want you to be happy." Brax says, never wanting one of his brothers to risk the chance of losing someone they love just so they wouldn't go against the family.

"Thanks. I do love Cash, but there's no way I can be with him after this. He used me to get to this family, and I don't want a relationship like that. Did you not go through something similar with Charlie?"

"No, we had an understanding. We loved each other too much to lose that. Don't make any decisions you'll regret."

"Me and Cash were meant to go away this weekend. He said it was for an occasion we had coming up that I should've remembered, and I did earlier. We met exactly a year ago this weekend." Kyle mutters

"A year?" Brax raises an eyebrow.

"We hadn't been together that long. I think it was coming up to four months or something that we'd actually gotten together, but it was still going to mark something special for us. We'd been through similar stuff and just had this understanding of each other. I won't get that with anyone else."

"Well there's plenty more people out there for you. Maybe you'll actually be able to find a guy that won't lie to you about who he really is, and won't use you to get to this family. You just might have to wait a while longer. Now go home or wherever and make the most of your day off." Brax says.

"No, it's okay. I'd rather just hang around here and get some stuff done. I know there were some things that needed ordering in, so I'll get that done."

"Okay, make sure you put it down as overtime. I'll be in the office if you need me." Brax says, standing up to head to the office as Kyle heads to the store room to check if there was anything else he needed to order that he might have forgotten about.

He wasn't in there checking things for long before heading back out to the bar so he could order some more things in. He was distracted for most of it, not knowing why he didn't question Cash about his job sooner considering he was being so secretive about it. He had started missing him, and the relationship they had together, and it didn't help when Cash walked up to the bar either.

"Hey, can we talk?" Cash asks.

"There's nothing to talk about." Kyle says, trying to focus on putting the order without messing it up.

"Please Kyle, I just want to explain my side of things." Cash sighs.

"Your side of things? Like how you're a cop and hid it from me? Used me to get dirt on my brothers and arrest them?"

"It's not like that. Did you actually talk to Heath about what happened down at the station after I arrested him?"

"No, why would I?" Kyle asks, not noticing Brax had walked back out from the office to get the books when he noticed the pair of them talking.

"Because it was a false arrest, well part of it was. I did catch him speeding, but instead of giving him a fine, I took him down to the station. I did that because I wanted to know more about you without making it obvious. It was going to be a surprise, but I planned a trip away for us. I thought it would give me a chance to properly explain myself, and why I had to lie about being a cop. I never wanted to hurt you like this." Cash explains.

"But you did anyway. If you told me the truth from the beginning, things could have been different."

"We would never have been together if you knew about me being a cop. Be honest with yourself, Kyle, none of this would have happened. I just want to make things right with you, tell me how to do that."

"I think you should just leave me alone. I can't trust you after this." Kyle says.

"I'm not giving up on us this easily. I made a huge mistake lying to you, just please give us another chance." Cash says, seeing the temptation in his eyes. "I love you, and I know you love me. Surely we can fix this, I can fix this?" He pleads.

"You'd have to promise not to arrest anyone in this family again, even if you're forced to by your boss." Brax says as he walks towards them, Kyle merely looking at him. "And you'd have to promise that you'd never lie to Kyle again, or hurt him. If you don't, you'll have us to deal with, and things would turn ugly."

"I'd happily promise that." Casey says before turning back to Kyle. "I really do love you and I'll promise anything in the world as long as I can still be with you."

"Then I guess we can be happy for you if you want to be with a cop." Brax says to Kyle, who took a hand through his hair.

"Fine, we can talk through things. But I'm not making any promises." Kyle says.

"It's a start." Cash smiles. "How about I shout you a drink so we can talk through things?"

"I get drinks for free."

"Just go and talk through things!" Brax groans, walking over to Kyle before shoving him around the bar. "Go be happy." He says to his brother, who sighs as he grabs two beers from the fridge before walking over to a table with Cash.

It had been a few hours since Kyle and Cash started talking through things and they had moved onto the balcony after they got more drinks from the bar. While they were out there talking, Heath and Casey came up to Angelo's after finishing their shifts and saw their brother talking with Cash, wondering what would come of it. And although Casey found out through Heath, he was still happy for Kyle that he could now be honest with himself.

"How do you think things are going out there?" Heath asks.

"I think it's going well. Kyle certainly seemed a lot happier when they came in for more beer earlier." Brax replies.

"Are you really okay with Kyle being with a cop?" Casey asks.

"Kyle was happy before knowing Cash was a cop and I think that's more important at this point. He's come too far with his sexuality, it doesn't matter that he kept it a secret, it's his choice who he's with at the end of the day. He seems happy with Cash, so we should respect whatever he chooses." Brax says.

"Well here they come." Heath mutters, noticing them walk over to the bar where they were sat.

"Here for more beers?" Brax asks.

"Nope, I think we've finished talking through things." Kyle says, and he was struggling to hide his smile.

"And things are good between you now?" Brax asks, trying to work out if that's what Kyle's smile was about.

"Yeah, we're going to give this a go despite me not being sure. I've made Cash promise not to arrest any of you, or I'm done for good. But you have to help me out here and not do anything that will get you arrested. I really want this to work." Kyle says.

"Heath, I know we haven't gotten off to the greatest of starts, but could you tell Kyle what really happened when I took you down to the station?" Cash asks him.

"You gave me a fine that could've been given when you pulled me over. I wouldn't go mentioning that again or you'll be out of Kyle's life sooner than you can say 'arrested'." Heath glares.

"That's not the only thing that happened and you know it. I took you down to the station to ask you about Kyle." Cash says.

"Oh yeah, you were asking weird things about him. I guess now I can understand that part." Heath shrugs.

"So he did take you down there to ask about me?" Kyle asks his brother.

"Yeah, he was asking about what you liked, and what you were really like. I thought he was trying to think of ways to arrest you." Heath says. "Anyway, enough about when I was arrested, what're you two going to get up to now you're basically out in the open?"

"We're going to go away for the weekend and celebrate knowing each other for a year." Cash grins, pulling Kyle close by his shoulder, leaning in to kiss him when Kyle turns away, blushing hard.

"Aw, Kylie's getting embarrassed!" Heath laughs.

"Oi, cut that out." Brax warns, knowing this would be a lot for Kyle now he was out in front of them. "Why don't you two head off. Kyle, I'm taking you off shift tomorrow cause you've done most of it today, so go make the most of it." He says, Kyle nodding with a smile.

"Can we go to the diner for lunch now?" Cash asks as him and Kyle walk towards the door.

"Yeah, okay. It's on you though." Kyle says before they eventually go out of sight.

"Least he doesn't have to lie about who he is anymore." Heath says.

"He doesn't need you making things harder for him. I know this isn't how we imagined our family growing, but if Kyle wants to marry a guy, then so be it. Our past is behind us." Brax says, none of them would have been accepting of this years ago, but they matured now.

"I know that. We're adults now, and I have a family to think about. I'm not going to ruin our family over the sake of us being stupid as kids. Kyle seems happier already." Heath says. "It's going to be weird having a cop as part of our family, but it's something we're going to have to accept. Maybe he won't be sulking around the place anymore." Heath says.

"I think this is going to be good, for all of us in a way. Yeah it's taken a while for Kyle to come out, but maybe he won't hold back anymore. Maybe it's something we could all learn from." Casey says.

"You got something to admit, Case?" Brax smirks.

"I met a girl, but it might not go anywhere." Casey says. "She lives in the city and was just passing through. But anyway, this is about Kyle and Cash."

And although he had a suspicion about what Brax was on about, he wasn't gay as well. He was happy for Kyle, they all were and they couldn't wait to see where his brother's relationship went. They could tell Cash was in it for the long haul, and Kyle would be as well, despite his doubts about Cash being a cop. Things were finally going to be great for him and their family.
