As long as his younger siblings are safe and cared for, Hitoshi doesn't care about what happens to himself. They are his heart and soul and he will protect them with his entire being. They asked him to be a hero, so he will be one. But Hitoshi never expected to truly be accepted. It throws him for a loop when he transfers to Class 1-A.

The sludge villain incident happens a year earlier and Izuku attempts suicide. He ends up partially paralyzed from the waist down. Inko, wanting him to be more independent, decides a service dog would be good.
