Magnus walks down the hallway and stops at the door. He was going to show up yesterday afternoon, but Max talked him out of it. Alec would have been too tired.

Magnus takes a deep breath as he stares at the door. Should he knock or ring the bell? Magnus mentally shakes his head. He's a centuries old warlock, not a love struck teenage girl. He knocks on the door twice.

After a couple of minutes, the door opens as Magnus holds his breath. Alec smiles at him, "Hello, are you the new neighbor that moved down the hall?"

Magnus stares into warm hazel eyes and is tempted to lie, instead all he can do is shake his head, "No." He watches as Alec's smile disappears. A thought pops into Magnus' head to get it to return, "I'm a friend of Mikey's."

Alec's smile not only returns but is brighter, "Are you Max?"

Magnus laughs, "No, I'm not. I'm Magnus."

"Mikey never mentioned a Magnus." Alec sighs, "Must be one of those things Mikey wasn't allowed to tell me." Alec grabs Magnus' wrist, "Any friend of Mikey's is a friend of mine. Come in." He pulls Magnus into his apartment and closes the door, "Nice to meet you, Magnus."

"It's nice to finally meet you."

Alec raises an eyebrow, "Oh?"

Magnus quickly smiles, "Mikey has been talking my ear off about you, so I figured it was time I dropped by."

Alec laughs, "Mikey is sweet."

Magnus snorts, "Maybe to you."

"Not sure what that means, but I was on my way to Dunkin, care to join me?"

Magnus smiles as he recalls what Max said about 'Alec' and coffee, "I would love to."

"Awesome." Alec grabs his keys from the table then walks back to the door, "Shall we?"

"We shall." Magnus follows Alec out the apartment.

Alec locks the door, then they walk down the hallway to the elevator, "So Magnus, how do you know Mikey?"

Magnus quickly says, "I'm a friend of his fathers."

"Oh really? He won't tell me anything about them. Or I should say that Max told him that he can't say anything." He winks at Magnus, "Can you tell me?"

Magnus laughs, "Sorry, Max has ordered me to keep my mouth shut as well."

The elevator arrives and they step in. Alec sighs, "Max seems like a bossy person."

"He's not."

The elevator gets to the ground floor and they step off. Alec smiles at Magnus, "You met him?"

Magnus holds the door for Alec, then they walk down the street, "I have."

"And?"

Magnus laughs, "No sir, I'm not going to get in trouble."

Alec winks, "I won't tell."

"Nope, sorry. You might say something to Mikey then it gets back to Max and I have both of them coming after me. Not going to happen."

They stop at the corner and wait for the light to change. Alec looks at him, "You're serious?"

"Yes I am."

Alec sighs as they cross the street, "Fine, I'll let it go."

"Thank you."

"So can you tell me what YOU do?"

Magnus laughs, "Yes I can. I own a nightclub in Brooklyn."

"Interesting. I guess Mikey told you that I'm an assistant DA?"

Magnus nods, "Yes he did. That's a respectable job."

Alec laughs as he holds the door to Dunkin for Magnus, "Thank you."

Magnus smiles, "You're welcome." They walk to the counter.

Veronica smiles, "Good morning gentlemen, what can I get you?"

Alec smiles at Magnus, "After you."

Magnus smiles, "I'll take a large coffee with milk and one sugar."

Veronica nods, "Anything else?"

"And a corn muffin."

"Got it, and you sir?"

Alec smiles, "An extra large coffee, no milk, three sugars. And I'll take two Boston Cremes, please." He reaches into his shirt pocket and takes out a credit card. He hands it to Veronica.

Magnus smiles, "Thank you."

"You're welcome. After all, I invited you."

"Yes, but only because I showed up at your door."

Alec laughs as he takes his card and receipt from Veronica, "True. But you know Mikey."

Magnus winks, "I knew the password."

Alec smiles, "Yes you did." Veronica hands them their food and coffees. Magnus takes the bags while Alec holds the cups. They walk to the tables and sit down. Magnus sits with his back to the wall as Alec sits across from him.

Alec places Magnus' coffee in front of him and Magnus hands him the bag with his donuts. They remove the lids from their coffees and eat their breakfast.

Magnus smiles, "You must love coffee."

Alec laughs, "This is my first of the day. Even though it's Saturday, I'll probably have three or four."

"And during the week?"

"Closer to six."

"That's a lot of coffee."

Alec nods, "When I'm at work, it's all I eat during the day."

"That's not healthy."

Alec shrugs, "I get so wrapped up in a case, I forget about food."

"You need someone to take care of you."

"Yeah, that's what my sister says."

Magnus smiles, "What's her name?"

"Izzy, short for Isabelle. I also have a brother, Jace. You have any brothers or sisters, Magnus?"

"No, I'm an only child."

Alec nods, "That's sad. I want to have lots of children. What about you?"

Magnus laughs, "This is only our first meal, Alec and you are talking about children?"

Alec blushes, "I wasn't talking about us having children. I just meant in general."

Magnus smiles, "I would love to have lots of children in general or with you."

Magnus senses the familiar wave of powerful magic and looks around. Mikey is sitting at a table by the window. Magnus doesn't remember that table being there, when he and Alec walked in. Mikey isn't paying attention to them, he's looking outside. Out the corner of his eye, Magnus sees Alec stand up, "Where you going?"

Alec smiles, "Forgot napkins." He walks away from their table.

Mikey quickly turns his head in their direction. Purple eyes fix on Alec then look around him. Seeing that he's not in danger, Mikey smiles as he watches Alec walk to the counter.

Magnus once again wonders about the ShadowHunter, a Lightwood no less, that has not one, but two warlock children devoted to him. Magnus chuckles to himself, he forgot Maxine. It's easy to assume that she is also devoted to her ShadowHunter father. Magnus is sure that Isidore Lightwood would have cut his arms off before holding a warlock child. He can't help but smile brightly at the warmth in Mikey's eyes.

"What you smiling about?"

Magnus laughs as Alec sits back down, "Just thinking how wonderful it is to have breakfast with an attractive man."

Alec raises an eyebrow, "You flirting with me?"

"Maybe."

Alec laughs, "You don't want to do that."

"And why not?"

Alec shrugs, "I'm not much of a catch."

Magnus sniffs, "Nonsense. You're beautiful, have a respectable job and a great sense of humor. Just what I'm looking for."

"More flirting."

Magnus smiles, "Not a question."

Alec smiles, "No it wasn't." Magnus laughs.

Alec and Magnus finish their breakfast and gather their trash. They stand and walk over to the garbage can. Magnus notices that Mikey, and the table, are gone. But he's sure that the other warlock is nearby. Alec holds the door for him as they leave Dunkin.

Alec turns to him and smiles, "This was fun, but I have work to do."

Magnus raises an eyebrow, "It's Saturday, I'm sure the courts are closed."

"Oh they are, but I have cases to go over."

"Nonsense, you've worked hard all week, today you should relax."

Alec sighs, "I have a ton of research to do, Magnus."

"Even more reason for you to enjoy one day off."

"With you?"

Magnus smiles, "Of course."

"Fine, but I need to work on these cases tomorrow."

"Deal."

"Ok then, I'm all yours."

Magnus smiles, "I do like the sound of that."

Alec laughs, "Still flirting."

Magnus laughs, "Always." He reaches for Alec's hand and gives it a squeeze, "Ready to relax?"

Alec nods, "Yes, I am."

Magnus smiles as they walk down the street to the subway entrance, "Your chariot awaits."

Alec laughs as they go down the stairs.

The taxi stops and Alec steps out as Magnus pays the driver. Alec stretches. They spent the day at the Museum of Natural History, then ate a late dinner at Lucciola. Now all he wants to do is sleep. Magnus reaches for his hand. Alec smiles, "I enjoyed my day off."

Magnus laughs as they walk to Alec's building holding hands, "I told you."

They walk in and go over to the elevator. It arrives and they step in. Alec nods, "Yes you did."

They get off on Alec's floor then walk to his apartment. Alec takes out his keys and unlocks the door. Magnus smiles, "We should go to the Brooklyn Museum."

"Yes, but not tomorrow."

Magnus pouts, "I was kind of hoping you forgot about our 'deal'."

Alec laughs, "Sorry." He leans over and gently kisses Magnus' lips, "Good night, Magnus."

Magnus stares at him, "Good night, Alec."

Alec walks into his apartment then smiles at Magnus as he closes the door. Magnus stares at the door as Alec locks it.

Magnus nods as he turns away from the door and slowly walks to the elevator. He remembers Max saying that Alec was his 'soulmate'. He gets in the elevator. Now he understands why his counterparts fell in love with a ShadowHunter named Alec Lightwood. As the elevator goes down, Magnus smiles. For the first time in a long while, Magnus feels at peace. He steps out the elevator and leaves the building.

Magnus isn't surprised to see Mikey leaning against a car. He felt Mikey's presence many times while he and Alec were walking around the museum. He even caught a glimpse of Mikey outside the restaurant just before he and Alec got into the taxi. He smiles, "Good evening."

Mikey giggles as his eyes sparkle, "And a good evening to you, Magnus."

"I figured you would be here."

"Oh, why?"

Magnus winks, "You're Alec's guardian angel, watching over him."

"I am."

"So, now you're going to stay here all night?"

Mikey shakes his head, "No need to. I have wards on all the building entrances and his apartment door."

"That's how you knew he was home."

"Exactly."

"And tomorrow?"

"After going to Dunkin, he stays in the apartment working."

"He goes to Dunkin, with you watching over him."

"Of course."

"And Monday?"

Mikey giggles, "That I can't tell you."

"Why not?"

"Max says, you need to react naturally without any knowledge of what's going to happen."

Magnus glances at the building, then back at Mikey, "React to what?"

Mikey shakes his head, "Sorry."

Magnus takes a deep breath, "Fine. I guess I'll see you?"

"Sorry."

Magnus shakes his head, "You can't even tell me that?"

Mikey giggles, "No."

"You are my son."

Mikey giggles, "You silly." He kisses Magnus' cheek, "Good night."

Magnus smiles, "Good night, Mikey." Magnus opens a portal and walks through.

Mikey nods as the portal closes behind Magnus. The wards around Alec are in place. His 'other' fathers are safe for the night. Mikey opens a portal and walks through.

A week ago yesterday, Francesca798 commented, "Please update soon." on chapter 4. As it turns out, it was the kick in the ass that I needed to get back to work on this.

Hopefully I can keep going and get chapter 6 done just as fast.
