PHASE 2

"Growing up really is cruddy huh?" Wally thought as he eyes slowly rise open. The day after Fanny was decommissioned, Wally is now the youngest, the only, and the last KND operative of the second most known generation only second to the coming of Numbuh 0. Wally lied on his back staring at his ceiling, counting the tiles to pass time.

This is the first time the aggressive Aussie has been up this early for school. Fanny's decommissioning obviously didn't leave a good impression on him, as the newly teen blonde didn't get a wink of sleep last night.

Wally glances at Fanny's helmet lying on top of his dresser from the previous night. His thoughts recollecting as he stares at the steel embodiment of the now decommissioned supreme leader.

"Aging has to be the most cruddy, stupid, and definitely most shitty thing to happen to me." Wally whispers to himself lugging his lifeless shell of a body off his bed. He walks over to the helmet and rests his hand on it.

"I should probably return this huh? Not like she'd have a cruddy flying fuck on what it is and why I have it." Wally debated in his head as he picks up the scrap metal. The smell of it even reeks of her and it's been hours since it happened. It's oddly pleasant and nostalgic as he stuffs the helmet in his backpack as he continues to lousily get ready for school.

Wally was stumped, not only does he have to go to the first day of school and get decommissioned right after, he's now clueless on how to keep his promise to Fanny.

"Crud! Was she joking about the silly "let's be friends after decommissioning" like that's even a possibility?! She must've said it in the moment or something stupid like that.." Wally pondered while getting dressed for school. He's droopy and depressed as he struggles to put any feeling into actions while he gets ready.

The mere thought of losing all his memories, starting fresh and having no friends to go through the 8th grade with is awful. He's stated to all the previous decommissioned girls in his grade how cruddy and lame and cootie infested they are like an idiot, and all the dudes are so focused on getting girls now and "growing up" they won't pay any mind to some girl hating freak show like Wally.

"What if I just bend the KND rules a bit...I mean until I sit in that damn chair and get decommissioned I technically am the supreme leader..." Wally thought smirking to himself. He reached under his bed for the book of KND, this was the book given to him by Numbuh 1 before his decommissioning. He asked the last member of sector v to write down the remaining adventures he'd go on in his last months of being an operative for the rest of future kids to read.

Scrolling swiftly through the pages of old operative stories and tons and tons of unknown rules even to Numbuh 4's knowledge, he stumbles upon a section based on things you can and can't do before decommissioning.

Skimming through the paragraphs and pages of things that aren't useful or words he simply can't read he finds a section on leaving messages before decommissioning that read:

"Under no circumstances should a soon to be decommissioned operative leave messages, items, or information to other operatives or notes to themselves regarding info that could lead to the recommissioning naturally of the soon to be decommissioned operative. (Goodbye notes and sob stories must be authorized by either the global tactical officer or the supreme leader)"

As Wally read the paragraph his grin slowly grew wider and wider, reaching each end of his face like a freak show contestant. He grabbed the nearest notebook and pencil he could find and sat at his desk and started writing.

"Wally! Hurry up you don't want to be late for your first day at school! We'll make sure to take you out to eat for your birthday after!" shouted from the bottom of the stairwell as Wally finished his writing. He held up the notebook high above his head like playing a game with a baby.

"Uh, Ima coming dad!" Wally retorted to his father and he scrambled to grab his book bag and scattered down the stairs. The notebook he left flat open on his desk, the two pages he left open reading across both pages:

Skool too do list:

Get an A

Get a girlfriend

Get a spot on a sports team

The bottom of the list reading probably his most important note he could've written the list for which said:

Conquer Boy Hater:Fanny Fulbright.

At school

Wally enters the school with his hands jammed into his pockets and his stare gliding against the ground as he walks down the halls. Anyone with a decent ability to read a room could tell the notorious hot headed supreme leader was not happy in the slightest about his birthday. Wally lifts his head to see half the kids in the hallway, most likely fellow KND operatives yet to be decommissioned giving Wally a salute and smile as he shuffles past them.

Wally's sense of vision obviously limited by his gaze staring at his shoes fails to notice him about to collide with someone as he turns the corner. They smack against each other head first and both fall oppositely to the ground.

"Sorry about that du-" Wally stammered as he grabs a book of the person he crashed into. He can't help but freeze up and stare at the awfully too familiar red head standing in his path. Her angry gaze at him as he stares up at her stabs him like sharp knives, and her ready stance to act on her anger showing for the whole hallway to notice as if she was oozing violence.

"Well ya better watch where yer going next time boy! I don't got time for ya to be knocking over meh books on the first day stupid!" Fanny angrily shouts in Wally's face. Before Wally could even acknowledge his feelings towards running into her so early after the previous day his aggressive nature responded before his brain could.

"Well EXCUSE ME for making a small mistake and apologizing but NOOOO! Little miss red riding hood prefers if she's alright over everyone else!" Wally retaliates at the now taken aback Fanny. Her confused and defensive pose shows clear sign that she's never been stood back up to by any boy that she can remember at the very least. The 5'3 frustrated Aussie stares her down as she can't help but slightly cower at his forwardness. She looks the boy up and down taking an actual good look at the appearance of the blonde brick wall standing in her way before her face flushes in a dark red.

"U-uhm I-I-I...Sorry..." Fanny shyly blurts out before grabbing the rest of her books off the ground and hurrying past Wally. He stares back at her and keeps moving on towards his first period now completely embarrassed at himself by how easily he became flustered at a slightly aggressive tone from her.

"Crud...I really had to start off the first day of school yelling at someone, and her of all people? I hope my decommissioned side isn't as harsh next time I see her..." Wally thinks while facepalming heading to his first period class as eyes glance at him from lockers witnessing the small encounter.

"Fuck fuck fuck! Did I actually just get angry and then get yelled at by the cutest boy I've seen since I came into this school? This can't be real I'm so stupid!" Fanny thought while hurrying down the halls as fast as she could gripping her beet red cheeks the whole time.

Wally walks into his first period class and is greeted by quite a few familiar faces. Some are former operatives that himself or Fanny decommissioned in the past few months that left an imprint in his mind, or some being known operatives from famous sectors. There were two kids that caught his eye instantly though, more of one kid and a group of kids.

Kuki Sanban, also known as Numbuh 3 of the KND, or was known as that. Most importantly, that was his crush since he even joined the KND. She was just as tall maybe even a bit taller than she was back in the prime of sector v. Her hair flowed as long as it ever did and she had the same ear to ear smile that Wally fell for. She was dressed in a open green flannel with black checkers, exposing her black sports bra underneath that was bound to catch stares and surprisingly not the dress code? She also had long blue jeans to cover her legs, and her long black hair now even extending to the front of her face held back by two rainbow monkey styled hair pins on each side of her head. In the desk next to her stood the notorious group just as utterly eye catching as when Wally saw Kuki, the delightful children from down the lane. They never changed, dressed in the same attire as they always do with the same smile filled with evil and the same old bunched up group. The only difference about them was the height changes and acne covering the faces of each of them. It was almost laughable to Wally as he stood solid at the doorway as everyone turned towards him and he froze in place. What are the chances his first period is filled not only with his mortal enemies but his crush? The gazes of everyone in the class including the now smirking delightful children and a wide smile Kuki as he approached the only last available seat behind Kuki in the second row.

"Hi random boy who I've never seen before! I'm Kuki Sanban what's your name!" Kuki eagerly asks the flustered boy as he turns a light shade of pink and lifts his head to stare back at the girl. Wally hasn't exchanged words with Kuki since her decommissioning. She was the last he had to see go right before his eyes and the worst one to witness. His silence said it all as she was seconds away from being decommissioned and confessed her love for Wally with a simple "I love you" before she was taken from him.

If only he said it back.

It's been at least three or more months since that day and he's been avoiding even going for walks or missions near her street if it meant straying from having to interact with her. Meeting her all over again, learning about her all over again, figuring out things he's known for years and building a bond with her...

All over again.

"H-hey Kuki...I'm Wallabee Beatles, it's nice to meet you." Wally replies to the eccentric Asian girl while holding it his hand. She grabs it with both her hands and shakes it furiously up and down as if she was trying to rip his arm from his socket.

"Kuki! That's enough hands to yourself! Face forward so we can start introductions!" The teacher speaks as Kuki stops and turns around. Wally stares at his now sore hand and smiles softly. He takes out a smaller different notebook than this morning from his backpack and writes down "Kooks :)" at the last page of the notebook in the corner of the page.

"It's been too long since I felt her touch..." He thought as the sounds of the teacher begin to drown out as he already gets bored of people heading to the front of the classroom for introductions and continues to scribble doodles in his journal for the rest of the class. The rest of the day played out the same as his first period, introductions and seeing former operatives he either decommissioned or people he's seen or was slightly fond of.

As Wally arrives at the door of his last period he thinks how easy this day has been. He expected to have his sector scattered across all his classes and having to deal with the mental strain of seeing them and not being able to go about how they usually did when they're right in front of his eyes. It's his last day as a KND operative and the supreme leader anyways. He just hopes this last class will go without anyone else from his sector or anymore of his friends be behind this door.

He swings the door open and stares into the vast space of the gym and to his surprise he must be the first one here for the final period as the gym is empty. He walks in and is greeted by the gym teacher and asked his name and told to take a seat on the bench. He waits a few minutes dozing off and day dreaming silently until a voice breaks his little mental world.

"This seat taken baby?" The mysterious girl speaks as Wally looks up to who had the courage to call him such a cutesy name in the first place. His eyes darted to the red cap on her head as his eyes adjust to the sudden light in the room after being shut for a bit and sees a familiar black girl looking down at him. Her blue long sleeve hoodie with white stripes along the sleeves and dark gray jogging pants accompanied by tennis shoes obviously made for comfort. She held a lollipop in her mouth showing her knack for candy as Wally questions if there's even candy on the end of it considering how short the stick is. The most noticeable thing about her is the long single braid drifting down her back covered by the famous red cap worn by two of the greatest combatant operatives known to KND.

"N-Nah, your good uh...chick?" Wally speaks questioning his own choice of words there. Abigail gives him a confused look before shrugging it off and taking a seat next to him. Wally finally opened his eyes long enough to see kids have filled some of the seats and benches around him but none next to him. He wonders why Abigail approached him in the first place as she relaxes her head and closes her eyes.

"You looked kinda lonely, as if everyone was sitting away from ya for some reason." Abby whispers with her eyes still shut speaking to Wally. It does seem that way at first glance from the distance between him and all the other kids. It's majority chicks accompanied by guys trying to either hit on them or impress them in any way they can possibly find but it's obvious the girls wanted nothing to do with him.

"Oh...Thanks." Wally speaks getting a nod of approval from the former KND operative. It's good to see two of his fellow operatives didn't change personality wise in the slightest. He thought it'd be more painful and frustrating to speak with any of them after what he's been through, but they're proving to still have a soft spot in his heart for them.

Decommissioning was known to erase any memories related to KND, including friendships built through the association or even names learned throughout the program. It really does get rid of everything you've learned with all those years spent, what a terrifying thought but not even decommissioning can change someone's personality regardless if it was built through KND or not.

As Abby relaxes and Wally continues to daydream their silence is broken by the shouting of the gym teacher. They look in the direction of the commotion and see the teacher grabbing everyone's attention ushering them to leave the gym.

The students proved to no rush and followed orders but all equally confused. As Abby and Wally walked side by side out the gym Wally spots the curly red headed girl Fanny at the front of the group walking behind the teacher.

"Perfect! Not only do I have a class with her, I can go apologize to her before this day is over!" Wally planned as he pushed and shoved people out the way through the group while Abby follows him just because.

The group of kids gather outside with their belongings on a first day of school fire drill. Nobody was really told it was a drill so it was more confusing than practice. The kids all in different class groups spread across the middle schools front yard. The teachers took headcounts of their classes before reporting the kids for early dismissal. The children cheered and started to scatter out of joy including Wally and Abby.

"Well damn, that wasn't that hard of a first day of school!" Wally excitedly exclaims while Abby pats him on the back from behind.

"Yo bud, I seen ya glaring down miss ginger over there. It's the first day of school and you already crushing? Aww that's so sweet considering a thick head like you never even told me your name.." Abby teases the now red faced teenage operative. He really did forget to tell Abby his name considering he's known her all these years. It's like muscle memory for him to expect her to know, it really shows how used he's been to his sector all these years.

"As if! She just uh... the chick owes me a quarter...? Yeah that's right! Oi and also the I'm not thick headed, the names Wallabee Beatles but you can call me Wally." Wally counters the red capped girl. She gives him a smirk before tapping his nose with her finger and then turning around while waving him goodbye as she heads her way back home.

"The names Abby suga, I'll see you tomorrow at gym!" Abby shouts from afar. Wally can't help but crack a smile at his former friend who's just as kind as she was a pain in his back. Wally searches through the groups of kids heading home and some even sitting back and talking hoping if he can catch a glimpse of where Fanny went.

He sees the girl walking down the sidewalk by herself in the distance barely in eyesight. He scurries through the crowds of kids and bolts to get in range of the short tempered girl before he pauses. He freezes as he was about to call out her name but panicked and hid in the nearest bush as she turned around thinking she heard something.

"I was so gung-ho about apologizing because of the promise, I didn't even think about what I was gonna say!" Wally panics as Fanny walks closer and closer away with Wally slowly creeping in bushes hot on her trail. She'll stop every few minutes and turn around as if she heard him, he can't tell if its paranoia or her KND instincts are really that engraved into her.

Before Wally could even get a starting line on how to even star the conversation with the Scottish brute he hears her keys rattling as she stops in front of a house. He should've recognized the house earlier as the one from the day of that god awful torture he experienced or what the girls called a sleepover. Wally puffed his chest and gathered every last bit of courage to approach the girl before she entered her house.

As he marched towards her she took notice to the light footsteps approaching her and turned around to lock eyes with the now nervous soon to be decommissioned operative. He stood in front of her staring her eye to eye and is met with an lightly flushed face as a response. Despite her masculine way of going about things she smelled just like a girl from this close, her scent making the young blonde equally as red as the former supreme leader. Even the small embarrassed smile she gave him resembled that of a girl compared to what she was before she was decommissioned.

"H-hey...I seen you from my house uhh...over there and just wanted to apologize about earlier. I didn't mean to come at you so inconsiderately in front of everyone in the hallway like that, especially on the first cruddy day of school." Wally managed to speak as rain suddenly started pouring heavily on the two before Fanny could respond. She opens her door and motions the boy in and slams the door shut and locks it on the now wet duo. She rushes upstairs leaving Wally soaked in the living room before returning with two towels.

"First of all, I accept ya stupid apology. Secondly, hurry up and dry off and get out before meh brothers or dad gets back. My brothers are notorious snitches and meh dad will KILL me if he finds me alone...with a...boy.." Fanny stammers as she dries off her hair with the towel. Wally couldn't help but stare at the girls charms now that he no longer sees her as an operative or teammate and more as a friend. Fanny notices his gazing at her and blushes madly trying to act like she didn't notice his staring.

"Ahem." The girl says breaking the blonde's trance. He sees her flushed face and realized what he was probably doing and gets red at the thought of him looking at her like that. She also got slightly red before motioning him to follow her to the steps, both sharing an equal blush as they walk up the stairwell.

"We should head to meh r-room before someone gets home. We are standing here all silly willy in the living room doing nothing.." Fanny shyly tells the boy as he nods to agree. As they are heading up the stairs Wally can't help but remember the last time he was here for the sleepover he sneaked into as a supposed "girl" because he wanted to be in the mission. He snickered at the embarrassing thought of the old memories of how naive he was before as Fanny opens her bedroom door.

"Did I really just effortlessly invite him in? I'm so stupid.." Fanny thought as she entered her room.

The room didn't change one bit since he last saw it. The wallpaper stained with rainbow monkeys so was the rug on her floor. The bed sheets there to match with a rainbow monkey bean bag in the corner, and even a pile of rainbow monkeys that could hide someone if they were stuffed into all of them on the bed. He almost instinctively gagged at the sight, not even Kuki's room in the tree house was this decorated.

Wally sits on the bed as he notices Fanny pacing back and forth across her room silently whispering to herself seeming troubled about something. Wally stares out the window wondering when the rainstorm will decide to stop. The tension in the room was obvious to the two young teens, it was awkward to be in a situation like this for the both of them. In Fanny's eyes she blindly invited a boy she doesn't even know the name of into her house simply because she found him a little cute. It's even worse for Wally knowing that she has no clue he is but he knows everything about her.

"Crud, I kinda feel like a weirdo but I didn't know she'd invite me in over some lousy rainstorm? If I didn't come in would she have thought I didn't like her? How is it so hard to just be friends with this girl?" Wally thought as he remembers he put the helmet in his book bag. He stops his day dreaming and worrying as he takes off his backpack and pulls it out as Fanny notices what he's doing.

"What's that?" Fanny questions Wally as she walks over and sits on the bed next to him. It seems obviously something in her head made her remember the silly little helmet a little for her to be so intrigued into it. She stares at the helmet in his bag and looks at Wally with eyes ushering him to answer her curiosity. Wally turns a little red at the face the ginger girl is making at him.

"Well... It's yours." Wally tells Fanny nervously while handing her the helmet. She grabs it and stares at the number logo, something about this hunk of junk is just so...familiar to her. The way it feels on her hands seems so right, as if her body recognizes the helmet as something she's been familiar with a long time while her mind doesn't. This whole situation just feels so...irregular and regular at the same time. This boy gave her such a reassuring vibe the instant they bumped into each other in the hallway. The way he speaks makes her feel warm inside, as if something about him she's been hearing everyday for a long time. Just the feeling she gets from being this close to him is so surreal she can't begin to explain it in words.

"Something about ya, something about all this just doesn't sit right with meh. I don't know what's making meh feel this way, I feel like I'm missing pieces to the biggest mental puzzle eva." Fanny explains to Wally as she looks him in the eyes. He can't help but scratch his head and look away, there's so much he's just teething to tell he but he's already past due on his decommissioning and given a past operative something linking to their time with the KND. He's committed two really punishable crimes to the KND but he's the supreme leader after all, nobody can really punish him but himself.

"I'm not really sure of what you mean girl, but that helmet is something you...let me have long ago. I think we was uhm... like at least five or something years old playing some secret agency game I think..?" Wally says obviously lying. He hopes she takes the bait as she looks back down at the helmet, lifting it above her head. Wally stares in awe just hoping, praying that her putting on the helmet does something to bring back the Fanny he knows.

She softly places it on her head, it seems even smaller on her than it did before her decommissioning. Wally looks at the girl as she gets up and looks at herself in her mirror. The helmet fit her like a glove, there is nothing uncomfortable about it on her head despite it being made of scrap metal. The number 86 logo on the front of it, the more she stares at it she notices different things about it. The logo obviously painted on by a young kid at least, the helmet probably made that way too. The number feels all too familiar as she stares at herself.

"Soo... how's it feel?" Wally questions Fanny now standing next to her in the mirror. She turns and looks at him before taking the helmet off and handing it out back to the boy.

"Here, I don't need this anymore. Sorry if we were friends back then but I don't remember it at all. I can't recall much of anything that's happened for a while now, maybe even the last few years have been a blur in my head and scattered. When I put on the helmet it felt nostalgic, it felt right but I couldn't tell why." Fanny tells the boy now looking at him instead of the mirror, he was looking at her now too and they both realize and look away while bright red

"It's fine Fanny." Wally accidentally blurted out and then realized he said her name before she told him. She looks back at him confused and even more red than before, she's completely stunned and as red as half the rainbow monkeys scattered across her room. Wally begins to mentally panic and also turn red, he really already did compromise sharing past operatives items to the decommissioned state and now she might question how he knows her name.

"There's no way I'm this stupid, Crud!" Wally pondered panicking at his mistake of calling her by her name. The embarrassed beet red girl stares at the floor while Wally scratches his head. Now it's awkward, both of them not knowing how to react after the sudden name calling.

"I should've guessed I told you my name if it were kids back then..." Fanny softly says to Wally as he sighs in relief. They're practically so close they can feel each others bodies as if they were touching. Fanny is smiling, her constant flushed face since he apologized now slightly fading as she stares at the boy. Wally as red as he's ever been since Kuki. He stares back worried as the tension in the air is as thick as the redhead locs in Fanny's hair.

"Hey...What was your name? I never really thought to ask.." Fanny asks the beet red Wally, he also realizes he never told her his name in this whole time he's been in her house. He thinks of how they started the day yelling at each other in the break of dawn and now they're this close practically hugging. Their faces practically inches apart looking into each other's eyes as if there was nothing better to do at that moment.

"It's W-Wally, Wallabee Beatles." Wally tells the redhead who giggles at the hearing of his name which slightly annoys the now irritated Wally. Wally wonders if something as simple as him telling her his name could reach her memories or are all of them really gone. The tension of the situation feels lighter now, as both of them seem more calm and less awkward than before.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to make fun of ya name it's just even your name makes me feel so...nice." Fanny explains shyly, as she closes her eyes and leans in. Wally nervously does the same awkwardly but before either of them could say or do anything else they get startled by a sudden slam of a door from downstairs. The sound breaks any tension or mood in the room of the two teens instantly as they both silently stand in place.

"Fanny! I'm home early! Are you up there in your room?" yells from downstairs, or that's his actual name but Wally knows that voice as the villain. Fanny and Wally's face drops as they both realize the worst case scenario of anyone coming home early had to happen today of all days. It also had to be Fanny's dad of all people and not even her brothers which they could probably explain better.

"What are ya doing just standing there? HIDE!" Fanny suddenly snaps at the awestruck boy. He snaps back into reality and starts searching across the rainbow monkey stricken room for anywhere to hide. The room wasn't exactly a boundless playground or anything so it would be hard for him to find anywhere to hide properly in the moment.

"Closet? Nah I'll be found instantly!"

"Under the bed? If I make too much noise I'm done for.."

"Rainbow monkey pile...?"

Wally suddenly hops into the enormous pile of rainbow monkeys on Fanny's bed and meshes into it like a bottomless pit. Fanny also begins to find something to occupy herself with so she won't be suspected for not answering as yells her name coming up the stairs. He pushes open the door with force only to find Fanny under the sheets on her bed facing the pile of rainbow monkeys away from the door pretending to sleep.

"Oh, Sorry sweetie I didn't mean to disturb your nap." apologizes while closing the door. Fanny waits about thirty seconds before sitting up and sighing out of relief. That was a close call, she luckily somehow fooled him being asleep while still fully clothed under the sheets. If he came near her like he might usually do he might've even heard Wally in the rainbow monkeys.

"You okay in there Wally?" Fanny questions Wally as he sticks his head out of the pile of rainbow monkeys. Fanny can't help but begin to laugh at the silly sight of the annoyed boy stuck in between all of the stuffed animals. The irritated Aussie can't believe the only viable hiding place in the moment was a pile of rainbow monkeys of all things.

"This sucks." Wally says hopping out of the huge pile of rainbow monkeys. He hops off the bed, grabs his backpack and opens up the window as Fanny begins to reach out to the boy escaping out the window. Wally jumps down and lands swiftly and with ease from a height that high most likely due to his KND side of athleticism.

"Wally!" Fanny calls out to the oblivious Aussie as he's walking away. He turns around and sees Fanny leaning on the windowsill with one hand on her cheek and the other across the beam while smiling. She hesitates at speaking at the waiting blonde but gathers herself and says something instead of keeping him waiting.

"See you at school?" Fanny says to the boy receiving a smile in response.

"Yeah, see you at school."

Wally says turning his back and walking away while smiling. He's never felt so...embarrassed or awkward to a girl like that before. Sure sometimes Kuki would say or do some things that made him get a little red but that whole situation felt so wrong in all the right ways. He clutches his chest as he thinks about how he was mindlessly staring at her hair when she was drying it, how she smelled made him red each time. He clutched his chest even harder thinking about how close she was just mere minutes ago, their faces leaning in and practically so close to...

"Kissing! We almost kissed and I just met him!" Fanny thought crouched under her window as red as she'd ever been in her life. She grabs her chest and feels her heart beating fast, she feels warm like she'd just found a blanket in winter. The thought of that...boy is making her feel so awkward and she just met or actually re-met him again and that happens.

Wally clutches his chest even harder thinking the same thing Fanny was. They really were so close to doing that in the moment, he wasn't sure if it was the fact that they were alone in her house or did they really find each other attractive in that way. As Wally walks down the street to his house daydreaming about what just transpired three KND battle ships land in front of him and soldiers aiming plentiful amounts of two by four technology at him hop out of each ship.

"Supreme Leader Numbuh 4, orders from all the sector leaders across the world and some anonymous higher up operatives have requested we take you in by force to be decommissioned as fast as possible." An operative shouts at Wally with his hands high in the air.

"Ah Crud."
