Author's Note: HELLOOOOOO! How are you everyone? Now I know many of my MHA fans are wondering when the new incarnation of "The Friendly Neighborhood Hero: Spiderman'" is coming out, well I have good news and bad news… The Good News is that I am still taking notes to try and figure out how to get everything done this time, but progress is slower than I imagined as I'm trying to balance out all of Mikumo's abilities and not make him Overpowered and Overly Complicated. Thr Bad News is that I wont be able to start writing or posting it for a while yet, due to my recently obtaining "Tasha's Cauldron of Everything" and "Van Richten's guide to Ravenloft" as well as Pre-ordering the newest books to be released "The Wild Beyond the Witchlight'' and "Fizban's Treasury of Dragons", I'm just hyped for the new D&D 5E content heading our way. However, I am turning this excitement into a means to create some new Crossover content just for you guys! This story will be a Crossover between My Hero Academia and Dungeons and Dragons, based on the 3rd ending of MHA "Datte Atashi no Hero" Which is based on what appears to be a large island nation that is mostlyPlains, Forest, and Mountains, a volcanic region in the North-East, and a few minor Desert-Canyon-Mountainous regions to the North West, whilst having at least 16 smaller islands scattered throughout it, based on what I can see of the Overworld map provided. Now running the numbers, that's a total of 17 islands from what I can see from the Ending Cinematic.
My hometown, Kodiak, sits as the capital of the Kodiak Island Borough, and this borough is smack dab in the middle of an archipelago that is between 16 and 30 islands in total, according to some articles. Now to make this a bit more manageable, I am going to do something crazy. Since no size is given to this island in any MHA Article, I'm going to give it a landmass of Kodiak Island Borough, which is about 12,000 Square Miles in total landmass. The Main Island in this story will have the same size of Kodiak Island itself, 4,000 Square Miles, whilst the remaining 8,000 will be split up amongst the 16 remaining islands, giving them each a size of 500 square miles, this will give me plenty of things to play around with later on!
Also I know that in "Datte Atashi no Hero" the main party consisted of Izuku Midoriya (A Fighter, subclass unknown), Ochako Uraraka (A Sorceress, subclass unknown), Tenya Iida (A Paladin by my best guess), Katsuki Bakugou (A Drakewarden Ranger/Barbarian Multiclass), and Shoto Todoroki (A Cavalier Fighter), but I am not going to be using this Party Composition, it's too unbalanced, especially with no dedicated healer. Now for the Party I do have planned, I got something interesting for all of you to learn. Before I begin, each character will be placed at 3rd Level, so each of them will have begun discovering their "Quirks" in this story, and thus are in the "Local Heroes" in terms of abilities. So without Further ado, I will list off each character for the party, their race/subrace, class/subclass, and the Feat I have chosen for each of them to start with, as well as an explanation as to why I chose each of them:
Izuku Midoriya: Variant Human, Warlock (Hexblade/Pact of the Blade), Feats: Eldritch Adept, Tough, Prodigy
Explanation: Now I thought long and hard about this but in the end I couldn't choose Fighter or Paladin for Izuku, despite his heroic efforts in the Anime and Manga. The Inheritance of One For All sounds too much like a Warlock making a pact with a patron. With that in mind, I had decided that One For All should actually be a legendary Hexblade weapon forged by the Raven Queen herself, to be passed down from sworn champion to sworn champion in order to defeat the BBEG at the end of the Campaign. If you know anything about the Raven Queen, you know what she hates most, and if you know anything about My Hero Academia, you know who the BBEG is. However, this doesn't mean that Izuku won't take on the Paladin Multiclass later on, especially when he finds out who created One For All in the first place, and who the First Champion is!
Ochako Uraraka: Githyanki, Wizard (Graviturgy Magic), Feat: Tough, Fighting Initiate, Telepathic
Expalanation: Okay so I had to think hard about this, and the reason why I chose Uraraka to be a Githyanki was mostly due to the fact that she has a space and gravity theme going on about her, and the Githyanki exist in the Astral Plane, which is pretty much Outer Space. There is also a reason why I chose her to be a Wizard too, as it is the only one that allows me to give her full-on Gravity based abilities. Trust me, I was extremely tempted to turn Ochako into a Aberrant Mind Sorcerer just for the laughs, with the idea of her having survived Ceremorphosis, the process of becoming a Mind Flayer, and gaining their powers instead, but it wouldn't fit Ochako very well. As for her first two feats, Tough and Fighting Initiate, it's all to give Uraraka her abilities in the anime/manga, her enhanced endurance and her hand-to-hand fighting techniques.
Fumikage Tokoyami: Kenku, Monk (Way of the Astral Self), Feat: Awakened Kenku, Mobile, Skulker
Explanation: Now this one was suggested by D3lph0xL0v3r, he had told me that if he had created a version of Fumikage, then he would have done it as an Astral Self Monk, is it reminds him quite a bit of Dark Shadow. I had also argued with him that Shadow Monk and Shadow Sorcerer would've also been great fits, but after a while, I took a deeper look into the Astral Self, and I realized that it actually might fit, and with a bit of ingenuity, I could also add other things that might work for Fumikage! More than that, I found a Homebrew Feat that allows Fumikage to regain his race's original abilities to fly, talk, and think uniquely. As for his obsession with Darkness, since I couldn't figure out the God the Kenku betrayed, I thought that maybe the Raven Queen would be the one his race betrayed! The other feats are just meant to work with his other abilities.
Tsuyu Asui: Grung, Druid (Circle of the Moon), Feats: Chef, Keen Mind, Alert
Explanation: When I asked Delphox who he wanted to pair Fumikage with, I gave him quite a few choices to choose from, and the one he wanted most was Tsuyu. Now, as for the reason why I made her a Grung was due to one thing that fits in the Anime/Manga, her quirk "Frog". However, I won't be having it that Tsuyu is like any other Grung, in fact, I have a reason why she has a human form in the first place, but more on that in the Introductions. As for choosing her to be a Circle of the Moon Druid, I mostly chose this idea due because of the fact that Druids are not only offensive mages, but healers too, and as Tsuyu wants to be a Rescue Hero in the Manga/Anime, this fits, since the Circle of the Moon allows her to take on all sorts of animalistic forms so she can save people, plus later she can utilize Concentration Spells in her Wildshape if need be.
Mikumo Akatani: Dhampir, Swarmkeeper Ranger, Feats: Piercer, Tough, Mobile
Explanation: Now I know you guys remember Mikumo as Kamen Rider Gadget, but to be honest, I didn't want to do another monk, so I had decided to try something else with Mikumo. In this case, I was inspired by the Vampires of the Witcher Video Game Series, primarily Regis and Detlaff for their powerful claws as well as their fangs, since, with the newest additions thanks to "Tasha's Cauldron of Everything" I can now get "Primeval Savagery" thanks to the "Druidic Warrior" Fighting Style of the "Fighting Style Options Feature". To add to this, I mixed in some Vlad Draculea from "Dracula Untold" as the guy practically screams Swarmkeeper Ranger due to one scene in the Movie, hence why Mikumo is a Swarmkeeper. As for the Feats, I merely wanted to exploit the Dhampir's abilities as best I can within the limits I set myself.
Mei Hatsume: Fairy, Battle Smith Artificer, Feats: Gunner, Sharpshooter, Linguist
Explanation: So the reason why I chose Fair for Mei has a couple of things to it. The first is that I wanted to turn Mei into a Fairy, thanks to my niece, Kaylee May, liking the Tinkerbell series when she was a few years old, and thanks to Isaac Carlson from Watso Videos, I had gotten some ideas for Mei. Unfortunately, the Unearthed Arcana for the Fairy has been closed off from D&D Beyond. However, next month it will be available again, thanks to me preordering "The Wilds beyond the Witchlight". The second was, as a kid, I had a huge crush on Tinkerbell despite her antics in the Peter Pan movies. Anyway, Artificer was an easy choice, but the problem came in when I wanted to choose her Subclass. Armorer, Battle Smith, and Artillerist were all really amazing choices for me. With Artillerist, I could give Mei a Motha-fuckin RPG in her Motha-Fuckin backpack, just like in Afro Samurai. With Armorer, she could use her own Power Armor on herself and amplify her abilities. However, I remembered that Mei liked selling her "babies" to other people, so Battle Smith won out in the end, because she could create a medium sized "baby" to aid her in battle, with a Homunculus Servant allowing her to use Mend on her "baby" at a range. Plus, Mei usually works with metal objects in the Anime/Manga anyway, so smith's tools fit. As for her feats, I chose Linguist so she can sell her crafts to npcs, whilst her Gunner and Sharpshooter Feats are meant to replicate her Zoom Quirk, and take advantage of it in a way I would have if I were Mei, the team's sniper.
In any case, I hope you guys enjoy the introductions as we prepare to dive headfirst into the Island Nation of Dawnstar and bring out heroes into the story full force! Please be sure to Follow, Favorite, Review, share this story with your friends, and check out my other content! Be prepared for the first official chapter to come out after September 21st! Also a big shoutout and thanks to D3lph0xL0v3r for helping me set up this story, thanks man! Catch ya on the Flipside! NAT 20!
Prologue: Introductions
Izuku Midoriya:
In my youth, there was one person who was synonymous with Courage, Hope, and Peace, and that was the legendary Paladin known as Toshinori Yagi, but more famously known as the All Might. All Might was the greatest hero of the Order of the Dragon in Generations, and successor to the sword known as One For All, a legendary sword said to be the bane of the undead in their entirety. Little did I know that one day, it would be my turn to wield such a legendary blade.
During what should have been a relatively peaceful day, my mother and I were stopping by in the nearby town of Musutafu in order to sell our family's wares when we were attacked by a rather massive slime monster, my mother had managed to evade, being a former adventurer herself, but I was easily caught. Thankfully, All Might appeared and blew the creature to bits with a powerful spell, sending the creature flying into several pieces. After receiving an autograph, All Might had attempted to leave, but I had many questions for him that needed answering. Unfortunately, my persistence had earned me something I never thought I would ever see, All Might, as I had seen him, had been under the effects of an Enhance Ability Spell, and I soon found out why.
It was during a Previous battle five years before against a powerful Lich that he had been severely injured, and now his own sword, One For All, had been pushing him to find a successor due to the fact that he couldn't lift the thing on his own and required magic to enhance his body enough to do so. I had asked him if it was possible that I could find a way to help him, but he merely told me that the only way I could help him was to stay alert the next time I was in an area I didn't know.
I was crushed at that point, as I so wanted to be able to help him, but I knew he was right, there was nothing I could do. However, not more than a few minutes later, another slime had entered into town, a Gelatinous Cube, one bigger and stronger than other slimes known in the area, and people were running in fear as the creature was also acting strangely, it was acting like a frenzied animal rather than a slime. However, that wasn't what caught my eye, for though I wanted so much to flee, I could see a young woman, a Gith, cornered by the Slime. Without Thinking, my body moved on it's own, and I rushed to the creature, grabbing a weapon from a nearby magic item vendor, and tossing it at the creature, getting it's attention, the girl took the opportunity to book it somewhere nearby, but I had been set on the sights of the slime.
However, before I could become slime gumbo, something had protected, it was a giant fist made of divine energy, which had punched the Slime backwards. To my shock, I, and everyone, turned to see All Might in his diminished form transform into the state everyone knew him to be, and All Might defeated the monster with one of his spells, Eldritch Blast. After everything had been brought back to order, I had been called by the Town's Clergy to the Temple, where I was brought before a Statue of a beautiful woman with a porcelain mask framed by ravens on each side, and a pillar behind her with the ancient sigil of "Death" upon it; the Raven Queen, Goddess of Death.
It was then I saw All Might again, and he revealed that he had chosen me to be his successor, as he had reminded him that he himself had not been living up to his own ideals, and what the world truly needed now was a True Hero who was willing to put his life on the line for others without thinking of their own wellbeing. He then held One For All by it's sheath and presented the blade's hilt to me. He told me before the Order of the Dragon that One For All was an ancient Hexblade forged by the Raven Queen herself, crafted to be the bane of undead for hundreds of years. Now that All Might's body wasn't up to the task of wielding such a blade on his own anymore, he needed to pass it on to a successor, and as such, it was my destiny to become the 9th Wielder of One For All. He merely told me to take up the sword, and let destiny run it's course.
I was excited, and thrilled, I had always wanted to be a Paladin, but knowing this weapon was a Hexblade, I couldn't imagine what I'd become. I took the blade into my hands, and as I drew it, I felt something about the blade that I never thought was possible. The blade had a semi-sentience of it's own, was willful, ravenous, and, horrifyingly, deranged from suffering defeat after defeat by an enemy it should have already killed centuries ago. Whats more, the blade itself started to take control of my arm, and tried to force me into killing All Might, as if it was angry with it's former wielder. I could see the memories in the blade, and it wasn't angry with All Might in the slightest, it was mourning the deaths of it's former masters and how it had not been strong enough to save them. It was then I did something exceedingly foolish and turned the blade on myself, stabbing the weapon into my heart.
However, when I felt like that would be the end, I found myself surrounded by 8 ghosts, 7 of which I could not see the faces off, but one of them looked exactly like Toshinori. Before I could register what was going on, however, the blade erupted from my chest without a wound on me, and had pierced a stone nearby, in which it rested there. None of us able to understand what was going on, we all turned to see the Raven Queen herself appear before all of us, in which she expressed both her shock and gratitude for sparing Toshinori's life. She told us that One For All was a blade she gave out to her first champion, her mortal husband, who failed to defeat the Lich whom had scarred Toshinori and killed it's 7 previous wielders. She would tell me that by turning the blade on myself before it could kill Toshinori, it had begun a chain reaction that would require time for the weapon to fully understand, and until then, it would remain in the stone… Waiting for me...
All Might then proceeded to train me as a Warlock with a Hexblade Pact, in which he took me on a few small missions to help me gain experience and on the job training, along with the physical training that he had promised, even helping me reach a point I had unlocked an Eldritch Font within myself, allowing me to obtain the ability to utilize the Armor of Shadows without the aid of my Patron. Eventually, I reached a level of power that the sword itself called to me… And upon returning to the temple, I took hold of the blade… and Slowly freed it from the stone...
Ochako Uraraka:
When people look at me, they always point out the fact that I'm a Gith, and not many know what my people are beyond the fact that we have, and still are, hunting the Mind Flayers to extinction. I mean I can't accept what they did to our people in the past, and they do deserve to die, but honestly, I love my lot in life. I was born to a Githyanki Father and a Githzerai mother, both of whom had, in the past, been forced to work together in an adventuring party in the past, but eventually, the two fell in love, with my dad learning to become laid back, whilst my mom learned to accept her emotions and use them to focus her abilities. Eventually, they retired from the Adventurer's life and became renowned builders, in which many Gith, both of Yanki and Zerai, would come to form a community together where they worked with one another to build what should have happened in the past, the united Gith people working together as they did when they rebelled against the Mind Flayers.
Thanks to our community of Psionically empowered Gith living peacefully, many of the human communities either wanted to make peace with us, or try to destroy us. Those who wanted peace were welcomed until they proved untrustworthy, those who wished violence outright learned what the Gith, united as one, would do to those who wanted to harm us. Eventually, as I was growing up, I had wanted to help my family in their craft, but my father urged me to find my own path, as it would be the one I was happiest with in the end. I disagreed at first, but eventually, I discovered I had a knack for learning spells, one that a traveling Warforged Wizard had taken notice of and asked if he could take me on as an apprentice. My parents agreed, but only if the Wizard would allow them to build a tower for him in their community, so they could visit from time to time.
The Wizard agreed, and a place for the tower was selected, and during it's construction, my education began. Little did I know I was actually being trained by a legendary wizard who was once a member of the Order of the Dragon. His name was 13, and he taught me one of the most powerful forms of magic out there, Graviturgy, or Gravity Manipulation Magic. My studies went on for a few years, and Marwin became like a grandfather to me, my parents adoring the old Warforged for his goofiness and antics. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, as one day, 13 told me he had to leave due to the fact the Order needed him for one final mission, and that he told me the Githyanki were known for riding upon the backs of dragons in the past, and that possibly, one day, I'd find my own dragon to ride into battle, hoping it wasn't a Chromatic.
It was then I had decided to begin a life of adventuring, and I had heard of an Adventurer's Guild being located in the town of Musutafu. Unfortunately, i had picked the wrong day to come into town as a Gelatinous Cube had decided to attack the town, and I was unlucky enough to take a wrong turn and get trapped in an alley with one part of it blocked off. The Slime had begun to approach me, and due to my lack of experience, I had begun to panic, forgetting that I was a Wizard, having frozen in fear, only for Javelin to pierce the cube and… Well things progressed so fast that I don't know what happened. However, that day I was rescued by a plain looking boy, but with beautiful green hair, almost like that of the darkest pine needles that would sway in the wind, with eyes like polished emeralds. I will never forget that sight...
Fumikage Tokoyami:
My People, the Kenku, have always been seen as monsters and pests to a functioning society, creatures that should remain in the dark for none to see. However, this isn't a story about my anger towards society, because, in truth, they are correct, and the truths I had uncovered were enough for me to see from their point of view. In the Past I had been nothing more than a thief, a pickpocket, stealing enough coin to put food on the table for my mother, with my father doing his best to help, as he was one of the few to earn an opportunity to improve our station beyond the prejudice of others. Like a fool, I hated him for it, for he was gone for days, sometimes weeks at a time, doing whatever it was he was doing, only coming back with coin enough to keep us barely above water for the time being.
I had grown sick of it that I had decided to follow him one day, only to discover my father talking to some men in robes, using words that he himself spoke, about how he had killed dozens of Kenku and had tortured them all to make them scream. Hearing enough, I burst through the door and attacked the man I called a father. The hooded figures restrained me, only for them to reveal themselves as members of the Order of the Dragon, one of the strongest and most honorable order of warriors who served to protect the world from the hordes of the darkness. My father had been taken to a healer, and as they explained to me that he had been spying on a murderer who had been hunting down and killing their Kenku agents, I realized then my folly.
Unfortunately, my realization came too late… The Healers had told me my father had not long to live, and I used the final moments he had to apologize and beg him for forgiveness with words I had copied. The last thing my father ever did for me… Was hold me close and told me, with, shockingly, his own words, that I was forgiven, and that he was sorry that he had been a terrible father. It was then i noticed the wings upon my father's back, something I had never seen before. I couldn't forgive myself for my transgression and held my father's body close as I cried over his corpse, regretting my rash decision.
In that instant, I was found guilty of murdering a warrior of the Order of the Dragon, however, as they knew the situation, they instead sent me to a monastery in the mountains near the town of Musutafu, and there, I was welcomed. The Monks of this place had been very supportive and had given me all the time i needed to adjust and mourn my father. When I was ready, I began training with them, and slowly, over time, I had come to see the Monks as a second family. Eventually, I was deemed worthy enough to enter the libraries in order to learn the truth about my race's past. From what I discovered, we had originated in the Shadowfell as the Raven Queen's most loyal and sworn servants, bringing her news of undead and aiding her Shadar-Kai in the extermination of the Undead with our unique powers.
Unfortunately, our ancestors had been tempted by a Warlock of unimaginable power, tempted with the ability to command the Shadar-Kai and rise as the dominant species of the Shadowfell, and all we need do was to steal a legendary sword from the Raven Queen's Possession, the sword known as All for One. Our ancestors managed it, but the moment the sword was handed over to the Warlock, he revealed himself to be a Lich, and it was then our fall from grace became realized. Blinded by our greed, we had betrayed the goddess whom we had loved and loyally served for untold generations. Now, thanks to our greed, we were banished from the Shadowfell, stripped of our wings, our voices, and our unique thoughts. However, those who managed to earn the Raven Queen's forgiveness were once again blessed with their wings, voices, and thoughts, but the process was long and hard, and required not only weeks of preparation, but days of fasting and prayer to the Raven Queen.
That was when I discovered why my father was gone for those stretches at a time, he had been trying to earn the Forgiveness of our Goddess. The irony of the information had tasted like soggy bread off a filthy floor, and I too had decided to not only earn the Raven Queen's forgiveness, but also to earn my redemption by serving the people as a guardian. It would take years, but eventually, I grew powerful enough to summon Dark Shadow, my Astral Self, the being who had been the manifestation of the curse placed upon me by the Raven Queen. Through Training and Meditation, I had begun to see the depths of my sins, and I began the same long and arduous process my father had gone through, until, finally, I felt it… The Warm hands of the Raven Queen upon my back, and slowly and painlessly removed from me were my wings, and she gave me back everything she had taken from me before I was born… And there is only one thing I can say in this… "Forgive me, Mistress…"
Tsuyu Asui:
Many people who look upon the Grung look at them with fear and disgust, for both how ugly they are and for how monstrous they are. They enslave others, keeping them docile through poisoned food, and see themselves as superior to others. In most cases, they would be right… However, they were not of a tribe that had been taken from their homeland and then experimented on by an insane mage. I don't remember who it was that changed me, but I could hear him cackling about turning us into agents of chaos and destruction to take over the land. He had run experiments on us, day in and day out, erasing our old selves through pain and drugs, physically, mentally, and spiritually transforming us into a new species of Grung that looked no different than the people whom we had tried to enslave so long ago.
My First memories were that of me being in my new body after the madman's latest experiments, the mage was exhausted and my body was both naked and wracked with pain, so I barely had the means to defend myself. However, through sheer force of will, I poisoned the madman to death, and rescued my tribe. We fled into the wilderness, only to be discovered by a group of people called the Order of the Dragon. They took us in, clothed us, fed us, and even bathed us. They weren't surprised when we told them we were Grung, and that we had been the subjects of the mad mage's experiments, but they told us that we were not like what we were before, no would we likely be again. This was also a chance for us to make something of ourselves and repent for the sins we had committed in our "past lives".
Though we were still scared and confused, we were given places to stay and slowly introduced into society. However, it was obvious to people that we were once Grung, so they were obviously cautious around us. It took years to do, but we eventually got people to trust us, especially after something interesting had happened. A Young Yuan-Ti named Habuko had been assaulted by the people for being of the Monstrous Races, like we Grung once were. However, when I defended her, shielding her from the townsfolk throwing stones at her, many had begun to question themselves. Habuko and I became fast friends, in which I learned that Habuko was banished from her sanctuary due to the fact that she refused to serve the Snake Gods or the Demons. She had instead decided to become a druid and use her magical abilities to help the townsfolk as a doctor.
This would come to a head when a pregnant woman was giving birth and no other healer in town was available, so they came to Habuko's home, where she and I had helped the woman give birth to her baby boy. After this, things improved for both the Grung and the Yuan-Ti that began to show up after they followed in Habuko's footsteps. My efforts had gotten the attention of a Dragonborn named Ryuko Tatsuma, and her Harengon Partner, Rumi Usagiyama, and both of them decided to teach me the ways of the Druid, in which I revealed my affinity for the Wildshape Ability, in which both taught me how to become a Druid of the Circle of the Moon. Through me, they began their own Circle outside of town as nature priests for the people, and my tribe actually found themselves drawn to the Circle, even joining.
Unfortunately, all good times must come to an end, as I began to hear rumors about a place called Musutafu that had a renowned Adventurer's Guild there, and they were looking for new recruits. My circle leaders encouraged me to seek out my future, and told me that maybe where my destiny lays… In Musutafu...
Mikumo Akatani:
To be a Dhampir is to often be mistaken for what a Vampire actually looks like, and many people look upon us with dread and fear, but it is not unfounded. Many Dhampirs are born as the spawn of Vampires having their ways with mortals, either by humans surviving the initial attack, or… Something less savory… For me, it was none of these things… When I was born, I was completely human, and had a completely normal childhood. However, when I turned 7, I had suddenly fallen deathly ill, and nobody, not even the Priests could find out why I was so sick. However, as they monitored me, they had noticed I had begun exhibiting the traits of a Vampire, and they had warned my parents that if I died, I would be reborn as a Vampire, and they would be forced to kill me.
However, I had survived, and managed to push through my illness, but I had been permanently changed, but more than that, I had remembered something that I had not known. I had remembered my past life, that I was once a powerful Vampire known as Count Vladislaus Dracula. I had remembered that in my past life, I had once been the ruler of this nation, and I was benevolent, for a time, but when I had made a deal with the Demon Lord Orcus for the power to save my people from invaders, I had made a bet that I had lost, at the cost of somebody very important to me. Because of the Pain of Loss I had felt, I had slaughtered all of my enemies with my bare claws. The slaughter had caught the attention of a powerful Lich at the time and offered me a chance to regain my humanity, to transfer my curse onto somebody else… It was a lie, and I had been his puppet throughout my rule, and when I was finally defeated, I was ready to enter the Abyss as part of the deal I had made with Orcus.
However, strangely enough, I didn't find myself in the Abyss as I had thought, instead, I found myself somewhere I didn't expect, the Shadowfell. At first, I had thought I had been confined in the Ravenloft, the Prison for all the most wicked of people, but I found myself standing before the Raven Queen herself, and knowing I was either royally screwed, I kneeled before her… She would explain to me that I had sacrificed my own soul in a attempt to save my people, but my sacrifice was made almost meaningless by the sins I had committed, and yet, somehow, i had managed to balance out all the good and bad i had done, and that left me in a precarious situation.
She would then offer me a deal, to have me and my people serve time in the Ravenloft, a limited sentence, unlike the permanent one that my compatriots would suffer, but in exchange, those I had ruled would be reincarnated when the time was right. However, If I pulled this kind of shit again, I would be transferred to Ravenloft permanently, with no chance of redemption again. This was an offer that I couldn't pass up, and for the chance to save my people from that Damned Lich's hunger, I would take it. I agreed to the deal, and for, I don't know how long, my people and I were trapped in Ravenloft, but slowly, over time, they began disappearing, having been released from the prison, until, at last, I had received a chance.
For three days I slept without so much as moving, and I still exhibited the signs that I was alive, and on the Third Evening, bats had begun to swarm all of my hometown, circling around the temple in which I was resting in, and many of the priests began to fear I was turning. However, as the sun rose that morning, to the shock of every priest and cleric, I was standing in the direct sunlight without being burned, and the flocks of bats swarmed around in a massive cyclone, in which I stood at the heart of the storm, feeling my destiny call to me… To the surprise of everyone, a Dhampir Ranger had felt my destiny as well, and he took me on as his student, teaching me how to become a Swarmkeeper, in which, while he used bees, an animal in which I had once been allergic too, I used Bats. More than that, he had taught me how to fight like a member of the Akatani Clan of Dhampirs, who specialized in using their mystical claws to fight at a close range, whilst being acutely aware of the weather and using it to hunt vampires.
However, due to the fact that I had not only been a reincarnated vampire, but a direct descendant of my former self, by their knowledge, they disowned me, and the Akatani Clan took me in instead. For years, I trained and hunted with them, learning to use my new abilities, and to indulge my hunger in combat, as a means of defending others whilst satiating my cravings, preventing me from attacking innocent civilians. Thankfully, my training proceeded well, to the point I had gotten faster, more durable, and I had even developed fangs that could pierce deeper into my opponent's flesh. Eventually, I had grown strong enough that I was deemed ready to begin my life as an Adventurer, and so, they directed me to a little town known as Musutafu, which was where my teacher had begun his life as an adventurer, and he told me that I would find somebody who could help me there. Let the Games Begin...
Mei Hatsume:
Living in the Feywild is actually pretty interesting, but, from time to time, things can get boring, and for me, it was boring all the time. Honestly? I don't know why I spent so long inside a forest of never ending emotion, I just didn't find it at all interesting. Ever since I was born, I was always genuinely curious about creating things, and making new things, not with magic, but with pure hard work. I was a crafter by trade, and yet nobody was really interested in what I had wanted to create, as I was considered a freak in my community. Nothing in the Feywild is ever created uniquely, they are merely copies of what is created in the Material Realm, the Realm where the Feywild and the Shadowfell reflect what is there.
It was then I knew what I had to do, I left the Feywild in order to express my unique talents to the world, and luckily, there was a portal located near an Artificer's workshop, the man taking notice of me immediately. It took a few days, but I had eventually showed off to him my talents, which I had feared were pretty much a copycat of some gnome or other person of the Material Realm of my size. However, my teacher, whom I gave the nickname of Power Loader, had told me that fairies like myself were rare, but not unheard of. Fairies like me, who had a talent for tinkering and creating objects with their bare hands, were given the nickname of Gremlins. He also told me the original race of Gremlins had existed hundreds of years ago, but they were wiped out during an event known as the Spellplague, which had occurred all across the Multiverse, and many rare but well known species of monsters and humanoids were wiped out.
So nowadays, Tinker Fairies like me were given the name of Gremlin, and were considered outcasts amongst normal Fey, but amongst the Fey-like creatures of the Material Realm, we were highly valued as assistants for famous artificers, since we could get into hard to reach places without tearing entire constructs to pieces, among other things. However, allow us to express ourselves through tinkering, and many of us could put the best gnome artificers to shame. As such, my training began, and years later, I became good enough to develop my own… for the lack of a better term… Babies. I crafted and tinkered until I got everything just right before selling them to a worthy owner, and then I would move onto the next project.
However, one day, my teacher told me he could teach me no more, and that the next teach he would send me off to would be Experience, and that experience would be through the Adventurer's guild he once worked through. The location of the town it was hosted in was Musutafu, one I had heard rumors of stirring in the distance. What could possibly go wrong?
