sequel of Don't Dream It, Be It. Rizzoli and Isles celebrate their first Christmas as a couple together. Bringing their bond closer both emotionally and physically. Good tidings and cheer is what they both expect this year.

Disclaimer: I don't own anything when it comes to Rizzoli and Isles unfortunately. Happy Holidays everyone.

"Shit," Jane muttered to herself after leaving work for the day. Tomorrow was Christmas Eve and she still hadn't gotten a gift for Maura. Everyone else was taken care of, she had been struggling to find something perfect for Maura. This day crept up on her and she felt bad for forgetting. Why was looking for a gift for her friend turned girlfriend so difficult. She brushed the hair out of her face, as she stared into her rear view mirror.

She had promised Maura she'd come over for dinner tonight, but she knew she would have to cancel. She hated the thought of disappointing Maura but it'd be worse if she came to Maura's house on Christmas empty handed. Jane hooked up her phone's Bluetooth to her car before ringing Maura's cell.

The medical examiner answered right away, "Hey Jane, I take it you're calling me to let me know you're on the way."

"Uh actually Maura, I was calling to ask if we could take a rain check on our date."

"I-oh, did something happen at work after I left? Did Kent mess something up?"

"No, everything is perfectly fine at work, it's just that something came up outside of work that I need to get a handle on. I really hate to do this to you Maur."

"No, no don't apologize, if you're busy that's fine, you do still plan to come over tomorrow night? It is Christmas Eve after all."

"Of course Maura, it's our first Christmas together as romantic partners. In fact how about I stay the night tomorrow that way we can ring in Christmas together, make up for tonight," Jane didn't like the disappointed sound of Maura's voice.

"I like that idea better than you leaving just to come back in the morning the next day."

"I figured you might like that idea, I'll see you tomorrow alright? And I really am sorry about this evening."

"Don't mention it, I'll see you tomorrow Jane, bye."

"Bye," Jane replied just before Maura hung up the phone. "Yeah, she's definitely disappointed," she went to dial Frankie's number, he picked up on the third ring.

"Frankie Rizzoli. How may I help you?"

"Frankie, it's me. I was sort of calling to ask you for a favor."

"Oh hey Jane, I'm glad you called me, I was going to call you, but figured you'd be having your evening in with Maura."

"I had to cancel, which is why I figured you could help me. I have lost track of time and still haven't decided what to get Maura for Christmas."

"You forgot to get Maura a gift for Christmas? The first year you two are more than friends?"

"I didn't forget Frankie, do you know how hard it is to shop for Maura on a normal basis, now I'm dating her and have to up my game. Are you able to meet me at the mall?"

"Yeah of course I'll help you Janie. Would hate for you to ruin Christmas for your girlfriend. I'll meet you there in thirty minutes."

"Alright, I'll even buy us dinner."

"I already ate Jane, that's what I wanted to call you about, but I'll just tell you at the mall. See you in thirty."

"I'm quite intrigued by your statement, see you then bro."

"See ya Jane," he hung up the phone.

Jane took a deep sigh of relief, glad that her brother was willing to help her out with this situation at hand. She hoped that she'd find the perfect gift for her Maura.

Meanwhile at Maura's house, she placed her phone on the counter, looked at the dinner she was planning to have with Jane, she sighed, pouring herself a glass of wine before retiring to the couch for a little while. She was disappointed that Jane wouldn't be coming for dinner, everything was prepared for a nice evening in just the two of them.

She turned on the television to drown out her thoughts, when she heard some clattering about outside in the back. She stood up to make her way to the door going to see who it was. Before she could open the door Tommy did as he came inside, "Hey Maura, hope that I'm not interrupting anything. I tried knocking on Ma's door but she wasn't answering, I think she got a night time visitor and she doesn't want to be bothered."

Tommy Rizzoli had gotten released from prison around Thanksgiving, he needed a place to stay and Maura offered him to stay here although he was usually out in the guest house this time of night. The youngest Rizzoli looked around the house, "Uh where's Jane? I thought she would be over," he paused taking off his boots. I still can't believe my sister is a lesbian, I guess I shouldn't be completely surprised."

"She had something come up, it's alright. Why don't you take a seat?"

"I'm kind of hungry, would you mind if I had a little bit to eat?" he asked, eyeing the food in the kitchen and Maura shrugged.

"Suit yourself, would hate for a nice hot meal to go to waste."

"Always such a good hostess Maura, I see why my sister fancies you so much," Tommy grabbed two plates from the cabinet, one for him and one for Maura. "Shame that she's not here. She's coming over for Christmas right?"

"Of course she is, where else would she be?"

Tommy shrugged, "I don't know but I mean she's not here now you know. But I am."

"We've been over this before Tommy, there's nothing between you and I..." she started.

"I know Maura, just you sure you don't feel it too?"

Maura sighed. "Maybe you should try to see if Angela will let you inside the guest house. What I do feel is tired and I have a lot to do these next two days," she got up from the couch, putting her barely touched wine glass down on the table.

"I'm sorry Maura if I made you feel uncomfortable. I'll clean up for you though."

"Thanks Tommy for the offer to clean, but next time maybe you don't try to hit on me, alright?"

Tommy nodded his head, looking unsatisfied before sitting down and eating dinner, Maura was a magnificent cook.

Maura glanced at the younger Rizzoli with a shake of his head, he was as much trouble as Jane said he was, Maura wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, but he really needed to get over his infatuation with her. It would not end well for him. She made her way upstairs to get started on her usual night routine, the one she had when Jane wasn't here which was often a rare occasion these days. She sighed really wishing Jane didn't have something come up.

Jane walked beside her brother once they arrived at the mall, she sighed watching people scramble about to do their last minute Christmas shopping.

"So what exactly is your budget here?" Frankie asked, hands in his pockets.

"I don't have a huge budget Frankie, I'm not exactly as... wealthy as Maura, but I do want something she'll look at knowing I put effort in finding said gift."

"You hardly been going out long enough to gift her something extravagant, plus you have to try and gift her something better each year. What do you know she wants or what does she need at the house?"

"Are you talking about appliances Frankie?"

"Yeah or some um... bathroom necessities?" he suggested.

"Men really don't know how to shop for women do they?" Jane eyed her brother.

"I don't know, you're the one shopping for a girl not me."

"Oh is there something you've been meaning to tell me? And two Maura is a woman, not a girl, so let's not call her that again, alright?"

"No need to get defensive Jane and I told you I wanted to tell you something, but that ain't it."

Jane eyed her brother up and down, "Sounds to me like you're the one being defensive, what's up?"

"Nothing is up Jane, we're supposed to be focusing on your problems, not mine."

"You're having problems? You know that you can tell me right?"

"This isn't the place Jane."

"Alright Frankie, whatever it is you're hiding, I support you, you're my brother and I care about you no matter what."

A smile took over Frankie's face, "That's like what I told you when you were hiding your relationship with Maura."

"So why did you decide you don't want to tell me what's going on with you?"

"I just want you to focus on finding the perfect present for Maura. We can worry about me later."

"Whatever you say Frankie, but you might be right we should focus on the task at hand. Getting Maura's present," Jane patted her brother on the back before getting an idea of where to start looking.

It was a few hours later when Jane made her way to Maura's house, she found some gifts for Maura and she kept them in the car. All night Jane had felt bad for canceling on Maura last minute, she hoped that Maura would appreciate her showing up and surprising her with an evening visit.

She entered the house, putting her keys on the table by the front door. She heard the faint noise of the television in the living room, she went over to see Tommy laying on the couch half hanging off of it. Jane went to go move him slightly so he wouldn't end up falling off, she covered him with a blanket and turned off the television and Tommy didn't nudge one bit. She sighed, seeing the kitchen was clean before heading up the stairs towards Maura's bedroom she could tell that there was a light on and she knew Maura was still awake. She tapped lightly on the door.

"Maura, may I come in?" Jane asked in a whisper, this caused Maura's head to jerk up from the medical journal she was reading.

"Jane? You can, of course," a smile lit the woman's face as her partner slipped into the room closing the door behind her. "I wasn't expecting to see you tonight, is everything alright?"

"Never been better. Just had to tie up a few loose ends on things," she went to go open the drawer Maura kept clear for a few of Jane's things for whenever she stayed over. She made space for Jane as soon as they started dating. "I'm going to change and be right back. Sorry I had to cancel our dinner plans."

"This makes up for it, somewhat," Maura smiled warmly watching her girlfriend head towards the bathroom. Maura tugged on her bedsheets, she was in the nude since this is how she slept when she had planned to be alone. Maura slipped out of bed to go get some clothes on, she was bent over to put her underwear back on once Jane came back ready for bed.

"I um... oh didn't realize that you were um..." Jane nodded, feeling flushed in the face, as was Maura.

"I usually am when I'm expected to be alone, plus it's uh..." Maura quickly grabbed a shirt pulling it over her head and covering up her breasts.

"Yeah I um... I know," Jane bit her bottom lip, "It took me by surprise, that's all. And well thanks for being clothed during our sleepovers over the years, because that would have been very distracting."

"It'd only be distracting if you lost self control. Out of all the times we have changed in front of each other too."

"Well I didn't exactly look, even if I may have been tempted to."

"I am surprised to hear that you didn't look."

"That's because I have respected you and the boundaries I made for myself."

"I'm glad that we decided to be more than friends then. Would hate for you to have broken those boundaries when we were just friends. I know you're a woman with morals."

"I mean there are still boundaries, well somewhat since we crossed that line in our friendship."

Maura stepped closer to Jane, resting her hand on her shoulders, "I thank you immensely for respecting me," she moved around Jane to close the bedroom door. "I'm glad you came to spend the night."

"Well I felt bad for ditching you, and I don't think I wanted to go home and be alone when I much rather be here with you."

"You're here now Jane, that's all that matters," Maura whispered, brushing her lips gently against Jane's. "Let's retire to the bed shall we?"

Jane nodded, "Oh of course," she smiled, taking Maura by the hand and walking her to the bed where they both moved to lay down. Jane rested her hand on Maura's shoulder, brushing her hair out of the way, before pressing soft kisses there. Maura let one of her legs go in-between Jane's, gently letting her knee press against Jane's crotch, causing the woman to groan quietly against her warm skin. "Maura, you're driving me insane here."

They have yet to passed certain boundaries with each other in the intimacy department, but Jane craved more in the moment. Unsure if Maura wanted to head down that road yet. She did cut it short that night on Halloween, all for good reasons. But how long could either of them go without making love to one another when things were so good between them.

Jane glanced over at Maura who had this look in her eye, Jane was so distracted by the look on Maura's face she almost didn't realize that Maura's hand had cupped her ever so lightly until she felt a small twitching sensation between her legs. "Oh... that's..." Jane shifted a bit as Maura's thumb stroked her entrance... "God."

"Actually that's me," Maura smirked before applying a little bit of pressure. "Is that okay?"

Jane nodded, "Ye-Yeah that's... shit Maura," she moaned out as Maura continued with her hand.

Jane couldn't get her words out she just nodded letting Maura continue working her magic on Jane, until she heard a noise, her vibrating phone, Maura seen who it was. BPD call center.

"Jane, I think there's a case..."

"Of course there is," Jane groaned in frustration and pleasure as Maura had moved her hand away from her crotch. "See this is why I left my phone downstairs by the front door."

"I'm on call though. It'll only be a moment," she reached over for the phone to answer. "Doctor Isles... yes I'll be there as soon as I can." She spoke softly before tossing the phone to the side, "I'm sorry about that Jane..."

"Don't be sorry, just do me a favor..."

"Yes of course," Maura kept her eye on Jane.

"Next time you want to do some bed activities make sure your phone is off."

Maura nodded, "I can do that next time. I really am sorry Jane."

"I'm sorry too, just you should get ready for work and I'll just have to finish myself." Jane spoke lowly and Maura knew what she meant as soon as she seen her hand moving beneath the covers.

"You sure you don't want me to assist?" Maura asked and Jane shook her head.

"Not when you're going to have to leave right after, that's not how I want to spend our first night... together," Jane closed her eyes for a moment, groaning out as she continued pleasing herself, her head tossing back ever so slightly. "Shit..." Jane applied more pressure to her sensitive spot.

Maura had to turn away as she started getting ready for work, getting aroused at the noises emitting from Jane. She ran fingers through her hair, taking a deep breath hearing Jane shout out her name before coming undone.

Jane sighed, looking over at Maura. "God that would have felt so much better if that was you," she moved to lay on her side. "Did you enjoy the show?"

"Very much so... I really hate that I have to leave you."

"I guess that's karma for ditching our dinner plans," Jane shrugged.

"You don't have to feel guilty about that."

"And you don't have to feel guilty about this. Our time will come and it'll be absolutely perfect, I'm sure of it." Maura approached the bed, kissing the top of her head. "I'll see you when I get back."

"Oh and one more thing Maura, Merry Christmas Eve," Jane noticed that it was after midnight on the clock, Maura kissed Jane on the lips.

"Merry Christmas Eve Jane Rizzoli. And sweet dreams. I'm sorry that I have to go, truly sorry."

"I know, but I'll be okay, promise. We're good, now get out of here you," Jane winked at her girlfriend so she knew she wasn't upset. Maura gave Jane one last look before she headed out the door, wishing that she had no responsibilities she had to attend to. Wishing that there wouldn't be death during the holiday season it just wasn't fair sometimes.

Jane felt her stomach growl after Maura left so she went downstairs to grab her something to eat. She had forgotten that Tommy was sleeping on the couch so when he sat up in the living room it completely startled Jane. "Shit Tommy, are you trying to give me a heart attack?"

"Not purposely no, when did you get here?"

"A bit ago, who do you think tucked you in?"

"Well thanks. You know Maura seemed upset tonight, that you canceled dinner plans. She went through all this effort and where were you?"

"I had something I needed to do, why are you so grumpy?" she eyed her brother as she put her plate in the microwave.

"Maura's a great woman y'know."

"Yeah, of course I know that, that's why I'm dating her."

"It'd be a shame if you let her slip away from you so easily."

Jane glared at her brother, "I don't like the fascination that you have for Maura and you don't need to worry about her and I, we're great. Why are you sleeping inside her house anyways?"

"Ma wouldn't let me into the guest house, that's why, guess she was occupied doing that Korsak fella."

Jane frowned at her brother's choice of words, "God I don't even want to think about that. Never say that again."

"Ma has needs just like everyone else," Tommy shrugged. "Anyways, I'm sorry for having a thing for Maura."

"I'll know you're sorry when you actually mean it. Right now I don't trust you as far as I can throw you. Now if you don't mind I'd like to eat my dinner in peace."

Tommy threw his hands up in defense, "Alright, just pretend I'm not here, I'm going back to sleep now."

Jane nodded, that was the plan to block out Tommy's presence, it was going to be a long night.

Hope that you enjoyed my beginning to this little Rizzles Christmas holiday story. I wanted to continue their relationship from Don't Dream It, Be It because I wanted there to be more. Tommy made his appearance in this story much to the dismay of Jane. Rizzles will have more holiday goodness in store, that's a promise. Tell me your thoughts and I'll deliver some more. And Happy Holidays everybody.
