Harry's Dorm, 4/24/1997, 06:35,
Harry jerked awake hearing his mirror buzzing signalling that someone was callng him.
"Hello," Harry croaked out.
"What did you say to Remus?" An angry female voice demanded.
Harry opened his eyes blurily to see the angry face of Tonks staring at him, her hair was bright red a good sign she was very upset.
"We had a disagreement, why?" Harry asked his throat still a bit hoarse.
"Because he up and left right after he got off of the mirror with you," Tonks said.
"Probably went to Dumbledore, that's usually where he goes for advice," Harry said with a shrug.
"What did you two talk about?" Tonks pressed.
"We had a difference of opinion about werewolves and that's all you need to know," Harry said firmly.
"Fine, but we will talk about this soon," Tonks said before closing the connection.
"So Remus' girlfriend is on the warpath?" Lavender asked sleepily.
"It would appear so," Harry said crawling back under the covers.
"You know if he did go to Dumbledore then he will call you into his office soon," Lavender said into his chest.
"Ugh, I hope you're wrong," Harry said tiredly.
"Me too," Lavender said already falling back asleep.
Harry lay there looking at his sleeping mate for a bit longer before he too fell asleep.
Hogwarts Head's Office, 4/25/1997, 18:23
Lavender definitely had a gift for divination, after dinner professor Flitwick had informed him that the headmaster wished to see him.
So here he was taking a seat across from Albus Dumbledore waiting for the old man to speak.
"Mr. Potter, it is good to see you again," Dumbledore said politely.
"What is it you want, sir?" Harry asked having no interest in trading pleasantries with the man.
"Remus got in touch with me, he's worried about you," Albus said delicately.
"I'm not surprised he ran to you, he always put you on a pedestal," Harry said thoughtfully.
"He thinks your starting to lean the wrong way where your affliction is concerned," Dumbledore explained ignoring Harry's comment.
"Everyone is entitled to their opinion," Harry said with a shrug.
"And what is your opinion on werewolves and their interaction with the wizarding world?" Dumbledore asked pointedly.
"None of your business sir, to put it bluntly, you are a headmaster of this school, my private life is no concern of yours," Harry said in a polite tone.
"You are right of course, but Remus seemed worried that you were harboring some resentment towards the wizarding world," Dumbledore said sounding concerned.
"I am, but again that is my business," Harry said with a shrug.
"You are heading down a dangerous road, all of these radical werewolf packs started with those same ideals," Dumbledore warned.
"And yet nothing has changed wizards still look down on werewolves," Harry said with a shrug.
"But hating the wizarding world will not accomplish anything," Dumbledore implored.
"I don't hate the wizarding world, I just have no intention of letting anyone look down on me or mine for what we are," Harry said passionately.
"You must have patience, there will be great changes after Voldemort falls," Dumbledore assured him.
"Yes, because that worked out well last time, didn't Delores Umbridge pass an anti-werewolf bill in the summer of ninety-three preventing us from getting decent jobs and restricting where we can go and who we can marry?" Harry asked pointedly.
"Yes, but that bill can be overturned," Dumbledore answered.
"And just last December our minister passed an executive order preventing us from going to the hospital," Harry continued on.
"Yes, but again that can be overturned," Dumbledore answered.
"Then you have the purebloods treating us like lepers, scared we will attack them when we are only contagious one night a month, those same purebloods teach their children to fear us," Harry pressed on ignoring the old man's platitudes.
"That is something that will probably never change," Dumbledore admitted sadly.
"And you wonder why the werewolves pack together for safety and retreat into the forest to form their own communities," Harry said sarcastically.
"Which is a danger during the full moon as they are not contained," Dumbledore pointed out.
"We do not become wolves just to be locked in a cage, we are meant to run free!" Harry said angrily.
"And what of the innocents that stumble upon you by accident," Dumbledore asked looking worried.
"You're one to preach about innocent bystanders, do Katie Bell and Ron Weasley ring a bell?" Harry asked pointedly.
"I have dealt with the situation," Dumbledore said sounding annoyed.
"Yes, you had your pet death eater sneak him out of the castle in the dead of night and helped him avoid the two counts of attempted murder and one count of use of an unforgivable curse on another human being that he should have been tried for," Harry rebutted.
"I saved him from following in his father's footsteps," Dumbledore said stubbornly.
"What are you talking about, sir? His father avoided prison last time the same way, a corrupt member of the Wizengamot helped him get away with his crimes," Harry said coldly.
"I think this has gone on long enough, you may go," Dumbledore said realizing he was getting nowhere.
"Good day headmaster," Harry said stiffly before walking out of the office.
That was very worrying, the Potter boy was embracing his new lot in life, unlike Remus who saw it as his greatest shame.
Perhaps he wasn't the best person to have this talk with the boy, Mr. Potter made it no secret he despised the aged headmaster. That last comment really bothered Albus because as much as he hated to admit it it was spot on.
He had disregarded the laws he swore to uphold when he swore his oath as chief warlock. He knew that Draco should have been handed over to the ministry in September when Ms. Bell was attacked.
Still, it was done the Malfoy boy was long gone and he hoped that Draco would turn his life around.
The more pressing matter was the new wolf pack Mr. Potter was leading, as much as Dumbledore would like to interfere he knew it would do more harm than good.
Mr. Potter and Ms. Brown were a mated pair, they were considered married as far as magic was concerned, and attempting to split them up could get very messy.
Then there was the youngest Creevey boy, he really would need the protection Mr. Potter could offer.
Dennis Creevey was a muggleborn wizard and had already provoked the ire of the pureblooded children for attending the Easter ball with a daughter of one of the most prominent pureblood families in Britain.
Add in the fact that he wasn't particularly powerful magically and was now considered a dark creature, and the boy would be in serious danger without someone to look out for him.
No Albus' best bet for now was to stand back and observe, judging from the past Mr. Potter would protect young Dennis, he always seemed to look out for those that couldn't protect themselves.
'I hope I am not seeing the beginning of another Fenrir Greyback," Albus thought worriedly.
Malfoy Manor, Wiltshire, England, 4/30/1997, 23:16
"Ah, Fenrir how did you fare this time around?" Voldemort asked curiously.
"We have done well, I infected a few more to add to my pack," The werewolf said in his gravelly voice.
"Good, we have found a way into the castle now, I would like for you and your pack to pay them a visit on the next full moon," Voldemort said with a smirk.
"Excellent, what about the wolves already there," Greyback asked.
"Leave them be, they stay in the shrieking shack dosed with the potion," Voldermort instructed.
"As you wish," Fenrir said.
"Good, now send in Severus," Voldemort instructed.
"Alright," Greyback said as he stalked out of the room.
The werewolf was not awed by him and didn't grovel like his death eaters, this really irked Bellatrix but to be honest he found it refreshing not to have yet another sycophant lurking about. His musings of Greyback were interrupted when snape entered the room.
"You wished to speak with me, my lord?" Severus asked when he entered the makeshift throne room and kneeled before his master.
"Yes, I wish for you to kill Albus Dumbledore," Voldemort said looking snape in the eyes.
"When?" Severus asked keeping a calm expression on his face.
"The next full moon," Voldemort replied smiling.
"It will be done," Snape assured him.
"Good, there is much to do before that time, here is a list of potions and the quantities I need all of these but he felix prepared by the night of the full moon," Voldemort said handing Snape a scroll of parchment.
Snape unrolled the parchment and his eyebrows rose to his forehead, the list was long and would take many weeks' worth of brewing to complete.
"I will have it ready in time," Severus assured him.
"Good that will be all Severus, keep me informed of the potions progress," Voldemort said dismissing his servant.
Snape bowed himself out of the room knowing a dismissal when he heard one.
Minus the Malfoy boy and his mother fleeing from Britain his plans had been going very well over the past six months.
The werewolves were proving most effective at spreading fear in the public. The collars were proving very useful in controlling the pack and Fenrir had no idea he had signed over his freedom by donning the collar. Once their usefulness had run its course he could activate the runes embedded in the collars and kill them all with a press of his finger.
Then on the other front, he had his people deeply implanted in the ministry, Britain would fall by the end of summer. Yaxley would soon have the head of the D.M.L.E under his influence and the ministry would be his within a months time.
Now all he had to do was wait for the fall of the headmaster. Albus Dumbledore was the biggest threat to all of his plans and the reason they were moving so cautiosly.
If Severus was successful then he could advance his plans and hopefully have Hogwarts under control before September, and Severus would be rewarded and placed as headmaster of the school.
Then Neville Longbottom would have no one to protect him, he could finally finish the whelp off and remove all doubt that the boy was a threat to him.
Voldemort had heard the whispers since his return, his men doubted he could kill the boy after that escape in the graveyard and at one point he was ashamed to admit that he doubted it as well.
He doubted himself no longer, the headmaster and the chosen one were two obstacles he had to overcome to ensure his victory and he would be victorious.
'Your days are numbered Neville Longbottom," Voldemort thought to himself as he stroked a finger under Nagini's head.
D.A.D.A Office, Hogwarts, 5/1/1997, 23:45
Snape had begun brewing the first five potions on the list, he had been collecting the ingredients from all over the country as many of them were rare and difficult to locate.
He had also tracked down a one-milliliter vial of basilisk venom that had cost him what amounted to over two years' wages. Now he had to figure a way to get that filthy serpent to ingest it preferably before the full moon when he would be forced to kill his boss.
He never expected when he agreed to spy for Dumbledore in exchange for protecting the only real friend he ever had that his life would have dissolved into the nightmare it had become.
The strengthening potion was complete, that one was fifth year and very basic, even if he was making it in a massive batch.
The essence of rage was more complex but still reasonably simple for someone of his skill, though admittedly he hated making potions like this. The ingredients were so volatile that one slip up and Filch would be cleaning what was left of him up with a mop.
The real problem was that the dark lord had requested he begin brewing three cauldrons of felix felicis, that potion he was having to brew in his lab at Spinners End as it took six months to brew and pretty soon he would be persona non grata at Hogwarts.
The veritaserum took a full month to brew but with some ingredient manipulation, he could have it ready in time though he was fairly sure that this potion would not be put to use on the night of the full moon.
The wit sharpening potion was the one that required the real pricey ingredients, dragon and griffin claw were extortionately expensive by themselves but put together he wouldn't be able to afford them without Lucius' financial backing.
The last potion he was required to brew would be the polyjuice which was simple enough to brew but he would have to make his own adjustments to it or otherwise it wouldn't be ready in time similar to the veritaserum.
When he dreamed of becoming a potions master all those years ago this was not what he had in mind for himself. He wanted to invent potions to heal and save people, he wanted to brew his place in history, he wanted his work to mean something not mass produce potions to help a madman subjugate the wizarding world.
'I will be doing some good soon,' Snape said admiring the tiny amount of basilisk venom.
Great Hall, 5/2/1997, 12:38
Harry had been having a strange week, Tonks was calling him nightly trying to figure out any information on Remus.
Apparently, after running to Dumbledore Remus hadn't returned to headquarters. Harry was conflicted about this situation, he loved Remus as the man had helped Sirius raise him but after their last conversation was seeing him differently.
Truthfully the way Remus was acting was not a surprise, Remus had always had self-worth issues and Harry knew he was ashamed of what he was.
Harry just never really understood how bad Remus' problem was until he had been turned. The man was too stubborn so Harry knew there would be no reasoning with him about this.
Harry was not about to adopt Remus' philosophy of feeling ashamed of what he was so he wasn't sure how they could get past this.
Sirius seemed to be staying out of this and would be no help if Remus did return, he never did like taking sides when his friends argued.
Finally, Harry had to interfere in a confrontation between six fifth-year Slytherins and Dennis Creevey last Monday.
Harry and Lavender never had to deal with anything like this when news of their condition got out, Harry was feared by most of the school and he made it clear Lavender was with him.
Dennis didn't have that and the opportunist in the house of serpents saw this as permission to torment the third-year Gryffindor.
Harry had intervened but Dennis was still pretty badly hurt, Harry being who he was saw fit to provide Dennis with company in the infirmary.
"Wow, you look like your miles away," Lavender said taking her seat.
"Just reflecting, you're a bit late," Harry said taking a bite of his chicken sandwich.
"I had another reading in the crystal ball," Lavender said sounding concerned.
"What did you see?" Harry asked curiously.
"The full moon, then green lightning striking the castle," Lavender said.
Harry was about to dismiss this as he had no faith in the subject of divination, but something told him that would not be wise.
"The full moon, that gives us a specific date, isn't there a lightning-struck tower in the tarot cards?" Harry asked seriously.
"Yes, That's exactly what I thought," Lavender said looking relieved for some reason.
" What does it mean when you draw that card?" Harry asked.
"It stands for change, often abrupt or violent change, sometimes it means a death or destruction, it depends on the person reading the cards," Lavender explained.
"And the lightning was green, I would guess that means death," Harry said feeling worried.
"You mean you believe me?" Lavender asked hopefully.
"Yes, you were right the last time you saw something in the ball, and I got this gut feeling you're right," Harry admitted.
"What can we do about this?" Lavender asked.
"Nothing directly, it's happening on the full moon, I will tell Sirius and I'll talk to McGonagall tonight," Harry said.
"But what if I'm wrong?" Lavender asked.
"Then you're wrong, but if you're right the school could be in grave danger," Harry said leaning in and kissing has her softly on the lips.
"Thank you for taking this seriously, I know you don't believe in this stuff," Lavender said softly.
"You're right I don't, but I believe in you and it would be stupid to brush this off," Harry said finishing his sandwich.
"Thank you, Harry," Lavender said smiling at him.
"Don't mention it, how is Dennis?" Harry asked changing the subject.
"Luna said he was doing better, Pomfrey fixed his arm he'll be out this afternoon," Lavender answered.
"Is Luna still mad at me?" Harry asked.
"Yep, though she still ate the whole pudding cake you sent her," Lavender said with a smirk.
Luna had learned of Harry threatening Colin and had been very upset with him, apparently, Colin was refusing to do anything more than snog her now.
"She'll get over it eventually," Harry said confidently taking a sip of juice.
"I wouldn't bet on that, if you stopped shagging me I would be livid," Lavender said making him cough up pumpkin juice.
"You did that on purpose," Harry said.
"I did not," Lavender defended though he could see the amusement in her blue eyes.
"Somehow I'm not convinced," Harry said deadpan.
Library, 5/5/1897/18:46
Harry was sitting at his normal table studying for his upcoming N.E.W.T, he knew he had this in the bag but he still couldn't shake the nerves that he would mess it up somehow.
He had managed to get himself detention for the rest of the school year for his intervention in the attack on Dennis Creevey so his study time was more limited than he would like.
" Potter I need a word," Astoria Greengrass said taking a seat at his table and pulling from his book.
"What is with you Greengrass girls and ambushing me in the library," Harry asked tiredly.
"It's taught to us at a young age, mother to daughter," Astoria quipped.
"Sarcasm is taught that way too I guess?" Harry asked resigned to having to hear her out.
"Yes, now if you're done with twenty questions I need a favor," Astoria said primly.
"Oh boy, what?" Harry asked warily.
"Turn me," Astoria said making him choke on his own spit.
"Are you out of your pureblood mind?!" Harry exclaimed much louder than he meant to which earned him a glare from Madam Pince.
"No, I have thought his through," Astoria defended stubbornly.
"There is no way in hell I am doing that, your sister would skin me alive... literally!" Harry exclaimed much more quietly this time.
"Yes I would," said a voice from behind them making Astoria jump and Harry breathed a sigh of relief.
"Good you're here, talk some sense into her," Harry said hoping Daphne would drag her away and talk sense into her... elsewhere.
"Yes, thank you for handling this so professionally," Daphne said deadpan.
"You can't deny her request was unexpected," Harry defended.
"No, I suppose I just handle the unexpected better," Daphne quipped before glaring at her sister.
"Yes, but thankfully this is a family matter," Harry said pointedly.
"Correct, thank you for acting responsibly... for once," Daphne tailed off.
"Why the hell would you want to be one of us anyway?" Harry asked curiously ignoring Daphne's barb.
"That is none of your business," Astoria snapped.
"You're right, I don't care because I am not helping you with this anyway," Harry said with a shrug.
"Thanks Potter, I can take it from here," Daphne said grabbing her sister by the arm and dragging her out of the library.
Harry never would have thought he would see the day a proper pureblood girl from a sacred twenty-eight family would beg him to turn her into a werewolf.
'Holy shit,' Harry thought before turning back to studying.
Harry walked into his dorm to find Luna and Lavender chatting away on the bed, Lavender smiled warmly at him but Luna just huffed and turned to Lavender.
"I'll see you later Lavender," Luna said before darting out of the room without a backward glance at him.
"Damn, she is still pissed at me," Harry said surprised.
"I told you, you're going to have to talk with Colin," Lavender said looking amused at Harry's horrified expression.
"I am not going to encourage that little twerp to deflower her," Harry protested.
"Either that or get used to angry Luna," Lavender said managing to keep a smile off her face.
"You are far too amused about this whole situation," Harry said grumpily.
"I am sorry but the looks you make when Luna's sex life is brought up are funny to me?" Lavender said with a shrug.
"Enough about that, you won't believe what just happened in the library," Harry said changing the subject.
"What?" Lavender asked looking interested at getting some fresh gossip.
"Astoria Greengrass wanted me to turn her into one of us," Harry said sounding as though he couldn't believe what he was saying.
"Holy shit!" Lavender exclaimed looking flabbergasted.
"My thoughts exactly," Harry said.
"I hope you told her no," Lavender said warily.
"Of course I did, Daphne Greengrass is the most dangerous person in this school and I am not crossing her," Harry said flatly.
"Are you scared of her?" Lavender asked sounding a little surprised.
"Not scared so much as I have a healthy respect for what her family is capable of," Harry explained.
"Is that why you had me invite her along to our spa days, to get in her good books?" Lavender asked curiously.
"No, I like Daphne, we're not exactly friends but we have done business together for years, I figured hanging out with you girls would be good for her, she doesn't have many friends," Harry explained honestly.
"Alright back to Astoria, what's the deal with her wanting to be a werewolf?" Lavender asked still sounding shocked.
"That's easy, it's about Dennis. I think she really likes him and she wants to protect him," Harry said with a shrug.
"That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard," Lavender exclaimed.
"Yeah thirteen year olds are dramatic, I think there is even a muggle play about two thirteen year old lovers offing themselves to be together," Harry said thoughtfully.
"Well you should probably let her sister know about this," Lavender said stretching as she got up from the bed.
"She already knows," Harry said kicking off his boots.
"Good, let her deal with it," Lavender said heading towards the bathroom.
"Oh I am, I just wanted you to be prepared in case she approached you next," Harry said to her retreating back.
Harry didn't get an answer but knew She heard him, pulling off his clothes Harry got ready for bed and climbed under the covers sighing in contentment as his eyes started feeling heavy.
He had just started drifting off when the bathroom door opened, Lavender must have just gotten out of the shower because she was only wearing a towel.
"I hope you're not going to sleep on me yet," Lavender pouted as she let her towel drop to the floor.
"Not anymore", Harry said eyeing her naked body hungrily.
" Good, I need some attention," Lavender said as she crawled under the covers.
"You have my full attention," Harry said pulling her closer to him and kissing her softly.
'This woman will be the death of me,' Harry thought to himself as the kiss deepened and he stopped thinking about anything but the blond in his arms.
Hallway, 5/7/1997, 14:54
Harry found his target walking down the second-floor corridor, Harry prepared himself and grabbed the boy by the arm jerking him into the classroom as he passed the classroom door Harry was waiting inside.
"What the hell?" Colin asked angrily before turning and seeing who dragged him in here.
"You keep making my life difficult," Harry said tiredly.
"What did I do?" Colin asked looking worried.
"It's what you haven't done, Luna seems to blame that on me," Harry said delicately.
"You threatened to feed me to werewolves if I didn't quit doing it," Colin defended hotly.
"Technically I said I would feed you to werewolves if you got her pregnant," Harry pointed out.
"And the best way not to get her pregnant is to stop having sex with her," Colin said flatly.
"What the hell is going on here?" Longbottoms voice cut into their conversation.
"Nothing, it's a private matter," Harry said dismissively.
"It sounded like you were encouraging Creevey here to shag Luna Lovegood," Neville said disbelievingly.
"Yes, and I hate this more than you can possibly imagine, but she seems to think I interfered in her relationship," Harry said sourly.
"You threatened to feed me to werewolves," Colin repeated.
"He's being a bit dramatic about this," Harry sighed.
"Oh so she's bratting you into this," Neville said looking very amused.
"Yes hasn't talked to me since the full moon, what are you doing here anyway?" Harry demanded.
"I saw Creevey getting dragged into this classroom and thought he was being attacked," Neville said with a shrug.
"Not attacking him... yet," Harry told Neville before turning to Colin, " But you need to buck up and grow a pair just don't knock her up."
"Wow, I need a pensieve," Neville said more to himself than to the other two.
"Why?" Harry asked turning to Neville.
"Because nobody will believe I witnessed this conversation," Neville said with a grin
"We're done here Harry said walking towards the door.
"Have a good one Potter," Neville said not even trying to hide his mirth.
"Whatever," Harry said walking out into the hallway.
One thing was sure, Neville Longbottom was about to get pranked badly, the arrogant sod was enjoying that painful experience and Harry took offense to that. Harry had just the prank in mind.
Hopefully, his talk with Colin had paid off and Luna would talk to him again.
'Why the hell did she have to grow up?' Harry wondered irritably as he started planning a nice surprise for the chosen one.
Great Hall, 5/8/1997, 08:38
Harry was eating his breakfast the last week had been one thing after another, he was really starting to look forward to school ending for the summer.
"Did I ever tell you that you get lost in your head too much?" Lavender asked cutting into his daydreaming.
"No," Harry said easily.
"Well I am saying it now, did you talk to Colin?" Lavender asked.
"Yes, I feel dirty about that by the way," Harry said flatly.
"If you hadn't scared him so badly you wouldn't have had to talk to him," Lavender pointed out.
"That's it, I tried if it works, good. If not oh well, and stop grinning like that," Harry said eyes narrowed at Lavender.
Before Lavender could reply there was a very loud blast that sounded like a cannon from the Gryffindor table and the entire hall looked in that direction in time to see Neville Longbottom.
His hair had changed from sandy blonde to black and got really oily and was sticking to his head, his robes had changed from Hogwarts day robes to a solid black work robe, his skin tone lightened to a sallow pale color and finally, his nose turned into an exaggerated hook nose.
There was silence for a few seconds as no one had seen this kind of thing since the Weasley twins had flown the coup last year.
The silence was broken first by the Hufflepuff's who started laughing, then the Gryffindors started up. The Slytherins seemed conflicted on the one hand they hated Longbottom on principle but they knew the repercussions of laughing at this exaggerated version of their head of house.
Longbottom had put two and two together and was currently looking at his reflection in a hand mirror he had snatched from Romilda Vane. Harry heard his cry of dismay from all the way across the hall which set the laughter off at the Ravenclaw table.
Neville dropped the mirror on the table and stormed from the hall not noticing the two letters that appeared on his back in pink cursive writing which sparked renewed laughter as people noticed the 'JR'. on his back and Harry really lost it when he saw Colin snap a picture.
Harry turned back to his breakfast after he got his laughter under control and took a bite of his eggs with a satisfied smirk on his face.
"I take it that was your doing?" Lavender asked sounding very amused.
"He interrupted my conversation with Colin and started taking the mickey," Harry said with a shrug.
"I've been giving you a hard time about this since Luna told me what happened," Lavender said warily.
"Yeah, but I love you, I can barely tolerate Longbottom," Harry said with a shrug.
"That's good so you're not going to turn me into Trelawney or something?" Lavender asked hesitantly.
"No you are way too hot to look like Trelawney," Harry assured her.
"Thanks," Lavender said blushing.
"Oi, Colin come over here a second," Harry called across the hall.
Colin and to Harry's surprise Luna joined them at the table, Colin looking nervous and Luna looked to be back to normal.
"What's up Harry?" Colin asked warily.
"I want a copy of that picture," Harry said with a grin.
"I knew that was you," Luna accused.
"What was it the twins used to say, ask me no questions and I'll tell you no lies," Harry replied with a smirk.
"Fine, thanks for making Colin stop being stupid and giving me a good sha-
"You're welcome, I don't want to hear anything more about it," Harry said cutting her off.
"He's not this prudish about sex with you is he?" Luna asked Lavender.
"Nope," Lavender said her cheeks going a bit pink.
