Third Person's POV
The blond haired man tries to turn his body on the couch again to try to get comfortable and fall asleep again. Naruto can feel the throw up coming up through his throat, but tries his best to keep it down. Footsteps are heard coming from the hallway. Sasuke Uchiha walks out of the hallway and into the kitchen with his uniform on and a mug filled with steaming black coffee.
Naruto groans from the pain in his head, making Sasuke realize he is actually awake. "Morning idiot." Sasuke takes a sip of his coffee. Sasuke speaking causes another shot of pain in his head.
Naruto grabs his head from the extreme headache. "Shut uuuppp!" he groans.
Sasuke walks to the couch and kicks Naruto's leg that is hanging off it. "It's your own fault for drinking. Get up and take a shower. Sarada will be out here soon and I don't want her to see you like this."
Another groan escapes his mouth. "Alright alright." Naruto drags the lower part of his body off the couch, and touches the rug with his bare feet, making the blanket he had on fall to the floor as well. His elbows touches his knees and his face gets shoved into his hands. Noises of a toaster and heard in the back of his ear. He then hears more footsteps, a bit of noise, and more footsteps. Soon, he feels a presence standing next to him.
"Here." Naruto removes his hands from his face and sees a plate with two pieces of toast. "You'll feel better after you eat." The voice of his best friend is grouchy and rough, like always.
"Thanks." Naruto grabs the plate and doesn't hesitate to dig in. As he eats, questions climb into his head about exactly what happened. "How did I even get here last night?"
"You don't remember?"
"I only remember drinking with my work buddies. Everything else is blank."
Sasuke runs a hand through his hair, sighs and makes his way back to the kitchen. "I called you last night and brought you here when I realized it would be impossible to get you to your house."
"What time was it when you brought me here?"
Sasuke places another plate of toast with a glass of milk and a container of jelly. "Sometime past three."
Naruto squints up to the clock to see the time. 8:21 am. "God dammit. I'm going to be late for work...Wait... Why did you call me last night?" Sasuke stops cleaning his mug in the sink. Moments of last night pop into his head. Him not being able to sleep because of Sakura. Him talking to a snoring Naruto about Sakura. Basically, Sakura.
Sasuke clears his throat. "I remembered that I left something in your car from the time I borrowed it."
Naruto raises his eyebrow. "So... you call me... late at night," he says as if he is finishing Sasuke's sentence, but with uncertainty.
Sasuke continues to wash the mug. "Yeah."
The blue-eyed boy stands from the couch and walks over to the kitchen to place the plate in the sink. Sasuke then moves out of the way to let him. "Why were you up so late?" Naruto looks directly into Sasuke's eyes, trying to get the truth out of him.
'Should I tell him the truth?' Sasuke thinks. 'No, not right now. Besides, what I said was so embarrassing when he was asleep, I can't imagine how humiliating it would be to say those things when he is conscious.'
"Sarada had a nightmare."
The excuse Sasuke makes manages to convince Naruto. "Oh." Another shot of pain courses through his head. "Ahhh, do you have any Advil?"
Without looking up, Sasuke says, "Top cabinet to the right." Naruto goes to collect the medicine when faint steps are heard.
"Morning," A small girl's voice speaks. Sarada enters the room wearing another pair of long denim shorts, a long sleeved, light gray sweatshirt shirt, blue socks that stop right before her knees, and a golden moon necklace she got from her grandmother. Her hair is down and straight with no hair piece in it today, and her red glasses are clean.
"Good morning dear. There is toast and milk on the table for you." Sarada makes her way to the dinner table and takes a seat. She then grabs a piece of toast and the jelly, and scrapes some on it. "Why are you here Uncle Naruto?"
Naruto takes a couple of the Advil pills and says, "I slept over."
"Oh. I had no idea." Sarada takes a bite of her toast.
"Yeah, I didn't exactly plan it. What about you? Were you able to sleep after that nightmare?" Sarada shows a puzzled look to him.
"Wha-" Sasuke interrupts her sentence by coughing.
"Finish your breakfast Sarada. You have to get to school soon," Sasuke states. Sarada ignores the statement and finishes her breakfast. While Sarada makes her way to the sink, Naruto says.
"I'm gonna get going now. I won't bother you guys anymore. I'm going to be late to work."
Sarada places her dishes in the sink and exits the room to get her school bag. Sasuke continues to speak to his best friend. "You're going to work like that? Shouldn't you at least shower?"
Naruto responds with, "Oh, I'm not going directly to work. I'm going home first." Naruto leaves the kitchen and grabs his shoes to put on.
"Are you sure you're going to be fine getting back?" Sasuke puts the dirty rag he has been using to clean, folded on the counter.
"Yeah, I'll be okay. Thanks for the hospitality," Naruto says as he sits on the hardwood floor and slides the fancy black shoes. After completing that task, he rises, grabs his coat, and opens the door.
"Stop drinking during the week," Sasuke commands in a very serious tone.
Naruto chuckles. "Yeah yeah," and closes the door behind him.
Sakura's POV
Today is a perfect day for a day off. The sun is out. Barely any clouds. The grass is green. A perfect day for me to sit back in the sun and finish my mystery novel. "SAKURA!" I groan escapes my lips. Why?
"Yes?" No response. "Yes?!" For the love of God. "WHAT MOM?!"
"Don't you shout at me!" But you didn't respond.
"I'm sorry. What's up Mom?"
"I need you to clean the toilet in the downstairs bathroom. Your father clogged it." Oh god.
"Why can't he do it?!"
"SAKURA HARUNO GET YOUR ASS TO THE BATHROOM NOW!" I wail like I'm in pain, because soon, I'm about to be.
"FINE!" I roll off of the lawn chair and crawl my way to the kitchen to get the cleaning supplies and a face mask, leaving my beautiful mystery novel on the arm of the lawn chair.
When I get into the kitchen I grab the bleach, cloths, a face mask, gloves, a sponge, etc. I wish I was with Sasuke right now. Wait... what? What am I saying? Well, I do like to hang out with him, and his daughter too. She was so cute! And smart. She knows more about the solar system than I will ever know.
Sasuke is working today. I wonder when he will have lunch. "SAKURA!" A piercing screech that comes from my mother is heard from upstairs.
"I'm going!" I shout running to the bathroom with the face mask on and my hands full of supplies.
My bed has never felt this comfortable. After cleaning the toilet, my mother demands I clean the whole bathroom, then mow the lawn, and vacuum. If I refuse she claims that she will kick me out, which she is now allowed to do legally. The clock reads 8:41 pm. Sasuke should be home now. I grab my phone from my night stand and tap my texts. Sasuke appears after my friend Hinata. I click on his name and our text messages pop up.
There aren't a lot. Mostly just work related stuff. Some are also pictures of him, his daughter and me at the amusement park. My favorite one is with the three of us standing close together with the Ferris Wheel in the back round covered in colorful lights. Sarada is holding the stuffed elephant I gave her and she has the biggest smile on her face. The band-aids on her knees are very noticeable though. That kid. I chuckle remembering how cheerful and excited she was. She reminds me of myself when I was younger. Shy when you first meet me, but then electrified and jumpy, causing my clumsy ass to fall.
But what was so great about this picture wasn't the background, or the fact that Sarada reminds me of the innocent and naive me, but it is Sasuke. When I first started coaching Sasuke, I immediately knew that he doesn't show a cheerful side. He always looked angry, or possibly annoyed. To be honest, I thought he was a bit rude, and a little weird. However, now, looking at him in this picture, and remembering that night, that's not Sasuke at all. He is kind, and caring, and likes to tease a little. He has insecurities, like not being able to support his daughter as fully as he wants to. He's human, and not a statue.
The Sasuke in this picture isn't the same Sasuke I met at work. In the picture, he is smiling, not smirking, smiling. It's faint, but it's there, and it's soft. Smiling really fits with his face. I wish I got to see it more often.
Once I finish examining the picture again, I scroll to the bottom of our messages and click the texting bar.
Sakura: Hello!
After sending the message I feel myself start to panic. Should I have not used punctuation? Crap, will he think I'm annoying? I roll side to side in my bed anxiously waiting for a response. Well, at least he hasn't left me on read. Yet.
Maybe I should take a shower to avoid this. As I slide off my bed, the phone's screen turns black, and I place it face down on the nightstand.
Following my fifth teen minute shower, I walk back into my room wearing my light pink, red, and white plaid pj bottoms, and my long sleeved soft pink shirt with a cut strawberry on them. Kinda kid-like, but I don't care.
Sliding back into my comforter, I decide to see if he responded.
Sasuke: Hey
I bolt up from my pillow. He responded. A grin is plastered on my face as I text back.
Sakura: How was your day at work?
Sasuke: Boring as usual. Mr. Davis was extra annoying today, and I spilled coffee all over myself.
I find myself giggling.
Sakura: Aww, did it stain?
Sasuke: Yeah, now I have a huge ass brown stain on my white sleeve. I called my mother and she said she might be able to get it out.
After he responds, I feel a need to tease him.
Sakura: Awwww, you need your moooommmmy to clean your stain?
Sasuke: Shut up you
If it's even possible, a bigger smirk is on my face. I feel myself biting my lip.
Sasuke: Anyway, what did you do today?
Sakura: Clean
Sasuke: Sounds EXCITING!
Sakura: You have no idea. It all started when I sat outside in that beautiful sun, which I normally wouldn't enjoy, but ever since this winter, I have missed it. Anyway, I'm out there, about to find out who was the master killer, when all of a sudden, my mother shouts at me to clean the toilet, and my father had just exited the bathroom. I couldn't breathe.
Sasuke: Ouch. A perfect way to ruin a day.
Sakura: I know, and I really wanted to finish that novel. I will probably have to finish it by lunch tomorrow at work.
Sasuke: Does that mean I can't talk to you at lunch?
Sakura: Exactly. Better not hear one peep from you, Uchiha.
Sasuke: Can't guarantee anything
Before he and I knew it, it was past midnight and we were still texting. Even though both of us have to work tomorrow, I don't want to end the conversation, even if it messes up my sleep schedule. I can't remember the last time I texted someone for that long. Wait...
"Oh fuck."
