Sasuke's POV
"The chicken was very undercooked, I want a refund!"
"But ma'am, you already ate the whole meal."
"I don't care! I still want my refund!"
"I can't give you a refund, that's against our policy."
"You are ridiculous! If you think I'm going to pay for this meal then you're wrong!"
I wonder how much trouble I will get into if I smack my tray into her face. "Ma'am, I can't let you leave without paying. If the chicken was undercooked, you should have informed me earlier and I would have gladly gotten another one, but you already ate it, so unfortunately I can't."
"Where is your manager!? I want to speak with him!"
Calm down Sasuke. You need this job. "My boss is very busy right now, if I get him he will tell you the same thing I have."
"This is exactly what's wrong with you damn kids! You have absolutely no respect for your elders!"
How am I a kid? I'm not that young.
"I'm waiting." That's it. I'm done. Fuck this.
I leave that bitch at her table and go to , and just like I predicted, he comes out and says the exact same thing I did. The elder woman finally gives up and pays for the chicken, while leaving me two dollars as a tip. I'm too old for this shit.
I have been working here for about a month and I started actually waiting tables. It was fine at first, but then I soon learned what Sakura meant when she was coaching me. Some of these people are absolutely asses. Some of them will always complain about something, from the table sucking to the amount of ice cubes I put in a drink. Other customers will sometimes snap their fingers to get my attention, and if I don't respond right away, they snap their fingers even more aggressively, like that would help.
The people who work here aren't as bad as I thought. is a little weird but not a bad guy. This creepy waiter named Sai is always smiling like he has dirt on me, but everyone else is normal. Instead of sitting alone for lunch, Sakura would always tell me to sit with her and another waitress named Tenten. They normally talk about normal boring stuff like work, or girl things. I don't contribute to the conversations, but it's not bad.
Sakura is a kind person. I've learned quite a bit about her. I learned that she hates spicy food, She thinks red roses are cliche, and that she used to play tennis all through her childhood. I also discovered that she has two personalities. One is very light hearted and goofy, and the other is aggressive and tough. I haven't been seeing her goofy side a lot recently. Every now and then she would make a sarcastic joke, but she has been very quiet and pale looking recently. Tenten told me that apparently she broke up with her boyfriend, so I guess that's it. For some reason a part of me feels this need to cheer her up and to see that smile again.
After that woman left the restaurant, gave me another one of his speeches about how to treat customers. "You are probably too aggressive and cold to the customers. Try to work on melting that cold exterior away, okay?"
At this point, I don't care anymore, I just wanna go home. "Yes sir." I hear a giggle come from behind. When I turn around, I see Sakura leaning over the counter smirking at me. I give her a hostile look, and that makes her smirk even more. How annoying.
"So how has your day been Sasuke?" she says in a sarcastic and sweet tone. I walk behind and get myself some water.
"Shut up," I say as I take a sip.
Sakura giggles some more. "Don't worry, we're almost done, just thirty more minutes." Thank God. Just thirty more minutes, two tables left and both of them are almost ready for the check. Whatever you do God, please don't have another person walk through that door. Just as I say that, a family of five walks in. Son of a bitch.
"Good evening, how many in your party?" Sakura says.
"Just us five," says the tall big man with a huge dark beard whom I am assuming is the dad. The mother is a short, rounder middle aged woman with blonde hair, and there are three kids, who can't be older than Sarada. Sakura grabs two menus and three kid's menus. "Just follow me."
Sakura leads them to a booth in the back, which is not my table but Tenten's table. Thank you Sakura. She gives all of them a menu, says something, and walks to the back, most likely looking for Tenten.
A few minutes later she comes back out with Tenten following behind her at first, and then walking towards the booth with the family. I start cleaning the french presses to make it look like I'm actually working. "You thought I was going to put them at one of your tables didn't you?" Sakura asks as she sits on the counter.
"Not gonna lie, I thought I would have to end our acquaintanceship for a moment."
"Well lucky for you, I like you, if you were someone I disliked, then I would have probably done that." I place the french presses farther back on the table and face Sakura.
"That would be a bitchy move."
"You're not wrong, but whoever I hate would probably deserve it since I don't hate people so easily like others do, so if there is someone I hate, then there is a GOOD reason."
"Can't relate. People annoy me too much." I lean back on the table.
"I never said that people don't annoy me. People annoy me all the time, I just don't hate them."
"What about that guy who came in here last week. The one with twelve double chins. I saw you spit in his coffee before you gave it to him. Did you hate that guy?"
Sakura's face cringes when I mention that man. "He was a jerk, but I would just say he annoyed me."
I jokingly say, "I'm scared to learn what you would do to someone who you hate."
Sakura leans down and smirks at me. "If I were you, I would stay on my good side."
For some odd reason, I reply teasingly, "What if I don't want to?"
"Uhh guys... what are you doing?" Our time to ourselves disappears when Tenten comes over here. After she spoke, I realized how close my and Sakura's faces are to each other. We must have kept leaning in the more we talked.
I turn away from Sakura and move from behind the counter to go to the front, and Sakura gets off of it. "Nothing Tenten," Sakura says. "We were just talking. What's up?"
"I need herbal tea," she says. Sakura starts to get to work on it. I look at the clock and see that only ten minutes have passed. Felt a lot longer than that. I look over to the two tables and notice that one is done eating.
After Sakura gives Tenten the tea I come back to the counter to get that table's check. "I bet you will only get a 14% tip," Sakura smirks.
"Is that a challenge Haruno?"
"If you get a 14% tip or lower, you have to buy me garlic bread on our next shift."
"Fine, and if I get a 15% tip or higher... You have to take my shift this Sunday."
Sakura's face goes into shock and confusion. "Wait, that's not fai-" I don't let her finish. I just walk away with the check.
Our shift ends and Sakura and I go to the back room and collect our things. I ended up with a 15% tip, so Sakura has to take my shift on Sunday. She was not happy about it. Her face went all red. Her cheeks were puffed out and a pout formed on her lips. It was honestly really cute. "Oh!" Sakura says with realization. I turn to look at her and she is holding small slips of paper she got out of her locker. The papers have a lot of colors and words, but I can't make it out. "I totally forgot about these!"
"Forgot about what?" I walk over to her and lean on the lockers.
"These tickets. Tenten gave them to me. They are for her dad's amusement park, all day passes. They expire at the end of the month. That's in a couple of days."
I've seen this amusement park. It's brand new and huge. There are many rides and activities. There's even a whole big section that's a water park. I wanted to get some tickets for Sarada, but they sold out very quickly, and are far beyond my price range.
Sakura turns her head and starts staring at me as if she is thinking of something. "..." At this point, I am starting to get uncomfortable. I can feel my cheeks heating up.
"Sa-sakura?"
Sakura whips the tickets toward me. "Here, you can have them."
"What!?" I am in shock. Is she just going to give them away? Doesn't she know how expensive those are? Even if she doesn't want to go she could sell them online, but to give them to me for free? "Why?"
"I have no one I could go with, and it wouldn't be fun to go alone. I'm sure your daughter would love them. Has she been to an amusement park before?"
"No but-"
Sakura lifts my hand and places the tickets into it. "Then take it. They can replace me covering your shift."
As much as I would love to accept them, I can't. "Sakura, I can't."
"Why not. It's not a big deal. It's not like I paid for them."
"Still, it doesn't feel right. Besides, there are three tickets, and only me and Sarada."
"I'm sure you can think of someone to invite too. Why not invite one of Sarada's friends." I don't know any of Sarada's friends, She doesn't mention them. Suddenly, a crazy idea pops into my head, a very insane idea, and without thinking, I say it.
"Why not come with us?"
