AN: Well look at that, not a bad reception for a short ass chapter from an unknown writer haha! Looks like my writing really has improved over the years I was gone? Anyways let's get to some reviews!

Bixby37: Who doesn't love a good tragedy?

EternalInternalScreaming: There's not enough good Jaungst on this site, I'm gonna try my hardest to remedy that.

0akarigan0: Wow I didn't really expect any international love, I appreciate it! My main focus with this story is to show how dangerous a huntsmans' career is, I can't spoil more than that lol.

TemPexal: Totally understandable, I thought he was a 3d render until I found out otherwise. Makes me chuckle every time I see a meme.

X3runner: Wow I didn't even think about that, but now it gives me some ideas ;) RIP Miura Kentaro

To end off this AN I'd like to announce a few things. I have to go to court this upcoming Tuesday to act as a witness for my parents' divorce. Unfortunately, I am testifying against my father for reasons I will not go into, but I also live with him. I am unsure as to how he is going to react and what my living situation will be in the next week, so please forgive me if I can't pump out another chapter for a little while until I figure things out.

Thank you.

Chapter 1

Fading Life

Stepping off of the bullhead should have been a relief. It should have lifted the stress and pain from his shoulders. He was finally home.

Home. Would it ever be a home again?

Jaune's musings went unnoticed to all but himself as he stepped off the bullhead, eyes glazed and seeming to stare far, far into the distance where none else could see.

"...ne...aune...Jaune!" he heard a familiar voice as his eyes seemed to gain some sort of clarity. Looking down he saw none other than his fellow leader from across the hall. He stepped forward with a tired looking smile and pulled her into a hug.

'Why can I only feel one of my a-... Oh that's right.' he glanced behind Ruby's back, where he saw one strong calloused hand and veiny forearm and shifted his vision slightly to the left.

"Jaune is everything okay? Where are Ren and Nora? Where's Pyrrha?" Ruby tried not to bombard him with questions, he was very obviously injured, tired and sore. She felt warm drops of water quickly turning cold against her skin, making her shudder, before she looked up at the face of the yellow haired leader holding on to her for dear life.

Jaune was bawling, looking past Ruby at the alabaster white of Beacon's tower, while tears ran down his cheeks and snot ran from his nose and over his lips, set in a grimace trying not to make any noise. She felt him start to tremble, shaking as if he were bare naked in the middle of Atlas. His weight pressing down upon her, she could feel him start to collapse.

Knees failing him, Jaune leaned up against Ruby, trying his hardest to stay standing. She couldn't take his weight, coming in at two times what she weighed and standing a full head taller, she began to falter. She began to lead him slowly to the ground, so as to not suddenly collapse under his weight, until she was able to gently set him on the floor. She took a good look at him, gandering at the tear tracks down his face and looking at his grimy hair, matted to his face and turned dark yellow from dirt and the sweat he had shed.

"Ah shit he's unconscious! I thought we stabilized him on the bullhead?" she heard a voice behind her. Glancing back she saw a red cross on the bullhead's side.

'A medical transport? They came back on a medical transport? Was their mission that dangerous?' Ruby thought to herself, getting startled as one of the two medics lightly grasped her shoulder.

"Young lady I'm going to have to ask you to move and let us take care of this, the young man needs to be transported to the medical facility where he can get proper treatment ASAP." he calmly stated, trying not to incite a freakout.

Ruby nodded numbly and took some steps back from Jaune's unconscious body, watching as the two medics loaded his body onto a stretcher and took off running, over to the medical facility.

'Wait if Jaune is injured, where is the rest of his team?!' Ruby raced to the open doors of the medical transport and checked all corners of the mobile facility. Her heart racing she tried not to think the worst. 'They must still be in the field, there's no way…'

She took out her scroll typing a message to her teams' group chat.

Team meeting in the cafeteria, NOW!

15 Minutes Later, Cafeteria

"What do you mean Jaune came back all by himself on a medical transport!" a blonde exclaimed loudly, garnering the attention of others around her.

"Yes Ruby, there's no way Jaune would ever come back alone from a mission." the white haired one stated.

The black haired one sat there, one eyebrow raised and the rest of her focus on the book in her hands.

"Guys, you have to understand, Jaune..Jaune was missing an arm and there was nobody else on the transport, I checked every square inch of that ship. He...he cried himself unconscious in my arms…" Ruby was almost in tears as she recounted the recent experience.

"The others must still be on their mission, they must have just sent Jaune back because he was too hurt to keep going." Yang said soothingly, trying to calm down her younger sister. 'Sheesh, this is really getting to her head.' she thought.

"Calm down Ruby. Have you forgotten who his team is? His partner is THE Pyrrha Nikos, plus, Ren and Nora are very formidable in their own rights." Weiss said, seeing the tears in her eyes and trying her best to explain logically why she shouldn't be freaking out.

"Jaune's gonna have it tough though, now that he only has one arm." Blake pointed out before returning her attention to her book.

She had no idea what they were in store for.

Medical Facility, Beacon Grounds

"Hold him down, he can't be thrashing around like this!" a doctor yelled, trying to gain control of the situation.

"What do you think I'm doing! Do you see how big this kid is? I'm trying my hardest but you need to call for backup!" the nurse accompanying the doctor yelled back.

Reaching for the phone inside of the operating room, the doctor quickly yelled out a few commands over the intercom.

"We have a code white in room A-85, restraints and sedatives needed immediately!"

The sounds of rushing feet could be heard down the hallway, 4 more nurses walking fast-paced towards the aforementioned room, one carrying aura cancelling restraints and another the requested sedatives.

They herded into the room, quickly grabbing one flailing limb each and holding them down, while another nurse started tying the boys' limbs to the bed frame. Finally after getting all of his limbs properly tied down, one of the nurses grabbed a needle and poked it into his thigh, pressing against the release until all of the liquid flowed into his bloodstream.

After a full minute, he finally calmed, and proceeded to fall unconscious once again. All of the medical personnel in the room let their tense shoulders fall, a collective sigh coming from each mouth.

"Alright, thank you, all of you are dismissed. I need to finish cleaning the infection in his arm. Stupid kid cauterized it instead of letting the emergency team stitch him up." the doctor gave one more exasperated groan collecting his assistant and operating away on the blonde teenager.

AN: Just another short author's note. I'm gonna try and pump out at least one chapter a week. It really only takes me about 6 hours to finalize my ideas in my head and write them down, then I take another 2 hours to spellcheck and add any details I think fit or that I forgot. Then I'll take the remaining days in the week to brainstorm and come up with an idea for the next chapter.

Don't get your hopes up though, I already explained in the AN above. These are just my plans for the future.

Thanks,

FatBuddha
