Baby Shower

While Monroe's parents were visiting, they overheard plans being discussed about throwing a baby shower for Adalind.

While traditionally men didn't attend baby shower's, the group all agreed that they were far from traditional, and Adalind would want them all there with her as she celebrated having a baby.

To keep Adalind distracted and not risk her ruining her surprise, it was decided for Monroe to take Adalind to the farmer's market, claiming that he wanted to talk with her about decorating for the Holiday Season, allowing the rest of the gang to decorate for her party.

It was Nick's idea to have Adalind's baby shower before his birthday and father's day.

"She'll never expect it. She'll be completely surprised."

Everyone agreed with him.

"The grimm is pretty clever." Burt commented.

"He has his moments. Rare as they are." Monroe said.

"When he's not running headfirst into danger." Rosalee added.

"Why don't I help with Adalind's baby shower?" Alice offered. "I have some expertise in these matters."

"Keep in mind, mom, she's a hexenbiest." Monroe warned.

"If a hexenbiest pregnancy is anything like a blutbad pregnancy, I'm sure she will be craving lots of food."

"According to Nick, they've had to buy another chest freezer just to hold all of the ice cream."

"Sounds about right."

"Lucky for us, the eisbiber have agreed to cater." Rosalee gave a sigh of relief.

"It's quite fortunate that Nick is such a sweetheart and has made such helpful friends." Alice stated.

There were two things to take into consideration for Adalind's baby shower. One, that she loved things that were elegant. Two, that she had a very large appetite.

Nick also made sure to remind everyone that his wife was allergic to tomatoes. It was largely implied that should he find a raw tomato anywhere near her, they would see the type of grimm all wesen feared.

He even insisted on checking all of the food before the start of the party, just to make sure there was nothing there that could make her sick.

"He's a little overprotective." Burt commented.

"He's a lot overprotective." Wu, who was helping out, replied. "After everything he's been through, no one can really blame him. Nick admitted that he sometimes wakes up in the middle of the night and reaches for Adalind, just to make sure she's really there with him. And with her being pregnant, his fear of losing her is stronger. We're all fully aware that his sanity won't survive if anything happens to his family."

"Adalind enjoys the reassurance of Nick's touch, too." Rosalee said. "For her, there's no such thing as being loved too much. She needs it just as much as Nick does."

"They are perfectly matched. It's impressive." Alice commented with awe.

"Uncle Monroe's car just pulled in." Diana ran into the room and announced.

Adalind fought back the tears of joy when she saw all of her friends and family there to celebrate her having a baby.

She could scarcely believe that her life was filled with so much love. It wasn't that long ago where she was always alone and in fear for her life. Certain that everyone around her would try to betray her.

This third pregnancy was so much better than her first two, where Adalind was constantly in fear for her life. But now she was surrounded by love. And she had someone who always made it obvious he would do anything to protect her.

She never felt safer or more loved than when Nick wrapped his arms around her, held her tight and kissed her tenderly.

She got that feeling of being cherished again as Nick put his arm around her and guided her to her seat.

Adalind was certain that every pink and white flower in Portland was decorating the venue. Wreaths, garlands, and arrangements adorned the table and walls.

An English style tea was the theme of her party. Ceramic tea sets, each painted with a floral design, were placed on the tables.

While it was very beautiful, Adalind was a little suspicious at the finger sandwiches that were on the multi tier trays.

Seeing her dubious look, Rosalee laughed and reassured her best friend, "Don't worry, those are just for you to snack on for now. The eisbiber will be bringing out more food once that food that is already on the table is gone."

"Then hand me a tray. The baby wants to eat." Adalind declared.

Phoebe Wurstner poured Adalind a cup of decaf tea while Nick loaded her plate with a large variety of treats.

"Were you surprised, mom?" Diana asked.

"A little." Adalind admitted. "Though I thought it was a little strange that Monroe wanted to walk through shops after we went to the farmer's market while we discussed plans for the Holidays. And then I knew something was up when he didn't want to stop to have some cold drinks. He practically rushed me to the car after we put our purchased items away at his house. We usually have tea and some sweet pastries after going to the farmer's market."

"I guess you should have known better trying to hide things from a detective's wife." Burt commented.

"Mon's really smart. Dad is always saying so. He says she's as smart as she is pretty." Diana said.

"I'm a very lucky man." Nick smiled broadly.

Adalind looked at him adoringly making it obvious the feeling was mutual.

"Do you know what you're having?" Alice asked as they ate.

"A girl." Adalind answered. "I didn't want to wait to find out."

"It's my curse in life to be surrounded by smart, beautiful women." Nick said, faking a put upon sigh.
