Dorm; 4/7/2009
Early Morning
Once the morning came, Makoto was wearing his school uniform which consists of a white colored shirt underneath a black blazer with zippers and the logo of the school with black slacks, accented with a loose black bow tie, a neck-strap mp3 player and clip-on earphones.
Makoto was brushing his teeth when he heard a knock on the door "Hey! Are you awake yet?" Yukari asks from the other side of the door.
"Yeah! Give me a moment!" Makoto said as he quickly finished up with his teeth and opened the door.
Yukari and her brother walk into Makoto's room with another girl "Good morning. Did you sleep okay?" Yukari asks.
"Yeah. Who's she?" Makoto then looks at the other girl.
The girl had dark violet hair in a high ponytail held by a seafoam green ribbon. She was wearing a white buttoned up collar shirt with a black vest over it with a red bowtie tied around the neck area of the hoodie and wore a black skirt with a white socks and brown shoes.
"I'm Kaede Matou! Nice to meet you, senpai!" Makoto raised an eyebrow.
"Kaede will be starting as a first year, just like me. She's also the student who I mentioned last night." Riku explained as Kaede stretched out her hand.
"Yep! I hope we get along." Kaede said excitedly as Makoto shakes her hand.
"Likewise." Makoto simply said.
"Anyway, Mitsuru-senpai asked me to take you three to school. It's getting late so… are you ready to go?" Yukari asks.
"Yeah. I'm ready." Makoto said as he grabbed his school bag.
"Okay. Then, let's go." Yukari said as she and the others walked down the stairs and left the dorm.
On the train, Yukari was explaining how the school works and what it looks like "...So that's it." as she says that, the group saw the school from the train "See? There it is." Yukari said as Makoto looked at the huge campus that he, Kaede, and Riku would attend.
The group began to walk from the station and it was a short walk to the gate of the school "Well… this is it. We're here. Welcome to Gekkoukan High School. Hope you like it!" Yukari said as she and the group entered the school.
Yukari and the others then turn to Makoto "You're okay from here, right? You should go see your homeroom teacher first." Yukari then points to the pathway to the left "The faculty office is right there to the left."
"Well, we're just gonna go and check out the classroom assignments." Kaede said as she and Riku made their way to the assignment boards.
"Well, it still concludes the tour. Any questions before i go?" Yukari asks Makoto.
"Not really." Makoto said as Yukari looked at him with a concerned look.
"Hey. About last night… Don't tell anyone what you saw, okay?" Yukari asks.
"I won't. Trust me." Makoto said.
"I do. See you later." Yukari said as she walked to her new classroom for the year.
Makoto looks around and sees a lot of students standing in front of the bulletin board but he decides to look for his class and sees that he was in class F and leaves to the faculty office.
Once at the faculty office, Makoto saw a woman in a salmon-colored suit looking around for some papers until she noticed Makoto standing there for her "Oh, are you the new student?" She asks.
"Yep." Makoto simply said.
"Makoto Yuki… 11th grade, correct?" She begins to flip through his bio "Wow, you've lived in a lot of places… Let's see… in 1999… That was, what, Ten years ago? Your parents-" The woman then gasps at a revelation that Makoto had already knew "I'm sorry… I've been so busy, I didn't have time to read this beforehand. I'm Ms. Toriumi. I teach composition. Welcome to our school."
Makoto decided to put up a small smile, so as not to worry her "Nice to meet you." Makoto said.
"Wow, how polite. Have you seen the classroom assignments?" Ms. Toriumi asks.
"Yeah. I'm in class F." Makoto said.
"Yes. That's my class. But first, we need to go to
the auditorium. The Welcoming Ceremony will be starting soon. Follow me." Ms. Toriumi said as she walked out of the faculty office, with Makoto following after.
In the auditorium, the Principal began to give his speech to the students "As you begin the new school year, I'd like each of you to remember the proverb "If a job's worth doing, it's worth doing well." when applied to student life, this means…"
As the principal continued with his speech, a student pats on Makoto's shoulder "Psst… hey…" Makoto turns to the student "You came with Yukari this morning, right? I saw you two walking together. Hey, can I ask you something?"
"A little late for that." Makoto said a bit bitterly.
"Do you know if Yukari has a boyfriend?" The student asks, oblivious to Makoto's tone of voice.
"I don't know…" Makoto said.
"I see. I thought you might know, but… I guess not. So how well do you know her?"
"I hear talking. I believe it's someone in Ms. Toriumi's class…" Another teacher said as the student talking to Makoto sat down back at his seat.
"Shh! Be quiet! You're going to get me in trouble!" Ms. Toriumi said as Makoto heard some students beginning to talk.
Gekkoukan High; After school
Once classes were over for the day, Makoto grabbed his school bag and was about to walk out of the classroom when someone walked up to him "'Sup, dude!? How's it going?"
"I'm good but… who are you?" Makoto asks.
"Me? I'm Junpei Iori. Nice to meet ya. I transferred here when I was in 8th grade. I know how tough it is bein' the new kid… So i wanted to say "Hey." ...see what a nice guy i am!" Junpei begins to talk a bit more until he notices Yukari walking towards them.
"Hey, it's Yuka-tan!" Junpei said as he smiled "I didn't think we'd be in the same class again."
Yukari just sighs "At it again, huh? I swear, you'll talk to anyone if they'll listen. Did you ever think you might be bothering someone?" Yukari asks as Junpei looks a little shocked.
"What? But, I was just bein' friendly." Junpei said.
"If you say so." Yukari then turns to Makoto "Anyway, looks like we're in the same homeroom…"
"Yeah, I know." Makoto said.
"Funny. Huh?" Yukari replied.
"Um, hello? Are you forgetting I'm in this class too?" Junpei shrugs it off and changes the topic "By the way, I heard you two came to school together this morning. What's up with that? C'mon, give me the dirt!" Yukari then turns to Junpei.
"Wh-What are you talking about!? We live in the same dorm. There's nothing going on, okay?" Yukari started to ponder this "Why are people even talking about it!? Now you have me worried…"
She then turns her direction to Makoto "Hey… you didn't say anything about… you know what, did you?"
"Nope." Makoto simply said.
"Okay, good. Seriously… don't say anything about last night, alright?" Junpei was shocked to hear something like that coming from Yukari's mouth as he stared at her in shock "Wh-What?"
"L-Last night…?"
"W-Wait a minute! Don't get the wrong idea! Listen! I just met him yesterday and there's absolutely nothing between us!" Yukari then sighs "Geez… I've gotta go. I've got to take care of something for the archery team. But, you better not start any rumors!" After saying that, Yukari walks off.
"Ah, who cares? No one takes rumors seriously, anyways. She's so paranoid…" Junpei then turns to Makoto "But, hey! It's your first day here and people are already talkin' about you! Believe it or not, she's actually pretty popular. You da man!" Junpei then smiles "Heheh, this is gonna be a fun year. I can feel it!" Junpei said with excitement.
Makoto was walking back to the station with Junpei. As they walked and talked, Makoto noticed a few people but he didn't recognize them so he continued walking to the station.
Dorms; Evening
"Welcome back." Mitsuru greeted as Makoto looks at her with a tired expression.
"I'm gonna turn in early tonight." Makoto said as he walked up the stairs to his room.
As soon as Makoto leaves for his room, Mitsuru continues reading when another student walks up to her.
The young man has short silver hair, gray eyes and wears a white band-aid above his left eye. He wears a slightly modified school uniform of the Gekkoukan High School, where he replaces the standard jacket with a red sweater vest and black gloves.
"I'm going out for a bit." The confident student said.
"...Hm?" Mitsuru then looks up to him
"Didn't you see the newspaper? There's a lot going on." The confident student said as Mitsuru closed her book.
"...I know. People who had no problems before are suddenly developing acute cases of Apathy Syndrome… I've seen it on the news quite often." Mitsuru then looks down to the floor "They say it's due to stress, but…"
"Yeah, right. It has to be one of them. Otherwise, it's not worth my time…" The student said.
"You have a one track mind… Will you be fine on your own? The chairman will be here for the next few days, but after that, i can..."
"Don't worry. I'm just getting a little practice." The student then leaves, with Mitsuru opening her book and continuing to read as she sighs.
"This isn't a game, Akihiko…"
Gekkoukan; 4/8/2009
Afternoon
Makoto was in class, taking notes with the rest of the class as Ms. Toriumi began to say "Open your textbooks and we'll take a look at the first novel by… Zenzou Kasai. Ugh… why him?" She asks herself "I'd rather teach Utsubo Kubota." And then she went on about her favorite author to the class.
"He became famous as a singer, but also produced fine literature. I wonder why it's not in the textbook. Well, i'll just bring Kubota's book next time." Ms. Toriumi said as she spotted Junpei dozing off.
"...Hey, Junpei! Were you listening? Who did I say is my favorite author?" Junpei knew he would be in trouble and so he turned to Makoto.
"Psst! Who does she like?" Junpei whispered.
"Utsubo Kubota." Makoto whispered back.
Junpei gave the answer to Ms. Toriumi, who looked impressed "That's right! So you were listening to me after all!" She praised Junpei.
"Eheheh… Well, you know how I like to pay attention!" Junpei then turns to Makoto when Ms. Toriumi wasn't looking "Man, you saved my bacon, Makoto!" Makoto then hears his classmates whispering.
"Makoto gave him the answer… he must pay attention in class." A student said, making Makoto roll his eyes a bit.
Dorms; Evening
When Makoto returns to the dorms, he sees Yukari talking to an unfamiliar man. He had dark brown eyes, long wavy brown hair and a goatee. He wears a tan jacket over his brown turtleneck.
"Oh, he's back." Yukari pointed out.
"So, this is our new guest…" The man said as he and Yukari got up from the sofa and approached Makoto "Good evening. My name is Shuji Ikutsuki. I'm the Chairman of the Board of your school." Ikutsuki introduced himself "'Ikutsuki'... hard to say, isn't it? That's why I don't like introducing myself. Even i get tongue-tied sometimes… Please have a seat." Makoto then walked over to the sofa and sat down next to Yukari.
"I apologize about the confusion regarding your accommodations. However, it may take a while longer before you receive the proper room assignment." Ikustuki explained.
"That's fine." Makoto simply said.
"Well, is there anything you'd like to ask?" Ikutsuki asks.
"Why are you here?" Makoto asks.
"To welcome you, of course! Well, to be honest, I do have other business here. Speaking of which…" Ikutsuki then turns to Yukari "Where's Mitsuru, Yukari?" Ikutsuki asks.
"She's upstairs." Yukari replied.
"As diligent as always. Although, it doesn't hurt to come down and say hello…" Ikutsuki shakes his head and turns back to Makoto "Is there anything else?"
"Who else lives here?" Makoto asks.
"There are only six students in this dorm: you, Yukari here, Mitsuru, Riku, Kaede, and a senior named Akihiko Sanada. I hope you all get along. Any other questions?" Ikutsuki asks.
"The other night, I saw some strange things. Can you tell me about them?" Makoto asks as Yukari glances at him nervously.
"You saw something strange? ...Like what?" Yukari sighs quietly "You were probably just tired. I wouldn't worry about it." Ikutsuki said.
"If you say so." Makoto said, but knew something wasn't right.
"Do you have another question?" Ikutsuki asks.
"I'm good on the answers I have right now." Makoto said as Ikutsuki smiled a bit.
"Then, I hope you have a successful school year. Now, if you'll excuse me…" Ikutsuki gets up from the recliner and stands next to Makoto "You must be tired from all the excitement. You should go to bed early. As they say, "The early bird catches the bookworm!" ...please forgive the pun." Ikutsuki said as he walks away and up the stairs.
"Um…" Makoto then turns to Yukari.
"Don't worry… You'll get used to his lame jokes." Yukari said as Makoto then got up the sofa and headed upstairs to his room.
Dorms; Late Night
On a monitor, Makoto was in his room sleeping peacefully while being watched by Mitsuru, Yukari, and Kaede as Ikutsuki walked towards them "Working hard?" Kaede and the girls turn to him and nod "So, how's he doing?" Ikutsuki asks.
"He went to bed a little while ago. He's asleep now." Mitsuru said as Ikutsuki took a seat on a red cushion.
"Mr. Chairman, do you think he's…?" Kaede begins to ask.
"Well, let's wait and see for now… the Dark Hour is approaching." Ikutsuki said as he and the three girls looked at the clock, which was close to midnight.
Elsewhere in Iwatodai, some thugs and bikers were listening to loud music while they chatted with some woman, who threw their cans of beer next to a male Gekkoukan high student, who closed his phone in irritation "Damn those harrolets…" The male student muttered as his phone's clock moved forward to midnight.
The student yawned but when he opened his eyes, he saw that the moon and the sky was a sickly shade of green and he was surrounded by black coffins "What the hell?!" The student begins to hyperventilate as he drops his phone and his face drips a black substance "Ahhhhhhh!" The student screams as he collapses to the ground, turning into a puddle of black goop.
Dorms; Dark Hour
On the screens, Makoto is still monitored by the machine in his sleep with the others looking at him curiously "Mmm… He's still sleeping." The girls then turn to Ikutsuki again "The Dark Hour occurs everyday at twelve midnight; you could say it's the "hidden" hour." Kaede then looks to the side.
"Yeah… And during this time, a normal person is transmogrified into a coffin, oblivious to what's happening around them." Kaede explained as Mitsuru places a hand on her shoulder.
"But… that must mean he's a…" Yukari then looks back to Makoto's image on the screen.
"As you can see, he's retained his human form. He's asleep, but he's definitely experiencing the Dark Hour. The only question that remains is whether or not he has the potential." Ikutsuki said "Although, he must. If he didn't, they would've preyed on him by now."
"Scary…" Yukari said as the four turned back to the monitor.
"In any case, we should continue to monitor him for a few more days." Ikutsuki advised.
"Yes, sir." Mitsuru simply said.
"I feel kinda bad, though, spying on him like this…" Yukari said as she looks down.
When Makoto wakes up, he finds himself in a giant velvet blue elevator with a clock with rapidly moving hands and four doors on each side but only two of these doors were uncovered. But what Makoto found even more peculiar are the two people in front of him.
"Welcome to the Velvet Room, my dear young man." The strange man greeted, much to Makoto's confusion.
The man sitting on a velvet blue couch in front of a circular table with velvet blue table cloth has the appearance of a bizarre old man with a long nose, pointed ears and bulging, bloodshot eyes. He wears a black suit with white gloves.
While the woman beside him has short white hair and yellow eyes. She wears a blue dress that resembles a stewardess' outfit with five black-lined circles outside small yellow circles, blue gloves, a blue attendant-like hat, black leggings and blue, knee-length boots.
"My name is Igor. I am delighted to make your acquaintance." Igor then turn to the woman in blue "This is Elizabeth. She's a resident here, like myself." Igor said, introducing her.
"Pleased to meet you." Elizabeth greeted, bowing to Makoto.
"This place exists between dream and reality, mind and matter… It's been years since we've had a guest." Igor said as a red folder appears and it opens, revealing to be the documents Makoto signed at the lobby of the dorms.
"Only those who have signed the contract can enter this place… Henceforth, you shall be welcome here in the Velvet Room. You are destined to hone your unique ability, and will require my help to do so. I only ask for one thing in return…" Makoto looked at Igor in confusion.
"And what's that?" Makoto asks.
"...That you abide by the contract, and assume responsibility for the choices you make." Igor said but Makoto was still confused about what was happening around him.
"I'm sorry, but i'm still a little confused." Makoto told Igor.
"...That is fine, for now. Hold on to this…" A small blue key appears before Makoto and fades away in blue sparkles, a faint glow now shining in Makoto's pocket as Makoto's vision begins to blur "'Till we meet again…" Igor said as Makoto's vision fades to black.
Dorm; 4/7/2009
Early Morning
Makoto was getting ready for school but while doing so, he felt strange "That dream last night… It felt almost too real." Makoto then glances at the clock and sighs "No use of thinking about it now. Better hurry up or I'm gonna be late." Makoto said to himself as he finishes putting on his uniform and walks out of his room.
While walking to the school gate, Junpei notices Makoto walking by himself "Hey! Makoto!" Junpei calls out as Makoto turns to him and walks towards him "What's up!? Man, today is the perfect day! The sky is blue… We're young… What more could we ask for!?"
"I think more sleep for you would be nice." Makoto simply said.
"Dude, i'm not sick! Forget the ol' Junpei…! This is the real me! You should cheer up, too! After all, you've got me for a friend." Junpei said cheerfully as he and Makoto entered the school together.
Gekkoukan High; Morning
The class begins with the teacher standing in front of the podium "Ahem… I'm Mr. Ekoda. I'll be teaching you Classic Literature. I'll be teaching you about good old Japan all year. Some people say Classic Lit isn't relevant to everyday life, but oh, how they're wrong!" Makoto and the other students had to listen about how wrong people are about Classic Literature.
"The students, the other teachers… Wrong, wrong, wrong! Nobody really understands Classic Lit…" Makoto eyes felt tired but used every ounce of his body to stay awake and listen to his teacher's… lecture, if you can even call it that.
"Hey… Are you all listening to me? Wake up, Children! Now open your textbooks. First on our syllabus is "Ise Monogatari," the origan of Japanese literature. It's a very interesting story. You youngsters might call it, "da bomb"." Makoto and the other students just cringed when Mr. Ekoda said that.
"Maybe falling asleep wouldn't have been the worst idea…" Makoto muttered to himself but he gained a bit of knowledge from this… interesting lecture.
After School…
Makoto was once again walking back to the dorms with Junpei and noticed that the station was bustling with students on their way home… but he didn't mind it all.
Dorms; Dark Hour
Makoto was peacefully sleeping in his bed as he was once again being monitored by both Yukari and Mitsuru when Ikutsuki entered the room "...How is he?" Ikutsuki asks.
"...The same as last night." Mitsuru simply said as Kaede walks into the room with cup of coffee.
"Hmm… Very interesting. Even those who have the potential tend to be unstable at first… Memory loss… disorientation… But this subject is rather unique. He hasn't exhibited any of the common symptoms." Ikutsuki said as Kaede looks at the monitors.
"But… isn't this an invasion of his privacy?" Kaede asks.
"Yeah… we're treating him like a guinea pig at this rate." Yukari said, sharing her concerns as well.
"I understand both of your concerns, but it's imperative that we recruit new members." Ikutsuki then turns to Yukari "I heard he's your classmate, Yukari… wouldn't you feel more comfortable working with someone from the same grade?" Ikutsuki asks.
"Yeah, I guess. But, still…" Before Yukari can say anymore, a beeping sound was coming from the intercom and Mitsuru presses the button to answer.
"Command Room. Is that you, Akihiko?" Mitsuru asks as she heard Akihiko panting.
"You're not gonna believe this…! This thing is huge!" Akihiko said.
"Unfortunately, Me and Senpai don't have time to talk… It's chasing us…!" Riku said.
"Me and Riku wanted to let you guys know. We're almost there." This caught everyone off guard and placed them in shock.
"Does that mean… they're bringing that thing here!?" Yukari exclaimed as Mitsuru get's out of her seat.
"Mr. chairman! Let's suspend our observation for now. We'll prepare for battle!" Mitsuru said, making Ikutsuki get out of his state of shock.
"...R-Right! Be careful!" Ikutsuki said as the four of them rushed down to the lobby of the dorms.
At the Lobby, Riku quickly slams the door as he and Akihiko slide down the door in pain "Akihiko! Riku!" Mitsuru calls out the two as Yukari kneels down to the two and sees that the two had been injured.
"Senpai!? Riku!? Are you two okay?" Yukari asks.
"We're alright, sister." Riku said as Akihiko laughed a bit.
"Get ready to be surprised… it'll be here any second." Akihiko said to the others with a cocky smile as Mitsuru walked up to him.
"This is no time to joke around!" Mitsuru yells.
"It's one of them, Akihiko?" Ikutsuki asks.
"Yes, but not an ordinary one-" The senior was then caught off by the sound of a monstrous scream and the building beginning to shake.
"Ahh!" Kaede shrieked.
"What the…!? ...You've gotta be kidding me!" Yukari shouted as Mitsuru pulled out the same silver gun that Yukari had from the white gun holster.
"Mr. Chairman, please head for the command room!" Mitsuru then turns to Yukari "Yukari, go upstairs and wake him up! Then, escape out the back." Mitsuru said.
"But what about you four?" Yukari asks as Mitsuru turns to Riku.
"Riku, go with the chairman. Defend him if any of them were to get in the command room." Mitsuru ordered.
"Understood!" Riku said as he left for the command room with Ikutsuki.
"Kaede." Kaede turns to Mitsuru "Will you help us stop it here?" Mitsuru asks.
"I will! You can count on me, big sis!" Kaede said as she pulled out the silver gun.
"You led it to us, Akihiko, so I'm afraid you'll have to fight." Mitsuru said as Akihiko shoots a glare at her.
"Like I had a choice!" Akihiko then turns to Yukari, who was still standing next to the three "What are you waiting for, Yukari? Go!"
"I-I'm going!" Yukari said as she quickly runs up the stairs to wake up Makoto.
Makoto was woken up by a loud noise and quickly puts on his uniform when he heard banging on his door "Wake up! Sorry, i'm coming in!" Yukari then opens the door to Makoto's room, panting.
"What the hell is going on!?" Makoto asks.
"I don't have time to explain. We have to get out of here, now!" Yukari said.
"Got it!" The building then shakes again, alarming the two.
"Hurry! Downstairs! We'll leave through the back door!" Makoto was about to run out of his room when Yukari stopped him by the shoulder.
"Wait! Take this, just in case." Yukari then hands Makoto a short sword "...Okay, let's go!" Yukari said as the two made their way downstairs.
Once downstairs, the two made their way to the back door "Alright, we should be safe now-!" Yukari's communicator then rings, cutting her off.
"Takeba, do you read me!?" Mitsuru called.
"Y-Yes! I hear you!" Yukari replied.
"Be careful! There's more than one enemy! The one we're fighting isn't the one Akihiko saw!" Mitsuru explained.
"What?!" Yukari exclaimed when she and Makoto heard the door banging, making Yukari gasp.
"What now!?" Makoto asks.
"L-Let's pull back!" Yukari and Makoto were running and found themselves between the front door and the staircase "What are we going to do…? They're downstairs! Do we have any choice but to go further up?" Yukari asked herself as she and Makoto run up the stairs.
Once on the second floor, Makoto and Yukari felt the building shake again "W-Whoa, whoa! What are we going to do!?" Yukari asks.
"Looks like we're gonna have to keep going up!" Makoto said as he and Yukari run up to the third floor.
Makoto and Yukari run up to the third and fourth floor when they heard a window shattering "What was that!?" Yukari asks as Makoto turns to her.
"Let's not stick around to find out!" Makoto said as he and Yukari felt another tremor shaking the building.
"R-Right! Let's keep moving! Hurry!" Yukari yells as she and Makoto continue to run up the stairs.
Once they reached the top, Yukari sees the door that leads to the roof "O-Oh yeah! If we go out through here-!" Yukari and Makoto run through the door, hoping to find a chance to escape.
Once outside, Yukari quickly locks the door to the roof and sighs "I think we're okay for now…" Makoto and Yukari still felt like something was climbing up the building.
"What…!?" When Yukari turned around, she and Makoto saw a giant monster with a blue mask and a lot of hands that were carrying swords "Those monsters… We call them shadows!" Yukari then takes out the silver gun and points it at her head but struggles to pull the trigger as the monster runs up to her and knocks her away, making her drop the gun next to Makoto's feet.
Makoto looks at the monster calmly before it turns its attention to Yukari "Takeba!" As he shouts Yukari's name, Makoto gets a vision of the boy he met the other day.
"Go on…" The boy said as Makoto looked at the gun that was at his feet.
On the monitors, Mitsuru and the others saw Yukari and Makoto being attacked by the Shadow "There!" Akihiko shouted as he and the others were about to leave the command room.
"Wait!" Ikutsuki said as the others saw Makoto pick up the gun.
Makoto stares at the gun and points it to the side of his head but feels his hand beginning to shake and his breath being shaky as well but takes a second to calm himself "Per… So… Na…!" Makoto then pulls the trigger and a being was created behind him.
The figure's body was completely mechanical with the exception of the head. The head was all black except for glowing red eyes and silver hair and had a silky red scarf around its neck. The arms and legs were white and silver while the torso metallic sky blue. The figure was also carrying a giant lyre on its back.
"Thou art i… and i am thou… from the sea of thy soul, i cometh… I am Orpheus, Master of Strings…!" Orpheus announced his presence but then Makoto felt a pain in his head, almost as if something was about to burst out.
"At last…" Orpheus was then recoiling with pain as well, with something literally trying to burst out of him… and soon, a new being burst out of Orpheus "Thou Art i… and i am thou! I am Thanatos! Bringer of Death! Thanatos roared. Thanatos wears something that is black and jacket-like. It had coffins chained to him and its face was almost inhuman by looking metallic yet it's clearly not metal. Thanatos also wields a long Katana instead of a lyre.
Thanatos flies through the sky and pounces on the giant Shadow, attacking it mercilessly and then uses its Katana to slice the blue mask face in half. Thanatos then grabs its hand, which was still squirming in its hands, and then crushed it. Yukari looked at Thanatos in horror before the monster roared and returned to being Orpheus.
Back at the command room, The four students and the chairman looked on at the display in confusion and terror "What the hell…?!" Kaede muttered under her breath.
"What in god's name was that!?" Riku asks, clearly still in shock after seeing such a site of terror.
On the rooftop, Yukari and Makoto saw that Orpheus had returned to its original form "Is it over…?" When Yukari said that, the Shadows appeared and were crawling towards her and Makoto.
"You had to say something…" Makoto remarks as he runs towards the monsters and pulls out his short sword that Yukari had given him earlier but then uses the gun to summon Orpheus, who uses his lyre to smash the two shadows into the ground, disintegrating them.
Makoto then felt a surge of exhaustion overtake him as he then collapsed onto the floor, with Yukari running to his side "Are you okay!?" Makoto doesn't respond, prompting Yukari to shake him "Come on...! Say something!" Yukari shouted as Riku and the others run up to the two.
"Are you alright!?" Akihiko asks but Yukari was more concerned about Makoto.
"Can you hear me!? Please…! Answer me!" Yukari shouted again as she saw that Makoto had already lost consciousness.
