Author Note: I've been so anxious and excited to post this. I hope I managed to explain her reasoning correctly. I didn't want to make her a fully bad person. Not the type to hit a child or cause them physical hard. I wanted to express more that she's disinterested and likes the idea of being with Sasuke and not who he is. Doesn't really care about joining their lives together (including taking into account Aiko) and more just trying to mold him into what she wants him to be. And what she thinks would make everything perfect in her world.
Your interest and words mean to much to me :)
Sasuke drove away from his mother's house taking deep breaths. He knew that tonight was going to be horrendous. It was going to happen. He would be ending his engagement and breaking up with Sakura and it was not going to go well. He wished it all just magically ended, and he wouldn't need to go through the messiness. But he was determined, and he needed to do this. He needed to just be free. And having the possibility that Naruto might date him in the future was a perk, but not the sole reason for him doing this.
Maybe it was the liquid courage his mother had given him earlier? All of the bullshit built up over time. His mother had warned him that she might throw multiple excuses and threats as to why the relationship shouldn't end. He was ready for anything between I'm pregnant and I'm going to kill myself if you leave me.
He hadn't even spoken to Itachi about all of this yet. His brother had been on a retreat to 'go find himself' for the past month so their communication was limited. Plus Sasuke felt all of this was more of a face-to-face conversation. Itachi was going to lose his shit when he found out everything that was happening.
Sasuke anxiously kept checking the time. She would be getting out of work soon and he sent her a text, letting her know he'd be at her place, even though he knew she wouldn't be checking her phone until after her shift. Despite everything she loved her job and was trying to impress some of the best doctors in her hospital.
As he parked, he noticed her car was there. It was a very distinct Mercedes. Pink. Like everything in her damn life. He lifted his phone again and called her, but it went to voicemail. He felt dread creeping in his stomach, knowing that the moment she opened the door and he told her what he was there for, it was going to get chaotic. He knocked on the door, about to pull his key out when the door opened
The door opened to a man. A very naked man holding Sakura's bubblegum pink bed sheet against his crotch.
Sasuke felt his brain flatline and he had to do a double-take, "Who are you?"
The man spoke in the most exciting voice Sasuke had ever heard, "I'm Lee. Are you a friend of Sakura's?"
Sasuke was still trying to gather his thoughts, "No? Where's Sakura?"
Lee grinned, "One second. Blossom!" He called out. "You have a visitor."
Sakura approached the door as Lee swung it open wearing a sating robe with a fucking babydoll underneath. Her jade eyes widened in shock, "Sa – Sasuke! What – " At least she had the decency to look bewildered.
Sasuke's brain eventually caught up and he took in exactly what was happening. None of this was what he was prepared for, yet Sakura had unknowingly handed him the perfect reason with a bow on top. His mouth curled into a sinister smile, "Hello, fiancé."
Lee snapped his neck to Sakura, "Fiancé?!" His thick eyebrows pinched in shock, "You have a fiancé?! You said you were single!"
Yet Sakura just pushed him to the side, "Shut up Lee!" She tried to grab Sasuke's hands. "Sasuke, sweetheart. It's not what you think! I just – this is nothing! Just a meaningless fling!"
Sasuke glanced at Lee's heartbroken expression. The man's voice dripped with hurt. "A fling? We've been dating for 3 months blossom." He tried to get Sakura to look at him, but she only looked at Sasuke. Sasuke could practically see the wheels turning in her head.
She snarled when she saw Lee still standing there, "Lee! Get the fuck out."
Sasuke chuckled, "No no. Lee, please stay. Tell me all about it." He walked into the apartment, sidestepping Sakura's insistent touch.
"I'll go put some clothes on. I just – need a moment." The poor guy looked on the verge of tears and Sasuke felt bad for him. He couldn't imagine the pain and shock the guy was going through.
Sakura was scrambling, trying to figure out how to fix this. She started picking up random clothes off the floor and Sasuke raised an eyebrow. It was obvious they'd had sex on the couch too.
She tried to cup Sasuke's cheeks but he pulled back with a snarl, "Don't touch me."
She clenched her fists, "Sasuke. Baby. Please listen to me. It's nothing. Lee is a nobody. I love you!"
Sasuke smirked, "Have you told him that?" He tskd, "Poor guy. He really seems to like you."
She huffed, "I don't care. I only want to be with you."
The I don't care fueled the bubbling rage. That distraught guy was definitely smitten by her and she was ready to just dump him to the side. Just like everything that didn't fit into her 'perfect' life.
He chuckled incredulously, "You don't care? Well I fucking care and I'm sure he –" he pointed to where Lee was still in the room, " – does too. I was wrecking my brain, trying to figure out how to break our engagement and you're over here fucking someone else."
Sakura's eyes widened in disbelief and anger, "What?!"
"I was feeling guilty for lik – you know what, never mind. If you weren't happy you should've broken up with me. This is fucking ridiculous." He ran his hand through his hair. He was already so drained over all this.
Lee came back, tears falling from his cheeks and Sasuke felt so damn bad for the guy because Sakura just looked at him like he was meaningless. "I'm leaving, I can't be here."
He headed to the door and Sasuke placed a hand on his shoulder, shaking his head. "Lee, she's not worth it."
The man somberly nodded as he exited the apartment. Sasuke hoped for his sake that he forgot about Sakura.
Sakura whirled around, waving her finger at him. "You want to break our engagement? No! I refuse."
Sasuke already felt a headache spreading from all the screaming, "Why didn't you break up with me?"
"I didn't want to!" She tightened her robe around her. "It's just that you don't pay attention to me. I don't even think you see me when we have sex. That you even want me."
He narrowed his eyes, "So you find it somewhere else? That's the genius solution?"
Sakura grasped her hands together and placed them on her chest, "It was just temporary! I knew everything would be perfect when we got married and had a baby."
"You think that would fix it?!" He snarled in disbelief. "That's not a reason to have a baby!"
Tears tracked down her face. "But that's what's holding you back!"
In what world did she live in that she thought that would magically fix their relationship? A relationship he didn't even realize needed fixing because it wasn't as perfect as Sakura wanted. "This is the dumbest shit I've ever heard."
"No, it's not! You don't show me off, you don't even like to shop with me or – "
"What the fuck does shopping have to do with this?"
She clenched her fist against her chest, "You don't spoil me. You don't randomly surprise me or even take me out without me suggesting it. Your definition of fun is going to a museum."
The argument was going nowhere and Sasuke had heard enough. The longer he stayed the more his head pounded against his temples and really everything was already said that needed to be said. "Okay, we're going in circles. The wedding is off. The engagement is off. We're over."
Sakura tried to grab him again but he leaned back, aiming for the door. "Sasuke – "
He shook his head, "There's no changing my mind. Don't bother. Keep the fucking ring for all I care." He threw the door open and left before she could mutter another word. He started the car and sped off, wanting to leave the area as soon as possible.
The first person he thought about telling was Karin since Itachi was away and his mother would show up at Sakura's door enraged. He needed a drink and to vent. She opened the door before he even made it there.
Her fiery red hair was pulled up in a messy bun and her skin had sleep marks. She'd obviously been sleeping. "Dude. What the fuck."
"I need a fucking drink."
She cackled and let him in. The house was quiet and he looked around. He trailed behind her to the kitchen as she fixed him a drink. "Where's Aiko and Sui?"
"Sleeping. She went to bed early. Suigetsu is still at work." She pointed to the backyard with her chin. "Let's go by the pool."
She finished preparing the drink and poured him a shot, bringing the bottle as they took a seat on the lounge chairs. The weather was perfect, not too hot or cold with a nice breeze.
Karin was anxious to know the gossip, "Alright spill, all I got was an on my way text."
Sasuke took a shot and refilled it, enjoying the burn in his throat. "I broke up with Sakura."
Karin hooted in excitement, "Fuck yeah!"
He smirked evilly, "That's not all."
She waited with bated breath, knowing that the dumbass was enjoying her anticipation.
"I went to her place, I thought she was still at work and was going to do it there when she got out. Ended up catching her fucking a dude."
Karin's jaw dropped and she blinked a couple of times. "I'm sorry, what?!"
He took another shot and nodded, "Yeah. The guy was so shocked, and he cried, Karin. Looked like a nice guy. They'd been dating for 3 months and he had no clue."
"She told him she was single huh? That slimy bitch." Karin felt so fucking bad for the guy. He must be so distraught.
"Then she says that it was temporary until we got married and had a baby. Because that's the reason our relationship isn't perfect and it's what's holding me back."
She scoffed, "Holding you back from what exactly?"
Sasuke pinched his nose, he was so exhausted. The entire situation had drained him completely. "I don't know Karin. Giving her attention? Spoiling her? I don't know."
Karin gently punched his arm, "How do you feel?"
"Honestly? Relieved. Like a weight has come off my shoulders."
"Yeah see that's how you know the relationship wasn't good. Dude, you're not even upset she cheated."
He twirled the ice in his drink, "I mean I am upset."
"Are you hurt that she betrayed you? Wholeheartedly devastated that this person you love did this?"
Sasuke's pause spoke volumes, yet he knew he could be honest with Karin. "I'm more upset that I wasted my time". He ran a hand through his hair. "That she said those things in front of Naruto."
Karin nodded, remembering when Sasuke told her about it. "But now you can take your time and get to know Naruto aaaand – ". She poked him. "Ask him out on a date."
He waved her hand away, "I don't know. I don't think he'd want to after everything with Sakura."
Her eyes shined with mischief, "Nah. He'll want to. He likes you a lot."
Sasuke rolled his eyes, "I doubt it." He'd always been a confident person, but lately, he'd been feeling unsure and insecure about a lot of things. Mainly just the blindness that he was settling and that he wasn't good enough to be with Naruto. Didn't deserve that beautiful ethereal man.
"Well, I'm going to invite him over this week."
He suddenly perked up and Karin pointedly laughed at him. Sasuke scowled and chugged his drink down.
Karin took the opportunity, "Actually, I wanted to tell you. I'm pregnant."
Well, another surprise of the night. Sasuke deadpanned, "Is it mine?"
She smacked him in the head, "You think you're so funny."
He chuckled as wrapped his arm around her shoulders, "Congratulations, seriously. How did Suigetsu take it?"
"The idiot fainted."
"Sounds like him." He was also the type to bawl his eyes out and scream it from the rooftops.
"Have you told Aiko?" Sasuke wondered how she was going to take the news. Excitement? Jealousy?
"Not yet, I wanted to have a dinner with like a cake. Make it exciting."
Well, that was the best bribe. Sasuke raised an eyebrow, "Aiko and cake? Yeah, she'd be excited about anything at that point."
She smirked, "And now I can invite Naruto."
Sasuke wondered how that was going to go. How would Naruto find out? Through Sakura? Should he tell him? Would Karin do it? How would Naruto take the news? Would he care? He couldn't help but doubt Karin's words. There was no way Naruto would want to date him.
Right?
