Thanks so much for your love and support of this Rizzles Halloween thing, wasn't expecting as many reviews as I actually got. You guys are great, now let's find out what happens now, shall we?
Disclaimer: As stated before I don't own anything when it comes to Rizzoli and Isles unfortunately. I don't own Rocky Horror Picture Show either, but it inspired this story after I spent all of October with their music in the background.
Maura and Jane continued sitting at their booth at the Dirty Robber, sharing glances toward one another. Soon Angela had come back over this time with Korsak attached to her arm and both in full costume, the nerves Jane was feeling were calmed at she focused on her ex partner and her mother's closeness and their matching outfits. Jane took a moment before realizing that they were Lupin and Tonks from Harry Potter, something they all watched during their usual Sunday dinners at Maura's house.
"Nice colorful wig you got there Ma," Jane tapped her fingers against her beer bottle. She remembered her mother's words from earlier about having a date, it took her a moment before she caught on. Jane quickly stood up from the booth and turned to her mother, "Can I talk to you Ma, in private?"
"Actually Janie, you don't have to speak with me in private, I know what you're going to say," she spoke softly, almost scared to tell her daughter, but she felt safe attached to the arm of one Vincent Korsak.
"And what is that?" she asked, arms crossed.
"You're confused and concerned, but I assure you everything is alright, it's been alright for some time. When I was going through the heartbreak your father caused, Vince has been there and I couldn't be happier," she rested her hand on Jane's shoulder.
Maura looked between the two Rizzoli women, "Well I for one think it's a great thing Angela, you deserve the best and I'm sure Korsak is a much better partner than Frank was."
Jane turned at her friend's words, "You do realize that Korsak has been divorced three times already, no offense to you or anything Korsak."
Korsak threw his hands up, "No offense taken, I have learned with each of my marriages though, but your mother and I aren't getting married, we're taking things really slow, getting to know each other better as a more than just friend status. I would never do anything to hurt your mother, I swear to it Jane. I'll prove it any way that I can."
Jane shook her head, "You don't have to prove anything Korsak, I do want to know why you guys thought to hide it from me, and did anyone else know?"
"I just told Frost this evening, but that was just because he said you thought I was dating Kiki, I wanted to clear it up. No one else knew, I figured tonight would be the best time since everyone is here at the Robber at the same time. Does this mean you're okay with this?"
"That depends..."
"On what?" Korsak asked, curious of what Jane was going to say.
"If you guys promise to keep it private, I don't want to know what you do in your alone time, alright?" she stepped back to look between the both of them.
"We promise," they stated at the same time, and Jane finally relaxed once again, mainly because Maura looked proud at her for not freaking out about the situation. Angela kissed her daughter's cheek and Maura's, saying her thanks before walking with Korsak to spread the news to the others.
"I'm glad you reacted well to their news."
"I mean I can't be too hard on Korsak, I trust that man with my life after all the times he's saved me. He has yet to fail me, so I hope I can trust him with my mother's life as well," Jane sighed, moving to sit back down at the booth next to Maura.
"I'm sure everything will be fine, now I just need to make sure you don't worry yourself over this too much. Korsak is very trust worthy, if anything it seems like most of his wives have abandoned him."
"Yeah just like Pop abandoned my mother," she scoffed, finishing her drink. "You're not going to abandon me one day, are you?"
Maura took Jane's hand in hers, her fingers running gently against the scar on Jane's hand before linking their fingers together, giving them a squeeze. "I wouldn't ever dream of it, you're the most important person to me, and you always will be."
"Tell me again when you don't look like such a sweet transvestite?" Jane glanced at her friend who chuckled at her response.
"I can do that, anytime you need reminding actually, does that work?"
Jane grinned, "Most definitely," she gave Maura's hand a squeeze, releasing it as Kent came over, two shot glasses in his hands.
"Hey you two, wanna join the festivities with everyone else? We're going to have a toast for him and Angela."
"You're not going to be making a speech, are you?" Jane eyed the taller man who clearly had a lot to drink already.
"Why would I make a speech? She's not my mother Rizzoli. Don't make me drag the both of you," he slid them the shot glasses before walking off.
"He wasn't kidding when he said he wanted rum, taking his costume a little too seriously," Maura sniffed the shot glass to smell what was in it. "We should do what he suggested though and join the festivities, there's time for us to be alone later," Maura let Jane slide out of the booth before following her.
"There's my sister," Frankie draped his arm around Jane's shoulders. "Hogging Maura, are ya?"
"Shut up," Jane gave her brother a nudge. "So, you going to make a speech?"
"No, but you're okay with Ma dating Korsak?"
"Are you?"
Frankie just shrugged, "It hasn't really hit me yet, I'll have a better idea when I don't have alcohol in my system. I mean I just want Ma to be happy, and she looks to be happy, right?"
"Very happy, something I haven't seen in years, maybe things are looking up for Ma after all," Jane patted her brother's back.
"I surely hope so. She deserves some happiness, we all do, even you, you know."
"I know Frankie, but you don't have to worry about me."
Korsak spoke up to get everyone's attention before Frankie could respond to Jane. "Good evening everyone, I know it wasn't exactly my idea to have the BPD party at the Dirty Robber, but I'm glad everyone has come, even if Halloween gatherings are always done at headquarters. Tonight is a very special night for me, two reasons, the first is that after tonight I am the new owner of the Dirty Robber, something I have been keeping on the downlow until everything got situated. Not only do I get to own this fine establishment, I get to share this with a wonderful woman on my arm," he paused taking a quick glance at Angela. "So tonight isn't just a celebration for Halloween it's a celebration of new things to come. So now we drink," he lifted up his glass, along with everyone else. "Here to new developments and new beginnings."
"Here, here," the patrons stated before each downing their shots.
"Now let's really get this party started," Kent spoke up loudly, over everyone else before going over to the jukebox. "And I know the perfect song," he grinned, sending a wink towards Maura before pressing play. Jane rolled her eyes the moment the music started.
"I have a feeling he did that on purpose," Jane groaned and Frankie rushed over to his sister.
"This is our moment Jane, what we practiced for..." Frankie spoke excitedly.
"You two practiced the Time Warp dance?" Maura looked at the two Rizzoli siblings in amusement.
"And I constantly told Frankie I don't dance... in public."
Frankie took this opportunity to grab Maura by the arm, a shit eating grin on his face, "I'll just dance with Maura then."
Jane frowned, "Alright, alright, I'll do it. This is gonna be so embarrassing," Jane muttered to herself as her brother pulled her towards the middle of the bar where it was emptiest. Jane did her best to dance along to the song all while avoiding eye contact with Maura, especially when it was time for the pelvic thrust part. Maura couldn't help but laugh lightly at Jane's dance with Frankie, laughing in admiration of course, Kent pulled Susie to the 'dance floor', and others joined in for the dance. Frankie ended up dancing with someone else, causing Jane to slip out of the crowd only to be stopped by Maura.
"What, is that all I get to see?"
"I think I embarrassed myself enough for one night."
"I don't know why you feel embarrassed, I thought you looked quite sexy," Maura sent her friend a wink.
"You're just saying that because you have to, I seen you smirking."
"Only for admiration purposes, still surprised that you and Frankie put this effort to learn the dance, you could have asked me to practice with you," Maura rested her hand on Jane's arm.
"He insisted I do it with him, and you watching me dance is what's embarrassing, not the dance itself."
"I didn't know I made you feel that way."
"It's sort of like a vulnerability thing."
"It's quite okay to show your vulnerable side every once in a while, it's nice seeing you not so tense though, maybe dancing is a soul freeing type of thing for you."
Jane nodded, "I mean I did participate in ballet for a few years, just it hasn't been something I had been into for a long time."
"If it helps, you dance quite gracefully. Are there other hidden talents I should know about?" Maura looked into Jane's eyes, smiling at the warmth she felt while looking inside them. This look sent shivers down Jane's spine.
"I uh... maybe later, when we're alone."
"Aah," Maura nodded at Jane's words. "I definitely wouldn't mind seeing those talents being used," she added with a wink as the song was coming to an end, Kent walked over to them, yet again, always when they were having a moment.
"Hey Maura, your time to shine is coming up," he grinned.
Maura looked between her assistant and her best friend, "Oh Jane, you thought you felt embarrassed dancing, just you wait, Susie, Kent and I were practicing something down in the basement of the precinct for a little over a week now," she patted Jane on the shoulder before being pulled away, a look of panic on her face. Kent was able to get the tune of Maura's big number, connecting the computer by a chord to the jukebox where the sound could be a little bit louder so everyone can hear. The music started, Maura's back was turned away from everyone else as the music started, her heel tapping to the sound of the beat, getting a feel for the song before it really started.
She turned around and started singing, trying to keep her FrankNFurter expressions intact. "How d'you do- I, see you've met my... Faithful handyman. He's just a little brought down because when you knocked he thought you were the... candymaan."
Her hands rested on the flaps of her trench coat, as she walked down the pathway others left for her, all who knew the movie well enough anyways, catching a glimpse of Jane and her expression of surprise and did she see a hint of arousal in her face. She couldn't let that distract her.
"Don't get strung out by the way that I look
Don't judge a book by its cover
I'm not much of a man by the light of day
But by night I'm one hell of a lover," she sang, opening the coat slightly but not removing it like it was done in the movie.
"I'm just a sweet transvestite
From Transexual, Transylvania, ha ha," she continued.
Maura began walking back towards where Susie and Kent were standing by the jukebox, sending Jane a nervous smirk.
"Let me show you around, maybe play you a sound
You look like you're both pretty groovy
Or if you want something visual that's not too abysmal
We could take in an old Steve Reeves movie."
Kent gave Maura a nod at her confidence before he spoke the part of Brad. "I'm glad we caught you at home... Could we use your phone? We're both in a bit of a hurry."
"Right!" Susie added.
"We'll just say where we are, then go back to the car. We don't want to be any worry."
It was Maura's turn to smirk, "Well, you got caught with a flat, well, how about that?" Maura raised her eyebrow. "Well, babies, don't you... panic. By the liiight of the night, it'll all seem alright, I'll get you a satanic mechanic. I'm just a sweet transvestite... From Transexual, Transylvania, ha ha." Frankie went to pull out a stool so Maura could sit down, standing next to her, Frost on the other side.
"Why don't you stay for the night?"
"Night," Frankie spoke in Riff Raff's tone of voice.
"Or maybe a bite?"
"Bite," Frost smirked.
"I could show you my favorite, obsession. I've been making a man," she twirled her finger into Frankie's wig hair. "With blond hair and a tan. And he's good for relieving my... tension," she raised both eyebrows, looking directly at Jane before continuing the song, glad that it was almost over, but she felt refreshed doing the performance though, her confidence seeping through the lyrics.
"So, come up to the lab... And see what's on the slab. I see you shiver with antici-" she paused for a moment, Jane felt her own breath caught in her throat, "-Pation." Jane gulped at the way Maura said that word, running fingers through her hair as Maura finished off the song. "But maybe the rain... Is really to blame. So I'll remove the cause..." she paused to mimic FrankNFurter's laugh, "But not the symptom," she finished off by wrapping her trench coat back around her shoulders.
Jane found herself having to sit down, clapping along with the other officers and Detectives, sending Maura the biggest smile. People gave Maura smiles and patted her on the back. Some people mentioned how they didn't know the medical examiner had it in her. "That was... incredible Maur," she managed to get out as Maura approached, she looked embarrassed but pleased with herself.
"It was the most nerve-wracking thing I've ever done."
"I definitely wasn't expecting that, but I'll forever remember that performance. You rocked that song," she passed her a shot glass with rum. "Here, you might need some of that."
"Thanks," Maura sat down, crossing her legs as she downed the shot Jane gave her, scrunching up her nose at the taste. "How can people drink more rum than this straight, I don't think I'll ever know. I feel elated."
"I think I might just enjoy going home with you tonight," Jane spoke, without thinking, causing Maura to feel flushed.
"I would ask if you want to get out of here, but after me performing that musical number, they might get the wrong idea, and you get enough teasing from some of precinct because they think you're gay."
"Using the word dyke is more like it, but that was mainly Crowe, glad that son of a bitch got transferred when he did. And honestly, it's getting late and I don't care what people think, it's not any of their business. Plus we're best friends, it'd be odd if we didn't leave together."
Maura nodded, "Well, let me go get your coat and we can head out. Which one of us should drive?"
"Honestly I think I should since we established you can't drive safely in those heels you're wearing."
"You mean since you've established," Maura responded as Jane gestured down to her heels. "I'm going to go get your coat now," the medical examiner smiled, patting her leg as she headed toward the bar door, just as Frost approached.
"So, Maura and that costume seem to fit very well together, not to mention that performance. I haven't seen that side of Maura, it's very enjoyable," he grinned. "Wouldn't you say?"
"I know what you're doing Frost, and I'm not going admit anything," Jane stated in a serious tone, causing Frost to rest his hand on her knee.
"You know, everyone can see how you look at her, and I support any decision you make. I know it will last, you two are perfect for each other."
"Yeah, you really think that Barry?" she asked her partner as Maura flashed her a smile, causing Jane to smile back.
The man nodded, "Just make a move before one of these guys at work think they stand a chance."
"I'll see you at work tomorrow, okay?"
"Oh definitely, tell me all about it."
"You wish I would," Jane patted his shoulder before getting up from her bar stool, saying her goodbyes to everyone as she made her way to the door.
"What did Barry want?" Maura asked her as they got outside.
"He just wanted to say he supports us and whatever this is. Oh and that I should make a move before someone else does."
"Well you're in luck, if someone else tried to make a move I'd very happily tell them no. I can say no, plus we're a team and I honestly couldn't ask for a better partner than you," she leaned over to kiss Jane's cheek before getting in on the passenger side of the car. Jane stood there for a moment feeling the cold as soon as Maura's lips left her face. She got into the car and glanced over at Maura, they were alone in the parking lot and Jane's nerves started to make themselves known again as she buckled herself and started the car not saying anything. She was about to put the car in drive and Maura placed her hand on top of Jane's on the console. "Jane..."
"Uh huh."
"Before we start driving off to my place and I have to spend all these agonizing moments wanting to kiss you and not being able to because of safety reasons..."
"Wouldn't kissing me right now just make those moments more agonizing?"
"Yes, but I've been waiting months for the perfect time to kiss you."
"Months? Well Dr. Isles, how were you able to have self control after all these months?"
"I kept on thinking of the troubles I could have caused for our friendship if I made the move and you weren't exactly there. The thought of losing what we had just because of the feelings I was having, I would have never forgiven myself for doing a thing like that..." Maura started to ramble.
Jane nibbled at her bottom lip during Maura's explanation, her heart racing at her best friend's words, she lifted her hand up to Maura's cheek, causing the woman to stop rambling, as she slowly leaned in, her lips brushing gently against Maura's. She felt Maura gasp lightly into the kiss, probably uncertain that Jane would make the first move. Their lips moved together with ease after the initial shock that they both felt, Jane thought her heart was going to explode out of her chest as Maura's hand rested against her neck, pulling her in deeper.
Jane groaned into Maura's mouth as the kiss lasted for ten seconds longer. "I uh... um was that to your liking?"
Maura nodded, "That was... well worth the wait," she leaned back in the chair, Jane giving her hand a squeeze.
"Let's get you home Doctor Isles, it seems to me that you're looking a little flushed," she teased to calm her nerves before driving off towards Maura's place, definitely shivering with anticipation to continue that kiss.
The car ride was spent in silence, both women were unsure of what to say. About twenty minutes later Jane pulled up to the curb of Maura's house, parking the car and shutting it off.
"So um... shall we go inside then?" Jane spoke after a few minutes of silence. Maura gave her head a nod as they both got out of Jane's car, Maura linking her arm with Jane's. They made it inside, Jane hanging up her coat, and turning towards Maura, undoing the buttons and tie to her trench coat, pushing it down her shoulders hanging it up beside hers, giving her a look over, her eyes dark with slight arousal.
"Should I make us some coffee, or some tea? I feel like having chamomile tea, would you like a cup?"
"Sure, that sounds great, I'm going to go freshen up," Jane smiled nervously before she went to the bathroom. Maura exhaled lightly, she was always well put together, she didn't like this feeling of nerves she had right now. She needed to keep the confidence of FrankNFurter or her nerves might make her back down from this and ruin the moment. She's been hiding this for so long, now that it was out in the open she wasn't sure how to proceed, she didn't want to over step her boundaries or make Jane feel like she thought it was a mistake which definitely wasn't how she felt. Maura was absolutely crazy about Jane and she wanted to show her in every way she knew how.
"How's that tea coming along?" Jane spoke as she entered the kitchen, standing besides Maura.
"It'll be a few more moments, I think I'll go change if you don't mind watching the pot."
"Would it be too odd if I asked you to keep that outfit on?"
Maura chuckled, "I don't know, you keep looking at me like you want to feed on me, like vampires do in those tv shows. I'm not sure how I feel about that."
"Whatever you feel like you want to do, I'll still be here when you get back down."
"Promise?"
"Of course, I'm the only way you can get to work tomorrow," Jane grinned and Maura gave her a gentle shove.
"You're such an ass Jane Rizzoli," she gave her head a shake before she went upstairs to change into some pajamas and take off her make up and wig.
Jane was pouring the water into the mugs now and placed the tea bags in the water, she went to sit on one of the stools, rubbing at her legs. Jane figured if Maura wore her regular pajamas she'd have less trouble focusing on their conversation they needed to have, to discuss where this was headed. Jane was slightly startled as Maura came down quietly and sat next to her.
"Hey," the medical examiner spoke quietly.
"Hey, I think the tea's done now," Jane grabbed both mugs and slid one towards Maura, she held the mug in both hands blowing at the hot water, enjoying the warmth.
"So, we should probably have that talk now, shouldn't we?"
"Yes, perhaps we should, just like you said at the bar we'd talk over some tea. Can I go first?"
Maura nodded, "By all means, go ahead."
"You already know how much I love your company, whenever I'm not at work or around you I feel sort of lost. You are one of the most important people to me, and I never want that to change. I'm not sure what to do next when it comes to deepening our friendship to something more. And what we did in the car, that kiss, it was more than I ever dreamed of and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't craving more, much more, but I'm uncertain of how much more I want at the current moment, and what if I can't live up to your expectations in the long run," she finished rubbing at her hand scars.
Maura took one of Jane's hands in hers, lifting it to her lips. "To be honest I'm afraid that I can't live up to your expectations, you mean so much to me, there's just so much love I have towards you. Every day I fear the possibility of losing you, your job is dangerous, and you risk your life pretty much every day. Whatever this is, I want more than I've wanted anything. Maybe we shouldn't focus on those expectations, it'll probably cause more stress in the long run. I want you in every possible way Jane and I don't want to rush anything and scare you off."
"I'm not going anywhere Maur, I'm glad I don't have to hide these feelings anymore, knowing we both feel the same about each other is a huge relief. I couldn't image a partner better than you," Jane sipped at her tea. "You could never scare me off, not that easily anyways."
"Yeah?"
"After everything that happened this evening, I'm definitely more open towards, an um... sexual awakening," she paused, biting her bottom lip. "With you..."
Maura was completely taken back and surprised by Jane's words, and noticed the way her cheeks became flushed. "Really?"
Jane nodded her head, before leaning over to whisper in Maura's ear, chills immediately shooting down her spine and back up. "I've tasted blood and I want more."
"How much more?" Maura asked, wanting to be absolutely sure.
"I'm sure I can determine that as it happens, you turned me on so much tonight in your costume, I'm not even sure how much control I have," she gulped down some tea since it cooled down some. "I've got an itch to scratch, I need assistance."
"Come here," Maura slid off of the stool and grabbed Jane by the hand, leading her to the couch, sitting down, Jane joining her. "I'm down for whatever you are, just I want this to feel good and right for you. Even if we start and you want to stop right away."
Jane nodded, looking her friend up and down before going in to kiss Maura. The kiss started out slow, trying to get a feel for each other, Jane wasn't sure where to put her hands so they rested on Maura's thighs, running up and down as Maura's tongue brushed against her friend's lips. Jane groaned gently and let her tongue slip into her mouth, Jane hands squeezed at Maura's thighs. Their lips pressed together a little bit longer, before Maura started kissing at Jane's collarbone, heading towards her neck, nipping gently at the flesh. "God Maura," the dark haired woman whimpered.
"Are you okay?" Maura asked which made Jane nod silently, her hands moving upwards to Maura's hips, Maura continued her kisses and draped her leg over Jane's, pulling her close, her hands on her back, tempted to slide her hands beneath her shirt but she thought it would be pushing it, so she pulled back slightly to look in Jane's eyes. "Jane... I uh... if I keep going I don't know if I can stop. I don't want you to wake up in the morning and regret this."
"I would never regret this, Maura, honestly if I could be a virgin again and give myself to you for my first time, I would. Don't let anyone else here this, but I'm so attracted to you. I want this, but if you think we should stop I won't feel offended or not good enough for you. No matter how much I want you to thrill me, chill me, and fulfil me at this given moment. You're such a tease though, getting me all worked up," she smiled, wanting Maura to know she wasn't hurt or feeling unwanted.
"I know it'll be worth the wait, I'm sure of it. I am sorry for getting you worked up though, I just... I want to do this right."
"It's really sweet that you want this whole thing to be perfect, and when that time comes I know I will be. Can I still spend the night right?" Jane looked into Maura's eyes.
"I would absolutely love it if you spent the night, you're not getting rid of me that easily."
"Good because after all of these years I finally know the truth," Jane kissed her cheek, pulling her close.
"You know Jane, this is like a dream come true. The one thing I wanted that I thought I'd never get."
"Well now you got it Dr. Maura Isles, you now have what you thought was unachievable. How does it feel to now have everything you've every dreamed of? You achieved the unachievable," she kissed the top of her head. "You have me as a best friend and now so much more."
"It feels great to get it all out to finally get what I've been wanting for a while, kind of disappointed that it took me so long to admit my feelings. After all that time I spent dreaming about it, I could have had it for a while now."
"Don't dream it, be it, is the saying I believe." Jane grinned. "I am so grateful that I get to be the person to make all your dreams come true," she pulled a blanket over their bodies as they snuggled closer together, enjoying the rest of the evening.
I really wasn't sure how to get the ending right, so I hope it was okay. I hope you all enjoyed Maura's bar performance and all the other festivities. Picturing Maura singing Sweet Transvestite and poor embarrassed Jane doing the Time Warp definitely was a treat in itself. Hope you enjoyed this two-shot, it was fun to write. Thoughts as always are welcomed with open arms.
