Chapter 18

Alright, people, this is it, the final chapter for How to Train to be a Jedi! Took a long while to get to this point as I did have other stories and story projects to work on, I also had my normal life to deal with as I'm sure many of you do, but we're finally here.

I hope you're as excited to read this chapter as I am to make it, so I'm just gonna cut right to it.

Now suspecting that Chancellor Palpatine is actually the mysterious Sith Lord, Darth Sidious, Anakin walks over to Palpatine's office to talk to him and see if he can get him to confess.

In secret, Anakin kept his communicator on for the other Jedi, namely Obi-Wan, Mace, Hiccup, Astrid and Yoda who were all standing by in case the Chancellor really does try something. All of the other members of the Jedi council were also standing by in various locations throughout the Senate building.

Anakin walks up to the big sliding doors to Palpatine's office and gives them a knock. He could hear Palpatine clear his voice from the inside before saying, "Come in."

Anakin opens the door and sees Palpatine sitting at his desk alone, wearing all-black clothing and seemed to be writing something on some paper. He goes up to the Supreme Chancellor and says, "Hey there, Chancellor!"

Palpatine smiles. "Skywalker! Such a pleasant surprise! What can I do for you, son?"

Anakin takes a deep breath as he gathers up the words he wants to say before replying, "Oh, I kind of just wanted to talk. You mind?"

Palpatine puts down his pen and replies, "Well, I suppose I could spare a few minutes." He gestures to the seat in front of his desk, to which Anakin sits down.

Anakin then chuckles a bit. "Sorry, I was just thinking of that funny thing you said the other day."

Palpatine nods. "Ah, and what would that be?"

While Anakin repeats something that Palpatine on a previous day, Mace asks, "What is he doing? He's going to blow this for all of us!"

Hiccup replies, "Will you just be patient?"

Palpatine then nods. "Ah, yes. *chuckles* I remember now! Well, I presume you didn't just want to come and talk about funny stuff."

Anakin then sighs. "Well, it's kind of something to do with the Council."

Palpatine nods. "Ah, I see. Oh, that's right, your suspension is up, isn't it?"

Hearing this, Mace looks to the others and asks, "Did anyone tell him about the suspension being lifted?"

The rest shake their heads and the other Jedi give a secret respond of 'no'. They continue to listen in.

Anakin replies with, "Yeah, it was, that's true, but that's not what I wanted to talk about. I wanted to talk about…something else."

Palpatine replies with, "Alright, what is it?"

Anakin then asks, "Remember last month when you sent myself and Hiccup to a correspondence on Lothal?"

Palpatine nods. "I recall."

Anakin adds, "Well, I don't think I told you this, but that correspondence never actually showed up. In fact, someone who did happen to show up was Count Dooku. Now, it could've been a total coincidence that Dooku was there when Hiccup and I were, but he did have some battle droids with him. Almost as if he knew Hiccup and I were going to be there."

Palpatine glances from side to side. "Uh, probably was a total coincidence, like you said. I'm sure he always has some guards with him."

Anakin points out, "Not unless he's actually planning to capture someone."

Palpatine then replies as he turns his chair around to where he was facing away from Anakin, hoping to hide his expression of fear, "Well, maybe he's just that good."

Upon hearing that last word, the voice recognizer, which Hiccup held onto, dings in confirmation. Mace nods to that. "Yeah, I'd say that's all the evidence we need." He then says into a small hearing device Anakin was wearing, "We're moving in, Skywalker."

Anakin just gives the slightest of nods as he stands up and walks to the door, which then opens up to reveal the previously mentioned Jedi. "I'm sorry I have to do this, Chancellor. But it is my duty as a Jedi to make sure this galaxy is safe, and that means taking out any sort of threats."

Having heard the door open, Palpatine turns his chair back around to see Mace, Obi-Wan, Yoda, Hiccup and Astrid standing next to Anakin. Palpatine asks, "Skywalker…what is this?"

Mace steps up and replies, "I can take this from here. Chancellor Palpatine, you're under arrest for tyranny and treason against the Republic, the Senate and the Jedi."

Palpatine blinks. "What are you going on about? I'm no threat!"

Mace reminds him, "Chancellor, we've been listening in to your conversation just now, and he did bring up some very valid points, points that lead us to believe that you are not who you claim to be. We believe you are the mysterious Sith Lord, Darth Sidious, and as such we are here to take you in. If you can't comply with us peacefully…" he then unclips his lightsaber from his belt. "…then we will have to use force."

Mace activates his purple blade while the other Jedi activate their own blue/green/white blades, except for Anakin who adds, "We're onto you, Chancellor, and quite frankly I'm hoping you put up a fight." Before activating his blue blade and pulling his saber up.

Palpatine simply blinks as he stands up and comments, "I see…so after all this time, this is how it is going to happen…very well then." He then brings up a saber hilt from his belt. "It seems I will have to take these matters into my own hands." He then activates a red blade from the saber.

All the Jedi raise their blades in a defensive position before Palpatine leaps forward, swirling his blade, to which the Jedi dodge. Palpatine looks back and swings his saber towards Hiccup, who blocks it. From behind, Obi-Wan swings his blade down, to be blocked by a second saber that Palpatine had pulled out.

Palpatine then Force Pushes the Jedi to the wall as he leaps into the hallway. Mace yells into his com, "The Chancellor has engaged us! Be ready to fight!" to alert the other Jedi in the building.

Hearing this, Palpatine uses Sith Lightning to destroy the device on Mace's arm when he wasn't paying attention, shocking and stunning him. However, the other Jedi heard this and got ready as told.

Yoda leaps towards Palpatine a few times and swings down his short, green blade to be blocked. The two of them hold a position while Yoda states, "trusted and respected you, We all did! a mistake, That clearly was."

Palpatine grunts and nearly gets distracted as Hiccup charges up his blade with The Force before swinging it at Palpatine, sending a slash of Force that Palpatine blocked. Obi-Wan tells Hiccup, "Show us what you've got."

Hiccup nods and Force Leaps over everyone and swings his blue blade down, clashing it with Palpatine's red blade. Mace then calls out, "HICCUP!" before tossing his lightsaber to Hiccup. Hiccup catches it and activates the purple blade before performing a series of twists and turns to try to throw Palpatine off guard.

Hiccup puts the blades together and slashes down, creating an X shaped slash of Force that nearly knocked Palpatine off his feet. Palpatine then charges up lightning and fires it at Hiccup, to which he blocks by keeping both blades in that same X shape.

Palpatine would've kept going with that, but then Astrid leaps over Hiccup and swings her white blade down, to which Palpatine crosses his blades and blocks. He comments, "You traitor! I knew Dooku should've left you for dead on Raxus!"

Astrid pulls away and charges up her own blade with Force that she slashes towards Palpatine to be blocked, but the added force caused the rest of Palpatine's body to be pushed back slightly. Astrid comments, "I've made my choice in life, and I'll never go back!"

Palpatine nearly didn't notice that Plo Koon and Kit Fisto were on either side of him and were swinging their respective blue and green saber blades down, which Palpatine blocks with both of his blades before pushing the two Jedi back against the wall.

Behind Hiccup and Astrid, Obi-Wan, Mace and Anakin had put their hands together and were charging up a ball of force that they sent to Palpatine who tried to use lightning to block, but the ball just went right into him, knocking him into a wide door.

Palpatine opens the door, not realizing where the door led to, and backed away as the Jedi walked towards him. He then does a backwards leap towards the center of the room. However, he stops in his tracks when he hears a familiar voice. "Chancellor?!" He looks behind him and sees Padmé there next to Bail Organa, along with the entire Senate, who were all witnessing their beloved Chancellor holding two red lightsabers.

The other Jedi followed him as Anakin asks, "Did I mention that an 'anonymous' tipper called the Senate for an emergency meeting?"

Mace replies, "I will never doubt you again, Skywalker." He takes his saber back from Hiccup and points it towards Palpatine as he picks up a microphone and states, "Take a good look, people. For this man is not who you think he is. This man is actually a Sith Lord named Darth Sidious, and he has been perfectly playing both sides of the war, for what purpose we do not know!"

Padmé looks to the Chancellor and asks, "Chancellor…I-is this true?" Obviously this causes many of the senators to raise similar questions.

Mace then adds, "This man has been playing you all as a feeble Senator followed by Supreme Chancellor for years, and I suspect he is responsible for many of the events that have happened in recent years. The invasion on Naboo, turning Count Dooku to the Dark Side, the creation of the Clones using the former bounty hunter, Jango Fett's DNA, and he is responsible for the war as a whole."

Again, just about everyone in the room began asking questions as Palpatine, lightsabers still in-hand and activated, realizes what is going on. "How can you all prove that the Jedi aren't simply framing me?"

Hiccup then states. "I think I know how. T0?" T0-H5, the small, black Astro-droid beeps from behind Hiccup and plugs himself into a port where he pulls up a holographic video that clearly shows Palpatine fighting the other Jedi and using moves that only a Sith would know, namely the lightning.

That seemed to convince everyone as all eyes turned to Palpatine and Padmé asks, "Chancellor…how…could you?"

Palpatine could clearly see that he was exposed, so he closes his eyes and reveals a set of yellow Sith eyes and his face grew a bunch more wrinkles while his skin turned a stone grey. "Fine….FINE! You all caught me. So what are you going to do about it? Arrest me? Try to take me down?"

The rest of the Senate were basically scrambling to decide what they should do. Padmé then looks to Anakin to see if he has any ideas, then something occurs to her. She whispers into Bail's ear and the large, black haired man replies, "If you think it will work."

Padmé then stands and announces. "Attention please!" Everyone quiets down. "I believe that this is official Jedi business, and as such, the decision over what to do from here should be made my the Jedi Council. Anyone who agrees may vote, majority vote wins."

The other Senators talk amongst each other before Palpatine asks, "Oh, come on, who is actually going to vote here?"

Just then, a voice speaks up saying, "Orto Plutonia agrees!" They look to see a blue skinned woman, smiling towards the Jedi and to Padmé. Padmé mouths 'thank you'

This was added by a male voice saying, "Mon Calamari agrees!" From somewhere amongst the crowd.

From then on, more and more Senators stood up and added to the mix.

"Lothal agrees!"

"Ryloth agrees!"

"Alderaan agrees!"

Within minutes, Padmé already heard enough senators agree to the decision, so she announces, "Then the decision has been made. Chancellor Palpatine, or should we say Darth Sidious, the people have spoken. You have been stripped of your rank as Supreme Chancellor and you will be turned over to the Jedi Council who will decide what to do from here. May this be the day that the galaxy finds PEACE!"

The crowd cheers as Mace says to Palpatine, "It's over, Sidious."

Seeing as fighting wasn't an option as it would just put him in deeper water, Sidious deactivates his sabers and drops them as Hiccup and Astrid Force Grab him and bring him over to be placed into shackles.

Since he was too dangerous to be in any normal cell, Sidious was loaded onto a ship that had specialized bars and cells that were resistant to the Force. As Sidious was being loaded on by Commander Cody and a few other Clones, Padmé comments to Mace, Yoda, Bail and Obi-Wan, "I just…can't believe it. Chancellor Palpatine was one of my closest friends and my mentor. I can't believe he would do any of this."

Mace reminds her, "This is a shock to all of us, and a reminder that trust is not something to be taken for granted."

Yoda adds, "As much of a shock as this is, I do feel like the darkness that plagued the galaxy is being lifted as we speak."

Obi-Wan then comments, "You know that Grievous and Ventress will go through some great lengths to make sure he comes out alive."

Mace nods, "Which is why we must keep a constant guard on him."

Padmé then asks, "Where did you say you were taking him?"

Mace looks to Obi-Wan and Yoda and replies, "I'm sorry, but that information cannot be disclosed at this time."

Padmé blinks to that then nods. "I understand. So…what happens now?"

Bail reminds her. "First things first, the Senate is going to need a new Supreme Chancellor."

Padmé comments, "Palpatine served for so long that it's kind of hard to imagine anyone else taking over. How will we decide."

Bail replies, "An emergency election is in order, and I think I'm looking at an ideal candidate."

Padmé saw that Bail was looking at her and her eyes widen. "M-me? Running for Supreme Chancellor?!"

Bail nods and replies, "If you wish. If not, we can find somebody else, I understand that with how close you were to Palpatine, that might cause some commotion, but I would certainly consider it. After all, your ways with words are quite remarkable."

Anakin, who was listening in from the side, then steps in and comments, "It might not be in my place to say it, but I think this could be a very good thing for you, Senator." He gives her a slight wink.

Padmé thinks about it for a moment before replying with a smile. "I…I'd be honored!"

Anakin smiles back. "I knew you would be."

Mace then adds, "I think you will do fine. In fact, I think you may need an escort to help you get around, form our newest Jedi Master, that is." he pats Anakin's shoulder.

Hearing that, Anakin's whole face lightens up. "J-Jedi Master?! Are you serious?"

Mace nods. "I spoke with your Master about it and, well, he thinks it is about time we recognized all of the hard work you've put in to both the war, but also helping us realize who Chancellor Palpatine truly is. What do you say?"

Anakin was beaming in that moment, he couldn't believe what he was hearing. He bows and replies, "Thank you, Master Windu. You too, Master!"

Obi-Wan shrugs. "I figured I had to let you have it at some point."

Just then, Ahsoka runs up and hugs Anakin tight. "I'm so happy for you, Master! I know that this is all you've ever wanted."

Anakin pats Ahsoka on the back. "Did you really expect anything less, Snips?"

Hearing the arrogant comment, Mace whispers to Yoda, "You really think this was a good idea?"

Yoda replies, "What's done is done."

The other Jedi then walk over to Hiccup and Astrid, who were talking amongst each other when Mace comments, "Haddock, we really owe you one as well. If it weren't for you brining in Ms. Hofferson, we probably wouldn't have figured out that Darth Sidious even exists, let alone be able to capture him."

Astrid then asks, "Hey, what about me?"

Mace nods. "Yes, of course. You both have been incredible, and for that I thank you."

Just then, however, Hiccup noticed a purple glow right next to him. He looks and sees some sort of portal had opened up right along the walls of the hangar. On the other side of that portal was a small island village that was full of wooden buildings, Vikings and, something that he had truly missed more than anything, dragons.

"That's…Berk!" Hiccup comments.

Obi-Wan comments, "I suppose The Force recognized that you did what you came here to do as well, save the galaxy, so it looks like it is allowing you to go back home."

Hiccup looks to Berk, then to the other Jedi and friends that he had made along the way, including Obi-Wan, Mace, Yoda, Anakin and T0-H5. He really wasn't sure if he wanted to go back to his former life as a dragon rider.

That was until Obi-Wan places a hand on Hiccup's shoulder and says, "Go. Your world needs you."

Hearing this, Hiccup nods and gives Obi-Wan a big hug. "Thank you…for everything."

Obi-Wan hugs him back replying with, "You're welcome."

The rest of the Jedi gather around to give their goodbyes as Hiccup says, "Thank you all. I will remember all of you for the rest of my life. Oh, and I'm not going to need this on Berk." He tosses his lightsaber over to Astrid. "I'll be seeing you soon…well, the other you, the you who didn't want to kill me as soon she saw me."

Astrid nods. "Tell me I said hello."

Hiccup was about to turn around, but then says, "Ah, to heck with it." He grabs Astrid and kisses her right on the lips, right in front of everyone else. The others stare at Hiccup with amusement and shock as Hiccup replies, "Eh, I'm not going to be a Jedi anymore so all that focusing stuff is no longer important."

Mace nods. "I see. Well…in any case, safe travels, Hiccup."

Yoda adds, "May The Force be with you."

Anakin adds, "Don't get into too much trouble once you get back."

Hiccup shrugs. "Trouble pretty much comes my way anyway. Well…see ya." He then feels a nudge at his leg and sees T0-H5 standing there, letting out sad beeps. He pats the droid saying, "I'll miss you too, little buddy. You'll be watching Astrid now. Understand?" T0 beeps in response.

Hiccup then stands back up and gives everyone else a nod before turning around and leaping into the portal, sending himself back to his home galaxy and his home village where he will go from being Hiccup the Jedi back to being Hiccup the Dragon Rider.

An hour later, on the ship heading to the location where Darth Sidious will be locked up for good, Sidious sits in his cell which Cody, the white and yellow suited Clone, and some other Clones were standing guard with Mace.

Sidious then looks up and states, "You Jedi think you may have the upper hand…but you're wrong! For I have a plan that I've been brewing for years now."

Mace glances back and asks, "Is that so? Well then, by all means, let's see this plan."

Sidious replies, "You will regret this. Cody!" The clone also glances back to Sidious as he says, "I thought that I could wait a bit longer for my time to come, but it seems that things will have to be rushed. Execute Order 66." Cody just stands there, not moving a muscle except to look back forward. Confused, Sidious asks, "Do you have blaster bolts in your ears? I said execute Order 66!" Again, not a single response from the Clone Commander. "What is the matter with you? Execute Order 66!" He nearly shouted the number.

Mace looks back and asks, "Is there something wrong, Lord Sidious?"

Seeing as nothing is happening still, Sidious puts some pieces together and asks, "…What have you done?"

Mace looks over to Cody and commands, "Take off your helmet." Cody turns around and removes his yellow lined helmet, revealing a gauze patch to the top left side of his head. "Knowing that you were responsible for creating the Clones, I wondered why you would need such a vast array of them. I contacted Master Shaak Ti and she, along with Clone Trooper CT 55-55, did some digging and found that all Clones have some kind of chip lodged into their brain, given to them long before birth. Any clue what that could be about?"

Sidious just stares him down with a glare mixed with a look of realization.

Mace adds, "It got me wondering what would happen if those chips were to be removed, so before I set off to interrogate you, I had Cody and his squad have their chips removed in a secret location as I suspect the Kaminoans are in on this as well."

Sidious stares him down some more before simply asking, "…What?"

Mace adds, "I've made the order to have all chips removed from all Clones. Once that is done, and we have both General Grievous and Asaaj Ventress, who we presume are the new leaders of the Separatists and new Sith Apprentice respectively, in custody, we will then release the Clones so that they may live amongst us. Not as soldiers, but as citizens."

Cody smiles. "I think my men would like that, sir."

Sidious then stares down at his feet before saying in an increasing volume, "…No…no…NO!" He slams his fists towards the ground, but since the walls of his cell are Force resistant, they didn't even bend. "Years of acting as a feeble Chancellor, DOWN THE DRAIN! I knew you Jedi would be the last of me!"

Mace then says to Cody, "Do it." Cody then presses a button which causes the seat of Sidious's cell to drop and make him drop into a waiting escape pod, which was then launched into space. Then, a blaster from the ship they were on fires a bolt that blows up the escape pod in a blaze of electric, Force glory, thus taking out Darth Sidious once and for all.

As for Hiccup, once he got back to Berk, he was soon reunited with his old friends, Astrid included, and his true best friend in his galaxy, Toothless, and while he might not be with The Force any longer, and while no one on Berk could ever possibly comprehend, let alone understand what Hiccup went through in the other galaxy, the memories that he created as a Jedi will live in his mind for the rest of his life.

While I'm a little sad that this story is already ending, I suppose that's just how stories like this go.
