Chapter 1 -
Subaru's parents had passed away last year in a car accident on April 1st. According to the police, the car fell off the cliff due to being out of control. Fourteen-year-old Subaru was all alone. He could not apologise to his parents for everything he has done for them or thank them for everything they had done for him.
Today is April 1st. A year has passed since my parents passed away. It was tough at first, but I have moved on from the toughest time. I cannot believe that I learned the valuable lesson after they passed away. I am Natsuki Subaru, son of Natsuki Kenichi and Natsuki Naoko. I kept on trying to be like dad, just to fail and now I realised my mistake. In front of my classmate, neighbours, no in front of everyone, I was Natsuki Subaru. I can't believe I learned my lesson the hard way.
[Subaru: I am going to school now mom, dad]
Subaru always brings his parents picture with him so that if he needs to feel strong, all he needs to do is look at their picture.
Subaru opens the door and the wind grazes through him.
[?: Good morning Subaru, Going to school? I thought you would go to your parent's grave today considering is the anniversary.]
[Subaru: Good morning Old lady Suzuha.]
Suddenly old lady walks towards him and grabs his ear.
[Suzuha: Who you calling old lady? I am only 29 years old and 87months old.]
[Subaru: Ouch, I am sorry. You are still young if you have this much energy]
[Suzuha: You are just like your dad. Anyway, are you not going answer my question?]
[Subaru: I was planning to visit them after the school ends. I don't have part-time job today and my parents more likely wants me to go to school more than anything]
[Suzuha: You are right. I miss your mom and dad as well. By the way, don't eat too much
mayonnaise. I know that Natsuki family is famous as mayo lovers but please be moderate.]
Subaru points his left hand towards sky and turns his hip 90 degree to his upper body and put his right arm on the hip. His signature move that could make any woman runaway within 50 metre radiuses of him.
[Subaru: As long as Natsuki blood flows in my vein, I will be forever a mayo lover.]
[Suzuha: Why do I even bother?...Bye Subaru. Come to my house after visiting your parents.]
[Subaru: See you later.]
Subaru starts to run towards school as he was a bit late. While he was running he tripped over a stone and began to fall on the road. Subaru closes his eyes and hears something.
"I love you…"
Subaru opens his eye and he notices that he is being carried by a red-haired man.
["Hello, I noticed that you were about fall in the river, so I helped you"]
[Subaru: huh? ]
Subaru looks back and sees a small river and a bridge on top. He also looks at the red-haired man.
Where am I? am I in a convention or something. This dude is wearing a cool costume and a sword that looks too real.
[Subaru: Oh, what character are you cosplaying because I don't think I ever seen this character, even the sword looks too real.]
[Reinhard: I don't know what cosplay is, but my name is Reinhard Van Astrea. I am a knight of the kingdom of Lugnica. This sword is dragon sword Reid, I am the current sword saint.]
[Subaru: Lugnica?]
Subaru looks around and sees the crowd that formed around him.
This is weird, some of them look different from humans. Are they demi-humans or something that see in games? I don't think I ever heard of a country called Lugnica. Is it one of that isekai stuff I read in the manga? I am wearing the school uniform and I have my bag with me.
Reinhard used divine protection of empathy to read the feelings of the person.
Reinhard: He is confused
[Subaru: Thank you for saving me then. My name is Natsuki Subaru, I am new to this land.]
Reinhard looks at his clothes and notices the blue suit he is wearing.
[Reinhard: Are you a noble Subaru? I've never seen a suit like yours also that object in your back is also something I've never seen.]
[Subaru: you are right Reinhard. I was on my way to school and suddenly I got here. I have no idea how I got here. ]
[Reinhard: I see, no wonder you were confused]
[Subaru: huh?]
[Reinhard: I have divine protection of Empathy which can help me read the feelings of the person I touched. Sorry for using it without permission.]
Subaru: Divine protection? Must be one of those magic stuff.
Subaru looks around and sees the crowd that formed around them.

Subaru turns to Reinhard.
[Subaru: We should move away from here. It looks like we are attracting too much attention.]
Reinhard looks around and sees the crowd dispersing.
[Reinhard: come with me Subaru, I have some questions I need to ask.]
Reinhard and Subaru walks towards the fountain and sits on a bench
[Reinhard: You told me you are new to this land, and you didn't even know the name of Lugnica the country that you are in. I also noticed that you were lying when you said you fell off from the bridge thanks to my divine protection of wind indication. Where are you from Subaru?]
[Subaru: I am from an island called Japan. I believe that I am not from this world considering we don't have any divine protections or any other races than humans. We have around 195 countries in our world and never heard of a country called Lugnica.]
Reinhard was shocked to hear this.
[Reinhard: Are you from above the great cascade?]
[Subaru: I don't know what that means but I am not from here. I was in my old world just a minute ago. As I was saying earlier I was going to school and tripped over a stone and I closed my eyes as I was falling and when I opened my eyes you were there carrying me. Did you see me suddenly appearing from nowhere?]
[Reinhard: no, I was not looking in the direction. One of my divine protection sensed a disturbance so I looked in your direction and saw you falling.]
Subaru: Did he save me in that split second?
[Subaru: Do you know where I am and how can I get back.]
Reinhard frowns and looks at him
[Reinhard: You are currently in the capital of Lugnica. I have never heard of anyone going above the great cascade apart from Great Dragon Volcanica. If you don't mind you can live with me so that you can learn about this world and live here comfortably.]
[Subaru: You shouldn't bring a stranger like me with you, Reinhard. Your feelings are more than enough and I think of you as a friend. I don't want to cause you any more trouble.]
Reinhard: Subaru sees a monster like me as a friend. I must help him no matter what.
[Reinhard: Thank you for seeing me as a friend Subaru. I insist that you should come with me. If others find out that you are from above great cascade, then you will be in grave danger. Also, you probably don't know how to read and write. I don't want you to accidentally go inside the public female restroom and get slapped by them.] 😉
Subaru: It looks like I have no choice. He is one of those types that help others no matter what.

Subaru and Reinhard stood in front of the gate of the Astrea mansion. Subaru couldn't believe what he was seeing. He felt like he won a lottery ticket to Disney World.
[Subaru: I thought you were going to invite me to your house, but damn isn't this a mansion? Wait does that mean you are noble? Should I call you Reinhard Sama?]
[Reinhard: My family is well known in Lugnica. You do not need to worry about treating me like a noble, we are friends after all.]
Damn, he's nice guy level is off the chart.
A maid approaches them from the mansion. She had brown hair that barely touches her shoulder and was a foot shorter than Subaru.
[Maid: welcome back Reinhard Sama. Is this a guest?]
[Reinhard: Yes Sia, this is Subaru. He will be staying with us for the time being so can you prepare a room for him.]
[Sia: certainly, Reinhard Sama. Subaru Sama, please follow me as I guide you to your room.]
[Subaru: Thanks Sia but you don't need to call me with Sama, you can just call me Subaru. I am not a noble or anything and it feels weird to be called like that.]
[Sia: Certainly Subaru Sam-…Subaru]
Subaru and Reinhard follow Sia to one of the guest room in the mansion. While walking through the hallways he notices that Reinhard was looking down as soon as he saw the picture of a red-haired woman.
Subaru: something must have happened to him in the past, and it has something to do with that woman in the picture.
[Sia: This is your room Subaru. I will bring you some tea shortly.]
[Subaru: Thanks Sia]
Sia bows and left the room.
[Reinhard: I will briefly explain about this world. There are four countries in this world. The Dragon Kingdom of Lugnica, Kararagi City-States, Sacred Vollachia Empire and the Holy Kingdom of Gusteko.]
[Subaru: oh, there are only four kingdoms. What did you mean by great cascade?]
[Reinhard: All four edges of the world end with giant cliffs where water pours down into the abyss below.]
[Subaru: pfft, does that mean this world is flat?]
[Reinhard: we have mountains and rivers so it's not flat.]
[Subaru: Ignore what I said. You mentioned something like Divine Protection, is it something to do with magic?]
[Reinhard: No, Divine Protection are given by Od Lagna. Od Lagna is said to be where all the mana comes from, it's like the will of the world itself. Some people get Divine Protections. Anyone can use magic (Apart from me). There are 4 main affinities. Fire, water, earth, wind. Can I check your magic affinity Subaru?]
[Subaru: Sure]
[Reinhard: Close your eyes so I can feel your gate.]
Subaru closes his eyes. Suddenly Subaru felt something.
?: Due to the contract HE made with Od Laguna, Sage Candidate Natsuki Subaru will receive Divine Protection of yin mastery and Divine Protection of Spirit Gathering.
Reinhard touches his shoulder and suddenly his eyes widened and returned to normal quickly.
Reinhard: What was that? There's something in the deepest part of his Od that protects him. Does he have Divine Protection of Yin Mastery and Divine Protection of Spirit Gathering? The amount of mana he has is the largest mana pool I have ever seen. It is even larger than Roswal L Mathers. Plus, he has shadow magic and he can master it in no time.
He touches the hilt of his sword and his eyes widened again.
Reinhard: He is a worthy opponent. It is a good thing that he is with me so I can keep an eye on him.
[Subaru: So, what is it Rein?]
[Reinhard: Rein?]
[Subaru: oh, it is a nickname. It is tiring to say your name every time. You do not like it?]
[Reinhard: No, I like that nickname Subaru. Also, your magic affinity is shadow.]
[Subaru: Shadow?]
[Reinhard: yes, apart from the four main affinities there are two rare ones. Light and Shadow. Shadow magic is used to blind enemies and to decrease the enemy's perception. Even though shadow magic is rare it consumes a lot of mana to use spells.]
[Subaru: I see, shadow magic is pretty weak huh? Oh, apparently something inside my mind or body I am not sure what it is, but it told me I have Divine Protection of Yin mastery and Divine Protection of Spirit Gathering.]
[Reinhard: No, shadow magic is strong, maybe strongest. Because shadow magic is rare and needs a lot of mana to use, people do not use it so most of the spells are unknown. However you have a lot of mana Subaru, by a lot I mean the largest mana pool I have ever seen in my entire life and since you have divine protection of yin mastery, you can master yin magic in no time.]
[Subaru: what about Divine Protection of spirit gathering?]
[Reinhard: Apart from using your own mana pool to use magic, you can use mana in the air by spirit arts. Spirit arts is basically using spirits in the air to absorb mana in the air. You can use spirits to fight with you as well if you make contract with them. The advantage of spirit art is that you can use different types of magic depends on the spirit you contracted with. My friend Julius also has the divine protection of spirit gathering, he told me that to use spirit arts, first you need to think out loud.]
[Subaru: Think out loud?]
[Reinhard: Think that lot of floating lights are around you and ask them to show themselves.]
Subaru closes his eyes and starts to think out loud. Suddenly a bunch of floating light started to appear. The whole Astrea mansion was filled with them. It was that time Sia opened the door and saw Subaru and Reinhard with thousands of spirits. She dropped the tea and stared at the spirits in awe. Subaru looked at the spirits that gathered around him and suddenly he started to cry.
[Reinhard: You alright Subaru?]
[Subaru: I am fine Rein, these floating lights reminded me of the time Christmas I spent with my parents. Oh, Christmas is a kind of celebration from where I come from.]
Reinhard: Even without the divine protection of spirit gathering, his spiritual affinity is highest I have ever seen. His contracted spirits can become great spirits in the future or even make contracts with great spirits.
Subaru began to hear many many voices
"what's your name meany eye?", "wow, your spirit affinity is really high", "where are you from", "want to be friends?", "your hairstyle is weird", "are you actually from above great cascade", "you are beautiful".
[Subaru: Hi everyone I am Subaru, it is hard to hear when you all talk together. How about I make some other time to talk? I am in a land where I know nothing of. You guys can help me as well.]
"Sure, meany eye", "bye Subaru", "See you later Subaru", "If you need help think out loud".
All the spirits faded away. Both Reinhard and Subaru looked at the door to see tea spilt on the floor and Sia who did not realise the fact that she spilt the tea.
[Subaru: Sia, you spilt the tea.]
Suddenly Sia's face gets bright red due to the embarrassment.
[Sia: I am sorry Subaru, Reinhard Sama I have never seen a beautiful scene like that in my entire life. I will clean this quickly and bring you tea shortly.]
Sia picks up the tray and leaves the room.
[Reinhard: I must say Subaru, this is the first time I have seen someone who talks to spirits verbally Usually, spirit art users must make sure their mind is clear and concentrate solely without disturbing surroundings.]
[Subaru: They reminded me of the kids that played with me. They were curious just like those brats.]
Reinhard looks at Subaru seriously.
[Reinhard: Subaru I want you to listen very carefully]

[Reinhard: I want you to become one of the Royal Knight of the Lugnica just like me. The reason I am asking is that you have an absurd amount of mana than anyone I have ever seen, and you can get more mana from the spirit art. You will also be able to cast other magic other than shadow if you contract with spirits that have different affinities. By being a royal knight, you are protected by the Lugnica. Subaru was shocked to hear this.
Subaru: I need a job to survive in this flat world which I do not know how to read or write. I want a trustworthy friend who can keep my secret and help me when I am in trouble. Reinhard's offer is good so I should accept his offer.
[Subaru: I will accept your offer on one condition?]
[Reinhard: What is it Subaru?]
Reinhard was afraid. He was afraid of what will be the condition Subaru want.
[Subaru: I want you to keep the fact that I am from above great cascade a secret.]
[Reinhard: Thank od, I thought you were going to ask for something else. I was planning to keep it a secret, so I accept your condition. You will be staying in this room from now on and learn how to read and write, after that you will learn the history of Lugnica, and I will teach you manners and how to act like a knight. I was planning to help you learn how to use the sword, but you are not very talented like others, and you should spend more time mastering yin magic and we can go somewhere far away in the forest to look for spirits that are suitable for you because spirits tend to stay away from towns and people.]
[Subaru: Sure. I am fourteen now so when will I get knighted?]
[Reinhard: I was planning to make you royal knight when you are sixteen. With the divine protection of teaching, I can make you learn our language much faster.]
*knock knock*
[Reinhard: come in]
[Sia: I apologise for earlier; I have brought tea with snacks]
[Subaru: Shanks Sia]
[Reinhard: This is perfect. Sia, I want you to become Subaru's personal maid.]
[Sia: Certainly Reinhard Sama. I look forward to serving you Subaru Sama sorry Subaru]
[Subaru: I look forward to as well Sia]
[Reinhard: you can take a rest now. I will send Sia to bring you for dinner.]
As they both left the room, Subaru suddenly jumps on the bed.
Subaru: what do you mean by the personal maid? Reinhard said she is going to serve me. Is that what I think it is? Nightly service? No no no, it can't be…unless?. It can't be. I hope so.
Subaru opens his bag and put the picture on top of the table in his room.
Subaru: mom, dad I got yeeted into another world. Strangely I do not miss my old world. Sure, I would miss Old lady Suzuha and she will be worried about not finding me but a world without you guys were sad. I will do my best to make you guys proud. Natsuki Subaru promises you.

I am going to make Subaru OP because I can. My man broke his gate with shamak bruh, give him a break. He also has high spirit affinity so he will be OP.
I repeat OP. you heard me, I will make him op to the point they will make Subaru Law. Subaru will have Return by death however he most likely never gonna know about it so he won't use it. Who knows? I might kill him for fun.
Subaru will be magic oriented, none of those whip stuff
