Chapter 2: Red

Outside, her old red truck waited. At least that hadn't changed. No one ever liked her truck but it was perfect to her. Every time she looked at it, it made her imagine a time when things were made to last. She climbed inside, freezing at the sight of The Evidence. He had taken away everything that meant something to her. His insistence that it would be as if he'd never existed. And yet, there it was. The Evidence.

Suddenly she felt a wave of rage surge through her. How dare he!

Bella grabbed the nearest thing, a screwdriver someone had left on her floorboard, and stabbed at the point where the stereo met the dash until she could get it wedged and began to pry it out. It took a lot of effort and she stopped many times to bash at the radio and scream but by the time it fell into the floor she felt calm. Her dash looked like shit but she didn't care.

He had lied. How often had he lied to her? She shook her head and released a heavy sigh. It didn't matter. They were gone. He was gone.

Looking at her dash she realized this was a problem she would take care of somehow. No more worrying what he thought or dreading him trying to fix things.

She took a deep breath and before she could let herself lose the courage, she drove towards Jake's house.
