Chapter 21

Once the trial was over, things started to settle down. Alex's Dad had finally made the drive down and met Hap. He'd been a little confused at first but after seeing how happy his daughter was he knew that he couldn't stand in the way. He'd even bought them a house in Charming. The biggest surprise for him though was when his wife walked through the door. Clay had sent Chibs to Belfast to bring her home. Alex and her dad were beyond ecstatic to have her back. Even though all of that was reason enough to celebrate, the biggest celebration came from me and Jax. We'd told everyone that we were engaged. That had been a great day and a complete surprise.

***Flashback***

It's been three months since we got word from Uncle Lenny that Putlova had been killed in prison. It had come as a relief to know that he could no longer hurt us. Since we no longer had to be on Lockdown, Jax and I had decided to take a ride out to our spot at the streams. I hadn't been here since the day after I came home and I had told Jax that I loved him. It felt good to have things getting back to normal. When I climbed off Jax's bike, he didn't let me get to far before he grabbed my hand and pulled me back to him. "Have I told you lately how much I love you?" He said.

I nodded my head. "Only everyday." I said.

He rubbed his finger across my collarbone where my Crow tattoo was. "I have a present for you." He said.

"For me? What did I do to deserve a present?" I asked.

"For just being you and because I love you." He said. He reached in his Kutte and pulled out a small box. He handed it to me. "Open it." He said.

I opened the box and saw a beautiful ring sitting there. "Jax, it's beautiful." I said.

"Kris, I have loved you since before I even knew that I loved you. You've always been the one person that I knew that I could count on. You never ask for anything in return, except for my love. You make me a better person. You make me want to be a better person. I can't imagine not spending my life with you. Will you marry me?" He said.

I nodded my head, not being able to find the words that I wanted to say. Jax took the box from my hand. He pulled the ring out of the box and slid it onto my finger. I wrapped my arms around his neck and leaned in and kissed him. He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me close.

***End Flashback***

It had been a great day. Gemma had quickly gotten a SAMCRO approved wedding planned. Everything was planned out. I'd found a dress that I knew that I'd be comfortable in. Alex and Donna had their dresses. The boys were all wearing jeans and button down shirts with their Kuttes. Gemma had organized the food.

After Jax and I had gotten married we took off for a weekend in San Francisco. It was perfect.

Jax and I were laying in bed the morning that we had to come home. "You okay?" I asked him.

"Clay thinks that it's time that he stepped down." Jax said.

"Wait…wouldn't that mean?" I asked him, knowing that if Clay stepped down, that Jax would become the new president.

"Yeah." He said, barely running his fingertips up and down my arm.

"Are you ready for that?" I asked, him feeling nervous about his answer.

"With you by my side, I can handle anything." He said. "We should probably get up and get ready to head home."

Jax and I got up and took a shower and got dressed. When I walked out of the bathroom Jax was sitting on the edge of the bed tying his shoes. He looked up at me. "I need to tell you something." I said. He reached his hand out for me. I walked over to him and took his hand. He pulled me into his lap. "I'm pregnant."

I looked down at his face. He had this huge grin on his face. "Yeah?" He said.

I nodded. "Yeah." I said.

He leaned up and kissed me. "When you find out?" He asked me.

"Morning of the wedding." I told him. It had only been two days ago when I'd woken up and felt nauseous. I'd taken a pregnancy test, knowing that Jax and I hadn't been all that careful when we'd had sex. "I have an appointment set up for tomorrow afternoon, think you can come?" I asked him.

He put his hand on the side of my face. "I wouldn't miss it for the world." He told me.

"Good. Let's go home." I said, kissing him.

When Jax and I got back to Charming, we headed straight for the clubhouse. He needed to check in with Clay and let him know that he was ready to step up. While Jax was talking to the boys, I walked over to the office to talk to Gem. "Hey Ma." I said walking in the door and sitting on the couch.

"Hey baby. How was the trip?" She asked.

"It was great. Exactly what we needed." I said. "So, listen, I got a job for you." I told her.

"I'm intrigued." She said.

"Need you to plan a party for tomorrow night." I said.

"Reason?" She asked.

"Not telling." I said.

"Who am I inviting?"

"Just the boys, Old ladies and kids. No croweaters, sweet butts or porn stars." I told her.

"Okay. I'll take care of it." She said. "Everything okay?"

"Yep. Everything is perfect."

The next afternoon after Jax and I left our doctor's appointment, I could see the excitement on his face. "So, I might have done something." I told him as we pulled into the lot at TM.

"Okay…" He said.

We climbed out of the car and made our way inside. When we walked inside, everyone was standing around. I looked at Jax. "Just don't be mad." I said. He leaned down and kissed me.

"Okay what's going on?" Gem asked us.

"So, there's gonna be a new member of SAMCRO." I said, holding up the ultrasound picture. "We're pregnant." I said. Everyone cheered and congratulated us.

A little while later, Gemma came over and brought me a coke to the table I was sitting at. Jax was talking to Clay. "So, I hear the baby isn't the only thing changing around here." Gem said, joining me at the table.

I nodded. "Nope. But we all knew that it would happen someday." I said.

"How you dealing with it?" She asked me.

"I'm fine with it. It's something that he's always known would happen. Like I told him, he's in the house of the rising son." I told Gem, she couldn't help the smile that appeared on her face.
