Sasuke's POV

I got a call from the coffee shop a day after I filled out the application. I guess I was the only one who applied. I have an interview today. "Papa, don't wear that shirt." I look to the doorway and I see my dark haired daughter holding her mug that has a ladybug on a leaf. She actually painted it on.

"What's wrong with this shirt?" The shirt I'm wearing is a tan button up.

"It looks too tight on you! You used to be good at picking outfits!" Wow Sarada.

"Fine. I'll pick something else." I unbutton the shirt and put it back in the closet.

"Wear the light blue one with a dark blue tie." Sarada walks away after saying that. Light blue shirt huh? Well, the shirt hasn't gotten wrinkled yet, so it will probably be fine.

I think the interview went fine. It didn't last as long as I thought it would. That waitress wasn't there either, so all and all, it's been a good day. I should probably clean when I get home. Every time I breathe I swear I am breathing in more dust than oxygen. But first, I need to check my mail.

I finally reach the apartment complex. In the lobby there are all the mail compartments, and each has a separate key so no one steals your mail. I don't understand why someone would want to steal my mail. All the letters I get are bills, and letters from my mother. Speaking of letters from my mom, I got one today, and I also got one from my brother Itachi. However, they aren't for me, they're for Sarada. Birthday cards. There's one more envelope in my compartment. The electric bill. Fuck.

According to the bill. I need to pay this by the end of the week or I lose my electricity. God damn it! Will I be able to pay this off and still have groceries? Maybe I could ask my mother to cook for us like she did when my girlfriend first left. I don't even want to say her name. Maybe I should give her a call. I haven't talked to her in a while. I pull out my phone and search in my contacts. Here she is. I click on her contact and press call. The phone only rings once and I hear my mothers high pitched voice shouting, "SASUCAKES!" Damn too loud.

I pull the phone away from my face since the noise is too much. "Mom lower it down a bit!"

"Sorry honey." Her voice goes back down. "I haven't heard from you in such a long time! How are you?! How is Sarada?! Did she get our card?! I can't believe she is already eight years old! It seems like yesterday she was a baby!"

"We just got the card. Thank you for that. It has been a tough week, so I appreciate this."

"What happened, Sascakes?"

Should I tell her? She might lose it. My mother is normally the sweetest person ever, but if something happens to one of her sons, she gets scary. "I uh... lost my... I lost my job." I close my eyes ready for her to scream, but she doesn't.

It is silent for a moment when suddenly, "WHAT! THEY FIRED YOU?! I'M GONNA MARCH OVER TO THAT SMELLY ASS BUILDING AND GIVE THAT FAT ASS A PIECE OF MY MIND. DOESN'T HE KNOW YOU HAVE A KID?! DOES HE HAVE NO SYMPATHY? I SWEAR TO GOD-"

"MOM!"

She finally stops shouting and sighs. "I'm sorry. Are you able to pay your bills? Do you need some money dear? I can come over and-"

"No, I don't want your money. Besides, that wasn't part of the deal."

"Your father doesn't need to know. I won't tell him," she says. When I told my parents that I got my girlfriend pregnant, my father got pissed. He punched me in the face and went on and on about how much of an idiot and disappointment and how much of their money I wasted for college. He didn't want us to have the child. He wanted us to give it up. He said that a child born out of wedlock would destroy our family and its reputation. I always wondered what reputation he was talking about. Thanks to my mother and brother, we made a compromise. He will accept the fact that I am going to raise a child, he would call her his granddaughter, but I wasn't allowed to have any money from them. When Sarada was first born we were completely broke. I thought we might have to live on the streets, and even then, my father wouldn't allow my mother to give us any money. He would let us stay in their home either, but fortunately we weren't homeless and broke thanks to her parents.

"I don't want you to go behind Father's back. Don't worry about us. I just interviewed for a new job and I think it went well." My mom doesn't say anything. I can tell that she is contemplating what I said and deciding what to do next.

"Alright I won't give you money, but I am going to come over, and I am going to bring you guys a healthy dinner. I doubt you have learned how to cook. Besides, I really miss you two. It's been lonely here. Your father is constantly on business trips so I am always alone." There's no point in trying to fight her. Also, I wouldn't admit this out loud to her, but I miss her too.

As I am about to speak, my phone starts to ring again. Someone is trying to call me. I haven't seen this number before. "Mom, someone is trying to call me. I'll have to call you back."

"Don't bother calling me. I'll see you tonight. LOVE YOU!"

"Love you too." I hang up my conversation with her and pick up the other call. "Hello?"

The voice there is a young woman's voice. "Hello, is this Sasuke Uchiha?"

"Yes."

"Hello Sasuke. My name is Tenten. I work at Davis's Coffee Shop. I am pleased to inform you that you have been chosen for the position as the new waiter. When can you start?"

"...Tomorrow."

The Next Day

I look so stupid in this uniform. It looks just like the female uniform, but instead of a skirt it is black pants. I look like an idiot. When I got here I felt mixed feelings of anxiety, excitement, and tiredness. I was tired because I didn't get much sleep last night. My mother came over just like she said she would. In her hands when she entered was her special spicy shrimp and cauliflower dinner. She also spent the night, and she got my bed while I had to sleep on the couch. The couch isn't comfortable at all, and I think I slept on my back wrong, so I woke up with barely any hours of sleep and a sore back. Since Sarada doesn't have school today, my mother took her to the mall to do God knows what. Probably spoil her with random crap. Knowing Sarada though, she probably won't ask for a lot.

"Sasuke, are you in uniform now?"

"Yes." My new boss comes into the room. Charles Davis. Ironic how his last name is Davis, but he is not related to the original owner who named the restaurant.

"Good. This is the back room. You can put your stuff in this locker. This will be yours from now on. I place my clothes and phone into the locker. "Follow me."

We leave the back room and enter the dining area. "Sakura come here for a second." Sakura? I feel like I've heard that name before. Suddenly, a small woman in the uniform turns her head to us and starts to walk towards us. Oh no. Same soft pink locks. Same green piercing eyes. Oh shit. Sakura looks at my face and immediately notices who I am. She definitely remembers the awkward encounter. My throat starts to become dry. I try my best to avoid eye contact with her. "Sakura, this is Sasuke. he is our new waiter, and I want you to train him. Show him the ropes." So much for avoiding her.
