Chapter 2: Goin' Ghost
It was the day after, at noon. Danny was taking his backpack with him. He was getting ready for his trip. His friends and sister were there with him and they were not entirely sure that this was a good idea.
"You sure about this, Danny?" Sam asks.
"The note said to go alone, and that I'd have to meet and fight Ben Tennyson of all people." Danny said.
"This bites…" Tucker said.
"I know… I was hoping Kim Possible." Danny said with a disappointed sigh.
As Sam scowled and rolled her eyes, Tucker shook his head.
"First off, I was hoping that too. Second, I mean Ben Tennyson will probably destroy you. Dude, he's got like dozens of different aliens to use!" He states.
"Yeah? But I got one consistent transformation that comes through most of the time." Danny insisted.
"You boys and your eagerness to see who wins in a fight..." Sam said, rolling her eyes again at them..
"You sure you want to do this alone?" Jazz asks.
"Someone needs to stay and keep Amity Park safe." Danny insisted.
His sister suddenly got excited about that.
"A second chance for the Ghost Getters!" Jazz went with a grin.
Sam and Tucker were annoyed by what she called them.
"Ghost Getters? Really?" Danny asked with an amused scoff.
"I never agreed to that name and nobody trademarked it!" Tucker insisted.
''I still think that it works..." Jazz insisted but the others ignored her.
"Okay… I'll be back tonight… I hope." Danny said before turning around. "Goin' Ghost!"
With the glowing rings forming around him, he was now Danny Phantom. He hovered into the air and flew off, phasing through the wall.
''I hope he'll be okay..." Sam said.
"No worries, Sam. If he can be buds with a dragon that tried to barbecue him, I'm sure it won't be too much with Ben Tennyson." Tucker assured.
"So, what should we do now, Ghost Getters?" Jazz asks enthusiastically.
Sam and Tucker groaned.
Somewhere, in another place, in another dimension.
They were beings of unique power and knowledge. Their one weakness was they spent most of their time debating.
These were the Celestialsapeins.
One of the most powerful beings in the entire universe and most tried to avoid disturbing them.
However, one person had no choice, fortunately he came with protection.
That's when a portal opened. Someone walked through, someone in a lab coat who the Celestialsapiens have warned to stay away.
That caught someone's attention.
"Time Walker! You have violated the law that you are not to-"
"Not so fast!" Paradox held up something in his hand. It was a scroll. "According to this, you can't do anything to me."
The rest of the Celestialsapiens were silent upon hearing that.
With a wave of the hand, one Celestialsapien made the scroll appear to their face. With a quick read, their eyes squinted with irritation.
''I cannot believe this..." They muttered, getting the other's attention.
"What did it say?" One Celestialsapien asked.
"It says… that we are forbidden to destroy him… and that we are to grant full amnesty… less we will suffer the consequences…" The one who read said. "And… it is not up for debate."
The Celestialsapiens did not like hearing this but the time walker ignored it as he spoke.
"Jolly good. Now… I will require you to let Bellicus and Serena know I shall be making an arrival soon…" Paradox said.
In Bellwood
It was 4 in the afternoon and Ben got out of his house.
"I'll be back." He said before closing the door.
He started walking down the street, sighing to himself.
Some afternoon. Ben thought sarcastically.
It's during these moments he realizes he doesn't really have friends outside of being a superhero. Gwen has her own friends she spends time with, something he's okay with. Kevin likes to upgrade his car. Julie was technically broken up with him and it'd be awkward to get back together just because he wants someone to hang out with. That just left him to his own devices, what little they were.
He yawned.
He felt bored and then his stomach rumbling a bit.
"I guess I'll get a smoothie." He said to himself.
It was better than doing nothing.
As he walked alone, he didn't notice a figure watching from a distance.
It was Vlad Plasmius.
"Any minute now, Daniel will be here." Vlad whispered into his earpiece.
"How do you know this?" His partner said.
"I sent a message, saying that Ben Tennyson has been hired by the Guys in White to bring him in. Daniel will think Tennyson found out his identity and sent a warning to give up or be defeated…" Vlad answered.
"Are you sure that will work?" The figure asked.
"I know for a fact this will work." Vlad assured.
"It better…" The voice said.
An hour later
Danny was miles in the sky, seeing something coming up.
A town.
"Bellwood…" Danny said. That's when his phone went off. He answered. "Hello?"
"Yo, what up D?" A familiar voice went.
"Jake?" Danny asks.
"Who else?"
"What's up?"
"Rose's flight is coming in later than I thought, so I was wonderin' if you wanna talk while I wait for her." Jake said.
"I'd love to, but I can't." Danny said apologetically.
"Ghost trouble?" Jake asks.
"No, believe it or not, I got a message to go to Bellwood and find and fight Ben Tennyson of all people." Danny explains.
"Ben Tennyson?! For real?!." Jake asks.
"Yes. Apparently, I got a message to meet and fight him, I'm just playing along." Danny answered.
"Dang. Well, if you need help, hit me up." Jake said.
"I will. Talk later." Danny said.
He hung up and kept flying.
He looked at this town from the air.
So this is Bellwood? Danny thought.
It looked like an average town but it was home to various alien attacks.
Unlike Amity Park, Bellwood became much more known the the mainstream, much like Middleton. Danny was partially jealous on this, but chose to put it aside in favor of finding who he came for.
Now, to find Tennyson. The ghost boy thought.
Finding a spot to morph, Danny walked out, trying to find a place he knew Ben Tennyson was said to hang out, to keep an eye on him until the right time to do what he needs to do.
"Jolly good…" He heard someone say.
Danny looked around, seeing no one present. He shrugged and moved along.
He had no idea someone just did something Danny would need in order for he or Ben to survive their coming battle
At Mr. Smoothy's
Ben had arrived not too long ago, ordering a few of his favorites in hope to get his mind off his troubles.
However, he is still feeling down.
"Even grape flavor doesn't do much…" He groaned.
He was about to leave and find something else to do, only to notice someone in the dumpster, the sounds of chewing being heard.
What the heck? He thought.
He went to check and saw someone familiar.
"Argit?" Ben asks.
The alien turned around and flinched when he saw him.
"Tennyson? What are you doin' here?" Argit asks, taking a discarded piece of fruit into his mouth.
"I'm a regular. What are you doing here in the dumpster?" Ben questioned as he pulled back to allow Argit to get out.
"I'm just… hidin'." Argit said.
"Hiding?" Ben questioned, not liking this.
"I may be… owin' Trombipulor some money…" Argit admits sheepishly.
Meanwhile
A certain ghost boy was still looking for Ben 10.
"How hard is it to find a guy who turns into different aliens?" Danny asks himself.
That's when he heard stomping and the sounds of people screaming away from the stomping.
He blinked.
What he heard next sounded like an elephant, much to his surprise.
"Well, a good place to start…" Danny said with a shrug as he followed.
He soon arrived to where the sound was coming from.
He then saw what looked to be a humanoid elephant, who looked as though he's searching for something.
An elephant? Danny questioned as he walked up to the creature.
An elephant-like alien in a strange purple and black outfit.
He raised a brow at the sight of it.
"Uh… Tennyson?" Danny asks.
The alien saw him and became hostile.
"Get lost!" The humanoid alien shouted as he attacked.
An instant backhand sent Danny into a billboard, breaking through it. Once he was able to, he stopped the momentum of his sudden flight and shook his head.
"Okay… Not Tennyson." He said to himself.
The elephant-like alien then sent him a nasty look.
"Another one? How many puny protectors does this planet have?" Trombipulor questioned.
"Well, aside from Tennyson with his friend and hot cousin, there's me, a New Yorker dragon, a hot cheerleader who goes around the globe, a hot French girl in red with her possible boyfriend… wait, why am I answering you?" Danny questioned.
The alien merely scoffed as he glared at him.
"You think you're a match for Trombipulor?!" He shouted.
"Great, another one who speaks in the third person..." Danny said with an eye-roll as he sent a blast.
The alien deflected them by grabbing a discarded car and using it as a shield.
"You're about to learn a lesson: Mess with Trombipulor, you get the tusks!" Trombipulor shouted as he threw the car, causing Danny to catch it.
Danny rose an eyebrow at that line he said as he let the car down.
"It's the bull and horn, bark breath." The ghost boy said as he sent more blasts at him.
"Bark? Do I look like a dog?" Trombipulor questioned as he braced for each blast.
"I mean tree bark! That's what Earth elephants eat in the wild along with fruit and roots!" Danny shouted before muttering to himself. "Something I had to learn after Sam gave us a 2 hour lecture and scolding for offering one at the zoo peanuts..."
Unknown to him, someone was watching this fight.
It was Ben, who was watching Trombilator face off against someone he knew of vaguely.
"What's going on?" Ben asked out loud.
"Looks like someone's invadin' your turf." Argit snarked as he hid behind Ben.
"Speaking of invading… care to pay up Trombipulor?" Ben asks.
Argit paled a bit.
"I think I'll let the other guy handle this…" Argit said, cowering.
Ben rolled his eyes.
Meanwhile, Danny was still figuring out how to handle Trombipulor, as he knew his usual way of fighting wouldn't be effective.
Gotta remember, he's not a ghost so the thermos won't work… still...
The ghost boy thought fast and flew to the alien.
Danny flew in and grabbed Trombipulor by the trunk. He took a moment to notice the nostrils.
"Oh, this isn't your mouth?" He asks.
"Of course not! What idiot would think that's my mouth?!" Trombipulor questioned harshly.
"Just checking… before I do this!"
He used his power to swing Trombipulor over his shoulder, swinging him and making an impact in the concrete.
Trombipulor wasn't finished as he got back up.
"Think you can knock me down?" He asked, getting on his feet.
"Well, I did help defeat the most powerful dragon on Earth… so yeah." Danny said.
That's when he got an idea.
He became invisible.
"Hey! Where'd he go?!" Trombipulor questioned as he looked around while scratching the top of his head. He then shrugged. "Eh, whatever, now to find Argit and get my-" Suddenly, he started to glow, contorting in ways that shouldn't have been possible for him. "What the heck is going on?!"
Ben saw this and raised a brow in confusion.
"I better-"
Ben stopped as he saw it.
That's when Trombipulor froze and his eyes turned green.
He then stood up, looking at his own hands in amusement.
"Huh… so this is what it's like to be an alien? Is this how Tennyson feels?" Danny's voice came out of Trombipulor's mouth. Then he made a fist. "Okay… let's see if this works."
He swung the fist into the alien elephant's face.
With that, Danny was ejected out of the alien's head as Trombipulor fell forward, landing on his stomach as he was out cold, his tongue sticking out.
Danny shook his head to clear his thoughts, while all else just stared at his defeat of Trombipulor.
"Whoa…" Ben went.
"What a relief…" Argit sighed.
"Don't be too relieved... he'll come back at some point." Ben reminds, earning a terrified flinch from Argit.
Danny then fired a beam of ice around the alien's body, effectively trapping him in an igloo where only his head was free.
"That should keep him down."
That's when Danny noticed the people who were terrified of Trombipulor stepped out, applauding for him.
Danny scratched the back of his head, feeling flustered.
"Thanks for stopping him..." One of them said.
"Thanks, but isn't this Ben Tennyson's city?" One of them asked out loud.
Danny blinked at that.
"Well...Uh...I was just passing by..." He said.
All the while Ben and Argit watched.
"I better get goin' case Dumbo there wakes up…" Argit said before trying to sneak away.
However, seeing as he's been around someone lately, Ben called out to him.
"So… wanna grab a bite or something?" Ben asks.
Argit stepped back, getting defensive.
"Whoa, is this some new Plumber thing? Cause you ain't got proof! I ain't done nothin'! … this time." Argit said.
Ben waved his hands.
"No, nothing like that. I just wanted someone to hang out with…" He says.
"Oh… no, not really." Argit said before turning his back and walking away.
With him gone, the hero of Bellwood groaned.
Back to square one… Ben thinks.
However, he then heard someone muttering to themselves as soon as the crowd left.
"Great… still can't find the guy…" Danny mutters. He saw the unconscious alien and shook his head. "All because of that pachyderm punk. I'm so glad Sam's not here to bust my chops despite the fact that it's an alien criminal."
He did not see Ben yet, who was listening in.
"Who is he looking for?" Ben whispered as he hid around the corner.
The ghost kid groaned as he realized that he had to keep looking.
"Now… where's Tennyson?" Danny asks himself as he flew off.
That caught the other boy's attention.
"Me? He's after me?" Ben asks himself.
Later
Ben kept an eye out, ready in case this Danny Phantom stepped in.
''Now, where is that guy?..."He thought.
He had heard of him, but not much else. All he knew was he was some kind of ghostly being who protected his city from paranormal threats, but there were reports of him terrorizing the town.
It's probably a good thing for him that Harangue isn't in Amity Park… Ben thought.
Other than that, he knew next to nothing. Max didn't see him as a threat and figured maybe they could recruit him as a Plumber. Gwen, despite that he seemed younger, thought he was cute, much to Kevin's ire.
Seeing Kevin get jealous of someone younger than even us is pretty funny... He thought in amusement.
He looked at his phone and saw the photo Kim Possible put up on her website to show her belief that he's not an enemy.
Ben actually felt a little jealous.
"Man… I wish I got a picture with Kim Possible… preferably her number too." Ben muttered to himself, as he and Julie are currently split so it was okay to want that.
Besides that, he has been a fan of hers for years and didn't deny she was very attractive.
As he frowned, that's when he heard his stomach grumbling.
It was pretty loud, loud enough to assume it was an animal snarling.
Ben groaned as his stomach rumbled a bit.
"Can't deal with that ghost kid on an empty stomach…" He muttered. He looked around and saw a place. "Pizza. Sweet…" He then noticed the long line and pouted. "Well… beggars can't be choosers…"
Meanwhile
Danny, after finding a place to morph, went and looked around on foot. He didn't find a sign at all.
Okay… find Ben Tennyson… pick fight and… somehow get him to listen to reason. But how? Danny thought.
He is still unsure about this whole thing.
The note warned him someone was gonna send a note to him and lie that Ben 10 was going to attack him, so to play along, he would make the first move and attack first.
Now, he was starting to wonder if coming alone was a good idea.
He was still wondering when to go when he heard someone speak to him.
"Excuse me, young man." A British voice asked.
The ghost boy blinked a bit.
He saw a man in a lab coat approach him.
"Yes, sir?" Danny asked.
"I'm curious, I'm looking for the nearest place to eat fish and chips, can you aid me?" He asks.
"I wish I could, but I don't live here." Danny responded.
"I see… my apologies. Are you here to meet with someone?" He asks.
"You could… say that." Danny answered.
"Is this person your age? I believe I saw a pizzeria not far from here in…" He pointed to his right. "That direction."
Danny looked that way and, after a moment to think to himself, shrugged.
"Good place as any…" Danny said before looking back at the man. "Thanks, S-" He stopped upon noticing the man in question had disappeared. He looked around and scratched the back of his head. "Weird… eh." He went before going in the direction he pointed towards.
As he left, from a distance, Paradox nodded.
He also saw something was still on the ghost boy.
"Good, he didn't notice what I placed in his pocket while he looked away. Then again, I did have to freeze time. Still, let's see how this works…" He said to himself before taking out a small bag of gumballs and taking one. "May as well see how things go."
Granted, he knew how it would play out, but he figured it would be interesting to see for himself.
In a few minutes
Danny soon arrived to pizzeria.
"There's the pizza place… now… how to get his attention?" Danny thought.
Meanwhile, someone watched from afar
Several yards away, behind a billboard, Vlad was hiding.
"Excellent… my plan to convince Daniel that Tennyson is the enemy is working better than I thought." Vlad whispered to himself.
"Plasmius!" The voice in his ear went. "What's going on right now?"
Vlad hissed at the volume before shaking it off and speaking.
"Oh, just a good chance we'll be losing one potential threat to our plans…" Vlad said with a grin.
His ally remained silent as Vlad watched on.
Oh my gosh... how long it took. I so wanted to finish this fast.

So, in case you're wondering... yes, I have been watching the latest seasons of Death Battle. I hate that they name the fighters at first now instead of building up to the fighters. Granted, each season since 5 keeps making changes I don't like. The new theme isn't that good, I think Wiz and Boomstick being animated is a waste of money, I don't like that they got rid of the FIGHT!, and I dislike the redesigns of the two even if they're easier to animate.
In case you don't follow other stories I do, know that yes, I am aware of the Danny Phantom graphic novel coming next year. I've seen the artist working on it and think she's excellent. No word on if she's also the writer, but we all know who I don't want. He's probably too busy charging people far too much money for bad drawings.
