Harry and Ron were studying in the library while Hermione for the blasted book on Nicholas Fennell. Their bushy haired friend suddenly comes over with a large red book, "Of course I was looking in the wrong section! How could I be so stupid!" she slams it down Harry and Ron's textbooks. Harry quickly moves his out of the way, "I checked this out weeks ago," she sits down across from them, turning to the content tables, "a bit of light reading."

"This is… light?" Ron says, looking the big book on the table. Hermione gives him a glare, turning to a page.

"Of course, here it is," Hermione says, reading the line about the stone, "Nicholas Famel is the only known maker of the philosopher's stone."

"What?" both Ron and Harry wondered, Harry already knew about it from Snape, but pretended like he did not.

"Honestly don't you two read?" Hermione questioned, knowing the answer to that, "the philosopher's stone, it a legendary substance with astonishing powers. It transforms any medal to pure gold," that part Harry did not know yet. "And produces the elixir of life, which will make you immortal."

"Immortal?" Ron says, not believing this.

"It means you never die," Hermione explains.

"I know what it means!" Ron shouts. Harry hushed him to be quiet.

Hermione glared over at Ron before continuing on reading, "The only stone known to existence belongs to Mr. Nicholas. An Alchemist who last year celebrated his 660-year-old birthday." Ron and Harry gapped at each other. "That is what Fluffy is guarding on the third floor, that is what Professor Quirrell wants, the philosopher stone." Harry gapped at that, looking over at Ron. Ron looks from Harry to Hermione.

Harry was outside Hagrid's hut, along with Ron and Hermione, talking about the issue at hand. Professor Quirrell. Harry warned their head mistress, that Quirrell is planning to steal the stone. She had a hard time believing in a couple children and asked them to leave. Snape wants to deal with it on his own, pretending that everything is alright with the Defense the Dark Arts Teacher. When Harry can see it is tiring the Potion Master out, 'Why doesn't he just tell them?'

He knocked at Hagrid's door. The gate keeper peeked out, realizing it was Harry and his friends, "Hagrid?"

"Oh hello, sorry don't wish to be rude, but I am in no mood to entertain you today," he was about to shut the door.

"We know about the philosopher's stone!"

Hagrid peeks back out, "Oh…"

"We know that Quirrell is trying to steal it, we thought it was Snape, but he is innocent I found out."

"Of course, he is innocent. I told you three that he was innocent from the beginning," Hagrid croaks.

Harry and the gang shed their winter coats as they entered the rather warm hut. Ron and Harry sitting on Hagrid's bed while Hermione in the armchair near the fireplace. "We know that one of the Professor's wants the stone, we just don't know why?" Harry wondered, needing Hagrid's help to solve this case.

"Nonsense. I don't believe for a minute that Professor Quirrell is doing anything suspicious." If only he knew what Snape had been through because of Quirrell, getting bitten by Fluffy to stop him, 'What kind of name is that anyway? For a giant dog with three heads.' He promised Snape he would keep it to himself though, so he will just pretend he did not have prove.

"I will just say that Professor Quirrell is one of the teachers protecting the stone. Come now," Hagrid tried to shoo them away, "I am a bit preoccupied today." Ron looks over at Fang, a big black dog sitting next to him, then back at the half giant.

Harry does not believe that for a second, 'More like wanting to steal the stone,' "Wait a minute?" he exclaimed, "one of the teachers?"

"Of course!" Hermione chimes in, "there are other things guarding the stone aren't there? Spells and enchantments!" Harry made a metal note to ask Snape about that later.

"That's right." Hermione looked over at Ron, where Fang was licking his face. Ron seemed disgusted about that, moving away from the dog as he kept on sniffing him.

"Waste of a bloody time if you ask me," Hagrid says, trying to hide the evidence that he had an egg in the kettle pot, "I know I can get past Fluffy, but other than me, no other soul knows how except for me and Dumbledore alright?" There was a sudden rattle in the fireplace. Harry and his friends' looked over. Seeing something move inside it.

Hagrid grabs it with his oven gloved hands, setting it over at his table.

"Well Hagrid, what exactly is that?" Harry stammered, not knowing what it is going to do.

"That is…um—"

"I know what that is!" Ron shouts suddenly, "but Hagrid, how did you get one?" he says in a quieter tone.

"I won it of a stranger, down in the pub," the half giant exclaims proudly, happy to get a dragon egg finally, "he was happy to get rid of it, matter of fact." The egg started hatching, Harry and Ron stepped back a bit, worried on what is going to happen. It is a dragon after all. Hermione was not too keen on this either, looking a bit frightened. Suddenly the egg hatches altogether and out comes a beautiful tiny dragon. It was just breath taken for Hagrid.

"Is that…a dragon?" Hermione was bewildered by this.

"That is not just a dragon!" Ron exclaimed excitedly, "that's a little weasel ridgeback! My brother Charlie works with these."

Hagrid's eyes started welling up with tears, "Isn't he beautiful, oh bless him…look he knows his mummy!" he says with a happy smile. Hagrid reaches over to pet him, "hello Norbet," The dragon likes this attention very much.

"Norbet?" Harry wondered. Ron snorted.

"Well, he does need a name, doesn't he?" Hagrid says back. Continuing to pet Norbet. Norbet likes the petting so much, that he could not control his flames, sending a small one right onto his owner's beard. This frightened both Harry and Ron. While Hagrid tried taming the flames, "well I need to train him up a bit of course," he looked out of the window, noticing someone there, "Who is that?"

They all turned to the window, seeing a Slytherin kid with blonde hair there. Trying to hide from them.

"Malfoy," Harry says.

"Oh dear," Hagrid says back, worry clearly in voice, knowing that his precious price will be found out now, not only that, but Harry and his gang will get in serious trouble.

Harry and his friends decided to head back to the castle, talking about Hagrid and his new dragon, "Hagrid always wanted a dragon, ever since he was in his adolescence, he told me."

"That's crazy!" Ron says, "and worst Malfoy knows."

"I don't understand?" Harry wondered, "is that bad?"

Ron looks in front of him, where Malfoy and the headmistress comes to meet them. "It's bad."

"Good evening," she bowed her head.

"Nothing, I repeat. I mean nothing gives the right for students to walk the school at night," Professor McGonagall says in her strict tone, extremely disappointed with them, "therefore as punishment for your actions…fifty points will be taken away from Gryffindor."

Harry gasped at that, "Fifty?"

"Each." they all looked at each other on how insane that was. "And to ensure it doesn't happen again, all four of you will receive detention."

Malfoy thought he heard wrong, going to McGonagall, "Excuse me Professor, perhaps I heard you wrong? I thought you said…the four of us?"

McGonagall gears her head over to him, "No, you heard me correctly Mr. Malfoy. You see honorable as your intentions were. You too were out of bed, after hours." Harry grins over at Malfoy, happy for him receiving detention as well for being a snitch. "You will join your classmates in detention." Draco looks over at them, anything, but happy with that.

"Pity they let the old punishments die," Filch says, walking over to the dungeon area them, "back in my days, you would be dealing with detention by hanging by your thumbs in the dungeons," he sneered over at them, the four of them looked over at him, creeped out. "You will be serving detention with Professor Snape tonight," Ron and Hermione gapped at each other. Harry was alright with that though. realizing what area, they were at, it is by Snape's chambers, remembering on visiting him down here one time. Filch knocked on Snape's door. A few seconds past when the door opened and the Potion Professor popped his head out, "Good evening Professor," The potion's teacher had no idea why they were over here at this time at night, "Professor McGonagall send them over to you for detention, bit of a late notice, but I assumed you were still awake."

Snape looked over at his students, then back at Filch, "What is the meaning of this? Detention at this hour, with me?" he looked over at Potter and Draco. Confused on why they are serving detention together. Harry looked away, embarrassed about this.

"It was supposed to be Hagrid," Filch explained, "but there was a dragon, he was attached to it, and they gave it away, so now he is bawling his eyes out. Are you with me on this?"

Snape gapped at him, keeping his night clothes hidden behind the door. He was confused on what is going on. Wiping the sleep from his eyes. Harry realized that he was woken up, 'How rude of them to wake him up.' Snape told them to wait a moment, while he got dressed into his robes, shutting his door in their faces.

Snape was stuck, taking care of them, not knowing what is going on. Peering over at Potter and his friends, holding a lantern. The detention Filch and McGonagall recommended was going into the forest, to catch a criminal who has been known to slay unicorns in there.

"The forest?" Malfoy gulped at that, "but students aren't allowed right and there are werewolves?"

Snape rubbed his temple, "Believe me Mr. Malfoy, I am not so keen going in this place myself," giving him the creeps.

Harry looks over at his teacher, at his winter coat, and scarf, over to his eyes, "You were asleep, weren't you?"

Snape looked over at him, "Obviously." Harry felt bad that they woke him up, "Very well…" Severus stopped near the path of the Forbidden Forest, "we will split in groups here. Hermione, Draco you two will stick together," Draco gears over at Hermione, wondering why he is stuck with her, "Ron and Harry, you come with me," Ron gulps at being with the dungeon bat, least Harry was with them too, "what you do not like being with me Mr. Weasley?" he goes closer to him, "well get over it," he peers over at Harry, who smiled over at him.

Entering the forest, the group separated. Having Ron and Harry with Severus and Hermione and Draco going by themselves. Snape did tell them, if there is any sign of danger, to holler.

Harry felt cold under his uniform, the chill in the forest did not help it, seeping into his skin, 'Why did we have be outside for detention?" he geared over at Snape's warm coat, 'seems he is comfy in that?' Harry looked down at his hands, huffing on them to keep them warm. Snape noticed this, looking over, taking out his wand, making sure Ron did not see; he pointed it towards Harry, whispering a charm. Suddenly Harry felt warm and cozy. Looking over at his professor, who was looking straight. Pretending he did not do anything. Harry knew it was him though, smiling on the inside.

Ron walked closer to Harry, "Harry I don't like this at all," he whines, "what are we doing in the bloody forest?"

"What did you guys do to receive this detention?" Snape wondered, confused about the whole thing, not getting a clear answer from Filch.

"We snuck out, to head over to Hagrid and Malfoy was spying on us," Snape was surprised at that, "he told Professor McGonagall-"

"That explains why he is in detention with you," he suddenly halts, in front of them was a unicorn. Slayed on the ground. Snape walked over to it, kneeling beside the magical animal, "someone must have slayed it recently, he dips his fingers into the warm liquid, "this is the blood from the unicorn, whoever drinks it will have the gift of life, even if you are on the brink of the death," he showed the blood on his fingers to them, which instead of red, it was clear, "this will come at a terrible price, if you slay a unicorn and drink it's blood. You will have a cursed life the moment it touches your lips."

"Who would be mad enough to drink that?" Ron wondered, bewildered.

Snape stiffened, 'It can't be?' he looked around the forest.

Harry noticed something was up with their teacher, "What is it Professor?"

"We better turn in for the night," he suddenly said, if the Dark Lord were somewhere in the forest, his target would he Harry. Snape knew that monster would be alive still somehow. Harry eyed his teacher, wondering what is going on. "I will explain later," he whispered to him, "just follow me back to the castle." Getting Draco and Hermione before leaving, heading back inside the building, "everyone back to bed, that is an order."

Draco followed Snape back to the dungeon, glad that it was over with the bloody forest, letting his father know first thing in the morning, on what this school made him do.
