Not gonna lie, not happy with this chapter. Then again, I'm not happy with a fair amount of this story, looking at it. Let's just get through this.
"How do you know about the Death Battles!?" Goku demanded, seeing Zamas and Goku Rosé standing before them.
"An old man arrived with them, looking for Bulma Briefs. This timeline's Bulma Briefs." Rose explained. "Claiming that she could learn from them. Well, she didn't learn enough, and she died within seconds. They were very interesting… and since none of you ever succeeded in your battles, it was easy to learn from the victors, and figure out how to win…"
"Wait, that makes no sense! Vegeta, you WON in your battle against Shadow!"
"I know, Kakarot! I was there!"
"It's an alternate timeline!" Future Trunks exclaimed. "Like the theory says, a butterflies wing beat can change the world! Somehow, in this timeline, you lost your fight!"
"The hell I did!" Vegeta snarled, refusing to believe this. He was Vegeta! Prince of all Sayians! He gave no quarter, showed no fear, and sure as hell wasn't about to lose to some wanna-be body thief! If Kakarot was ever going to beat him "WHICH HE ISN'T" Vegeta thought angrily, then it was going to be the REAL one. Not this… joke.
"Let's go."
The battle was ferocious, blows landing and-
Nothing.
"Why is there nothing there?! It looks like pages are missing!"
"That ain't my fault! Someone ripped the pages outta the tome!" Skorch growled, annoyed.
"Meaning?!" Chi-Chi asked, concerned.
"It means that certain parts of whatever events we are looking at would simply no longer exist." Guy frowned, knowing the rules of the library rather well. "They've happened, but they weren't recorded. At least not here… I can only hope things turn out for the best for them."
"Crap!"
"OH, C'MON!" Bulma screamed at the new sight. "THEY FUSED?!"
Indeed, they did. The trio of Sayians stood and looked on in disgust at the… thing standing before them. It was purple and green, and it seemed so inhumanely twisted, almost demonic! Trunks gripped his sword, and Vegeta scowled, something was missing…
"Where the hell is it-" Vegeta muttered, only for a flash to appear from the sky. Something came flying downwards, and it was impossible to explain what it was… it seemed like a ball of letters mixed with a series of incantations all wrapped up in some sort of chaotic energy. The ball made a bee-line for Trunks… and latched itself onto his sword.
"Hey!" Trunks exclaimed I shock, as the sword was ripped from his hands, and then flew towards the merged monster. The sword went clean through the fused monster, making the Zamasu' scream in pain before it landed blade-first in the ground before Trunks. Not wasting any time, the Time Traveling Sayian grabbed it… and felt an explosion of power bloom within his very core. It was as if someone, or something had grabbed onto his very soul, and was now pumping it full of adrenaline, determination, strength… as well as feelings he couldn't begin to explain. He felt unstoppable! He felt like this battle was over, because he had won.
"About… damn… time…" Vegeta huffed, trying to catch his breath.
Trunks looked at the sword, and noticed it seemed… stronger, and there were markings on it, as if some sort of ancient tribal langauge was inscribed on it.
"I had the Entity forge that power." Vegeta admitted. "We… we did something more to it. When he created that incantation, he added inscriptions to it, powered by the souls of warriors. He needed blood, the blood of myself, and your mother. Let the sword be a final reminder of who you are. So, no matter where you are, no matter what time you land in, you will never truly be alone. You wield the power of the Sayians, and of a Watcher."
"He what?! What did you have to challenge him on to get him to do that?!" Goku exclaimed, shocked.
"Wait, so THAT was why he hit me?!" Bulma asked, remembering how out-of-character it had been for the Watcher to run in and punch her that one time.
"More than you know." Vegeta cryptically answered.
Trunks was silent for a second, and then moved with a ferocity and tenacity of a true Sayian. He was fighting for his family, for those he loved, for those he lost. His Mother, his friends, Gohan…
"THEY'RE GONE BECAUSE OF YOU!" Future Trunks roared as he shot forward again, driving the sword into the monsters' gut, and then viciously cutting upwards. "I'LL SEE YOU IN HELL!" Future Trunks screamed as he rocketed into the air, and then dove the blade downwards, slicing Zamasu in half, causing the two halves of the beast to split apart and dangle in different directions. They both screamed as the power of the Sayians, embowed with the power of a Watcher, burned them.
"NO! THIS ISN'T HOW IT WAS SUPPOSED TO GO!" Zamas shouted, as the energy and power was forcefully pulled from his body.
"That's it! Vegeta-"
"I KNOW! LET'S KILL HIS SORRY ASS!" Vegeta roared, powering up and attack with an energy that didn't feel like Ki, the coloring was red, it felt like it was powered by hatred… However, with everything else happening right now, no one questioned it. Vegeta hit Rosé before Goku even got there.
SchPluT!
Zamas gasped in shock and pain, before slowly looking down, and seeing the fist going through his chest.
"No more." Vegeta growled, ripping his arm back and pulling… a lot out. "No more of you."
But there was more. So, SO much more…
(You all know the drill by this point, you've seen the anime or manga, I don't have the energy to write this out, sorry.)
"He's… EVERYWHERE…"
"He did it. He actually did it." Vegeta muttered, sounding almost impressed. "He fused with reality itself…"
The faces of Zamasu laughed at them, while an army of clones approached all laughing menacingly. Even with Trunks' sword, they knew they weren't gonna be able to stop them. Vegeta gave the order for trunks to run, and despite his better judgment, he grabbed Mai and ran for the time machine.
"Kakarot. Do you have any Senzu's left?" Vegeta growled, battered and bruised. Goku felt for one, and then blinked in realization. He pulled a small button out from his Gi, and looked at it in surprise.
"…you'll know what to do…" Goku said quietly, then pushed the button. He was beginning to realize what the riddle had been hinting at, and this seemed insane! But at the same time, he didn't really care. There was a good chance they weren't getting back home after this, so he may as well shoot for the wall and hope it works.
"We need to go, now!" Future Trunks protested. Bulma didn't want to leave her husband or fried behind, but knew they may not have a choice. Zamas couldn't be allowed to escape into their timeline…
"I will hold them off." The T-800 said, blasting another Zamas with his plasma rifle. Ever since getting here, he had assisted Bulma with re-charging the battery for the time machine, and then just started blasting away at Zamas and Black.
"You'll be destroyed!" Bulma protested.
"I was re-programmed to protect the ones known as 'Mai' and 'Trunks', as well as kill the one known as Goku Black." The T-800 said, seeming somewhat quiet, as if it had accepted an unknown fate. "If I do not do this, I will fail in my mission."
"…thank you…" Bulma quietly said. She wasn't sure why this upset her. Maybe because she'd lose access to technology she had never dreamed of? Or maybe because it was someone willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. Or maybe the author was tired.
"TRUNKS! WE'RE COMING WITH YOU!" Goku shouted as he and Vegeta began the mad dash towards the time machine. As the machine took off, the T-800 looked up and gave them a thumbs up as he looked back to where the suddenly arrived Omni-King was charging some sort of power, a power which was causing Zamas' to run for their eternal lives, but it was no good.
"Let this world… DISSAPEAR!" The Omni-King demanded as the time machine disappeared… and everything was gone.
One chapter left, and this arc is over.
Goku Black will be back though…
I had more I wanted to do with Black, but I'll save it for Ashes From The Trash. I wanna move onto what people actually WANT. I'm sorry this isn't better, but if I kept trying to write this damn chapter, I was gonna ditch this story for a good long while. If it feels like 'Wow, the author did't try in this one…' I didn't, I'm sorry. I just can't. I don't know why, and I can't just sit here, either.
Next battle is super short (Zits v Leo or something, IDK), then it's a good one… about a man who cures cancer with his tears. Too bad he's never cried.
Oh, and expect some POWERFUL beings to be watching that one!
