Chapter 6
She charged at him with full intent to kill.
The green lightning burst out from within Izuku as he prepared himself for the fight ahead of him. '35%'
She was on top of him now, swinging her foot down and aiming for his head, he raised both hands and caught her foot and then threw her to the right.
After being thrown she spun around while in the air and skidded to a stop. Wasting no time she leaped at him again and began swinging her right foot toward him.
Izuku barely managed to dodge the foot as it made its way for his head. Dodging downward he shot forward and slammed his fist into her stomach. But before she was sent away by the attack she threw another kick his way and it landed on his head.
Quickly recovering from the kick he turned to face his opponent only to see her already in the air above him right foot raised. She yelled as she brought it down toward the top of his head but before it could land a flash of black cut in.
Charon had just blocked Miruko's attack. Seeing who blocked her attack Miruko backed off.
Hermes ran over and grabbed Izuku's hand and began looking him over.
"Rumi's win!" Aphrodite announced.
"Woah, you okay Izuku?" Toga asked as she ran over to her friend.
"Yeah I'm just fine." Izuku said while smiling.
"You did well, kid. Definitely getting better." Miruko said as she grabbed a towel to wipe off the sweat she had built up.
Charon looked at Izuku and grunted. Izuku was unsure if that was a good thing.
"He means good job." Aphrodite said having seen Izuku's look of confusion.
Izuku smiled at this.
'5 months of training and I can already put up a decent fight against Miruko. Just how far am I gonna go' Izuku was quite happy with today's results.
Izuku walked away to get ready to head home.
Meanwhile, Aphrodite noticed that Toga looked a bit down and could guess why.
"You feel like you're being left behind by him, right?" Toga looked at her like she could read minds.
"Yeah." Toga replied while looking down.
"Don't worry, we both know the only reason why he's doing that well against Rumi is because of his analytic nature."
"I know that, but it still hurts knowing that I can't reach him anymore."
"You'll catch up, just give it time."
"Yeah, sure." Toga began walking away.
While the walk home used to be long it felt way more fun now that Toga was with him.
It had been 2 months since she began training with The Order. All Might was a good trainer but he wasn't exactly the best when it comes to weapons. So when the opportunity to train with a weapons master like Charon came up she couldn't pass it up at all.
Even so she still looked sad.
"Hey look, the sun is beautiful." Izuku mentioned as the sun tinted the sky a warm orange colour.
She looked up and the shine from the sky resonated within her eyes.
"Are you okay?"
She looked at him confused by the question.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Why?"
"Oh no reason." Izuku said, looking away.
He knew she was lying but couldn't say anything. If she didn't want to open up, he couldn't force her too.
They walked into Izuku's house only to be met by silence which was weird as Inko should've been home by now.
But the two teens thought nothing of it as it was often that she came home late.
Toga made dinner as per usual while Izuku called All Might and talked to him about today's training.
He was fine with the fact Toga had switched trainers as training someone and doing hero work with only 3 hours a day was difficult.
The rest of the night had been normal except for the fact Inko didn't come home.
Izuku decided to call her to see what was holding her up.
"Hello?" Her voice was rather calming to Izuku.
"Hey, how's work?"
"Oh Izuku, sorry work was busy today so I couldn't just leave."
"No no it's fine as long as you're okay."
"Yes honey, I'm fine. But I won't be home til late so just head to bed, okay?"
"Yeah okay, I will do. Talk to you tomorrow."
And like that the call was over.
Exhaust ran over him knowing his mother was safe.
He went to bed and passed out.
When he awoke it was 5 am.
He went and had a shower to wake himself up and when he left Toga was standing in the kitchen preparing breakfast for the two.
"Morning." Izuku greeted his friend.
"Hey, could you turn on the news?" Toga asked, barely taking her eyes off the food she was making.
Izuku grabbed the remote and pressed the power button.
And immediately a shout came from the TV.
"FIREBOLT!" The anime character shot fire out of his hand toward a minotaur.
Quickly switching it from anime Izuku put on the news only to be met by news about.
Him?
"So who do you think Miruko's sidekick is?" The news reporter asked the person she was interviewing.
"No clue. It could be anyone. There are no pictures of the young hero yet, The only thing we know is that his quirk involves green lightning somehow."
"He has to be quite strong for Miruko to take him in."
While Izuku did want to continue watching he had to eat his breakfast, so he walked away and left it playing in the background.
Izuku went over to the table and sat down preparing himself to eat.
Toga set the table for the two, they both began eating.
For the most part it was a normal breakfast, Izuku however was still worried.
Normally Inko would join them, but today she was nowhere to be seen.
Izuku stood up to check on her but was stopped by Toga.
"Let her rest, she didn't get back till late last night, she needs this."
Izuku looked at her. "Yeah, okay." And sat back down.
He knew she was right but it didn't stop him from worrying.
The rest of their morning was rather normal.
Izuku did his morning training and Toga joined him, they both got ready for school.
Izuku wanted to check on Inko before he left but decided against it, he didn't want to bother her.
The door slammed as they left the wind blowing through the house and opened Inko's door.
With the bed completely untouched.
After leaving Izuku got a text from Miruko.
"You see the news?"
"Yeah, it was about me."
"Good, just thought I'd check to make sure."
"Also I've decided I'm going to tell the world about you."
Izuku almost choked on air after reading that last text.
"Are you sure that's the right thing to do?"
"Yeah cause if I don't this news will just keep going till the media get involved with our private lives, and honestly I can't be fucked dealing with them."
"Yeah fair point."
As Izuku and Toga finally arrive at school, Izuku put away his phone due to a teacher standing in at the gate.
It had been 5 months since he got One for All but he hadn't told anyone that he has a quirk now.
I mean how do you explain to people that have known him his entire life that after 15 years he finally developed a quirk.
Surprisingly the rumours weren't about him today.
"You hear the news about Miruko's new sidekick."
At least not directly about him.
"I heard he's super strong."
"I heard he's super fast."
"Yeah well I heard he's cute."
Izuku blushed when he heard that last one.
They walked to their classroom just like any other day.
The day flew by. The rumours not dying down at all and keeping going strong all day.
And at last lunch time had started. Toga pulled her table over next to Izuku's to sit with him while they ate.
At least that was the plan.
Until the intercom sparked to life.
"This is not a drill, there is a villain attacking the school, everyone is to remain in their classroom until further notice. I repeat-"
The announcement played again as the teacher ran over to the door and locked it.
Many students ran over to the windows to see a man holding a megaphone and a gun, pointing the gun at a hostage he had.
There were other people all in swat gear standing next to the man.
The static roared out as the man put the megaphone to his mouth.
"Hello, hello students of Aldera Junior High. This is The League of Villains. This entire building is now under my control. And if anyone should step out of line then this fine lady will have her brains splattered all over the ground of this fine institution."
The man removed the covering around the woman's head.
Bakugo's words sent a chill down the spine of Toga and Izuku. "Auntie Inko!"
Izuku, not near the window, shot to action when he heard Bakugo's words.
He ran over to see if Bakugo was bullshiting, but wanted to cry when he saw Bakugo was being serious.
His mother stood out there as a hostage.
And he could do nothing to help her.
"So here's how this is gonna work. My men will come to each of your classrooms and collect you to bring down here. Anyone that tries to escape will be shot. The stairs will be blocked by two of my men. While two other men will go to the classrooms so running isn't an option. All clear, good!"
Bakugo stormed over to the door and was about to unlock it and leave but was stopped by.
Izuku. "Please. Don't." Izuku said while tears edged at the end of his eyes.
Bakugo stopped. And scoffed. "Fine. But I'm not doing this for you." He backed off.
It felt like an eternity as they all waited for their death to come knocking.
Some students phoned their parents, others broke down and cried their hearts out.
Everything went silent as Izuku's phone rang.
Izuku looked at his phone and saw it was Yumi.
Quickly he picked up the phone.
"Hey are you alright Izuku?" Yumi quickly said as he picked up.
"Yeah I'm fine, so is everyone in my class. They haven't made it here yet."
"Thank god." The sound of wind rushed through the phone.
"Hey kid, I need your help." Miruko said having taken the phone from Yumi.
"With what?" Izuku said rather sadly.
"I need you to protect everyone in your class." Miruko said with full seriousness in her voice.
"Yeah I can do that. But I want to take down that guy." Izuku said, looking out the window staring at the guy holding his mother hostage.
"Yeah I can agree to that. Put your teacher on the phone."
Izuku walked over to his teacher.
"Miruko would like to talk to you." Izuku said nonchalantly.
Everyone in the room looked at him like he was crazy.
The teacher took the phone.
She said something to him then he put the phone on speaker.
"Okay, you're on speaker."
"Alright, good. Hey everyone I need you to listen to me if you want to get out alive."
Some of the students began crying thinking they had hope.
Others were smiling from ear to ear.
"Listen to everything Izuku says."
They looked as though they were doomed.
Bakugo was the first to speak up.
"Why the hell would I listen to him!"
"Izuku tell them."
"I'm Miruko's sidekick."
Looks of shock came over his students.
Bakugo looked over to Toga. She noticed this and looked at him and nodded.
"But you don't even have a quirk?" One of the students spoke out.
"I gained one recently."
"Does everyone remember the sludge villain incident? That's when I awakened my quirk."
Everyone looked more shocked. Not only did Izuku have a quirk and was MIruko's sidekick. He had been hiding it for the last 5 months.
"With that over. I grant Izuku Midoriya the permissions of a pro hero. Protect them, please."
"You got it."
The call ended.
"All right, I have a plan."
As the terrorists entered the third floor of the school they spilt off into groups of 2 like they had the other floors.
They approached the first door on their right and forced all the students down the stairs and out onto the front of the school with all the other students.
The second classroom went just as easy.
As they arrived at the third classroom they opened the door and saw all the students backed into a corner with their teacher standing in front.
They both walked into the room only to hear a boom come from their right.
The one in front was taken out by a blond teen with his hands popping.
The one in the back pulled his gun up and pointed it at the popping teen, only to be hit by a force coming from his left.
He looked up and saw a teen with green lightning flowing all around him.
"Good work Bakugo." Izuku said with a smile on his face.
Toga ran over and took the body armour off one of the bodies, and put it on.
Then she sank her teeth into the guy.
After about 30 seconds she released him and sludge appeared all around her body.
The man smiled at Izuku.
"All right go out and get the attention of the guards at the stairs, then I'll rush them and take them down."
As Toga was about to walk out she turned around.
She began walking toward her bag and took out a switchblade.
The teacher looked at her rage filling his face. But he didn't say anything.
Toga walked out and toward the 2 guards.
"Where are the students?" One of the guards asked.
"I don't know, they weren't in the class." Toga replied, trying her best not to break character.
"Okay well where is Gādo?"
'That must be the other guard."
"He's still checking the room, even though I told him they're gone."
Seeing her opportunity she went.
"Hey wait, I see one!" She yelled.
They both turned their heads to look.
And when they did, a rush of green lightning bolted down the hallway.
Izuku slammed into the one on the outer side.
Quickly he turned and kicked the other in the head.
The first one he took down was still conscious.
Toga took his radio off him, and knocked him out.
Walking down the stairs to go to the second floor Izuku looked out one of the windows and saw all the students lined up with his mum in the center.
"What are you going to do?" Bakugo said as he walked in rather calmly.
"I don't know yet." Izuku said, not taking his eyes off his mum.
He wanted nothing more than to jump from this building and attack the man.
But didn't, he made a promise to protect his classmates and until they were safe he was going to hold back on his rage.
Quickly he returned to his classroom, making a plan to take down that guy and keep his classmates safe.
After a few minutes of waiting, one of the guards walked out with a green haired teen in tow.
"Izuku!" Inko yelled and panicked while seeing her son at gun point.
"Where the hell are the rest of them?" The man with the gun to Inko's back questioned.
"They escaped through one of the back windows."
The man looked at the two for a few seconds before laughing.
"All right, that was pretty funny, but you can cut the shit now." The man's tone went dark.
"I don't know what you're talking about, sir." The guard said.
"I said cut the shit! Before I blow this woman's brains out."
After a few seconds of standing doing nothing. The guard took off the helmet, and sludge began falling.
The two teens were now standing right in front of the man.
"So you two are the one who took out my lackeys, nice job for some teenagers. Oh where are my manners? The name's Ju Kontororu. But you can call me Ju."
Izuku looked at the man with nothing but hatred pouring out of him.
Ju noticed this and smiled, "You don't seem to like me very much, any reason for this." Ju said, pointing his gun at the verdant teen.
Izuku didn't say anything but just looked at the man.
The green lightning began flowing around Izuku as he did so.
"Hey hey I wouldn't do that if I were you." Ju said, now pointing the gun back at Inko.
"We both know you won't shoot her."
"Oh, and why's that?"
"Because the amount of time it would take to get to another hostage is enough for a pro hero to catch you." Izuku said, with all the confidence in the world.
He was right and Ju knew it. He smiled as he stared at the teen.
"You're a pretty funny kid. How would you feel about joining The League of Villains?"
"Go to hell." Izuku flatly stated.
"Well don't say I didn't try." The man said before quickly changing where he aimed the gun.
BANG a bullet was shooting its way toward the teen.
But Izuku could see it, One for All was enhancing his entire body. Using this enhancement he dodged the bullet.
"Oh we got a fast one here."
Izuku didn't say anything, just stared at the man.
"I see why Yahan is so interested in you."
"Toga, get everyone out of here."
"What about you?"
"I'll deal with him."
Izuku stepped forward as the lightning around him intensified.
Ju cocked back his magnum as he prepared to fire again. He took aim and activated his quirk, then he fired.
Izuku could tell something was different, the bullet moved faster compared to before but still not fast enough Izuku dodged it.
Ju clicked his tongue, and aimed his gun again, and fired.
Izuku went to dodge but couldn't see the bullet, until he heard a scream.
He turned his head and saw his mum had been hit in the leg. Everything went red just like when he was a kid, the lightning around him turned black as he shot toward the villain.
Ju shot another bullet at the teen but Izuku dodged under it, closing his right hand into a fist he shot up doing an uppercut into the man's wrist.
The gun flew into the air as time seemed to stand still, the gun landed. Followed by a blood curdling scream.
The scream broke Izuku out of his trance, he looked up to see Ju's ulna sticking out of his wrist.
Before Izuku could do anything, Miruko landed in front of him.
"Get over to the rest of the students kid, I'll handle this."
Izuku couldn't say anything to her and just walked over to his mum to help her over to the students.
But before he could get to the other students he was stopped by the police to give a statement.
It had been a few days since then and Izuku was getting ready to go to the press conference.
Due to what happened news reporters have been wondering if giving civilians permission to use their quirks should be illegal.
As Izuku bagan approaching the stage he was stopped by Miruko who grabbed hold of his jacket.
"Remember kid, let me do the talking." She said in a rather calm tone and a somber look on her face.
They walked out into the flashing lights and cameras.
All these eyes on him were intense. Izuku could practically feel the pressure from their eyes.
As they arrived at the center of the stage the flashing lights took a small break as they weren't saying anything.
They stared at the reporters for what felt like forever. Before they both bowed.
"I would like to start by saying sorry for the actions of my sidekick."
Izuku was a little taken aback by this, he had never heard her sound this formal in his life.
"All responsibility for the man's injury lies solely on my head. He is my sidekick. I should have been more careful while training him. And for that, I'm sorry."
'She's dragging herself through the mud to protect me.' Izuku thought while fully regretting his actions.
He had no intention of doing that to the man but after his mum was shot he was filled with rage. And he couldn't control it.
And yet she was taking the blame for it.
"I will now be taking questions." As Izuku was deep in thought about everything Miruko had kept talking but Izuku blanked at.
"Miss Miruko, can we get the details on your sidekick?" A reporter near the front said. It made sense the first question was about him, this was also supposed to be his official announcement after all.
"Yes, his name is Izuku Midoriya, he's 15 years old."
Once again Izuku blanked everything as his eyes caught someone in the crowd. She had long silky black hair with a massive grin on her face. But it was her eyes above all else that drew him in. Her eyes were pitch black with small white dots scattering them. They looked like the night sky.
He stared at her for at least a minute before she waved and walked away.
"His goal is to get into UA and I wish to help him with that, which is why I'm training him."
Snapping back to reality he looked toward the reporters as they asked one last question.
"Midoriya, why do you want to become a hero?"
Izuku looked out at the crowd as his face suddenly turned serious. "I've always wanted to help people even when I couldn't. It was always a dream of mine, so I want to become a hero that shines as brightly as All Might. One that when you see you feel safe. One that always smiles no matter what he faces. One that can save everyone regardless of who they are or what they've done." He said holding none of his dreams back.
"Well I for one support that!" All eyes turned to the girl that Izuku was looking at before.
"Yeah!" Another reporter shouted.
It wasn't long before the room erupted into shouts of encouragement.
As the room died down Miruko spoke up again. "Now onto my second announcement, I have a second sidekick." The flashing lights began up again.
"She isn't here today but her name is Himiko Toga. She's 15 years old as well. In fact she and Izuku are childhood friends."
Quickly after that the press conference wrapped up. There was a myriad of mixed reactions about it.
Bakugo scoffed at his tv while watching the press conference with his parents.
A certain black haired teen watching feels more motivated to get as strong as he can.
In a dark lab a man watched with curiosity flowing from him. "So he's the next user of One for All. I hope he puts up a good fight."
The star eyed teen watched it in person all while wondering. 'When will I get to fight him~'
Izuku walked out into a hallway outside the waiting room, he had to talk to Miruko about something.
As he made his way over to where she was, he bumped into someone instantly he apologised and looked up at the person.
Only to realise it was Miruko.
"Hey, I need to talk to you."
"I need to tell you something."
They both said at the same time before they both made their way to the rooftop.
"Um, you can go first." Izuku said, scratching the back of his green head.
She looked at him and began. "We need to talk about your quirk. It's too powerful."
Izuku was taken aback by this, he thought that she would tell him she didn't want to help him anymore.
"You need to learn to hold back especially against weaklings like that guy."
"Yes, Ma'am." Izuku said.
"Now what did you want to talk about?" Miruko followed up.
Izuku suddenly remembered why he wanted to talk to her in the first place.
"Yeah about that, I'll haven't been fully honest with you." Izuku admitted.
Miruko looked at him but didn't say anything, letting him continue his talk.
"My quirk, it isn't mine. It was passed onto me by someone else."
Silence filled the air. Before Miruko began laughing.
"C'mon man I know we've had a bad day but that's too much." However Izuku didn't look like he was joking.
Upon noticing this Miruko stopped laughing.
"You're being serious."
"My quirk is called One for All. It's a power passed down from person to person. Getting stronger as it goes."
"Wow that's a lot to unpack isn't it."
"I'm sorry to jump this on you but I had to be honest with you. I feel like you deserve that much at least."
"Is it okay if I ask a question?"
"Anything."
"You said it was passed down to you. So who was the previous user?"
Izuku swallowed, he knew he had to tell her but that didn't make it any easier. "All Might."
Her eyes widened a little. But then she smiled. "Well that's two things I'm at least somewhat glad about. The big man isn't some natural born hero. If quirks could be as strong as his, I was worried about the future. And that the power wasn't handed off to some villain or something. I'm glad it was you who got it."
Izuku smiled as tears welled up in his eyes, he wasn't expecting it to be that easy.
As they began making their way over to the door Miruko had to ask one more question. "So who else knows?"
"You, Me, All Might, Toga and somehow Charon I think."
"Wait how the hell does Charon know?"
"When we first met after the fight he looked at me and said One for All. So I think he knows but I don't know for sure."
"Great." Miruko said with a sigh.
Author's note
Hey everyone this chapter had a lot of stuff huh.
Anyway I hope you enjoyed this chapter and I have a promise. The next chapter will be out by the new year. (I hope I'm gonna try my hardest to not break this promise)
2 More things before I end this chapter. I'm announcing a second fanfic that I don't know when it will be out or how consistent it will be updated but The Shadow's Light will be my main focus.
Last thing I want to know is what you guys think of the OC characters. I've been trying pretty hard with some of them like Ju for example. It isn't said anyway but his quirk is gun control.
Thank you all for reading, favoriting, following and reviewing. See you next chapter.
