AN: So here is the "Part 2" that I promised last week! However, in case nobody noticed, this chapter isn't labeled as "P. 2", but instead has a different title. This was something that I changed midway through writing this chapter, so I have also gone back and removed the "P. 1" from the previous chapter, and just left it as "Those Annoying Brats". This is another long chapter, but as I stated, I am back and this is my gift to all of you who have stuck around! Thanks to all who left a review, and please continue to leave them! You have no idea how much those reviews help motivate me!
Also, this is something I thought would be rather fun, so let's try this. Obviously, after chapter 3, Mario and Luigi aren't really for Bowser and Peach being together. But, it hasn't been revealed as to why they feel this way. The reason wont be revealed for MANY more chapters. However, I want to see my readers' creativity! Give me one reason in your review why you believe the Mario bros feel the way they feel! Now, after all of that, let's get back to the story!
'They are my children as well, they are my children as well, they are my children as well' Peach reminded herself. Her fingers pressed against the temples of her head. A powerful pump of blood thumped under her skull. An angry twitch shimmied through her brow.
The crashing sound of something echoed off in the distance. Bright mid-day sunlight bathed the open lawn. Shoots of grass tickled the soles of Peach's feet, as the sweet scent of koopluff blossoms filled the air. Larry ran across the yard, smoke bellowing out from his nostrils. Roy, holding a charred toy, his sunglasses bounced with each furious step he took, as he chased his younger brother. "Get back here and face me like a man!" He growled.
Larry's tongue stuck out from his lips in response. His blue mohawk swayed with the breeze. "Slow poke!" he chuckled.
"Blue-boy!" Roy shouted. His feet pounded the grass.
Her eyes squinted in the sun. Peach sat; attempting to follow the duo with her gaze. An almost gnawing feeling churned in her mind. The desire for Bowser's parenting grew, ever so slightly, in her thoughts. "Boys…" she sighed. Her naked palm attempting to massage her forehead.
Jr jumped; his knees banging into the lip of a table, before running after the duo. "I have GOT to see this!" he cheered. His father's love for fighting shone brightly in his childish eyes. The bright orange mane, his signature ponytail, ruffled against the oncoming breeze. "Wait for me!" He called out.
"Morton!" Wendy shrieked; her voice reaching a new height. "Like, stop taking my dolls! I just got them super dolled up!" Her eyes glared at her brother.
"Hahahaha!" Morton laughed. His hand tightly gripped a small female koopa doll. A tongue stuck out between his lips with a snort. "How can dolls get dolled up? Stupid breath!"
"I'm going to fry you!" Wendy shouted. Her signature hoop bracelets shook from her anger. Lips opened to a red glow.
"Wendy! Don't breathe fire on your brother, and Morton, PLEASE give your sister her doll back!" Peach shouted. Small beads of sweat dripped from her cheeks. The blonde in her hair glistening in the sun's rays. Hopelessness and irritation swirled in her heart.
Lemmy shimmied inside his mother's lap. Rainbow hair brushed against Peach's signature pink dress. "Don't stress, Mama" he smiled. His eyes; one of which lazy, closed in delight. His tiny claw brushed the side of Peach's leg.
"Lemmy…" Peach smiled in return. 'At least you listen to what I say' she sighed, inwardly. The clicking of stones dripped into her ears. Her blue eyes shifted. Her vision landed on Ludwig. His claws moved stones in the dirt. Each shift of the stones a different idea in his head. Peach watched; amusement seeping into her mind from the eldest's ingenuity.
Concentration beamed from Ludwig's eyes. His lips silently mouthed different words that seeped out of his brain. The dirt before the eldest koopaling overturned; revealing the dark moist dirt underneath. A claw tapped a larger stone that laid further out. "The proprietary…" he muttered. His mind completely entranced in his imagination.
Peach turned her blue eyes out. Her vision scanned the surrounding area. "Where did those boys go?" She wondered aloud. Her lips fell downwards; showcasing her inner worry. A naked hand ruffled through Lemmy's rainbow mane.
"I wouldn't worry about those buffoons, Mother." Ludwig stated; his vision still stuck in his thoughts. A free claw pointed out towards one end of the lawn. "There are specialized fortifications circumferencing this plot. They will not be wandering outside of it anytime soon." His adult demeanor surging with confidence.
A skeptical smile graced Peach's face. Her eyes following the eldest's claw. "I hope you're right, Ludwig." she replied.
"I'm always right." He replied instantly.
A sweet hum entered into the air surrounding Peach. Her ears perching on the melodious tune. Her gaze shifted back to Lemmy, the most innocent of the children. His beaming smile becoming more potent by the light rays. The joyful sound escaped from his throat. Washes of joy spread inside her mind as she felt her lips naturally turn upwards. "What are you humming, Lemmy?" Peach asked; her gentle hand rustling through his hair.
The sound paused. His eyes lifted up to view his mother. "A song I just made." He replied, his innocence on full display. A cheeky grin flashed across his lips.
"Oh? What is it about?" Peach continued. Her spirit nestled into her motherly role. She found her heart beating pleasantly inside her chest. Her mind genuinely curious as to her son's song.
A toothy smile broke free on Lemmy's face. His claws pointed from himself to Mama Peach. "A song about us!" Lemmy cheered. His pride, similar to his father, beamed from his face.
A flush spread throughout her face. Blood poured to her cheeks as they turned a soft red. The response pierced her soft heart; causing it to beat loudly in her head. "Oh!" Peach gasped. Her mind attempting to keep up with the situation. 'He made a song…about me and him?' she pondered lovingly. Her mind flooded with sweet pink. Fingers continued to tangle around in Lemmy's luscious mane. "Are there any words to go with the song?"
His face turned back in front of him. Lemmy wondered, his hand on his chin, for a brief moment of silence. "Not yet!" He finally answered. "But, I can try and come up with some, Mama!" His head began to swing gently with his renewed tune. Soft, innocent notes drifted in the open air.
Peach closed her eyes; her ears shutting out the rest of the world. All that entered was Lemmy's tune. Her lips pursed in a motherly, full of love, smile. The air in her lungs leaked out. A womanly hum of her own joining the Koopaling's. The tune swirled together in the empty air. It's dance, if visible, exemplified the motherly bond she began to feel with Lemmy. The awe-inspiring tune spread in the garden space.
Ludwig's blue mane wiggled. His ears catching the tune. The rocks before him flung out as he madly started drawing in the dirt. His claw scratching out different musical notes. The inner composer flared behind his ingenious grin. Moments blended together as the tune continued. Peach's hum matching and catching Lemmy's. The synergy of music beautified the visible area. A claw, held up by Ludwig, playing director. Time halted to the beautiful melody. Peach's hands gently holding Lemmy; her head softly moving to the tune. Her sky blue eyes peaked out from under her eye-lids. Wet, blurry vision captured peace. The peace of their melody changing the very world around them. The composing claw of Ludwig fell into her peripheral. A soft laugh caught in the back of her mind; drowned in motherly pink.
The hum softened, the tune coming to a piano coda. Lemmy's hum ended. His head still swayed with the tune. Peach's solo began, though briefly, as she held out her notes for the finale. A fresh breeze carried her lovely note. The wind caressed her flowing hair. The vibrating air in her throat calmed. The world returned to her blue eyes. Soft whispers of wind and ideas entered into her ears. Her soft, benevolent gaze fell to Lemmy. "That was amazing." She sighed; her voice still signing.
Lemmy giggled. His back, shell-free, snuggled further into his mother's embrace. "Yeah!" He grinned.
"I may not be as musically inclined as Ludwig, but I will say that even I found myself bewitched." Iggy claimed. His presence seemingly appearing out of thin air.
"Iggy!" Peach gasped; her face still gleaming in motherly charm. Her heart jumped in surprise. The green haired Koopaling sank into her vision. His ruffled mane, broken glasses, soot covered skin. "Iggy! What on earth happened to you?!" Peach shouted; her voice steeped in worry.
Iggy's shoulders raised in a shrug. "I was just working on something for your and Father's vacation. As you can tell, things went a little out of control." He replied. An irritated sigh flew from his tiny chest. His face scrunched as Mama Peach's hand roughly moved across his cheek.
"You are absolutely dirty! What is this? Dirt? No, soot!?" Peach rattled. Her fingers aggressively attempting to clean his face. "And your glasses! Iggy, how can you see?"
"Mo-m-mother!" Iggy spurted. His feet stepped back in the grass; a small indentation left where he stood. "I'm absolutely fine, and not to worry! I have plenty more pairs in my room." He smiled.
"That's not the point, Iggy!" Peach started. Motherly anger blazed behind her eyes. "Why are you doing something so dangerous in the first place?! What if you had gotten hurt! I didn't even know where you were! How could I have helped you if you got hurt?!" A torrent mixture of fear, anger, and care ripped through her nerves. The flooded system spurned a confusing prattle inside her mind. Her very words haunted the inside of her thoughts.
"There's no need to worry, Mother…" Iggy shied. His lens-free eyes shifted towards his toes. Green hair fell forward in response.
"I am your mother! It's my right and duty to worry!" Peach shouted, shocking herself. Her love for the koopalings had evolved in her subconscious. No longer were they simply her husband's children; they were now hers. "And…and…what on earth were you even doing to cause this?!" She stumbled. Her lips caught up in her shock. Words caught in her throat before splashing out.
Iggy watched. A confused smile grazed across his face. Silence fell between the mother and child. The awkward pressure caused Lemmy to shift uncomfortably in his mother's lap. "Uh…well, like I said…" Iggy fumbled. His body still recovering from shock. "I was trying to work on an invention for the vacation that we planned for Father and you. I thought you would be able to use it and enjoy yourself, but the test runs failed spectacularly as you can tell."
"Vacation? For Bowser and I?" Peach questioned. A flash of her husband's smug grin appeared behind her eyes. A ripple of discomfort and comfort swayed in her heart. Confusion erupted inside her mind from the ever-changing emotions. "Since when did you children plan a vacation for us?" She pressed, attempting to ignore her own confusion.
Iggy's head slowly turned to his eldest brother. The blue-haired brother completely absorbed by his own thoughts. "I was under the impression that ol' Ludwig here had informed you that, as an apology for not attending the crowning ceremony, we were planning a vacation for you both to enjoy." His deadpan gaze shifted back towards his mother. A smirk plastered on his face. "Think of it like a Honeymoon."
"A Honeymoon?!" Peach shouted. Her surprise jolted the little Koopaling out of her lap. Her naked hands completely covered her mouth. Blood rushed to her cheeks. The heat of her face rose; the tip of her nose turning a blush red.
"Yes, a honeymoon." Iggy nodded. His face bore the confusion he felt inside. "Since you are both newlyweds, we wanted you to enjoy yourselves. Still, I am amazed that," Iggy paused, his stare returning to his brother, "someone didn't tell you."
A crude cough escaped Ludwig's throat. His eyes shifted from his musical notes in the dirt to Iggy. "Since you seem so perturbed and adamant, allow me to unfold my defense. I, in fact, did tell Mother of our schemes. I exhausted no expense to relay our intentions. However, Mother's attention appeared to be elsewhere during my riveting explanation. As such, it was necessary for me to, how you say, drag her back to reality after my tale was told. Therefore, Mother-dearest must have simply not heard me. However, as I said, I did inform her." He stated, bluntly.
The blush on Peach's face intensified as she listened to Ludwig's explanation. Her mind ran back to earlier that morning. 'I guess I did miss it' she thought, embarrassed. A canine bit into her lower lip. Her face hardly hiding the inner struggle she found herself in. Peach could feel the ducts of her eyes begin to fill. "Um…" Peach attempted. Her voice caught inside her throat. Discomfort, pain, and sadness enveloped her nerves. 'How do I tell them…that…' she worried. Bowser's grin, dripping with romance, sank into the corner of her mind.
"We know, Mother." Ludwig said.
Peach threw her gaze at her eldest. Her eyes betraying her. "Huh?" she exhaled. Her chest deflating from the loss of air. The twitch of her eyes blinking away tears. She watched as Ludwig nodded, before going back to his notes.
Another sigh seeped through Iggy's teeth. "What my antisocial brother is trying to say, Mother, is that we are aware that you do not love Father. We know that this marriage was sort of forced upon you. Well, everybody except Lemmy. He's sort of dumb and innocent that way. He doesn't understand more adult nuances and such." Iggy explained.
Lemmy huffed as he stomped up to his twin. "I'm not dumb!" Lemmy replied angrily. His teeth exposed through his open frown.
"You're right." Iggy shrugged before flashing a smile to his twin. "You're not dumb, you're just simply not as smart as the rest of us. Well, except Morton. He's an imbecile, but Wendy ended up explaining to him what was really going on."
A puff of smoke escaped Lemmy's mouth. His eye turned away. "I'm not dumb." he repeated before stomping off. His vision caught his favorite ball laying in the grass.
Iggy and Peach watched silently as Lemmy ran happily towards his ball. Iggy's sight returned to Mama Peach. "Well, as I was saying, we know you don't love Father. Yet, that is. But, we figured that you would still like to have a get-away vacation where you can more easily get used to your new accommodations." Iggy continued.
Peach sat, Iggy's words sinking into her mind. The worry she had seemingly shrinking in her heart. 'They knew?' she thought. A sense of comfort dripped into her worried nerves. Her son's words played again and again in her mind. "Well, that's…" Peach stuttered. Her vision fell on the grass below her. A nervous sigh escaped her lips. "Where will we be going?" She asked, her vision slightly perking up.
"Sorry, Mother, but that is part of the surprise!" Iggy smiled.
A light giggle left her chest. "Of course it is." Peach flashed an awkward smile. Her eyes struggled to maintain eye-contact with her son. "Am I allowed to know WHEN we will leave, at least?" She played. Her hand poked the Koopaling in the shoulder.
A chuckle passed through Iggy's lips. A childish smile passed his face. "It won't be until next week, Mother. We all believe that you will really enjoy it." He laughed.
"Next week huh?" Peach sighed. Her eyes glanced up towards the sky. Her blue watching the blue air. Iggy's words remained in her mind. A guilty twitch shivered across her lip. "Iggy, I'm sorry." She stated, confused. Emotions whipped about inside her mind. Her thoughts in complete disarray.
"For what?" Iggy puzzled. His green mane titled to one side.
"That, well," Peach paused. Her face scrunched slightly. The muscles in her brow tensed. "For not loving your father." She finished. Her guilt clung to each word. As her confusion increased, so did her guilt. 'I shouldn't feel guilty…but…he's their father…' she fought inside herself. Emotions clashed against each other.
"That's fine, Mother." Iggy replied, his smile returned. His eyes visible through broken glass. "Like I said, that's only for now." A sneaky grin flashed on his lips.
