Chapter 2

It'd been two years since Law last saw Luffy, and, he had to admit, he was nervous; It seemed Luffy may not be quite the devil Law thought he was. Their pirate alliance was still in it's infant stages, but this was already becoming increasingly clear. Luffy's arrival on Punk Hazard had been incredibly lucky for Law. Everything he needed for his long awaited revenge against Doflamingo had fallen into his lap. He had Caesar Clown to use as a bargaining chip, as well as the Straw Hat Pirates to use as useful soldiers. The Straw Hats were turning out to be anything but useful though. They were loud and chaotic, none of them seemed to understand the dire situation they were in, and nobody was worse than their idiotic captain.

Luffy was constantly getting on Law's nerves. He was always grabbing onto Law in the most innocuous of ways, but they still managed to piss him off. Luffy would slump against Law when they sat next to each other, he would pat his back whenever Law said anything the other found amusing, and, whenever Luffy wanted Law to follow him, he would grab his hand to drag him along. It just made him want to scream: I CAN FOLLOW YOU WITHOUT YOU TUGGING ON MY WRIST!

Luffy treated Law like a scab to be picked at, and boy did Luffy pick. Luckily, Law had noticed that Zoro frequently napped on the deck of the ship, and nobody seemed to bother him there. So, Law positioned himself on the side opposite to Zoro and leaned up against the edge. Law closed his eyes and tried to feign sleeping. Of course, sleep was something that never came easy to Law, but he figured he would have to at least pretend if he truly wanted to be left alone. This only seemed to work for about five minutes before he felt a familiar set of fingers grabbing at his arm. Law continued his ruse, hoping Luffy would simply leave him alone once he completed whatever task he'd set his mind to. He even kept up his act when Luffy rolled up the sleeve of his shirt to expose his bare arm, but when Luffy started to tug the hem of his shirt up, Law had to call it quits. He opened his eyes and was faced with just how close Luffy had gotten to him. His hair was nearly tickling Law's nose as he inspected the exposed skin of his stomach and lower chest. A quick rush of blood flooded Law's face. Just exactly what was Luffy doing?

Suddenly, Luffy turned his head up and met Law's embarrassed gaze. His cheeks only grew redder now that their faces were mere inches apart, and their noses were practically touching. Luffy let out a startled noise and scurried back from Law.

"Ack, I thought you were sleeping!" Luffy exclaimed. Apparently Law's plan had backfired completely. It had only given Luffy the opportunity to touch him more than usual.

Law clutched his shirt, "And just what exactly were you doing?" He stammered.

"I just wanted to look at your tattoos," Luffy whined.

"And how much of me were you going to expose on your hunt?" This caused both of them to blush.

"Sorry. Zoro's a heavy sleeper, I'm not used to people waking up that easily."

Law looked past Luffy towards Zoro who, thankfully, was still fast asleep. Law didn't want anyone else to have witnessed this situation. Luffy threw himself down onto the ground and sat cross legged in front of Law. He looked into the other's eyes waiting for him to say something.

"What now?" Law groaned after a moment of silence.

"We should talk," Luffy told him. "We're friends now."

"We're not friends," Law groaned. "We're allies, and just because we're allies doesn't mean we have to talk."

Luffy frowned. "But I don't know anything about you."

"Well, you should have thought about that before joining my alliance." Luffy cocked his head to the side, clearly not understanding what Law meant. "What do you want to know?" He asked in defeat.

Luffy thought for a moment. "What's your favorite food?" That was it?

"Grilled fish." Luffy looked at him as if he were waiting for an elaboration. Law raised an eyebrow at him.

"Is that all?" Luffy looked disappointed.

"I also like onigiri," Law said, hoping that would be satisfactory. "Grilled fish and onigiri."

"I like meat," Luffy told him despite not being asked.

"Just meat?" Law asked, confused.

"I like all meat!" Luffy exclaimed. Thankfully, the boy seemed to be happy with their conversation and leapt away. Law assumed he was off to bother one of his crewmates instead and went back to pretending to sleep.

Law's deception proved pretty effective. Aside from the time Luffy interrupted him, he was able to be left alone the entire afternoon. It was when he overheard Robin waking the swordsman up for dinner that Law knew it was time for more social interaction. He peeked open one eye and saw Robin headed his way.

"Would you like to join us for dinner?" She asked him. Law thought for a moment. On one hand he would have to deal with Luffy and the rest of his crew, but, on the other hand, Law was hungry.

"Yes," He told her, "I'll join you in a moment." Robin smiled at him and retreated away. Law let himself soak in a few more seconds of silence before moving to enter the kitchen. As he walked in, he was hit with a familiar scent. No, he thought. It couldn't be. Law glanced around the room and took the last available seat next to Luffy. Sanji came around and set several plates around the table. Law stared at the food placed in front of him.

"Grilled fish and onigiri?" He asked in disbelief.

"It was Luffy's idea," Robin told him. Law turned to the captain; an enormous grin was plastered to his face.

"It's Traffy's favorite!" Luffy proudly stated. Dammit, Law hated when Luffy called him that. Seriously, how hard was it to say Trafalgar? He figured he'd let it slide this time though since Luffy had made such a generous gesture.

"Wow, Luffy," Nami said in awe. "I've never seen you care about other people's food preferences before." Luffy took a big bite of grilled fish.

"As long as there's meat, I'm happy!" He said through a mouthful of food. With that, the dinner had commenced. It was a lot more hectic than Law had anticipated. It seemed every crew member had to be careful to keep their food from Luffy's wandering hands. Not even Law's plate was safe, but he did manage to snag a piece of fish and a couple rice balls, which was more than enough for him. He took a bite of his fish and was stunned by how good it was. He'd never tasted anything like it. Luffy seemed to notice Law's surprise and smiled at him.

"Sanji's the best, isn't he!" Law simply smiled and nodded in confirmation. It was the best meal he'd ever had.

It was Law's first night on the ship, and he wasn't entirely sure what his sleeping arrangements would be, so he figured he'd just enter the men's quarters and see if there was any room for him. Little did he know, this would be a much more bothersome task than he anticipated.

When he entered the room, there were only six hanging beds available, each containing a single male member of the straw hats. Brooke, the Straw Hat's musician, was on watch duty that night. Everyone seemed unsure of what the solution would be; they all just glanced at one another waiting for someone to come up with something. Franky was the first to speak up.

"Uhhh, sorry Trafalgar. We don't seem to have enough beds for everybody. We weren't exactly expecting to pick up another crewmate on that abandoned island. Ya know?" He chuckled.

"It's fine, I can make myself comfortable on the floor." It wouldn't be the worst place Law had slept.

"No," Luffy interrupted, "Traffy can use my hammock."

"You're going to sleep on the floor Luffy?" Ussop asked.

"No, I'll just sleep with Zoro. He's already asleep so he won't mind."

"Can't argue with that," Sanji laughed as Luffy climbed into Zoro's bed. It was located just above Luffy's; all of the beds sat in rows of three and columns of two in order to make best use of the space.

Not seeing any reason to argue, Law undid his shirt and threw himself into the empty bed. Hopefully, Law would be able to sleep well knowing he was surrounded by such a powerful crew, but he suspected it wouldn't be enough. Law was plagued by invading images whenever he closed his eyes. He saw Corazon, heard him die, and worst of all he saw Doflamingo and his menacing smile. When he slept, those images turned into nightmares and he was left helpless at their mercy. Recently though, specifically in the last few years, another image invaded his mind: Luffy, and that horrible look in his eyes- he saw it often. Law just hoped he'd be able to see that demonic look again on Dressrosa when the fighting finally started.

Unfortunately for Law, the nightmares would be the least of his troubles in falling asleep. Above him, Luffy and Zoro fought for dominance of the cramped bed in their unconscious states. He couldn't clear his mind with all the rustling of sheets, and clashing of fists happening above him. Apparently Zoro did in fact mind another man being in his bed even if he was sleeping during the arrangement. Law was sure that they would continue to fight all throughout the night when a sleeping Luffy was pushed out and landed on the floor right next to Law. It seemed that Zoro had won, and ,somehow, Luffy was still fast asleep. Still unconscious, Luffy climbed his way back into his original bed, not realizing Law was still in it. Law wished he had just slept on the floor like he intended, but now here he was forced to share the bed with the dimwit captain. He couldn't get away from him all day, of course he wouldn't be able to escape the little menace at night either.

Reluctantly, Law decided to continue trying to fall asleep and hoped the situation would work itself out by the morning. Perhaps Luffy would wake up and return to Zoro's bed, or anybody else's for that matter; Law just wanted him out of his. Just as the thought entered his head, Luffy rolled over and wrapped his arms around Law's torso and rested his head on top of his chest. Oh Great, he thought, I'm never getting out of this situation, am I?

Law laid stiff as a board, trying his best to fall asleep, but he just couldn't ignore the way Luffy was pressed up against him. It was humiliating! What if one of his crew saw him like this? Law decided it would be for the best if he just retreated onto the floor, but when he tried to sit up and move away, Luffy's rubber arms dragged him back. Law gritted his teeth and silently cursed to himself. He truly was trapped in this terrible situation and would just have to make the best of it. He looked down at Luffy's head resting against his bare chest. A small dribble of drool was pooling out from Luffy's gaping mouth. Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting. Make the best of this situation? Hell, he'd be lucky if the situation didn't worsen before morning. Law let an arm fall over Luffy's body and, to his surprise, he fell asleep rather quickly. That night, he dreamed of Luffy, which was much better than when he dreamed of Doflamingo or Corazon. Those memories were too painful to relive, so despite the irritation Luffy usually caused him, he dreamed peacefully and slept just the same.

Law woke up in a much more humiliating position than he fell asleep in. Luffy still had his arms wrapped around his torso, with a considerably larger pool of dried drool still on his chest, but at some point in the night, Law had turned to embrace Luffy back. His face was pressed into Luffy's tangled hair while the other's head nestled in the crook of his shoulder. Actually, Law slept so well that Luffy now had his own pool of drool stuck in his hair, courtesy of Law. He supposed they were now even on that account.

Law then looked up through dreary eyes and met the inquisitive gaze of Zoro, who was peering down at them. In a crazed attempt to get away from Luffy and therefore out of this humiliating position, Law inadvertently threw himself and Luffy out of the bed and onto the hardwood floor. Luffy's head landed with a thunk, Luckily, Law was able to brace himself with his arm. The two of them stood up, Luffy rubbed where his head had hit the ground, clearly confused by what had happened and why he was suddenly awake.

"Oowww," Luffy groaned as he tried to process the situation. He glanced around and landed his eyes on Law's chest, now able to see full well the tattoos he was looking for the previous day.

Law blushed and darted his eyes around the room. All the other beds were empty aside from Luffy and Zoro's. Oh god, did everyone see him and Luffy positioned like that? He locked eyes with Zoro again, clearly suspicious of what he'd woken up to find. Law cleared his throat.

"Uhh, Straw Hat-ya, aren't you hungry?" This turned Luffy's attention away from his exposed body.

"YAY! BREAKFAST!" Luffy exclaimed as he ran for the door. "Sanjiii, I'm ready to eaaat."

Law looked up at Zoro who was still staring him down. Quickly, Law threw his shirt back on, and headed for the door. "Come on, aren't you hungry too?"

"Nah," the swordsman drawled, "Thirsty's more like it."

Author's Note

Hurray! We made it through Chapter 2! I had a lot of fun writing this one; I love the idea of Law being forced to share a bed with Luffy, so be prepared for a lot more of that. This is really what I wanted to write about when I started this: Law getting into increasingly awkward situations with Luffy and having to face the Straw Hat's reactions. Hope you enjoyed it, and Thanks for continuing with my story!
