Inside
Each of the heroes came to a decision.
Wonder Girl's positive attitude was now gone. "This is wrong."
"We can't leave him like this," Robin agreed.
Chimera nodded. "We'll get him out of here."
Lucky hadn't moved from her spot in front of the pod, but she nodded. Robin tapped away at the computer for a few moments. The glass sides of the pod retracted into the floor and ceiling. For a moment, the clone didn't move. Then, his hand twitched, and his eyes fluttered open.
Superboy looked at Lucky before snarling and lunging at her. She was caught off guard, so the clone's arm caught her in the throat. Lucky was sent straight into the wall denting it before collapsing to the ground unconscious. Wonder Girl immediately flew in moving to restrain him.
"Hold on big guy, we're…" Wonder Girl began.
Superboy lunge tackling her to the ground before mashing his fist into her repeatedly. Robin rushed into restrain him next while Chimera quickly cycled through his options. Robin reached Superboy only to have a now unconscious Wonder Girl thrown into him.
Chimera stopped on a Transylian and slammed the plate down to change. "Frankenstrike!"
"Why are you doing this?" He asked. "We only want to help!"
The clone growled before charging. Frankenstrike planted his feet and used his electromagnetic body to stop Superboy. He then imbued his fist with electricity as they began to clash fist. Eventually, Superboy increased the strength he put behind his punches.
Frankestrike was being slowly pushed back while the lighting he generated didn't affect the clone. Superboy then lunged forward grabbing Frankestrike by the waist and throwing him into a wall. As Superboy charged him, Frankenstrike managed to punch his Omnitrix.
He changed into a Polymorph he called Goop. This allowed him to become a puddle witch Superboy punched not realizing he should attack the UFO. Because of this, it was able to slip away and summon the puddle to it forming back into a figure.
This confused the clone only for him to turn around as there was another green flash. "Time to bring you down big guy." Chimera had become a Sonorosian which he called Echo Echo, but Superboy charged him anyways. "Well, here goes nothing."
Echo Echo duplicated around Superboy and let their sound rip just as he reached the initial target. Superboy collapsed to his knees yelling as his super hearing was acting more like a detriment in the moment.
Once Echo Echo was confident Superboy could still hear him, but be incapacitated for hopefully a minute, he reformed into one. Chimera then became Frankestrike, just in case, as the clone glared up at him. He just had to hope Superboy could see a bit more reason now.
"Superboy, we don't have to do this." Frankestrike stated firmly yet gently. "I saw those Genomorphs glowing before you attacked us, so I don't think you've been in control of yourself. Problem with that control is it's limiting. The longer you're away, the less they have."
"Wha—what if…" Superboy cleared his throat as he was unused to speaking. "What if I wasn't in control?"
Frankestrike decided to approach this a little more casually. "So, the Genomorphs taught you everything you know telepathically?
"They taught me much." Superboy nodded. "I can read, write, and I know the names of things."
"Have you seen them?" Frankenstrike asked. "Have they ever actually let you see the sky, the sun, or the moon?"
"Images are implanted in my mind." Superboy looked at that ground. "I haven't actually seen them though."
"Do you know what you are?" Frankenstrike asked. "Who you are?"
Superboy stood and straightened up with pride. "I am the Superboy, a Genomorph, a clone made from the DNA of the Superman. I was made to replace him should he perish or destroy him should he turn from the light."
"To be like Superman is a great goal, but you have the right to a life of your own." Frankenstrike pleaded. "You deserve a life beyond that solar-suit, beyond your pod, and beyond Cadmus."
"I live because of Cadmus!" Superboy shouted with a twinge of doubt. "It is my home!"
"Your home is test-tube." Frankenstrike reasoned. "My friends and I can show you the moon. We can introduce you to Superman."
Superboy looked at Frankenstrike in shock. "Can you really do that?"
"My mentor is Hal Jordan, Robin's is Batman, Wonder Girl's is Wonder Woman, and Lucky Girl's is Kent Nelson." Frankenstrike replied. "They are all members of the Justice League, but even if they can't do it, you have my word that I won't rest until you meet him."
Superboy's eyes went wide as this hero's tone made him want to believe it's true.
"Help my friends and I." Frankenstrike pleaded once more. "Do this, and I swear on my life that you will meet Superman. Even if that's not enough, you are a living person. That means that you can choose your own destiny. I can't force you to do anything, but neither can they."
Those words resonated with Superboy, and he made his choice. "I choose freedom."
Frankenstrike smiled. "Thank you."
He then changed himself back to normal as they needed to devise a plan, and they may very well need whatever time he could get back. Especially since they had no idea what could be waiting for them outside those doors. At that moment, a voice ran through the downed hero's minds.
"Time runs short. You must awaken."
"You must awaken immediately!"
Wonder Girl, Robin, and Lucky Girl all jerked away and into standing positions. At first, they were disoriented before noticing and remember Superboy. All three of them immediately got into fighting stances while Superboy did the same feeling threatened.
"Everyone, calm down." Chimera got in between them. "Everything is cool now. Superboy is with us, and we're all getting out of here together. Lucky, can you create a doorway?"
At this point, Superboy hadn't made a move, so the other heroes decided to trust in Chimera.
"I can try, but I think it'll only get us so far from this room." Lucky informed. "The awful feelings I get from this place is messing with my powers."
"By this point, security is bound to be back up meaning they'll know we're escaping." Robin stated.
"At this point, I think it's our best bet." Wonder Girl stated. "Especially since anything could be beyond that door. While I'd like to fight it, I'm not feeling too great after my run in with Supes."
"Alright, since we're all in agreement, give me a second." Lucky declared.
"In the meantime, Robin set the door to open the moment we're threw Lucky' doorway." Chimera declared. "Hopefully, it'll buy us a few seconds to make our escape."
"I'm on it." Robin declared.
Outside the Room
The doors opened almost immediately as the alarms started blaring. Desmond had have thought it was more intruders if he didn't see the room was empty. This shocked both him and Guardian before the doctor screamed.
He then looked at his Genomorph on his shoulder. "I want every Genomorph in Cadmus activated immediately."
With the Heroes
The heroes were booking it down the hallway, and they could see the elevator ahead. Unfortunately, their path was blocked by a dozen G-Trolls. Behind them, hundreds of the clawed Genomorphs began awakening from stasis.
Since the G-Trolls were closest to the elevator, the group decided to go through them and ignore the smaller enemies. Chimera went XLR8 before the group rushed it. The first G-Troll tried to crush them with its massive fists, but they dodged.
Wonder Girl flew over while Robin's acrobatics, XLR8's speed, and Lucky' created platforms allowed them to get around easily enough. The only one who chose to fight was Superboy. With a feral roar, he lunged at the first G-Troll and knocked it flat on its back.
Before the clone could follow up on his offensive, another G-Troll smacked him to the floor. Thankfully, Superboy was back on his feet seconds later and slammed his attacker into the wall. To the other heroes, it looked like Superboy would rather fight than flee.
"Superboy, we need to go!" XLR8 shouted as the impacts from the clone's blows began shaking the entire sublevel, "We can't fight here!"
"You want to run!?" Superboy grabbed one of the fallen G-Trolls and threw it knocking the others down. "Now we can go!"
"Here I thought you loved to fight." Robin muttered to Wonder Girl.
Instead of waiting for Robin to hack the security systems, Superboy just ripped the doors open. He then grabbed XLR8, which the Kineceleran wasn't expecting, and jumped up the elevator shaft appearing to fly. Then, at the tenth sublevel, he began to gall.
"I… I'm falling." Superboy stated in disbelief.
XLR8 managed to slam his Omnitrix becoming Frankenstrike again. He used his electromagnetism to stick to the walls of the shaft preventing him and Superboy from plummeting. Wonder Girl and Lucky, carrying Robin on her platform, joined them.
Superboy was just confused and disappointed. "Superman can fly. Why can't I fly?"
"Don't know." Wonder Girl stated. "Still, looks like you can leap tall buildings in a single bound, so that's cool."
Despite her flying, Superboy smiled a little at that.
"Guys!" Robin pointed up at the incoming express elevator. "This'll have to be our exit!"
At least they were now on sublevel 15, so they were closer to the surface. Superboy kicked open the door, and the five dove through causing the elevator to barely miss them. XLR8 transformed back to normal. Before they could decide where to go next, swarms of Genomorphs appeared.
"Turn left, brother."
Superboy was hearing a voice in his head and chose not to question it. "Go left! Left!"
The group booked it
"Turn right."
"Right!"
The five stopped at a dead end.
"I'm not sure a dead end is where we want to be." Lucky stated.
"No, I…" Superboy scratched his head. "I don't understand."
"Don't apologize." Robin pointed at the large vent near the top of the wall. "This is perfect!"
When the Genomorphs reached the same dead end, they found nothing but the vent on the floor.
After a bit of crawling, Superboy looked behind them. "Do you hear that?"
It wasn't long before they heard dozens of smaller Genomorphs inside the vent with them.
With Desmond's Group
With every second, Desmond grew more and more annoyed. He, Guardian, and Dubbilex ran down the hallway with a squad of Genomorphs in tow. Desmond was tracking the heroes' progress on a datapad.
"Someone, Robin I'd wager, hacked our systems and deactivated internal security cameras." His face lit up as he realized something. "But he neglected the motion sensors!"
The sensors indicated that the heroes would end up in the men's restroom, so the three of them waited under a vent.
"The Genomorphs are closing in." Desmond said excitedly. "We have them cornered!"
A few seconds later, the vent popped open, but it wasn't five teenagers who flew out. It was the pursuing Genomorphs which fell on top of Desmond and the others.
Desmond angrily pushed away a Genomorph that fell on him. "He hacked the motion sensors!"
With the Heroes
"I hacked the motion sensors," Robin said as he closed his holo-computer.
Chimera gave him a high-five. "Now, that's what I'm talking about." He nodded. "Still, we got a long way to go before we're out."
Wonder Girl took the lead while Superboy brought up the rear as they took to the stairs. Several squads of Genomorphs blocked their ways, but Wonder Girl barreled through them clearing the path.
"More behind us!" Robin shouted as dozens of Genomorphs hissed and snarled.
Superboy solved that problem by stomping down on the stairs shattering them.
With Desmond's Group
Inside of the high-speed elevator, Desmond and his group prepared for the worst.
"We can cut them off on sublevel one." Guardian said.
"We'd better, or the board will have our heads." Desmond then placed his hand over his face. "My head…" Without warning, he hit the emergency stop at sublevel two. "I need to get something from Project Blockbuster." he hurried out. "I'll meet you at sublevel one!"
With the Heroes
The group arrived on sublevel one only to see their escape route was blocked by a huge door.
"Chimera, you have Big Chill." Lucky stated. "Go intangible and get help."
"That is not an option." Chimera stated firmly. "I will not abandon any of you."
As they were talking, Wonder Girl and Superboy tried to open the door, but it wasn't budging.
Robin shut down his holo-computer with a frustrated huff. "I can't hack the security on this." They then saw the incoming mob of Genomorphs, so he kicked open a side door. "This way!"
The five teens ran through only to find themselves trapped between their pursuers and a waiting mob of creatures led by Guardian. Robin drew some explosive, Chimera dialed up an alien, Lucky' hands glowed, and Superboy and Wonder Girl took up fighting stances.
If they were going to go down, they'd do it fighting. Just before the heroes made the first move, the stubby horns of the dozens of G-Gnomes present began to glow. The heroes were hit with a massive telepathic assault causing them to fall to the ground unconscious.
Superboy felt something brush against his mind, and he weakly opened his eyes to see Dubbilex standing in front of him. "Perhaps, for the sake of all Genomorphs, our brother Superboy should make up his own mind."
Superboy's eyes widened. "It was you…"
"Yes, brother." Dubbilex answered. "I started the fire and lured your new friends into Cadmus. While I must admit that one of them overcoming you was a shock, I still woke the others when you seemed to have made a choice."
"You also guided me." Superboy stated. "Why?"
"Because you are our hope." Dubbilex gestured to the other Genomorphs, who seemed to be waiting for something. "You will blaze a trail for all our brothers and showing us the way to freedom."
Guardian, who had also been incapacitated by the G-Gnome on his shoulder, shook his head when the little creature hopped away. "What the… what's going on?"
On the ground, Chimera, Robin, Wonder Girl, and Lucky began to regain consciousness.
"Is this a good thing or a bad thing?" Robin looked at Superboy. "Please say it's a good thing."
Superboy stood up before glancing at the other heroes. He believed Chimera's words back in that room. Then, they'd all risked everything to get him out. He couldn't do less for them, and he certainly couldn't do that as a slave to Cadmus.
"I… choose… freedom."
Dubbilex nodded while the other Genomorphs made various sounds of approval.
The young heroes stood back up, while Guardian still looked confused. "Feels like a fog… lifting from my mind."
"Are you alright?" Lucky asked concerned.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Guardian shook her head. "I'm sorry. Just go, and I'll deal with Desmond."
"I think not." A small knot of Genomorphs parted in fear of the scientist, and the man held up a small vial filled with a bright blue liquid. "Project Blockbuster will give me the power to restore order to Cadmus!"
Before anyone could stop him, Desmond drank the contents of the vial, and Guardian backed up to the young heroes standing before them protectively. Almost immediately, Desmond began to change. His muscles bulged to the point that most of his clothes practically exploded.
Then, he began to grow to nearly ten feet tall. His eyes turned black with red pupils while his skin fell away, save for a few patches that remained on his face, revealing a gray hide. With an animalistic roar, Desmond ceased to be. He was Blockbuster now.
"Get back!" Guardian shouted.
She charged but Blockbuster merely backhanded her into a wall knocking the hero out. Superboy tried his hand next and was able to land a few hits. While they did some damage, Blockbuster was more than tough enough to take it.
Not only that, but he was also able to dish it out. One blow knocked Superboy back, and when the clone jumped at the monster, Blockbuster countered by tackling him straight through to the ground floor of Cadmus.
"Well, that's one way to bust through the ceiling." Robin stated before using a grapple gun to climb through the new hole.
Lucky created a platform she used to raise herself and Chimera up to the ground floor while Wonder Girl flew up behind them. When they reached the fight, they found Superboy and Blockbuster still slugging it out. The monster got an advantage when he grabbed Superboy's leg.
He hurled him at the other heroes. Wonder Girl stepped forward and managed to catch the thrown hero sending her skidding back but still standing. Lucky and Robin ran back to help them while Chimera dialed up an alien. This time, there was plenty of room for a Vaxasaurian
He slammed the face plate down transforming. "Humungousaur!"
Blockbuster only roared before charging in, so the Vaxasaurian moved to meet him head on. They each threw a punch, but Humungousaur was able to tank it before punching Blockbuster clear into the wall. That didn't put the monster down, and he charged the current enemy.
Humungousaur smirked as Wonder Girl and Superboy came around him striking the monster together before he could react sending it stumbling. Lucky conjured her pink energy and used it to grab at his legs pulling with all her might. Blockbuster was sent falling.
Robin lept over the fallen monster and threw several birdarangs which didn't do much, but it created an opening for Humungousaur he grabbed the monster by his foot and threw him threw a pillar. At the rate they were going, they could likely win, but Blockbuster wasn't making it easy.
Humungousaur was currently observing their surroundings and wondering how much time he had left. In the end, he reasoned it probably wasn't much considering how often he's transformed in short span of time. He decided it was time to bring everything down.
Humungousaur slammed into Blockbuster shoving him through another pillar. "Robin! Lucky! Get Wonder Girl and Superboy out! I'm finishing this fight!"
"Chimera…" Lucky tried.
"Just do it!" Humungousaur shouted.
He charged at the recovering monster and threw him threw another pillar which really started to deteriorate the place.
Robin realized what he was doing. "Lucky, Humungousaur knows what he is doing." He called out to the others. "Superboy and Wonder Girl, the place is coming down! Get out!"
The four heroes ran for the entrance as Humungousaur barely gave Blockbuster the chance to retaliate. He kept using the monster to break pillars even as the other heroes were clear. Eventually, the place really coming down, so Humungousaur grew while standing there.
Seconds Later…
The dust and debris settled allowing the four heroes, across the street, to move back in. A large portion of debris fell away revealing Humungousaur at his full 6x increased size. At that moment, the Omnitrix beeped clearly needing a recharge after how much it was used.
The Vaxasaurian decreased in size before reverting to Chimera. "I think we won."
"Was there ever any doubt?" Wonder Girl questioned. "We're all awesome in our own right."
Robin and Wonder Girl high fived, Lucky nodded approvingly, and Superboy grinned slightly before staring at the defeated Blockbuster.
Chimera approached him and patted the guy's back with a nod. "Well, it might not be Superman, but the moon is right there."
Everyone looked up at it with Superboy smiling. That soon turned to awe when he saw who was now in front of the moon flying towards them. It was Superman.
"Well, look at that." Chimera stated amazed. "Heh, can I keep a promise or what?"
Behind Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Two Green Lanterns, Captain Marvel, Martian Manhunter, Zatara, Black Canary, Flash, Aquaman, Red Tornado, Hawkman and women, Captain Atom, and Green Arrow arrived.
"Is it too late to let that ugly guy kill us?" Robin asked upon seeing the look in Batman's eyes.
No one answered as Superboy moved to meet halfway between the two groups. Upon seeing the symbol on his chest clearly, Superman and several leaguers gasped.
"Is that what I think it is?" Batman asked.
"I'm Superman's clone." Superboy announced proudly.
Superman's eyes widened, but he soon recovered as his expression became thoughtful.
Batman, on the other hand, gave the younger heroes a hard stare. "Start talking."
Later
After going over every little detail, the leaguers began talking amongst themselves to decide what would be done with the protégés. During that time, Wonder Woman caught Superboy staring at his 'father' and tapped Superman on the shoulder.
The Man of Steel glanced back at the clone before taking a deep breath and walking up to him. "I'm, uh… sorry if I seem distant." Superman began. "It's just that, I've had some bad experiences with Kryptonian clones in the past. Also, there's the surprise of seeing you…"
The only response Superboy gave was to cross his arms, so Superman tried again. "Look, would it be okay if you gave me a little time to process this? I promise we'll talk soon… I just need to get over the shock that there is a clone of me that doesn't want me dead."
The corner of Superboy's lip twitched at Superman's attempt at humor. "I can live with that."
Superman seemed to struggle with himself for a moment before leaning in and whispering, "Call me Clark."
Superboy's eyes widened as Superman flew off to bring Blockbuster to a secure prison. They had just met, and Superman was willing to tell him at least part of his secret identity. May not have been exactly what he wanted, but he did realize this meeting could have been much worse.
"Judging by your expression, it at least seems like a decent start." Chimera stated while playfully punching the clone's arm.
Batman, joined by Hal and Wonder Woman, approached the group. "Cadmus will be investigated, all fifty-two sublevels, but let's make one thing clear…"
"You should have called!" Wonder Woman interrupted sternly. "The five of you were in serious danger even if you have the Omnitrix wielder with you or not."
"End results aside." Batman had held up a hand to calm her. "We are not happy. You hacked Justice League systems, disobeyed orders, and endangered your lives. You will not be doing this again."
The five teenagers looked at each other for a moment before Chimera stepped forward. "Actually, yes we will."
Batman looked back at Hal who merely shrugged. "You're barking up the wrong tree. I think they should do this again."
"You can distrust me all you want Batman. You can even think we failed here tonight." Chimera stated firmly. "In the end, we did good work. The work we've been trained to do or had been doing. Without the League, we made something important."
"If this is about your treatment at the hall, the four of you…" Wonder Woman began.
"There are five of us." Wonder Girl interrupted while gesturing to Superboy. "Also, it's not."
"We're ready to use what we've been taught." Lucky declared.
"Why did you bother teaching us if you won't let us use what we've learned?" Robin asked.
"Why are we letting them tell us what to do?" Superboy stepped up next to Chimera. "It's simple. You either get on board or get out of the way."
"If you don't want us, I'm positive my grandpa can make something happen with his connections." Chimera threatened.
The other heroes joined him and Superboy as they now stood shoulder-to-shoulder. They were united ready to make good on their pair's ultimatum.
Batman's eyes narrowed in thought. "Give me four days."
Mount Justice: Four Day's Later…
In the days leading up to Batman's set time, Wonder Girl and Robin were read the riot act from their mentors. Kent, Superman, and Hal were cool about it all things considered. Ben, with Hal's permission, had invited Superboy to stay with them for the time being.
Superman had cut in inviting the clone to stay at the Fortress of Solitude until they could decide where he would stay permanently. While there, Superboy had chosen an outfit to use as a superhero: blue combat pants, boots, and a black t-shirt with the red "S-Shield" on it.
Eventually, the five young heroes were gathered at Mount Justice. It was a hollowed mountain that had once been the secret base of the Justice League. The cave was now filled with advanced technology which rivaled what was on the Watchtower.
The five teens watched various leaguers bring supplies before Batman caught their attention. "This cave was used as a sanctuary for the Justice League in its early days, but we are now repurposing it for your use. Since you are determined to fight the good fight, you'll do it here."
He gestured to two heroes behind him: a red robot with a blue cape, and a beautiful blond-haired woman. "Red Tornado has volunteered to live here and be your supervisor while Black Canary is in charge of training, and I will deploy you on missions."
"Real missions?" Robin asked skeptically.
"Yes, but covert." His mentor replied.
"The League will still handle the obvious threats." Wonder Woman stated.
"We haven't had the wool pulled over our eyes since the incident with Cadmus." Hal stated. "So, Batman wants a team that can operate on the sly. A group that can go after the smarter bad guys."
Batman nodded. "The six of you will be that team."
"Six?" Lucky asked. "Is there a member we don't know about?"
Hal tilted his head to Martian Manhunter who was entering the cave with a young, female Martian. She had shapeshifted into a near-perfect image of a teenage human girl… save for her green skin.
She wore a white shirt with a red X-shaped harness, a short blue cape, blue gloves, and blue skirt that ended just above her knees. Unlike the Manhunter, whose chosen form was bald, the female Martian had long, red hair.
"This is Martian Manhunter's niece." Batman stated. "Miss Martian."
"Hi." Miss Martian stated shyly.
Chimera approached her with his hands in his pockets. "You don't have to worry." He nodded. "We're a pretty strange group, so I think anyone is welcome. By the way, I'm Chimera, that's Wonder Girl, Lucky Girl, Robin, and Superboy."
Miss Martian smiled. "I'm honored to be welcomed aboard."
The rest of the group came up to introduce themselves though Superboy was overwhelmed.
Ben threw an arm around the big guy. "Don't be so nervous." He smiled. "I don't think Miss Martian's going to bite."
Suddenly, Miss Martian began to change. Her cape melted into her body and her shirt changed from white to black while the red harness remained.
"I like your t-shirt." Miss Martian stated.
Superboy gave a small smile. Wonder Girl playfully elbowed the clone while Robin grinned while.
Gwen stepped forward. "Today is the day."
Unknown Location
Concealed by blinding light, most of the hidden figures who had controlled Cadmus Labs were not happy. They had lost Superboy, and Guardian had taken over effectively ending its usefulness.
"Can we afford to leave Cadmus as it is?" One member asked. "What if the Justice League finds something to use against us?"
"All information on our group was wiped per security protocols." Another member replied calmly. "At best, the league might know that a group-controlled Cadmus Labs, but not who or how many people are in that group."
"What concerns me is the children." another member stated. "Chimera was bad enough alone or isolate with the Green Lantern. Now, the older heroes seem to be wising up and employing him with the other children."
"It is troubling." The group's leader said thoughtfully. "Still, it is a situation that can be played to our advantage. Even the temporary loss of the weapon may prove useful. Everyone eventually sees The Light."
Superboy: You guys can probably guess was The Receiver is. While a certain someone hasn't unlocked Kryptonian DNA, it would arguably still be in there just looked away. Even then, the device The Reciever is connected to could very well do a lot of things with DNA. all of this is to say that Superboy isn't going to be as weak as he was in canon. A small snippet would be the fact that electricity didn't really affect him like it did in canon as evidence by this chapter.
I would like to thank The One Beyond You for hashing out how Ben beats Superboy here and making me see reason on other ways he could have beaten him.
kirito21naga: I'm aware, and I honestly have nothing against them. I liked them perfectly fine... okay, Wally constantly flirting with Miss Martian the way he did was a little annoying... Still, I'd have included them, but to me they felt like the characters which could be cut in an attempt to keep the team small for this first season. That's not to say they won't possibly show up, but so many crossover stories have the exact same team.
Honestly, if you want to see them, they are still in the show or, again, in countless other stories. Again, I got nothing against those character, but some of them had to be cut for a more concise cast. Clearly, I already got Robin, Superboy, and Miss Martian. I know there were episodes dedicated to them, but those episodes can be repurposed, or new material added to compensate.
Jay(Guest): Not too sure on that.
Neon Starch: Yeah, I wanted it to hurt and not have to obvious a replacement like most aliens. I looked into the ability, so maybe I'll do something with it.
