"Yes." Kris responded for what must have been the hundredth time. It doesn't sound genuine: it doesn't sound real. None of it is.
Spamtom has been questioning them the same question for quite awhile after beating the Queen of Cyber World. The battle was as anti-climatic as you can get. It's seemingly as if she wanted them to win, she didn't even put up much of a fight. Maybe, just maybe, it's the fact that he has grown so powerful that she couldn't do anything. The many opponents he had defeated made him unstoppable, combine the fact that he's with Kris. If anything, nothing could stop the duo
After she died, the both of them sat on the ground. He was tired... so very tired. Endlessly fighting anything that comes in their way can lead to that. He doesn't know why Kris was sitting, they shouldn't be tired at all. For the most part on their impromptu pact, the only thing they did was command. Say the same command and point onto their next target, they didn't even pull out their sword half the time. Truthfully, Spamtom wasn't focused onto that. He just want to know if they were proud of him.
"Didn't I?" He repeats again. His voice was lifeless, hoarse from all the salt that is in his throat.
They didn't respond instantly like they did the many other times he questioned them, rather they look out the horizon, at the city of Cyber World. Once chucked full of denizens of people, going about their lives and earning a living. It's undeniably a beautiful place to live in. It was once lively and full of opportunity. But now? Now there's nothing, nobody left in that dark abyss.
Kris continued to stare out only to then look down on the rug. It looks like they have found the courage, or really any kind of emotion, to give an actual answer.
"No."
...
That... was an genuine answer. An answer he wish he'd never hear.
"Well," Spamtom tried to let out a chuckle, but failed as there's nothing to chuckle about. So with that in mind, he forced out his award winning smile to nobody but himself, "Guess you really can't please everybody."
His bright smile only lasted but a few seconds before it was replace with a dead, impassive frown. They weren't trying to help Spamtom at all, only use him like a damn puppet. Just like everyone else has done to him. The only pay off he got was that he become stronger. Stronger than his old self, stronger than the Queen, and possibly stronger than Kris themself.
There's no reason to stay with them anymore, they didn't abide with the deal, they didn't find his key. He might as well find it himself. Getting up from their spot, Spamtom walked past them and avoided their lingering gaze like a plague. He doesn't know if it's lifeless like his, but he doesn't want nor care for it any longer.
He never once turn back to them when he found the exit in the now desecrated castle. No Swachlings to clean up the mess he cause or any Tasques to drive away any maus, if there's any left that is. The palace was completely empty.
He exited the castle and gone to the streets. There was no cars running along the pathway, no buying customers spending their money like it's the end of the world, and no store clerks showing off their stuff. There was nothing but cold air.
It was scary...
When finally got to his alleyway with his disgusting of a home dumpster, he slump down on ground. He ponders back when he met the lone human on how the lightner can make him go back to the top of the boards. Become a big shot that he has always wanted. When he was about to continue spouting out insistent ramblings of deals, he realized he lost his keygen. The human must have heard him and was instantly interested. That's when he struck what he thought was the biggest deal of his life that could change his life and potentially the city itself.
It's too bad that the change wasn't in his favor.
Now everything's gone because of him, and now... now-
"Sp-Spamtom?" A voice coming from the way he came. He looks over and see that it's a pink Addison. His eyes gone wide to see a person, an old friend still alive and well; or at least well enough to say. He was definitely shaken up and was checking every corner as if a boogey-man would come out an scare him. "B-buddy, is that you?"
He didn't say anything to him. A good few things was plaguing his mind as he watch the Addison come forward. His first instinct was to tell them to go away. Another was to run at them and hug the living hell out of them. However, there in the darkest parts of his mind commanded him to take action.
"Make the sale." He got up but was promptly forced into a hug.
"Spamtom, I missed you!" The Addison sobbed out, tears falling down their neon like skin. Spamtom couldn't remember when the last time he hugged him or what his name was. The insistent command was the only thing that was in his mind. "Something is wrong, I think some madman is destroying the city and making people disappear!"
He already knows who that madman is, he's standing right in front of him.
"We need to get out here and quick!" He stayed quiet, either not wanting to say anything or he couldn't form any at the moment. His quietness caught the Addison's attention as he looks back on his smaller pal. "Spamtom, are-, are alright?"
Spamtom tried to look at him, but for some reason they couldn't focus on him. He realized why when he sees the castle. In his spot, he can perfectly see the castle in it's entirety. There in the distant, still on top of the castle was The Human looking down on him, almost like they were waiting for him to do something.
"Spamtom?" The Addison shakes him but he still didn't say anything.
The Human raised their hand and points.
"Answer me please."
He can see their eyes shine red, devoid of life and emotion.
"Spamtom please!"
"Deal Maker."
That's all he needed to hear.
"Spam-aaugh..." The Addison was cut off as a crunching sound was made below him. Pain, terrible and agonizing pain was met on his stomach. Struggling to look down, he see something black and white connecting to him and his friend. He stared at thing, horrified of it's implication. His eyes grew weak and his body couldn't move. It was like it's paralyzed him and draining every bit of energy out of him. His mind tried to think of something, anything to get it out of him, yet it become slower with each passing moment.
With every ounce of strength, he opened his mouth.
"S-Spamtom," The Puppet looked up, finally responding to his voice, "Wh-why?"
"Deal Breaker."
He pulls back the thing connected to him, letting the world see the horrific monster that shouldn't or even allowed to exist. It was a white heart-shaped object that has a face like The Puppet's own. Except, there was black lines and cracks on it that gave it an old decrepit look. It's wide smile shown it's jagged and evil teeth. It's worm like limb slowly retracted the heart into The Puppet's chest, almost as if there was nothing there to begin with.
The Puppet watched as the Addison falls to the ground and disappear. He looked up to see that The Human was still there, watching him like a hawk. They stare at each other for so long, he has lost the time.
Were they proud now that everyone is gone? Were they?
He doesn't care of their approval anymore. He's tired of all this. All he wanted to do was rest his body in his dumpster. Climbing up his home, he closed the lid and rest his head on a discarded pillow. Closing his eyes, he hopes the day will pass away.
Tomorrow, he can look for his key on his own.
