Chapter 17
Rory POV
Graduation was in a month, and Logan still hadn't told me what his plans for London were. Grandpa Straub had told me to apply to whatever law school I wanted. I'd applied to several schools in the U.S. but I'd also applied to Oxford, just in case Logan wanted me to go with him. This weekend Logan and I were taking a trip to London so that he could sign the papers on the townhouse that he was going to be renting.
I had just finished zipping up my suitcase when Logan walked through the front door. "Hey." I said.
"Hey. You packed?" He asked me.
I nodded. "Yeah, just finished. What time do we leave?" I asked.
Logan looked at his watch. "We got about an hour till we have to leave for the airport." He said.
I nodded. "Good. That means I have time for coffee." I said walking to the kitchen.
Logan followed me and sat at the breakfast bar while I fixed coffee. "So, have you heard back from your Law school applications?" He asked me.
I nodded. "Yeah I have actually. I got into Yale, Harvard and Oxford." I told him, pulling a travel mug out of the cabinet.
"That's awesome. I'm so proud of you." He said.
"Thanks. I just haven't made my final decision yet." I told him.
"Well, I was hoping that I could help with that." He said.
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah, see I was hoping that you'd want to move to London with me?" He asked me.
I leaned against the counter. "You did, did you?" I threw back at him.
He nodded. "Yep. That's why I wanted you to go with me this weekend. Want to make sure that you like the townhouse." He said.
I walked around the breakfast bar and stood next to him. He turned to face me. I wrapped my arms around his neck. "Your amazing, you know that?" I asked him.
"I do try. Now, go fix your coffee so we can go." He said, kissing my forehead.

Logan POV
I was hoping that everything was going to work out just like I planned it. I had spoken with the realtor before we left and she'd agreed to me us at the townhouse when we landed. Colin and Finn had flown over the day before and she'd let them in to set up my surprise for Rory. I was nervous to say the least. I had no idea how this was going to play out. All I knew was that I was going to lay all my cards on the table and see what happens. I thought about my conversation with the elders a few weeks ago.
***Flashback***
Hartford Country Club
I had invited the elder men to join me for breakfast at the country club so that I could talk to them about mine and Rory's future. Dad was sending me to London to take over the European market and I wanted Rory to go with me…as my fiance. I wasn't sure how they were going to react, but I figured that they knew that this conversation was coming since Rory and I had been together for four years.
I was nervous as I sat at the table and waited for them to show up. For some reason they all showed up at the same time. "Logan." My dad said as he sat down.
"Dad, Chris, Straub, Richard." I greeted them all.
"You look nervous son." Straub said to me.
I had known the man my entire life, and instead of my father, he was the one that I had looked up to. "Thanks for coming. As you all know, after graduation I'm moving to London. I want to ask Rory to come with me…as my fiance." I said.
I looked around the table for the different reactions. My father, shocked. Chris, happy. Richard and Straub however, unreadable. "You've thought about this?" Straub asked me.
"Yes sir. Ever since dinner, honestly since I found out about London. I don't want to be apart from her. I love her, I have for a long time." I told him.
"You know that she'll be going to Law school?" He asked me.
I nodded. "Yes sir. I won't keep her from that. I know that she's applied to multiple schools, Oxford included. I just know that I can't be away from her…I want to love her and make her happy. But I won't stand in the way of her dreams." I told the men that sat before me.
"You have my support." Straub said.
"Thank you sir." I said. I already knew that I would have Chris' support. He'd known that I was in love with Rory before I did. That was why he always encouraged me to be there for her, no matter what.
Richard nodded, agreeing with Straub. I looked to my father. "Your mother won't like this." Dad said.
"I don't care. It isn't her decision. She can either support it or she doesn't have to be a part of my life." I told him. "The question is… do you support it?" I asked.
Dad thought for a minute. "She's a wonderful girl. I've always thought so." Dad said.
"Thank you…all of you." I said.
***End of Flashback***
When the car pulled up to the townhouse, I climbed out and held my hand out to help Rory out of the car. "It's beautiful." She said.
"Wait till you see the inside." I said, leading her up the sidewalk. I walked up the front steps and opened the door. "After you." I said.
Rory walked inside and I followed her. I watched her take in the sight in front of her. She stepped into the living room and saw it. I'd had the boys place roses and rose petals everywhere in the living room. She turned around and faced me. I reached in my pocket and grabbed the ring box that I'd stuck in there before we'd left the apartment. "What is all this?" She asked me.
"I love you Rory. I have for a long time. In fact, I think your Dad knew that I loved you before I did. When my Dad first mentioned to me that he was sending me to London after graduation, I saw several different things happening. But the one thing that I knew wouldn't happen was that we'd break up. That's something that I don't want to happen. I love you too much to let you go." I said taking a step closer to her. "When I started looking into housing in London, I knew that I had to find something that you were going to love. I knew that it had to have a library. The master bedroom even has a reading nook. I have no idea how long my father plans to keep me here, but I do know that however how long it is, we'll make it work."
I could see that Rory was crying by this point. I closed the remaining distance between us. I grabbed one of her hands, and with my free hand I pulled the ring box out. I kissed her hand. "Rory, I love you with all my heart and soul. You are my soulmate. I want to spend the rest of my life waking up next to you, going to sleep next to you. I want to have a family with you and I want to grow old with you. Rory Gilmore-Hayden, will you marry me?" I said.
Rory POV
I could feel the tears running down my face. I stood there and listened to Logan's speech…his proposal. Part of had hoped that by the time we graduated that he'd propose to me. I had already decided where I was going to go to Law school but I hadn't wanted to tell him yet because I wanted to see what direction we were heading in first. "Ror, can you say something, please? Your kind of scaring me." Logan said, making me realize that I hadn't answered him yet.
"I'm going to Oxford." I blurted out.
"You are?" He asked me. I don't think that he truly realized what I was saying. "When did you decide?" He asked me.
"The moment the acceptance letters came in. I was hoping that on some level that you'd want me to come with you to London. I even talked to Grandpa about it. He told me that there was no rush for me to take over the firm, just that he wanted me to have my law degree and pass the bar for all fifty states." I told Logan.
He smiled at me. "You still haven't answered my question." He said.
"Did you really think that I would say no?" I asked.
He leaned down and kissed me. "No, but can you say it…please." He said.
I looked up at him and smirked. "Yes, I'll marry you." I said.
