Disclaimer: I am not a doctor. (shocking, I know.) so, most if not everything has been googled and I hope I'm not wrong lol.

I wrote this chapter in roughly 24 hours. Which is crazy to me.

This is it people. The big chapter.

BIG WARNING: that tag that's been there since the start. The 'Attempted Suicide' tag. It's time! There is a suicide attempt in this chapter!

Toshinori had to talk to police officers, then to nurses, and doctors, and back to police officers, and then to Detective Tsukauchi, then back to the doctors. All about Inko and her quirk, and about the flashdrive (which he had given to Tsukauchi). He was, in all honesty, afraid he'd run himself hoarse by the end of the afternoon. He finally got a moment to himself as he stood outside of Inko Midoriya's room in the hospital while Mitsuki and Masaru stayed by Inko's side.

"Jesus Christ." Toshinori dragged his hand down his face and he went for his cellphone. He knew it had gone off a while ago, much to his own embarrassment in front of the doctor (he should really change that ringtone). He fished his phone out of his coat pocket. "At least things can't get worse, right?" He mumbled to himself before taking his phone out of sleep mode as he walked towards the waiting room in hopes of getting some water.

Toshinori never got to look at his phone when he heard a clatter coming from to his side that caused his head to turn towards the noise.

The world moved in slow-motion for Toshinori as he watched as a horde of nurses were running a gurney as it looked like they just came in from the outside. The slow motion continued, if anything it slowed down even more when Toshinori noticed the mop of curly green hair. 'No…' Toshinori's feet started to move before his mind fully did as it started out as a walk at first.

'It's someone else… right? Someone else with green curly hair?' Toshinori got closer, closer still, until he was able to see over the gurney and look at the person in hopes that he was right. That it wasn't who he thought it was. But unfortunately, he wasn't.

Toshinori watched as a nurse had to peel Izumi's right open and shine a flashlight into it as another nurse grabbed Izumi's scarred right arm to prep an IV into. "Her pupils are dilated, no sign of shrinkage." A nurse confirmed as she went to shine the light in Izumi's other eye.

"Sir-" A nurse spotted Toshinori and put her hand up to stop him. "Stay back-"

"What happened? Is she hurt?" It went in one ear and out the other as Toshinori continued to jog alongside the gurney. "Did she fall? Hit her head?"

"Sir-"

"Toshinori-" Suddenly the back of his shirt was grabbed as Present Mic held him back. "Don't get in their way."

It was then that Toshinori saw Recovery Girl. She was so small compared to the other nurses that he had missed her walking behind the gurney in a hurried shuffle. Recovery Girl didn't even stop to scold Toshinori, no, she had a fierce anger etched across her elderly face.

"Did… did Izumi get injured training, is that why Chiyo looks… well…"

'No, it's sunday.' his mind told him but it was too late and the question had been asked.

Hizashi shook his head. "Izumi just fainted in her dorm room. According to Mineta he was trying to apologize for what happened on friday. He said she turned really pale, she had trouble finishing her sentence, and started to sway before she collapsed right on top of him. The students tried calling you and Aizawa but neither of you picked up your phone's- wait a minute. Why are you here?"

Toshinori's face hardened a little at the news. "Inko Midoriya had to be admitted."

"What?!"

"Yeah, small world almost. Back to Izumi, why'd she collapse?"

Hizashi's mouth turned into a thin line before huffing out and putting his hands on his hips. "The official cause is shock, but dammit if I'm not mad at 1-A right now."

"Why? What did they do?"

"Toshi, Izumi has anorexia on top of bulimia."

"What?!" Toshinori felt a wave of blood exit his mouth and hit the floor below him. He knew Izumi was having body issues, but he didn't think it went that far.

Had she lied to him earlier that week when she said she was just on her period? Of course she had. Dammit. It only added to Toshinori's growing guilt as he knew now… he knew this wasn't just about body issues for Izumi. These were all cries for help and the unfortunate cries of a sexual assault victim. Fuck hindsight.

"Yeah. Apparently the whole class knew and nobody bothered to go to us about it before it got too out of hand! I have half a mind to give them all detention for this, but I'm not their homeroom teacher. Aizawa will have to deal with them, if he ever answers his phone, that is."

"Only… they did… at least Iida had." Toshinori whispered as he grabbed at his chest. His chest was feeling tighter as the guilt constricted at his airways and tightened around his neck like a noose. "Dammit, he came to me about it! I talked to Izumi and… I believed her when she told me she was on her period." He growled. "Dammit." he couldn't help but curse out in rage. "I didn't think it was anything more."

Hizashi growled out just as well but more in annoyance. "What the hell got into her if she's lying to you of all people?"

"..." Toshinori looked away from Hizashi at that. 'He doesn't know and I won't be the one to tell him. At least not now. He'll wake the comatose if he knew.' "I…I don't know." He lied all the same to Hizashi. "Is that why Recovery Girl looked so angry?" Toshinori decided to change the subject and Hizashi didn't seem to be bothered by it.

"Partially, I think, she smacked Bakugo a few times with her cane when he was the one to explain it to her. She wasn't too happy, but then Kaminari pulled her to the side and she became furious. I don't know what he told her, but it most definitely struck a nerve."

'Kaminari?... could he know?... He was the one to get Izumi away from Fujiwara. Did she tell someone after all? Or is it just a coincidence?' Toshinori's mind reeled for a moment before he sighed. This was all too much for one person in one day.

Hizashi crossed his arms over his chest and looked down. His long hair wasn't slicked up like normal, and it was clear he didn't even have time to put it up in a bun as it hung around his shoulders and face. Hizashi then removed his glasses and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Now… What happened to Inko? How did both mother and daughter end up in the hospital on the same day just minutes apart?"

Shouta Aizawa angrily kicked the door open to the meeting room he was summoned to. He felt like a certain enraged blonde teenager in his classroom.

Yes, Aizawa was furious. More at himself than anybody else at that moment. He had let Fujiwara into the dorms, let Fujiwara slip through their fingers, and what's worse? He never noticed Izumi's long and loud cry for help. He was a hero and-

-It was all infuriating to say the least.

An emergency meeting had been called by Detective Tsukauchi. Aizawa almost missed the call as he may (or may not) have been patrolling the area around the Midoriya's apartment in hopes of finding Fujiwara and (most likely) beating him until he was nothing but a greasy bloody pulp beneath his boots, but Aizawa had no such luck. However; because of his hunt from Fujiwara he had missed the frantic phone calls from Mic and his students.

According to the voicemails Izumi had fainted and needed to be escorted to the hospital. That only made Aizawa angrier. It actually made his blood boil in all honesty, but a majority of his anger was towards himself for not noticing sooner.

Their meeting was currently in UA as, according to the detective, this was absolutely something Nedzu needed to know. 'Great. So much for keeping it quiet for Izumi's sake.' Aizawa remembered thinking.

Well, it turns out a lot of people already knew about the situation at hand. When Aizawa entered the meeting room for this situation, he was greeted with who expected at first: Toshinori, the Detective, and Nedzu. But then he noticed the others: Chiyo, Nemuri, and Hizashi where all the people Aizawa wasn't expecting but knew were needed because of the situation…

So why the fuck was Mirio there. He had no right to be involved as far as Aizawa was concerned.

"Aizawa, please have a seat." Nedzu gestured to the empty seat beside Toshinori. Aizawa did as instructed and slowly sat down. The moment he was situated he immediately turned to Detective Tsukauchi.

The Detective had a laptop in front of him, the flash drive already plugged in. What really concerned Aizawa was the fact that the projector was up in the center of the room meaning they would be watching and viewing things from the flash drive and again he wondered why Mirio was here.

"Great, now that everyone is here, I can begin." The detective sighed out softly before rubbing his face with his hands.

"Wait." Aizawa couldn't take it. "I'm sorry to interrupt already but Mirio, why are you here?"

Mirio's eyes hardened a little. "I'm aware of what happened to Izumi. Eri knows just as well-" If Aizawa had water he would have spat it out. "But it's not just that, Mr. Aizawa, Eri is also in danger here, not just Izumi."

Aizawa felt ready to snap. "What do you mean-"

"If I could, please." The detective quickly stood gaining everyone's attention again. "We're getting ahead of ourselves. Mirio, Aizawa is a little behind on information."

Aizawa's body tensed as he felt his fingernails claw into his own pant leg. Anger flooded every pore of his body. 'If I ever see Fujiwara again the last thing he's going to see is my fist.'

"Alright, before I even begin, we are all aware of the situation involving Izumi, at least the barebones of it?" Tsukauchi inquired as he looked around the room.

"Toshinori explained it to me." Hizashi gritted his teeth in anger.

"...Ochaco told me." Nemuri whispered much to the shock of everybody else. "Not too long ago before Izumi fainted in fact. She had called me in tears because she felt torn about the whole situation. She promised Izumi wouldn't tell but… it was just something she couldn't keep secret. She tried to get a hold of you Aizawa but couldn't."

Toshinori blinked. "Young Ochaco knows?"

"Ochaco, Todoroki, and Kaminari." Mirio lowered his gaze to the table as he started to trace the wooden pattern with his finger. "That's what Eri told me. Todoroki was the one to confirm it to me."

"How does Eri know this information?" Nedzu was the one to ask before Aizawa could.

Mirio sighed. "From what she told me she was hiding in Izumi's closet. Apparently Izumi had some sort of crying fit, Eri described it as 'scarily loud' as she's never heard Izumi cry like that. Todoroki, Ochaco, and Kaminari were all there trying to get Izumi to calm down."

"That was today?" Aizawa questioned and Mirio nodded.

"Yeah, and apparently that was when Izumi let it slip to her friends. The… rape… that is." Mirio scowled and started to scratch at the table.

Aizawa made it a mental note to talk to Ochaco, Todoroki, and Kaminari separately after this was all done and sorted.

Hizashi was surprisingly quiet during this whole ordeal. Aizawa looked towards him and saw Hizashi had a hand clutching at his scalp, dug deep into his silky blonde hair, while looking ready not to explode in rage. Hizashi was purposely keeping himself quiet no doubt. One outburst from Hizashi and they'd all be on the floor or worse, deaf.

Chiyo had a frown on her face as she gripped her cane tightly. "Why was I not informed until it was too late?" Chiyo suddenly said in clear indignation. "Why did it take Kaminari to tell me after Izumi had fainted?"

Izumi told three people that Sunday morning and by the late afternoon almost all of their teachers knew. Not because her friends were bad friends but because they were worried for her and sometimes caring for a person is telling a secret you promised to keep.

"Well, it's too late to think about that now, Recovery Girl." The Detective told her. "Even if you would have been informed around the same time as Nemuri or Mirio it wouldn't have changed the fact that Izumi fainted."

Chiyo sighed in defeat. "I know. It just doesn't make it any less infuriating. That girl needs help."

"Trust me, I know how you feel." Aizawa growled as he raked his hands through his long hair. "My question is: Why didn't Izumi inform any of us? Why keep this quiet?"

"That's a good question, Aizawa. One I can answer." The detective swallowed. "After reviewing the flash drive. I can say one thing before answering your question: Izumi is actually rather lucky."

"She was raped!" Hizashi slammed his fist down in disgust. "How is that lucky?!" He managed to, thankfully, keep his voice down . It didn't cause hearing damage, but it was still loud enough to make everyone cover their ears.

"Because, the man who raped her isn't just a rapist. He's a serial murderer." Tsukauchi paused for a moment when nobody spoke up against that. Aizawa scowled all the same. "Fujiwara Hinoshi is someone who has been on our radar for a long while now. And as much as I hate to say it, Izumi is the link we needed to even make this connection."

"Over the past several years the bodies of single mothers and their daughters would pop up around Musutafu. Both victims were sexually assulted, but the way they died, it was like they just stopped breathing. We had no clue who was doing it or how. There would be DNA samples, but whoever this was wasn't in the system he always seemed to be three steps ahead of us." The detective explained and the room stayed deadly quiet now.

"It took years, but finally, Fujiwara made his first and probably most fatal mistake. All the women he targeted all had one thing in common. Either the mother or the daughter would be quirkless."

Toshinori's eyes widened. "Q-Quirkless?"

"Yeah, one case had both mother and daughter identified as quirkless, the very first case only the mother was quirkless, and so on."

'He said he was quirkless!' Inko's voice rang through Toshinori's mind. "That's how he does it… Inko, she told us that Fujiwara claimed to be quirkless. That scumbag. He claims to be quirkless to get closer to the family!"

"Izumi isn't quirkless and neither is her mother." Aizawa jumped in rather swiftly.

"This is where Fujiwara's mistake comes in. He believed either Izumi or her mother was quirkless. We have reason to believe it was Izumi whom he thought was quirkless."

Mirio scoffed at that. "How? She's attending UA!"

Tsukauchi looked at Toshinori before clearing his throat. "Izumi quirk didn't manifest until recently. So, for most of her life she was identified as quirkless."

"...What?" Aizawa turned to Tsukauchi. He wasn't the only one with an incredulous look on his face at this sudden bomb drop. "When exactly did her quirk manifest, if not from four to six years of age?"

"...We're getting off topic, that's not what matters right now. All that matters is that Fujiwara targeted someone he thought was quirkless." Tsukauchi explained to all of them. That was his biggest mistake and it was that mistake that led us to the here and now. Now, after talking to Toshinori, I have full reason to believe that Fujiwara didn't even know Izumi was in the hero course to start with, at least not until today."

"Wait, wait, rewind." Nedzu waved his little paws for a moment. "I'm sorry, but how could he even know that Izumi used to be quirkless in the first place?"

Tsukauchi scratched his face. "I'm glad you asked, actually. Are any of you familiar with Aldrea Middle school?"

"Izumi attended there, if I remember correctly." Toshinori couldn't help but grumble lightly at the mention of the old Middle school. That school always left him with a bad taste in his mouth.

"Exactly, that middle school kept documents of all the children they've taken care of. The documents are needed so the school can know how to care for someone with a certain quirk type. And roughly a year ago the school's system was hacked into. All the student information was leaked."

"But this was a year ago? Way before Fujiwara met Izumi." Toshinori thought about it. "Unless… he was scoping for quirkless middle school girls at that time…" His eyes became wide at the thought.

"Yes, it's true. A girl a year under Izumi was one of the unfortunate victims of this man, along with her single mother… but… and I cannot stress this enough, Yagi, Izumi was on Fujiwara's radar before that." Almost everyone perked up in surprise.

Tsukauchi started to type away on his laptop before clicking the mouse a few times to open a file. The projector mimicked this. "This is one of the videos on the flashdrive, don't worry, it's not explicit, but it is a little terrifying to think about."

He clicked on the video and there in the middle of the room it started playing.

The camera was a little shaky from the quality of the film; it was clear it was coming from a cell phone. For a moment all they saw was Fujiwara's dashboard as the camera almost seemed to violently sway as he was trying to keep the camera out of sight. This lasted for several seconds until he suddenly gasped and the camera was brought up just below the open window of his car or truck.

"There she is." Fujiwara whispered as he focused the camera right on Izumi.

"Son of a bitch…" Toshinori felt sick as he saw Izumi running along Takoba beach with a large tire under her right arm while holding a microwave up with her left hand. Toshinori himself appeared seconds later jogging not far along after her in his All Might form. 'Dammit, so he saw that she was training with me. even I couldn't scare him off of his perverted quest.' It made Toshinori's blood start to boil.

"Faster, Fangirl!" He barked out as he was able to keep pace with her easily.

"Yes, Sensei!" Izumi obeyed and surprisingly picked up the pace so she was ahead of him. The beach was slightly cleared meaning this had to be halfway through their ten month long training.

"Judging by the distance of the car and the fact that our voices come in clear he's actually pretty close… wait a minute, I remember this day.' Toshinori realized it when Izumi put the tire and the microwave down for a minute to lean on her knees.

"Young Midoriya, is everything alright?"

"I'm fine, I'm… I'm just a little hot." It wasn't a complaint, just a statement. She grabbed her water bottle and took a swig while wiping her forehead.

'Yeah, and I responded by… what did I do- Oh.'

"A little hot. No worries, I have just the cure-"

Izumi squealed when All Might had grabbed her by her middle, she had feebly kicked her legs, but it did little to nothing, and in one quick movement he tossed her, clothes and all, into the ocean. All Might let out a hardy laugh when Izumi came slinking up to the surface clearly unimpressed by this impromptu swim.

Only her sopping wet hair and stoic green eyes were visible to him. That was when the video ended, however Toshinori remembered exactly what she had said after he had tossed her.

"Keep laughing, Old man. One day, when you least expect it, I'm going to toss you next."

"Ignoring the obvious right now because it doesn't matter right now." Aizawa gritted his teeth as he put the fact that All Might and Izumi knew each other before UA aside and to the back of his head. "How long exactly has Fujiwara been planning on… hurting Izumi Midoriya?"

Tsukauchi swallowed at his question. "Fujiwara is a cunning man, but he's also incredibly stupid. He has each of his victims, the children that is, on this flash drive from videos to photos. Each are labeled and marked with time stamps. The video you just saw was the first entry."

"So… She's been on his radar for a while now."

"Yes, and now it's time to touch on more uncomfortable things… he recorded it. For those wondering."

"It looks like he records a lot- oh." Aizawa's boiling blood suddenly ran ice cold. Of course, Inko had implied it with her fantic yelling, but to know that… Yes, the attack was actually recorded… it made him sick.

"Before anybody asks. No, I won't subject you guys to it. Just know it happened last saturday night, and It looked to me that he used a nanocam of sorts. He had it on his person in clear view. Izumi, though obviously paralyzed, had movement in her eyes the whole time. I could tell, she didn't notice it. I think, if I had to guess: She was too scared to notice it."

"I need a cigarette." It was the final straw for Hizashi as he abruptly stood.

"Hizashi, you quit smoking." Aizawa told him. "Remember?"

"I'll bum one off of Ectoplasm then, I just… I need a minute." Hizashi stormed out without another word. In all Honesty, Aizawa was also starting to crave a cigarette of his own.

"Anybody else need a break?" Tsukauchi inquired when a moment passed the room. They just shook their heads and allowed him to continue. "Fujiwara likes to inflict fear on people, this much is true… and this is another reason why I see Izumi Midoriya and Inko Midoriya as lucky. I have every reason to believe that after years of planning and finally getting what he wanted that tonight would have been the night he would have killed them."

The air in the room turned heavy. Aizawa was now desperately craving smoke in his lungs. "Are you telling me… if Izumi hadn't come back to the dorms at three in the morning, she most likely would have been dead by now?" Aizawa's voice sounded foreign to him as it was teetering on the fine line of being angry. He knew his eyes had started to change.

'My bad, I'll just hang out with Izu then!' Fujiwara's voice echoed around Aizawa's mind. It bounced all over the place. If Aizawa hadn't called Fujiwara out at that moment for touching Izumi when she was clearly uncomfortable, would Fujiwara have attempted to talk to her? To get her to come back home so he could finish the job he started. Is that why he was so angry that morning? Because Izumi had thwarted his grand plan?

Aizawa and Toshinori locked eyes and it was clear for a moment that they both were having the same thoughts.

Mirio raised his hand. "Sir, with all due respect, you mentioned Eri was in danger just as well, but Eri doesn't match the description that Fujiwara's victims have. She's not quirkless and she doesn't have a mother."

"Right, Eri. This one is speculation on my part, but I have reason to believe Eri may be on Fujiwara's list for one reason and one reason only. Her age. I'll… just play the video."

It was the second to last video on Izumi.

Aizawa started to gnaw at the bottom of his lip when he saw where this took place. The park. Izumi had taken Eri to the park last thursday. So, this happened before she was raped. Like before the video was a little shaky for a few moments before Fujiwara had it situated. "Time to test this new camera out." Fujiwara breathed out and Aizawa saw his hands move down before he stood.

'It's clipped to his shirt, be it a tie or jacket.' Aizawa quickly caught on.

"Let's see… there you are." The camera moved with his body before he stopped suddenly on the slides in the park. Izumi had Eri in her lap before she went down the small yellow slide.

"Wee!" Izumi cheered as she threw her arms up as they went down the slide together.

"Wee~!" Eri copied with full happiness, her arms thrown up in the air so dramatically that she nearly smacked Izumi in the face.

"Who are you?" Fujiwara mumbled as he continued to watch the two of them. He sat on a less crowded bench that was in front of the slides. Other children happily ran around him and could be heard yelling in the background.

"Again! Again!" Eri cheered and Izumi effortlessly lifted the girl up and set her down on her shoulder.

"Okay, again." Izumi smiled up at Eri.

"She's a cutie, I'll give her that. Any relation? No, I don't think so, Inko would have told me."

Aizawa's hair was rising.

Together, Eri and Izumi went down the slide one more time. "Wee~!" Eri cheered all by herself this time around.

Izumi's head was scanning around with vigilant eyes. She had sensed that they were being watched.

"Shit." Fujiwara's arm was suddenly thrusted into view as it looked like he was trying to block his face.

Izumi didn't find who was watching them, but that didn't stop her from immediately doing the right thing in that situation. Though Fujiwara didn't move and looked like he was pretending to watch his phone, their voices could still be heard. "Okay, Eri, it's getting late now."

"Aw!"

"I know, but it's getting late. Shan't keep you for too long. Mr. Aizawa will have my head, but tell you what. I know there's an ice cream parlor not too far. Let's stop and get some on the way back."

"Okay!"

'I told that girl not to give Eri any desserts before dinner and what does she do?' Even given the situation at hand, Aizawa couldn't help but give just a teeny smile. Aizawa had foolishly thought that maybe the video would have ended there.

But it didn't.

Fujiwara had one more thing to say. "Cute kid. Wouldn't mind adding her to my collection."

"I'm killing him." Aizawa didn't even wait for the video to end.

"I think we all are, Shouta." Nemuri hissed between clenched teeth.

"It's safe to say that Fujiwara Hinoshi is a sick man. That being said, I think there'd be no harm in making sure Eri is safe and with someone at all times." Tsukauchi told them.

"Mirio, where is Eri now?" Toshinori inquired.

"With Tamaki and Nejire, don't worry, I made sure she was in safe hands before I attended this meeting."

"So, to recap. Fujiwara is a serial rapist and murderer who prays on the quirkless by claiming to be quirkless. He plans these murderers almost in a whole year in advance when Izumi was in middle school and considered quirkless, and Izumi, his most recent victim, is only alive because she felt safer at school than at home and now he may possibly be going after Eri. Is that all?" Nedzu inquired as he counted everything off on his furry paw.

"Yes." Tsukauchi nodded but then Toshinori spoke at the same time.

"No." Everyone turned to Toshinori in question as he scratched at his head. "There's just one more question left unanswered. Why did he leave the flashdrive at Inko's apartment? Why not keep it on his person?"

"..."

"..."

"..."

Wheels turned in everyone's head as they tried to think of a possible explanation.

Finally, Nemuri snapped her fingers. "It's a souvenir. A souvenir of his time at the Midoriya's. At least to him it is. While he's dating Inko, he keeps it at her place, and then when he moves on to his next victim he leaves it at their place. That's why. I think so anyways."

"He wasn't planning on breaking up with Inko-" Aizawa muttered.

"-No, he wasn't planning on Inko going mental and throwing all his shit out the window and finding the flashdrive." Toshinori corrected Aizawa.

"Well… thank goodness she did. Otherwise we may have never found this prick." Detective Tsukauchi almost seemed to smile at this. "And that's exactly what we're going to do. There will be no victims of this monster again."

"Wait. Detective. You never answered Aizawa's question. Why didn't Izumi tell anyone about the rape until it was too late?" Mirio suddenly inquired.

Tsukauchi frowned at that. "Right, it's in the video of Izumi's rape. Fujiwara threatened to kill her mother."

Izumi sat there.

It took hours for the doctors to get her back up and running again, but they did it and now here she sat.

'I'm tired. I'm so tired. Tired of all of it.' She thought as she threw her head back a little. 'I'm done fighting it. I'm ready.'

She looked at the hospital bed where letters laid neat and orderly in a row. She did as she promised her friends and informed Aizawa in the letter. This was easier than talking. She didn't have enough paper to write to everyone in her class, so she settled on writing one letter for her classmates, one to Mr. Aizawa, one to All Might, and one to Mirio.

Mirio's had one of her hairs taped to it. She hoped that'll be enough and hoped he wouldn't be too grossed out by it.

Of course she'll miss Eri, but Eri's young. Eventually she'll be just a faded memory to the little girl.

Izumi quietly kicked her feet as she shut her eyes. A nice breeze hit the back of her neck and she looked down. She was on the… fourth floor? Yeah, death should be swift. Izumi slowly breathed out as she shifted against the window sill. She dipped her head back again and swallowed a persistent lump in her throat while keeping her eyes closed.

'Yes, my friends will be sad, but… it'll be worth it in the end. I just… I can't keep dragging them down with me. It's better this way. It's like Kacchan suggested, maybe I'll wake up with a different life. It'll be exciting. A new adventure… my only regret is… letting Fujiwara win.'

Izumi wiped away a stray tear that fell down her cheek. 'It'll be okay.'

She swallowed hard and…

Izumi smiled while another tear cascaded down her cheek. Her smile was shaky, but it was still a smile. She'd decided after she woke up that she'd die with a smile on her face. To show her loved ones that she wasn't in pain, that this is what she wanted and for once- for once in a long time she was the one in control. She can control this.

Izumi looked up at the ceiling, her breath quickened and her smile fell as a cry threatened to escape her mouth. 'No! NO!'

The smile was back as even more tears escaped her eyes and down her cheeks. 'Fujiwara can't take this smile away from me.'

'What are you doing!?'

'Stop!'

Izumi heard a voice in her head. It wasn't her voice, it was femine, but it wasn't hers.

'The vestiges…' She tightened her grip on the window sill. She felt her body rock back a little. Izumi felt angry. Her anger swelled up deep inside of her and she shut her eyes tightly.

"Stay out of this." She growled out loud. "You can't stop me! I'm in control here! Not you!" Izumi looked at the heart-rate sensor on her finger and ripped it off, chucking it to the floor. Instantly, the heart rate monitor started to flat-line.

'Now or never!'

"Stop!" It was Nana reaching out to her. Izumi could feel her desperately trying to hold her hand out for Izumi to take. Izumi didn't want her help. Izumi held on to both sides of the open window sill and held her head far back. She was going down head first.

The door to her hospital room opened at that moment. It wasn't a nurse, but rather her mother.

"I…Izumi?" Her mother whispered in shock as she stepped into the room. Her eyes wide and watery.

Izumi's hands trembled against the window sill now. When did her mother get here… 'Wait, is Momma in a hospital gown, same as me?'

Yes, yes she was.

Inko held her hands out. "Sweetheart, please… get off of the window. You're scaring mommy."

Izumi shook her head. "I can't…" She whispered as more tears fell. She knew she looked crazy, especially to her mother as Izumi was still smiling.

Inko took a step forward. "You can. You can for mommy, Izumi." Her mother reached for her, but Izumi wouldn't give her the chance. "It's okay-"

Izumi Midoriya pushed herself out of the window.

She was falling, falling, falling, all Izumi could hear was the rushing wind violating her hearing as her hair wildly whipped in every direction, until…

She felt nothing.

But she wasn't dead.

Izumi knew she wasn't dead but she was too scared to open her eyes. Izumi just stayed there, hands pressed tightly to her eyes. Until… she realized she was floating. Up, up, up. She floated. Finally, she peeked through her fingers. She saw no one, no hero saving her from her death, as she continued to slowly, inch by inch, float up.

Up, up, up, towards-

Her mother.

Inko Midoriya was hanging half out of the window. Both her hands stretched out in desperation as she opened and closed each hand in synchronization. Izumi moved with her mothers hands, up… up… up…

Izumi was dumbfounded as she was eventually eye level with her mother.

"I don't understand." Izumi whispered as she moved closer to her mother, until she was eventually safe in her mothers arms. "You can only bring small things towards you. Your quirk was the first I've ever analyzed. " Her mother was warm as she held Izumi into a tight hug.

"I'll repeat to you what I told Fujiwara. You'll always be my baby to me." Inko whispered as the two of them fell back into the hospital room. "My small baby." Inko sniffled softly as she nuzzled Izumi's hair with her nose.

Izumi sniffled softly just as the dam of emotions just broke and she held on to her mother for dear life as the two of them laid on the hospital floor rocking back and forth "I'm sorry! I… I'm so sorry! I just…" Izumi sobbed into her mothers shoulder.

"Shh…" Inko ran her fingers through Izumi's messy hair. While she continuously shushed her daughter. "I'm here, baby. I'm here."

So, the biggest inspiration for this chapter, especially the end of this chapter, has to be Cody Fry's "Underground." The symphony version.
