Hello again! It's me, PuzzleMaster1998 here with another new story!

It's Medabots time!

I came across this series by accident, and immediately fell in love with it! It's so interesting! I love the different designs of the Medabots, and the storyline is interesting (but it could use some work honestly)!

This story will contain: adventure, romance, robattles, transformations, magic, and many other things!

This may or may not be my only Medabots story. Depends on how this story does.

Disclaimer: I do not own Medabots. That privilege goes to Natsume and Nelvana Limited.

Medabots: The Mysterious Lab

It was a calm afternoon in Riverview, Japan. People were walking along its streets heading to various locations, while others were talking about the latest Medabot parts that had been announced.

Medabots were self-aware robots created for people to use by the Medabots Corporation. Most Medabots stood about 3 feet tall and were made of six pieces total: four Parts (one head, two arms and a set of legs) attached to a Tinpet, and a Medal that is its brain. A Tinpet was the basic frame, or skeleton of the Medabot. A Medal was a hexagonal metallic piece that acted like the mind of a Medabot, each with its own personality. They usually were golden-colored and had a figure on their center, representing what kind of Medal they were. Sometimes, they might have a letter or symbol on their top. Due to their customizability by exchanging parts and to how easy it was to buy one at convenience stores, Medabots were very popular, especially with Robattles, a sport where these robots battle between themselves.

In one of the several neighborhoods located in Riverview was a medium-sized one-story house made of brown brick. It had a decent front and back yard, the latter of which was fenced in. The front door was white in color, and the numbers 157 were on the black mailbox at the end of the driveway.

Inside, a teenage boy sat on his living room couch with remote in hand, having just turned on the tv. He had slightly tanned skin, light brown hair, and bright blue eyes. He was wearing red shorts, socks with Medabots on them (in this case they were CAT-type Medabots), a leather necklace with a fox and cat made of some sort of purple gem or stone as the centerpiece, and a blue t-shirt with a red fox on it. This 18 year old was Gavin Woodring, an orphan who unfortunately had never been adopted.

Gavin sighed as he saw another commercial for new Medabots appear on tv. "A race car Medabot? Interesting," He said, setting the remote down as he watched the commercial. When he saw the price, he said, "I have more than enough money to get that Medabot or any Medabot and a Medal." He was of course referring to the rest of the 4 million dollars he had gotten from the national lottery several months before, which was for 8 million dollars. But after the government got to the money and after he bought the house and everything for it, he only had around a million left. "But," He sighed again. "None of them feel right for me."

Gavin had always wanted to be a Medafighter ever since he was a kid. But he was never fortunate enough to have the money to get a bot and a Medal. So, he would watch the battles instead. But now that he had the money to get what he wanted, he couldn't find a bot or medal that felt right.

He shook his head as he turned off the tv, before getting up and heading to the kitchen to make himself dinner. As he sat down at the table with a plate of lasagna and a glass of milk, he closed his eyes and began to pray. "Dear Kami. Thank you for giving me a second chance at life in this world. Thank you for this house, for this food, for everything. Kami, I need your help figuring out what Medabot and Medal to get. I really do. Kami, thank you for being there for me. In your name I pray, Amen."

As Gavin ate, he thought about the different types of Medabots there currently were, as well as the different medals. 'I could get a custom bot,' He thought. '…Nah. I'm not good enough with designing a bot. And even if I was, I still wouldn't know what medal to get.'

Once he finished eating, he placed his dishes in the sink before heading off to the bathroom to take a shower. After his shower, he watched a few robattles on the tv before he headed off to bed. As he got under his covers and closed his eyes, he thought, 'Well, tomorrow's another day. Maybe I'll figure out what Medabot and medal I want.' With that thought in mind, he fell asleep.

Gavin's dreamscape

Gavin and his Medabot companion had finally done it! They had won the World Robattle Championship! As Gavin and his Medabot waved to the people in the stands, he could hear the people cheering for him. "Gavin! Gavin! Gavin!"

Suddenly, the cheering stopped, causing him to become confused. "What in the world?" He asked as he looked around, only to see that the stands were empty and he was the only one there. "Where is everyone?"

"Gavin."

"Huh? Who said that?" He asked, looking around once more. He noticed with a start that his surroundings had changed. He was now standing on a grassy hill that had a sign on it that read 'Jones Park.' "Ok. What in the world is going on?" He said as he looked at the sign. "First I was in the arena with my Medabot, and now I'm suddenly at Jones Park? Is my mind trying to tell me to go outside more?"

His surroundings shifted one more time, and he found himself standing in front of a large cave in a hill with two lone trees on either side of the entrance, which had a sign next to it that read 'Come find me.'

"Whaaaat?" was all he could say as he stared at the sign, before looking right back at the cave. The sign then stretched out towards him as he found himself entering the cave, and a mouth formed on it.

"Come find me!" The sign cried, before hitting him on the head, knocking him unconscious.

Gavin's eyes shot open as he sat up in bed, breathing heavily. He looked over to the clock on the nightstand next to him and saw that it was 6 in the morning. He started breathing slower as he calmed down, though he was still confused about the dream. "What in the world was that dream about?" He asked himself as he got out of bed and got dressed. The words of the sign echoed in his mind as he went to the kitchen and made himself some breakfast.

As he ate, he mulled over what had happened in his dream. 'Alright, so after my typical dream of me and my Medabot winning the championships I appeared in Jones Park, and then I appeared in front of a cave, where I was then told by a sign to "come find it,"' He thought. 'Did it mean to come find the cave?'

Curious, he pulled out his phone and looked up Jones Park. "Huh, so it's a real park," He said as he looked at a map of the place. "And it's not far from here." He tapped his chin in thought before he shrugged. 'It wouldn't hurt to check out the place. I mean, I don't have anything planned for the day, so why not spend the time looking for a cave that probably doesn't exist,'

Having made up his mind, he got up from the table, placed his dishes in the sink, and went to the bathroom to freshen up. Once he had done so, he grabbed his keys and went to the garage, making sure to lock the door behind him before he got into his car and opened the garage. He then backed down the driveway, closed the garage, and drove away, using his phone's GPS to direct him to the park.

About ten minutes later, he pulled up to the empty parking lot of Jones Park, and saw that there was a playground, as well as a large forest. Once he got out of the car, he started making his way to the forest, soon entering it. He walked and walked for what felt like hours, not seeing any signs of the cave from his dream.

Right as he was about to give up, he came across a clearing that had a large hill in the middle of it and froze. For at the base of the hill were two lone trees. And in between them was the mouth of a cave, with freshly broken rocks and trees surrounding it.

"Oh my God it's real!" He cried with wide eyes as he stared at the cave, before slowly moving towards it. "I wonder what's inside it," He muttered as he peered into the cave, trying to see what was inside.

He sighed when he couldn't see anything. "Well, there's only one thing I can do now," He said. "And that's explore this cave!" He then headed into the cave, wanting to find out what was inside.

It quickly started to get dark in the cave as he got further and further from the entrance, so he pulled out his phone and activated the flashlight feature so he could see. The bright light emitted by his phone revealed several broken columns on the floor, as well as some fallen stalactites.

Something gleamed in the light, catching his attention. He aimed his flashlight at it and let out a gasp. "Is that metal?!" He exclaimed, walking over to the gleaming object to get a better look. His eyes widened upon seeing that it was indeed metal. It appeared to be buried in the floor.

He got down on his knees and began to dig, pushing the dirt behind him as he went. Soon, he had dug away a large patch of the ground, revealing a large metal panel about 6 feet wide with what appeared to be a metal hook sticking out from a smaller panel that was 4 feet wide.

He closely examined the hook, and saw that it appeared to be able to be turned. He reached out, and carefully twisted the hook, before pulling it. The whole panel then began to raise up quite smoothly, revealing a dark opening to him. "I wonder where this leads to?" He asked as he peered inside, only to be momentarily blinded as the opening lit up to reveal several metal stairs leading into what appeared to be a corridor.

"O-kaay, did not consider that as being a possibility," He said as he stared at the stairs for several minutes, before deciding to head down them. He tentatively set a foot down on a step, holding his breath as he did so, afraid the step might not be able to hold his weight.

To his pleasure and surprise though, it was able to hold it just fine. "Well then, time to explore," He said as he started down the stairs, which did in fact lead to a white and silver corridor lit up by lights in the ceiling and walls. "Wow, I can't believe this is here," He stated as he looked around at the corridor while walking down it. "And in such good condition."

He soon reached the end of the corridor, and saw that there was a white door with gold edges before him. He reached a hand out to touch the door, and jumped when the door slid open, having startled him.

"Man, I wonder what's even in here," He stated as he stepped through the now-open doorway into another corridor exactly like the previous one, except this one had gold circles on the doors in front of him as well. He soon reached the doors, and, when they didn't immediately open, placed a hand on them. "Why isn't it moving?" He asked aloud as he pushed on one of the doors, only for the two to start sliding open, revealing total darkness lay beyond them. "Huh. I guess it was just a little stuck."

He then pulled out his phone once more, and activated its flashlight function, before aiming the beam of light into the darkness ahead. The beam revealed that the floor continued on for several feet, and upon seeing this, he stepped forward.

As soon as he stepped through the doorway, bright lights turned on, causing him to quickly cover his eyes. "Really?! Again with the automatic lights?!" he complained as he rubbed his eyes a bit, before slowly opening them. After several seconds had passed, his eyes had fully adjusted to the light, and they widened with surprise at what he saw.

He was standing in a large gray room about the size of a garage. A large black screen filled the middle portion of the back wall, while two opaque glass tubes were set up against one wall, reaching from the floor to the ceiling. The floor was light gray in color, and made of metal like the walls and ceiling, which were tan in color.

"What in the world did I just find?" Gavin said as he looked at the room for several seconds, before he started moving again. He slowly walked over to the computer screen and saw that there was a single blue button sitting just below the screen. "Huh, wonder what it does?" He then reached out a pushed the button while thinking 'Please don't activate a weapons system!'

There was a loud "Click!" and then a humming sound as the panels around the blue button rose up and a large keyboard smoothly slid out.

A green button on the keyboard then began to gently flash, catching his attention.

"Well, at least I didn't activate a weapon's system," he said again as he looked at the keyboard. "So what's this do?" He continued, reaching out and pressing the green button.

The blank screen then lit up with a bright green light, startling him a bit, while the button slid back and was covered by a metal panel. The screen stayed green for several seconds, before going black again, this time with a green horizontal line running right through the middle of it. He opened his mouth to speak, but was prevented from doing so when he heard a yawn and saw the green line began vibrating on screen.

"Well, hello there," A somewhat nerdy sounding female voice said, startling him.

"Yipe!" Gavin said as he jumped back a bit. "Who said that?!"

"Why, I did," The female voice replied from in front of him, confusing him even more. He then saw that two white rectangles were on the screen above the green line and were spaced far apart. The rectangles then blinked, revealing that they were actually a pair of eyes.

"Uhhh, who are you?" He asked the screen, seeing that it was apparently sentient.

"My name is Doctor Alphys," The voice replied. "Who are you?"

"I'm Gavin," He said. "Gavin Woodring."

"What an interesting name," Doctor Alphys replied. "And what are you exactly?"

Gavin arched an eyebrow upon hearing that question. "Um, a human," He answered her. "What else would I be?"

"I assumed you were an evolved form of Medalorian like me, but I am apparently wrong," She replied. "Do Medalorians still exist outside?"

"Ma'am, I don't even know what a Medalorian even is," He replied honestly.

"I'll take that as a no," Alphys said, some sadness in her voice. "Let me see how long I've been under." A timer then appeared on the screen, and began running quickly, starting from zero seconds. This timer went on and on for a few minutes, before it eventually stopped at 2,345 years, 300 days, 16 hours, and 36 seconds. "Oh. My. God. I've been asleep for that long?!"

"Um, it looks like it," Gavin replied, not sure what else to say.

"I thought I'd be asleep for only a few years!" Alphys said to herself with a worried look. "How could I sleep for that long?!"

Gavin was silent at this point, not sure what he could say.

"Oh, I must have slept through the timer I set!" She continued, before she let out a gasp. "My friends! I forgot all about them! Gavin, I need you to help me check on my friends."

"Um, sure," Gavin replied. "What do I need to do?"

"Wonderful! Alright, you need to press these three buttons," Alphys said as three buttons lit up on the keyboard. One had the image of an open door on it, another was colored purple, and the final was gold in color.

"Alright," he said as he pushed the three buttons on the keyboard. There was then a loud "HISSS!" behind him, causing him to turn around. The opaque tubes were turning clear, revealing two large robots were inside, floating in a clear liquid of some sort.

In the left tube, the robot was about 5 feet 6 inches tall and shaped like an anthro kitsune, with nine tails floating behind it, and was colored dark purple, with silver tips on the tails. The robot also had silver on its muzzle and claws. It was wearing a light purple strapless metallic dress that seemed to barely contain its large set of breasts, and split open right above its knees in front and behind. A silver sash was wrapped around its waist, while purple sleeves hung on her arms, with silver rings on them.

In the right tube, the robot was about 5 foot 4 in height and shaped somewhat like an anthro cat, a long light blue tail with a male plug at the end. She, as he determined by the large pair of breasts on her chest, had a white diamond-shaped head, two closed eyes with two long eyelashes, and a crescent-shaped mouth. From the back of her head a tuft of blue hair stuck out, and on the top of her head a pair of pointed protrusions resembling cat ears stuck out. She was wearing a white metallic outfit that looked similar to a qipao, which was a form-fitting dress that had the skirt slit partway up the sides. She also had a white collar, white shoulder pads, and a blue band around her waist. She was also wearing black leggings that ended in white boots with blue toes. Her arms were pure white, while her hands had white palms and blue fingers.

"Oh good! They're alright!" Alphys exclaimed happily. "I better wake them up. Gavin, I need you to press the buttons located at the bottoms of their tubes. That'll wake them."

"Um, sure," Gavin replied as he walked over to the tubes and looked at their bases. 'Why the fuck are they so busty!?' he thought as he spotted two green buttons that had risen up from the tube bases. 'Why?!' He then pressed the buttons, and stepped back, hearing a loud hum coming from underneath the tubes. Then, he saw that the level of the liquids in the tubes were starting to lower.

He watched as the liquid continued to drain and drain and drain, until the tubes were completely empty, leaving the robots hanging in the tubes via wires and other tubes, both dripping with the liquid. An even louder hum then kicked in, before he started seeing heat shimmering in the tubes as they fogged up.

This continued for several minutes, before eventually, the tubes cleared up, revealing the robots were now completely dry. The glass tubes then slid up into the ceiling, before the robots were lowered by the wires and tubes onto the floor, their feet firmly flat on the ground.

There was silence for several seconds, before their eyes suddenly opened, revealing the fox had pink eyes and the cat had yellow eyes. The tubes and wires then detached from the robots and slid up into the tops of the tubes, which then covered the center of themselves with a silver plate.

The two robots then let out loud yawns and began doing various stretches.

"Ah, that was a good rest," The fox said with a mature female voice that sounded somewhat wise and gentle. As she spoke, he saw that her mouth appeared to be purple in color, and she had pretty sharp teeth.

"Yeah, it was," The cat replied as she stretched her arms, her voice sounding less mature than the fox's and more energetic. Her mouth glowed a light blue in color.

Their eyes then landed on Gavin and arched their eyebrows. "What is that?" The cat said, cocking her head to the side.

"I have no idea," The fox replied. "Maybe it's an evolved form of wildlife?"

'"Wildlife?!"' Gavin thought with some rage. 'I am not an animal! I am a human being!' But before he could respond to the robots, Alphys spoke up.

"Amber! Carla! You're okay!" She said, causing the two robots to instantly look at the screen, where the face of Alphys was. "Oh thank goodness!"

"Alphys!" The two robots cried out, quickly heading over to the computer screen.

"How are you, my friend?" The fox asked her.

"I'm okay," Alphys replied.

"How long have we been asleep? Has the war stopped?" The cat asked her, only for Alphys to go silent.

She was silent for at least a minute, which worried the two robots greatly.

"Alphys? How long have we been asleep?" The fox repeated.

Alphys didn't speak. Instead, she just pulled up the timer, and let it run.

Gavin stood quietly behind the robots, watching them. When the timer came to a stop, Alphys returned. "Yeah, we've uh, been asleep for, um, a long time," She said.

"For over 2,300 years!" The cat exclaimed with rage and shock, startling Gavin a lot. "We slept that long?! How?!"

"I uh, am fairly certain I slept through the alarm I had set," Alphys meekly replied.

"You WHAAAAAT?!"The cat screamed at her, sharp claws popping out of her fingertips.

"I'm sorry!" Alphys replied quickly and quietly, shrinking down and sitting in a top right corner as tears began to form in her eyes. "I'm sorry! I'm sorry!"

"YOU BETTER BE!" The cat yelled, causing Alphys to start shaking. "Because of you, we've probably lost everyone we knew!"

'Okay, she has a point, but she needs to calm down,' Gavin thought before he spoke. "Ma'am, could you please calm down?" He asked politely.

"NO, I will not calm down!" The cat yelled, turning to him with an enraged look on her face. "And stay out of this. It's none of your business."

The fox nodded in agreement with her on that point.

"Hey, I was the one who found this place and woke you all up, so you could say it is my business!" Gavin snapped at them. "And I think that Alphys's oversleeping helped you out here!"

"HOW DARE YOU SAY THA-MMMPH!" The cat's mouth was covered by one of the fox's tails, and two more of her tails wrapped around her body, pinning her limbs down. She then proceeded to struggle fiercely.

"Why do you say that creature?" The fox asked him.

"Because, I'm pretty sure the Medalorians are probably extinct," He replied. "Or there could be some hiding around the world. I'm not sure. But I do know this. I've never heard of a Medalorian before until today. Maybe the war you were talking about got so bad everyone was killed, and only you guys survived. If that is the case, what if you'd woken up while the war continued to go on? You could have been killed."

The fox arched an eyebrow upon hearing that, while the cat calmed down a bit. "He could be right," The fox said to the cat and Alphys after several seconds. "We've been asleep so long, we don't know what the world is like anyomre. And with how violent everyone was getting during the war, it could have ended the way he suggested."

"Oh, I hope not," Alphys replied.

"I do too, but there's really only one way to know for sure," The fox said. "We leave the lab."

The cat then managed to spit out the fox's tail from her mouth as she said, "Hell yeah! Let's do that!"

"Hold your horses Carla," The fox said to the cat as she began setting her down on her feet. "Alphys needs to transfer to her body."

"Wait, Alphys isn't an AI?" Gavin said with surprise, his eyes widening a bit.

"No, she's a Medalorian like us," The fox replied with a smile as she let go of the cat, apparently named "Carla," before Alphys spoke again.

"Okay, if you say so girls. I'll go ahead and start the transfer and awakening process," Alphys said, before her screen was replaced by a spinning ball along with a percentage that was slowly growing towards one hundred percent. There was a loud hum, before a panel in the wall next to where the tubes had been opened up, followed by another tube coming forward via a large robotic claw, leaning back at an angle.

Once the tube was all the way inside the room, the tube was tilted up till it was straight up, with many cables and tubes attached to the top and bottom.

Inside was Alphy's body.

She was a robotic naga that was about 9 ½ feet long, and was gold in color. She had a large hood that had white swirls and gem designs on it, and white nails on her fingers, while a white stripe ran down the back of her tail. She was wearing yellow metal shoulder pads, a yellow metal shirt that hugged her large breasts and went down to her waist, and a yellow belt that had a very large diamond in the middle and multiple smaller diamonds around it.

"Wow," Gavin said as he stared at her. She was beautiful, just like the others. Her tube began to drain itself of the fluid, and once it was done, began to heat dry her.

Once that was done, the glass of the tube retracted, and she was lowered onto the base of the tube, stopping only when most of her tail was on the floor. After a few seconds had passed, her eyes opened, revealing they were amber in color, and she began to move, putting a hand to her head as the tubes and wires disconnected from her body and slid back into the top of the tube.

"Ugh, transferring my mind always feels weird," She said as she slithered off the tube bottom, which then sild back into the wall along with the top, before the panel slid back into place. She then began to stretch, sighing as she did so.

"Hey Alphys," Gavin said, catching her attention. "What are you guys going to do once you leave the lab? You know that once you're spotted by other humans, it's just going to be a matter of time before they try to capture you."

"Hmmm, that is true," She replied as she put a hand to her chin in thought. "You have any suggestions?"

"I might," he answered her. "You see, there are these self-aware robots created by a corporation called 'Medabots.' Most of them are about 3 feet tall and all have six pieces: a head, two arms, a set of legs, a skeleton called a Tinpet, and a Medal that serves as the brain. Most people have them, and many use them for Robattles. You three could pose as new Medabots and stay with me."

"Hmmm, what do these Medals look like?" Alphys asked him. 'It's gotta be a coincidence that their name starts with the same letters as our species did, but I have to be sure.'

"Um, they're hexagonal in shape, made of metal, and usually gold-colored with a figure on it or sometimes a letter or symbol," he replied.

"….Oh my god," Alphys said, shock in her voice. "Oh. My God."

"What? What is it?" He asked her.

"The Medals. They're our kind's brains!" Alphys replied, causing Gavin's eyes to widen with shock.

"What?!" He said with shock, while the fox gained a sickened look on her face along with Alphys. 'Oh my god. That's sick!'

"They're doing what?!" Carla yelled with rage, her claws popping out again. "Oh, when I get my hands on those people, I'm gonna rip them a new one!"

As Gavin stood there, running over everything he knew about Medabots and Medalorians now, he realized something. "Wait, hold on a minute," he said. "You've been asleep for over 2300 years, right? How big was the war that was going on when you went to sleep?"

"It was the biggest of all time," The fox answered him. "Everyone was fighting."

"Why?" He asked them.

"Because that's what our culture was about," She replied.

"Well then, since the war was so big and everyone was fighting, a lot of people died, right? So, bodies would have been just laying around, and flesh degrades faster than metal does. So, after a couple thousand years, there would probably be only a handful of medals left, right? That means that a majority of the medals out there are actually copies of the originals. And the originals themselves are probably too damaged to be used in battles."

Alphys was quiet for several seconds, before she spoke again. "That makes sense," She replied. "A lot of sense."

"And, if you really think about it, isn't what they're doing kind of honoring your culture?" He suggested. "I mean, you just told me that your culture was all about fighting." 'Oh, please tell me all that calmed them down. If not, then humanity might be screwed!'

The fox opened her mouth to retort, but paused, when she couldn't think of one immediately.

"I…guess you have a point," Carla replied, sheathing her claws, while the fox and Alphys stopped looking sick.

'Oh thank god!' He thought with a silent sigh of relief. 'It actually worked.' "Okay then. So, you want to stay with me?" he asked them again. "I have the space."

Alphys sat there in thought for a couple of minutes, before she spoke. "I think we should," She said to the other girls. "We are going out there blind, and we need a guide."

"I agree," The fox replied with a nod. "And since he is offering, it would be rude to refuse."

Carla sighed upon hearing that. "Well, I'm outvoted," She said. "You guys win."

"Great! Then follow me," He replied as he gestured for them to follow him.

"Let me just shut down the lab for now," Alphys said as she slithered over to the keyboard and began to type on it rapidly.

After several seconds went by, she finished typing, and pushed the keyboard back into its slot. "Alright, let's go," She said to Gavin prompting him to start walking.

He led the three robots through the doors right as the lights turned off in the room, and the doors shut tightly behind them as they walked down the hallway.

Eventually, they reached the stairs, and slowly went up them to the cave, while the hallway turned dark as the power shut down. Alphys then shut the door and turned the hook on it, locking the door, before he led them out of the cave and into the forest.

As he led them through the forest, he thought, 'I did not expect my day to become this crazy.'

Well, this was an interesting chapter!

Can't wait to write more!

I have to say, designing Amber and Alphys was fun! As for Carla, I wonder if you'll figure out who she looks like?

I am working hard on my other stories, both old and new. I'll give you one hint for a new story I'm working on. Hint: popular Finland Childhood character.
