It's Halloween and BPD is having a costume party, Jane doesn't really care to dress up, but Maura insists, plus with Maura's costume it's hard for Jane Rizzoli to say no.
Author's Note: So I decided to write a little thing for Halloween, even though it's being posted in November, been wanting to write a Halloween Rizzoli and Isles story so came up with this idea on short notice. Late night brain is fun. suck summary I know, I hope you like the story though. Also it doesn't follow any kind of storyline of the show. This was supposed to be a one shot, but halfway through I thought to make it a two shot.
Disclaimer: I don't own anything when it comes to Rizzoli and Isles unfortunately. I'm still waiting for them to decide to make a movie or another season of how everyone is doing in the future.
Jane Rizzoli was sitting at her desk after a long day at work, she was working on the rest of her paperwork when she retrieved a text from Maura, she was asking for help downstairs to finish up her outfit and get Jane started on hers. Jane ran her fingers through her hair in frustration. All she wanted to do was go home, hand some candy out to her apartment kid neighbors, and indulge in a nice cold beer. Everyone was going to the party though, Maura and her brother insisted.
Frankie only wanted to be a part of it because he loved the theme Maura wanted to go with, just the three of them. Korsak and Frost didn't understand the fascination with the whole Rocky Horror Picture Show movie, so they were going to do their own things. Jane looked across the room over at Korsak who was on a phone call being all secretive. "What do you think that's all about?" Jane asked her work partner.
Frost just shrugged, "Maybe the old man has a lady friend and doesn't want us being nosy about it."
"Do you think it's Kiki?"
"No, why would it be Kiki, she's just his life coach, Korsak isn't one to mix business with pleasure."
Jane sighed, "I don't know, but I think it's about time he be happy, don't you think?"
"I'm sure that he deserves it, you deserve being happy too Jane, even though after the Gabriel Dean situation you probably don't want to mix business with pleasure either."
"I will never trust an FBI agent again, he almost completely destroyed my friendship with Maura. Luckily that was two years ago and I haven't seen him again, or even heard from him, good riddance, right?" Jane leaned back in her chair.
"Yeah, but enough chit chat about that douche, why are you avoiding going downstairs to help Maura with her outfit?"
Jane eyed her partner in front of her, "How do you know Maura wants me to help her?"
"Because she texted me asking if you were still here and she really needs help, I'd go help her if I were you," Frost grinned from ear to ear.
"Don't look at me like that," she got up from her chair, shutting her case file.
"One day you'll realize what we all see Rizzoli, mark my words."
"Only in your imagination Frost," she shook her head and walked out of the room and over toward the elevator.
Korsak watched Rizzoli walk away before he hung up the phone, turning towards Barry Frost. "You think those two would hurry it up already? For a genius and a detective, neither are very bright about their attraction towards each other."
"Yeah, like you're one to talk Korsak, pining after said detective's mother, but you won't act on it."
"And who says I haven't acted on it?" Korsak raised a brow.
"Wait, you and Angela... really? I was just joking. What about Kiki, and why does Jane think you might be into her?"
"Nerves, anxiety I get when Jane brings Kiki up in regular conversation while I'm trying to hide the fact I'm dating her mother."
"How long do you plan on keeping it a secret?"
"All will be revealed tonight actually. It was her idea," Korsak grinned.
"Well I hope that Jane takes it well," Frost shook his head.
"So do I Frost, so do I."
Jane finally made it downstairs, some of Maura's lab assistants stopped her on her way to ask her advice on things. She headed towards Maura's office and the door was closed, Susie was outside of it. "Jane you made it, Maura didn't want anyone to come in, something about not wanting her subordinates to see her without the complete costume on."
Jane looked Susie up and down, "And what do you plan to go to this party as Chang?"
"Kent and I planned something, and before you mention it, we're not a couple."
"I wasn't going to say anything, but now that you bring it up, you can always do better than Kent Drake. Anyone can actually, may I go in and help Maura now."
"Uh yeah, go ahead, see you at the party," Susie nodded quickly before scurrying away. Jane lifted her fist to knock but the door opened slightly as Maura grabbed Jane by the hand and pulled her in.
"I was starting to worry that you weren't going to come down," Maura tugged at her black trench coat.
"Don't you look very... ominous," Jane eyed her best friend wondering why she looked embarrassed. "Not regretting your choice of costume are you?"
"Me, regretting my costume choice, not at all... I just didn't want anyone to see the unfinished product, well minus yourself of course since you are helping me finish."
"Uh huh, sure well let me see it then."
"It's a little risqué, just warning you now."
"Yes Maura, I know, I was watching the movie with you I know what Frank-N-Furter wears, lots of revealing stuff, I also know how much you were admiring his outfits. I am curious as to what exactly it is you're wearing, so go ahead, let me see."
Maura glanced at her best friend, unbuttoning the coat, only a few buttons before stopping, "I don't know maybe I should wear something more, suitable for a work environment."
"You do wear a trench coat quite well, you were so sure about this before, why not now?" Jane asked, hands resting on Maura's shoulders. "You look great I'm sure of it," she gave her friend a reassuring smile. Maura stepped back slightly and nodded.
"I shouldn't be embarrassed or exposed, I'm very confident in my appearance any other time," she finished with the buttons, and slightly opened the coat. Jane could swear she felt her heart stop in her chest, Maura was in a corset the one that resembled Frank N Furter's dinner outfit, which perfectly hugged her curves, fishnet stockings and tall black heels. Maura felt her cheeks become flushed, as Jane just stared at her, jaw slightly opened. "It's too much, isn't it?"
"I um... considering I was thinking you were wearing his first appearance outfit, no it's not entirely too much, you wear it... very well," Jane tripped over her words, trying to get her brain to function properly. "You should still wear the trench coat over the outfit, just in case."
Maura nodded, "You know, that's not a bad idea, you do think it's okay though?"
"It's perfect Maur, I promise, you'll be the hit at the party, although you're always a hit everywhere. Now what did you want me to help you with?"
"My makeup mostly, and you zipping me up of course, if you don't mind."
"I, of course, not at all," Jane watched as Maura slid the coat off and turned around. Jane let out a breath she wasn't aware she was holding, the warmth touching Maura's neck, giving her slight chills. Jane managed to zip her friend up before moving to stand in front of her, sliding the coat back over her arms. "So we'll um, do your make up then I'll get my outfit on, mine isn't too risqué, is it?" Jane asked with a slight smirk.
"I would quite enjoy the outfit Magenta wore to the dinner, but I know it's not something you would wear, not in public anyways, at least what I can imagine," Maura stated matter-of-factly. "Figured since you and Frankie are the siblings you can both just wear the outfits from the Time Warp musical number."
"Where Magenta looked like a maid?"
"A sexy maid, mind you," Maura teased with a wink, this caused Jane to pause, letting the thought of Maura thinking she would look sexy slip into her mind. "Make up first though," Maura went into her bag which laid on her desk, she pulled out a lot of things, Jane was always amused by how much she carried.
Maura was very serious about the make up because it would put the whole ensemble together. Jane sat in front of the medical examiner and began applying to Maura's face, Jane took notice of how Maura's nose scrunched up as Jane's hand brushed over her nose as she focused on the eyeliner. Jane couldn't stop looking in Maura's eyes as she transformed from her best friend to the man who made a wonderful performance to his musical numbers in the show. "I think you'd do Tim Curry proud with that look," Jane put down the brushes and closed up the make up.
Maura looked over in the mirror, impressed with Jane's skills of applying make up, "You really think so?"
"Oh yes, I guess we should get started on me then," Jane got up from the chair, going over to the couch where her outfit was laid out. "I'm going to change in here if you don't mind."
"Not at all," Maura smiled, glad that Jane felt comfortable enough to change in the same room, she even always got changed in the car that they often took to work together. Maura focused on her computer to check her emails, trying to keep herself occupied so she wouldn't watch Jane strip down into her undergarments, it was a hard task in itself.
As Jane got dressed she could feel Maura looking, and she honestly didn't mind at the moment. Once she was done changing she turned to face Maura. "Good God Maura, you're good at those Frank-N-Furter facial expressions, eyebrow raised and all."
"And you make a good Magenta, plus the good news is you can still wear your work boots and it goes well together, now time for your make up then we'll get those finishing touches on those wigs. I do hope that your brother is almost done getting ready," Maura looked at the time, before getting to work on Jane's make up.
An hour had passed by before they headed over to the Dirty Robber where the BPD party was taking place. Jane felt most comfortable there being able to be close to a bar for some liquid courage if she was going to be able to stand in a room full of people she worked with what she was wearing. She made a move to sit by the bar as fellow Detectives entered the room, Frankie was wearing his Riff Raff costume, immediately joining his sister.
"Hey Janie, where's your better half?"
"In the restroom, if you must know," Jane tapped her fingers on the bar, slightly impatient. "You know Frankie you wear being almost bald pretty well."
"Better than I would being who Maura dressed as, I can't pull that kind of outfit off, it'd make me feel insecure as hell. Maura is confident and that's what Frank-N-Furter is, one confident mother fuc-" he paused as Maura walked out of the bathroom. "Shit, that's Maura," Frankie's jaw dropped and Jane wanted to slap his face to snap out of it. He got up from the barstool, "Well hello Master," he tried out his Riff Raff voice, pretty spot on, Jane would be impressed if her brother wasn't drooling over Maura.
"Now now there Riff Raff, settle down," Jane rested her hand on her brother's shoulder.
"Jane, it's alright, he's pretty harmless," Maura offered Frankie a smile.
"I got my eye on you brother," Jane warned in a low voice, causing Maura to blush at Jane's protectiveness, even though you couldn't see it.
Soon the bar was filling with people, Frost came in with Kent and Susie. "Hot damn Maura, is that you?" Frost smirked.
"Yes, it is Barry, and who are you supposed to be?"
"Nick Fury from the Avengers, Samuel L. Jackson is an inspiration to me and he always has been."
Susie had to nudge Kent from staring at Maura, "And we're from Pirates of the Caribbean. I'm Elizabeth Swan and he's Captain Jack Sparrow."
"Well you look absolutely stunning Susie, and I can definitely tell you're Jack Sparrow," she glanced over at Kent.
"That's Captain Jack Sparrow, now off to go get some rum, before it's all gone," Kent walked away, Frankie and Frost in tow.
"You guys both look incredible, I can hardly tell that it's you both beneath those memorable characters. I should have joined in on that theme, but I promised Kent I'd have an outfit to go with his, he's very persuasive. Not to mention that Elizabeth Swan is one kick ass woman," Susie grinned. "I'm going to go join the boys at the bar, I'll keep them at bay Jane," she sent Jane a wink, knowing the Detective would prefer her brother and partner not drooling over Maura.
"Why would Susie need to keep the boys at bay?" Maura asked, confused on the wink Susie gave her best friend.
"Uh, don't worry about it Maura, why don't we go sit at our usual booth, alright?" Jane coughed into her sleeve before grabbing Maura by the hand as they went through the small crowd. At their usual booth was Angela sitting, "Ma, when did you get here? I thought you were going to hand out candy to Maura's neighbors?"
"I was here for a bit, one of the first ones here actually, had other plans come up, why don't you two sit down?" she patted the spot next to herself, Jane looked at her for a moment before going on the side across from her mother, puling Maura to sit next to her. "I can hardly tell that's you Maura, if Janie didn't tell me what you were wearing tonight I would have never thought it was you."
"Well Jane did my make up, and I very much happen to like portraying the evil doctor, in very stylish clothes, I might add," Maura rested her hand on Jane's thigh, giving it a pat, Jane really didn't mind it being there, even though it was gone too soon. Jane let her leg brush against Maura's, sending shivers down the M.E.'s spine.
"Maura darling, are you cold?" Angela looked between the two women.
"Not at all Angela, I'm feeling a little bit warm, but I'd much rather not expose myself all the way tonight, at least not here."
"Do I expect you to bring home a visitor tonight?" Angela grinned.
"I wouldn't get too carried away and say all of that, but perhaps, if the right person came along to appreciate all of this," the gestured to her outfit, side eyeing Jane, who didn't notice.
"Aah, well don't let me stop you. I should go see what is taking my date so long, I'll be back," Angela got up from the booth and headed outside.
"Did you also just hear my mother say she has a date?" Jane asked her best friend in a surprised tone.
"I think she did, but if she does maybe this means my place will be completely alone..."
Jane pouted, "Ugh don't tell me you plan to sleep with any of these people here?"
"I never plan to have sex Jane, it just happens, although tonight I might have a certain someone in mind."
"Well whoever he is, is lucky..." she paused, with a roll of her eyes.
Maura rested her hand on Jane's knee, giving it a squeeze, before running her hand higher up Jane's leg, against her inner thigh, causing her leg to jerk up. "I'm not talking about a man, or just anyone. I've been thinking about it since we watched that movie the first day of this month, you know how Frank-N-Furter gave Janet her very first sexual awakening..."
"Yeah," Jane took a deep breath, she must have been imagining this right now, Maura's hand on her inner part of her leg, talking about intimacy and sexual awakenings.
"I know you've thought about it, coming up with that whole life long best friend forever business to get Giovanni away from me, you seem to really enjoy it. It coming a reality wouldn't be the most bizarre thing. I've had these feelings and I'm tired of having them, I know they might seem like they're coming out of nowhere but..."
Jane sighed, relief spreading through her whole body and soul, "I- so it's not just me then?"
Those words caused Maura to pull her hand back and away from Jane. "Wait... you... do, feel them too?"
"I might not have those... sexual urges like you do but, maybe all this pretending around Giovanni isn't pretending at all. Even Frost keeps on insinuating there's something there, like something I haven't noticed... but maybe I have noticed it and was just afraid to acknowledge it."
"I think we both were afraid to say it out loud, but," she pauses before speaking in the tune of a song, "I've one thing to say and that's Dammit, Jane-it... I like you."
Jane smiled at Maura's playful attitude and continued, "Maur... I'm mad, for you too," she sung softly, grasping Maura's hand. "We can talk more about this later, right?"
"Yes, later is good, let's just enjoy this party and talk more at my place, over tea perhaps?"
"As long as it's not the panda poop kind," she added with a smirk, nudging her knee against her best friend's. Tonight was just getting started but it would get more interesting, Jane was sure of it.
So thoughts? This was just a random idea I thought out and wrote. Let me know what you think about this and if you want more. Rizzles is awesome and I hope you guys are alright that I made Maura dress up as Frank-N-Furter, and that you guys who are reading know what Rocky Horror Picture Show is, and more lyrics from the movie will be said because I want to let you fans of both really enjoy it.
