Sakura's POV
That man is back. The same man with the kid, but this time he is by himself. "Hello sir, how may I help you?" The man rubs the back of his neck nervously. A tint of red forms on his cheeks.
"Is...uh... are you guys still hiring?" For such a cute guy, he is very weird.
"Yes, is that friend of yours looking for an application?"
"Actually, I am... the one... looking for the application." I can't tell if he is embarrassed because he said a friend was looking for a job yesterday, or he is embarrassed to apply for a waiter job.
"Great!" I grab one of the many application sheets we have and hand it to him. "Just fill this out and hand it in to me. You are the only person who has filled out an application so far, so I have a good feeling you will get an interview." Now where is a pencil? I swear I had one. Did I put it in my pocket? No. Is it on the register? No.
"Um..." The man makes a quiet noise. When I look up, he is pointing to his ear. Oh coarse! My ear! I grab the pencil from my right ear and give it to him. "Thanks. I will be right here when you are done."
Sasuke's POV
God that was awkward. I didn't expect her to be the one I talked to about getting an application. As soon as I saw her I froze and couldn't speak properly. She probably thinks I'm an idiot now. Whatever, it's done with. If I don't get this job I won't have to see her again and probably make a fool of myself, and if I do get this job, I will just ignore her.
The application has the normal questions and information. I remember when I filled out hundreds of these before actually landing a good job. Hopefully it won't take as long as it took to get my old job. I quickly fill out the application, and walk back up to the counter. The waitress isn't there anymore. No one is here. I'm not gonna wait, I need to go find a cheap gift for Sarada since today is her actual birthday. I just place the application on the counter and turn to the door.
Sakura's POV
"Sakura please take the tickets."
"What am I gonna do with them? I'm not a kid." Tenten keeps trying to give me three tickets to a new amusement park. Tenten's dad owns the park.
"An amusement park isn't just for kids. As my father would say, 'Amusement parks are for anyone who's a kid at heart.' Come on Sakura, you and Gaara could go." I haven't told Tenten about the ultimatum Gaara gave me. Besides, even if Gaara and I weren't fighting he still wouldn't want to go.
"Gaara wouldn't want to go to an amusement park."
"Then invite Hinata and someone else. I don't care, just go, have fun for once. You don't look like your normal cheery self. You look stressed out. Invite some old friends of yours, and go have fun." Before I can reject, Tenten gives me the tickets. "Just think about it." It's not that I don't like amusement parks, I just can't get what Gaara said to me out of my head. And I don't think I would have a lot of fun with his deep voice in my head.
The doorbell on the door entrance of the restaurant rings. Must be a new customer. I get up and straighten my uniform and take a deep breath. Time to put on a smile. When I leave the backroom to the counter, no one is there, but an application is on the counter. The man must have left. On the application paper, under the name column, I read 'Sasuke Uchiha'. Looks like we finally have a new waiter.
Third Person's POV
Sarada can't help but speed walk her way home. She and Sasuke just finished shopping at the grocery store and she picked out a cupcake for her birthday. Every time she gets too ahead of Sasuke, he gets more annoyed. "Sarada, enough! I've told you a hundred times to stop walking ahead of me!" Sarada stares at the ground with an upset look as she waits for Sasuke to catch up to her. Once he finally does he says, "If you can't help it then hold on to the bag." Sasuke is referring to the bags in his hands. The bag in his right hand has cheap meals, bread, and a couple of random foods that were on sale. In the bag in his left hand is the cupcake, and a gift wrapped in newspaper. Sarada does as he says and grabs the right bag. Sasuke doesn't normally lash out at Sarada, he never needs to. He has a couple of times, and when he does, he is scary, and today seems like one of those days where he might lash out if she pushes him. Since Sasuke lost his job, he has been frustrated. Sarada can tell, but she doesn't think it would be a bad idea.
After an awkward silence, Sasuke asks "How was your day?"
"Good. I started a new art project."
"That's good."
"Yeah." The awkward silence continues.
"...Sorry." Sarada looks up at her dad who has stopped walking. His face is turned away from her. "Sorry for shouting. I know your just excited since its your birthday."
Sarada doesn't respond at first. Sasuke starts to move again and is facing forward, still refusing to look at her. "I'm sorry too," she says. They continue to walk in silence again. Sasuke then moves the bag in his right hand to his left, and grabs Sarada's hand. This makes Sasuke and Sarada feel a little more at ease. The past couple days have been hard, but the light at the end of the tunnel is coming.
