A Final Update
To all the readers who have followed my fics: it has been roughly a year since I last published any new chapters, and I feel that warrants an explanation.
Put simply, I came to the terrible realization that Canon RWBY, as it stands, is fundamentally and terminally flawed. I use these strong adverbs because the issues that plague the show go back to the very beginning, right down to the first episode (to say nothing of the later volumes!). And because my fics were built on this foundation, they too are plagued by these flaws.
Now, I am human (as you might have guessed). I recognize that my works are going to be flawed no matter what I do, and that's okay. I'll live. But I am also a storywriter with standards for his work, and I will not abide any story of mine being flawed in such an egregious manner!
And yet...RWBY still holds a place in my heart, if perhaps smaller than before. Monty Oum really gave it his all into making a wonderful, original work of art that he loved - like I one day wish to do. And by all that is holy, was he thrown under the bus for it. His work and effort was used to prop up a terrible story filled with characters who at the end of the day are just...bland.
So, here is what I am going to do: effective immediately, I am discontinuing my current two stories, this one included. It was honestly something I had decided on many months ago, but I am now making it official to dispel any illusion of continuation, as well as for the respect of my readers whom I treasure. I know that many of you loved what I wrote, and I am very sorry to disappoint you like this after going silent for as long as I did. Because of that, I am not going to delete the stories, in part for your sake, and in part so that they may serve as visible markers of my writing skill and progress.
But here is what I am NOT going to do, and that is stop writing!
As a few of you might have noticed, I am currently working on a new project: a fic that goes back to the very beginning of Canon and fixes the many issues plaguing it. You could say that, in a sense, the story is being remastered. Of course, it's highly unlikely I'll get it all right, but what I am certain of is that this work will surpass anything I have published on this platform to date. So, not to appear overconfident, but I should think you are all in for a well-deserved treat! I have already finished the first chapter, to which I am putting the link below.
When it all comes down to it, I write and create for the enjoyment of others. In that regard I wish to emulate my Father in Heaven, who spun together the stars and painted each flower of the meadows - all for our delight and his. So if I can conjure even a shadow of that giving spirit and make your day with a story, know then that my joy is complete!
