Chapter 121: The Miracle of Hermos

"I activate a Magic Card from my hand." Jonouchi continued. "'Monster Reborn'. I'll revive 'The Fiend Megacyber'."

"That's useless." Mai snapped. "You should know that Megacyber, with only 2200 Attack Points, stands no chance against my 'Harpie's Pet Dragon'."

"No, I'll bet on this." Jonouchi smirked. "Also, I Summon 'Time Wizard' in Attack Mode. And I activate 'The Claw of Hermos'. Come forth, Hermos. Hermos can transform into an Equipment Card for any Monster on the field." absorbing 'Time Wizard', 'The Claw of Hermos' took on the form of 'Time Magic Hammer'. "I equip 'Time Magic Hammer' with Megacyber."

"'"Harpie Lady Sparrow Formation'." Mai reacted. "This way, even if Megacyber's is lifted, the attack damage is zero."

Megacyber slammed the 'Time Magic Hammer' on the ground, opening a hole and four illuminated numbers were attached to each of Mai's Monsters' foreheads.

"My turn is over." Jonouchi had no choice but to end his turn.

"Are you making fun of me, Jonouchi?" Mai barked. "So, in the end, you really aren't going to fight me seriously. Let's end this already. I'll end this ridiculous duel right this instant. My turn."

The moment Mai drew her Card, the hole on the ground started sucking in her Monsters.

"What's going on?" Jonouchi was stunned.

"What happened to my Harpies?" Mai demanded.

"I don't know either." Jonouchi protested.

"I set one Card." Mai snarled. "Turn over."

"My turn." Jonouchi took his turn. "Megacyber, direct attack Mai. I'll set one Card face-down. Turn over."

"My turn." Mai glared. Just then, 'Harpie's Pet Dragon' returned to the field after she drew her Card. "'Harpie's Pet Dragon', attack Megacyber."

"Reverse Card, open." Jonouchi countered. "'Skull Dice'. This Card reduces the enemy Monster's Attack by the amount rolled on the dice. The Attack Points of 'Harpie's Pet Dragon' is reduced by half." he noted, the red dice showed a 'two'.

At that point, Valon jumped off the ledge and activated his Orichalcos shard. "Shard of Orichalcos, release your power." he slammed his fist on 'The Seal of Orichalcos' and breaking the barrier, the shockwave sending everyone backwards.

"That was far too reckless." Rafael chided, Valon who holding the unconscious Mai in his arms. "Even if the Orichalcos protects us, if we try to release the boundary against its will, it may no longer shield our lives."

"Even so, I can't let her continue like this." Valon remarked.

"The next time we meet, I'll be taking your soul, O Great Nameless Pharaoh." Rafael declared. Activating his own Orichalcos shard, he teleported his comrades off.

"Jonouchi!" Honda hurried over, just as Otogi released the locked gates.

"What happened to Mai?" Jonouchi asked, clearing his head.

"They disappeared." Honda looked away.

"Why, Mai?" Jonouchi hissed.

"Jonouchi, don't you get it?" Honda chided. "Mai betrayed us. She went to our enemy. You saw it. Mai, she really fought Jonouchi in order to steal his soul."

"Well, look who decide to join the party." Ami joked, the Kaiba brothers entering the foyer.

"Kaiba." Yami Yuugi blinked.

"Jonouchi, guys." Mokuba started.

"Yuugi." Otogi ran in.

"Even Otogi." Mokuba gaped. "Why are you guys here?"

"Pegasus called us here." Yami Yuugi explained.

"Is Pegasus okay?" Kaiba asked.

"When we got here, he already..." Yami Yuugi shook his head.

"It seems Kujaku Mai joined forces with Doma and stole Pegasus' soul." Honda supplied.

"Did you say Doma?" Kaiba echoed.

"Kaiba, do you know about Doma, too?" Yami Yuugi questioned.

"Nii-sama just fought a guy from Doma called Amelda." Mokuba replied. "The guy impersonated Pegasus and set nii-sama into a trap."

"We pretty much took each other out." Kaiba added.

"I see." Yami Yuugi nodded. "That's why you came here."

"Looks like we were all called here by Pegasus, relating to the same incident." Kaiba concluded.

"Pegasus must have left some clues for us." Yami Yuugi pulled out the 'Illusion's Key' Card.

"Yuugi, now that you mention it, there was one room I couldn't unlock." Otogi recalled.

"Take us there." Kaiba instructed.

In front of the side door in Pegasus' office...

"It's too dark to see anything." Honda noted, after the door opened.

"It could be a trap Doma set up." Jonouchi suggested. "What's all this?" he looked around, both Kaiba brothers entering the room and setting off the lights.

"This room looks like a giant toy box." Honda blinked.

"I can't be the only one getting Duelist Kingdom vibes, right?" Ami asked.

"You aren't the only one." Kaiba growled. "This really pisses me off. What horridly bad taste he has. This is Solid Vision/" he blinked when an image of Pegasus appeared in front of them.

"Yuugi-boy, welcome to my private room." image-Pegasus started. "This room is the dreamland I hold deep within my heart. However, Yuugi-boy, if you are listening to this message, in all probability, I am no longer safe. I anticipated this. Our company has already been taken over by another. This organization is an underground secretive company that has rumored to rival even the American supremacy in its brilliance and its influence: Doma. Doma is said to act from the shadows, pulling the strings for thousands of years as the cause of a multitude of financial changes throughout the world. You all should have learned this from the textbooks: the thriving reign of the Roman Empire and its sudden downfall. A mere historical repetition? Who was truly responsible for providing the winning side with their weapons during the sailing age? Civil wars: was it truly the cause of civilians randomly rebelling against the government? Who was the one to bring the infamous Napoleon to power? The Industrial Revolution that began rising throughout cultures all over the world, as well as the Renaissance of the 17th century. Who was the one pulling strings during all of these world events from the shadows? I do have have any evidence, because everyone who knew the real truth were all slaughtered in history's darkest ages. But I confirmed this: they have been involved in the world's deepest history. That same Doma has begun to move again. They are using the power of the Duel Monsters I created. Furthermore, they are aiming for something much larger this time. They are plotting something far more evil this time. Yuugi-boy, it is because I wanted to tell you this that I have called you here. And I hope it is something you can accept. Hidden within this room is a new Card I have created. In truth, I wanted to hand it to you personally, but it cannot be helped. You will have to find it yourself."

"'Pot of Greed'." Yami Yuugi instantly spotted the pot. "This is the only thing not related to the world of Toon World."

"This is strange." Honda pulled out a blank Card. "Nothing's written on it. It's not even complete yet, right?"

"A nameless Card?" Yami Yuugi frowned.

"Yuugi-boy, I beg you." image-Pegasus pleaded. "Please save my cute Monsters. I believe you, Yuugi-boy. You're the only one who can do so."

"What the hell?" Jonouchi fumed after image-Pegasus disappeared. "I don't get it. An underground organization that's been around for thousands of years? Why would Mai work with these kind of people?"

"Doma is close to us." Kaiba started. "I remember, Gozaburo once said 'There must be a darkness within the world economy controlling its capital from the shadows.' I never took them seriously, brushing them off as the heroic words of a coward, but... Yuugi, no matter how you struggle, these are opponents you can't reach."

"Are you sure about that, Kaiba?" Yami Yuugi corrected. "Maybe I can't touch a huge enemy by myself, but..." he pulled out 'The Eye of Timaeus'.

"'The Claw of Hermos'." Jonouchi pulled out his new Card.

"Kaiba, do you also have a Card like this?" Yami Yuugi asked.

"'The Fang of Critias'." Kaiba drew his new Card.

"If the three of us combine our power, we might be able to defeat Doma." Yami Yuugi realized. "Didn't the Card tell you that?"
