A/N: Before we start this off, allow me to put a moratorium on something… do! not! use! my! Review section to attack other authors! I cannot believe I actually have to say this. If you have any sort of grievance with an author, man up (or woman up) and make an account, and have a reasonable discussion about said grievances through PM. I don't like moderating reviews or blocking people, because it sets a bad precedent, but I will if I see that sort of thing from here on out.

Obviously, this is not directed at everyone, but those responsible, you know who you are. Stop it. Don't make me leave another message like this.

"Will you relax, ya little gremlin? How many times I gotta tell ya, I'll pay you back."

"I am Baytor!"

"Oh give me a break, what are ya gonna do? Break my kneecaps? Patience is a virtue my friend."

"I am Baytor…"

"Really? I was starting to think we had a bond. Oh well."

"I am Baytor?"

"I dunno. Sometime soon? Times are hard and money's tight. A man's still gotta quench his thirst every once and a while."

"I am Baytor!"

"Hey, language! I'd watch that mouth before it gets a bar of soap shoved in it."

"I am Baytor! I am Baytor!"

Dante scratched the back of his neck, setting the glass bottle in his hand down on the countertop, "Look, if you can't spare a couple of beers then I think you have a lot more to worry about than-"

*beep beep beep*

Dante sighed as his communicator went off, a call from the Watchtower "Hold on, lemme take this." he pulled the device from his coat pocket, Martian Manhunter appearing on the screen, "I'm drowning my sorrows man, what do ya want?"

"Our surveillance shows you're in Gotham." the Martian said, "Hawkgirl and Cyborg need your assistance against Giganta and Dr Light."

Dante simply stared at the screen, "Why is this city so popular?" and then his eyes widened, "And did you say Dr Light? What, did the chick go postal?"

It was then Dante could hear another voice in the background, a familiar looking woman shooing the Martian out of camera sight, "Yeah, no, still playing for the good guys, Dante." Dr Light said, "It's the other Dr Light you're going after."

The devil's eyes squinted, "There's two Dr Lights!? What the hell?"

The woman sighed, "Most of us can't copyright our names without giving up our identities. Ya got two Dr Lights, two King Sharks, like, three Killer Frosts, and I think there's also been something like three Cheet-" she quickly shook her head, "Irrelevant! Not the point! Just get to the Old Gotham district, near the Museum. That's where they're fighting." the communications cut.

Dante tapped the bar before standing up, "You know I'd love to hang around, but you know, duty calls." he turned around, coat flipping behind him, "Leave the drinks on my tab, you know I'm good for it." Dante said before he headed out, Baytor flipping him off as he stepped out the door.

As Dante walked the street, he sighed. It's not enough that at night time this city went to hell, but apparently, ya' just couldn't have a nice quiet afternoon without some damn thing.

The half devil got on his motorcycle, revving up the engine. He sped off through the belly of the city.

Hawkgirl gave a battle cry as she flew in, swinging her mace at a massive behemoth of a woman. The gargantuan villainess was an attractive redhead, her long hair tied back and reaching down her waist. She possessed ocean blue eyes and blood red lipstick that matched her hair color. Her attire was that of a single-shoulder pink dress that stopped at the start of her hips. She also wore large gold earrings and a neck ring.

Giganta raised her forearms to block the incoming strike, the woman crying out from the blow that made her stumble back, stepping on a few abandoned cars on the street. She grunted at the winged heroine before her, "That hurt!" before swinging at her like she was swatting a fly. Unfortunately for Hawkgirl, Gigantas size did nothing to hinder her speed.

Cyborg was in a shootout with a man dressed in a bright white and black suit. His left arm was a shield and his right a cannon. A yellow force field surrounded the suited villain, yellow beams of light firing from the man's palms.

The nature of Dr Light's attacks meant they fired faster than Cyborg's lasers, and they hit hard enough to keep him at bay, putting the young hero at a disadvantage.

Dr Light laughed triumphantly, "What happened to all that confidence boy? You think I would have stayed stagnant after spending years fighting you and your friends?!"

Gotham police put up barricades in hopes of keeping the battle contained to this small section of the city. Officers and Swat team members hid behind squad cars with their guns trained in case they needed to take action. Behind the police cars were news vehicles, the crews trying their damndest to catch live footage of the brawl.

Hawkgirl cried out as Giganta hit her with a backhand, knocking her out of the air and down to a building rooftop. Giganta looked down at her, "Sorry birdie," she raised her hand, "but I own these skies."

Before she could bring her palm down over the downed heroine, a wolf whistle from behind caught her attention. Giganta turned, quickly eyeing a white haired man standing casually on the rooftop of a three story building below her.

The man looked up at her with a raised eyebrow, a sly smirk on his face, "My my," Dante put on a fake country accent, "I must say, you are a whole lotta woman."

Giganta grinned down at him, pulling a fist back, "It just means there's more of me to love, darling." She threw a punch straight for Dante, expecting to crush the man under her fist. She gasped as her punch was stopped cold, Dante simply blocking the blow with the flat of Rebellion.

The devil-hunter looked up at Giganta, "Well would you look at that, here we just met and you already can't keep your hands off me." he shoved the woman's massive fist back, throwing off her balance and making her stumble. Giganta recovered, quickly getting frustrated as she threw another punch. Dante leaped over the fist just before it could land, Giganta's knuckles bursting through the roof. He ran up the length of her arm, leaping up at her face when he reached her elbow.

Panicking, Giganta tried punching at Dante before he could reach her… only for the man to disappear and she punch herself in the face instead. Dazed, she stumbled back and crashed into a building, caving in much of it.

"Tricked ya." Dante snickered as he landed on the roof beside Hawkgirl, "Guess that brain doesn't grow in proportion, cause there ain't much going on in that noggin." he looked to the redheaded heroine before him, "You alright hot wings?"

"Never better." the heroine said as she stood up, shaking her head, "I have taken worse hits."

"Ain't this the bat's turf? Why isn't he handling this?" Dante asked Hawkgirl.

"The batfamily isn't active until nightfall." Hawkgirl said, "That means bad guys can afford to be bold during the day."

"Figures." Dante said as Giganta regathered her bearings, glaring daggers at the two. The son of Sparda looked up, giving her a small wave, "Heya thunder thighs. Wanna call it quits? Make this easy on yourself?"

"You call it quits!" the woman shouted before pushing the building Dante and Hawkgirl were on, attempting to knock it over with the two on top.

"That's no bueno." Dante said, he and Hawkgirl quickly engaging the villain. The half devil jumped off the roof, going low while Hawkgirl went high. He dropped a kick into Giganta's gut, folding and winding her while Hawkgirl nailed the woman with a mace swing to her jaw, knocking her into a partly constructed building again. She was losing consciousness, her vision of Dante standing on a lower level rooftop going fuzzy. She tried slamming her palm down, only for Dante to leisurely step in between the space between her index and ring fingers. He stepped onto her hand, running up her arm once more. She tried using her other hand to swipe him off, only for him to use it as a springboard to uppercut her, knocking her chin up. Dante quickly came down and grabbed her ponytail, bringing her head to the edge of a building, knocking her out.

Dante landed down on the streets in front of the giant as Hawkgirl landed next to him. Giganta slumped down to the ground, unconscious and sitting against the building, legs spread eagle.

"And down goes the 50 foot woman." Dante said, taking another look at Giganta.

He almost wished he hadn't…

"Oooh, she does not wear bottoms under there…" he looked away. Hawkgirl, by instinct, looked before quickly glancing away as well,

"I really could have lived without seeing that…"

Dr Light swung a light formed lazer whip at the former titan, Cyborg using a light post to defend before the villain slashed the sign in half. Sneering evilly, Light pulled back the whip, before it was suddenly shot out of his hand. The villain yelped in pain, his hand bleeding from the bullet that grazed his palm.

He turned, eyeing Dante who held Ivory at him gangster style.

"Now where have you been all my life." Dante asked, "You know how much money you could've saved me on my light bill? Just chain you up to my office ceiling and about half my problems would be over."

"And who are you?" Dr Light asked.

"Someone with a more original identity." Dante replied.

"Dante, be careful man." Cyborg said, "This guy attacks with light. Do the math on how fast that is."

"Well then, it's a good thing I wore my running shoes." Dante said as he did a quick jog in place, his blood pumping.

Dr Light scoffed, the man before him not seeming like much, "You think you can outpace light?"

"I'll try anything once." Dante said, stopping his jog before setting his feet. His hands came down near his guns, a show of a western duelist stance.

Grinning, Dr Light mimicked Dante's stance. In the middle of the street, the two men stood across from each other, a mock of a classic western fast draw duel. Dante's fingers twitched near his pistol handles, Dr Light's balling up repeatedly as light emanated at the tips of his fingers.

"And draw!" Dr Light roared as he brought both hands up, leveling them at Dante.

"And stand still!" Dante shot back slyly as he snapped both of his fingers at the villain.

Time in the immediate area slowed to an absolute crawl, putting everything within the vicinity into a barely moveable slow motion… except for the half-devil. Dante grinned as light slowly appeared in Light's palms before instantly firing despite the time slow. Having cleared the path of the blast, Dante jogged up to the villain, "And here's your off switch." He punched the former physician in the stomach, time resuming as he did. Dr Light's eyes bugged out as the force of Dante's punch sent him flipping and careening up into the side of a building.

He peeled off the building and fell back down to the street.

Hawkgirl and Cyborg looked at the devil in disbelief.

"Damn." Cyborg said with a wide eye.

"He… he can move like the Flash…" Hawkgirl breathed. From her perspective, one second Dante was standing before her, and the next, Dr Light was already incapacitated, his attack not even touching Dante. Perhaps Dante could siphon off of the speed force like others?

The police and news reporters moved in, Cyborg whooping, "Booyah! That's my boy right there!" he moved in, fist bumping the man.

"They got cuffs big enough for Ginormica?" Dante asked, Cyborg naturally looking at the giantess.

The former Teen Titan's eye widened, before he put a hand in front of his face, "Aw com- man, that ain't right!"

Hawkgirl put a hand on Dante's shoulder, "Since she's your takedown, you should deal with that. That's not her normal size."

Dante sighed, "Great. Let's hope I don't trip and fall in." he joked. He walked up to Giganta, knocking on her forearm to stir her awake. She looked down at him with sleepy eyes, "Howdy sleeping beauty. Ya lost. Be a good sport and go bite size for me?"

Giganta pouted, before her form silently shrunk down to the size of a tall, yet normal sized woman. Dante grabbed her by the arm and slung her over his shoulder, carrying her like a sack of potatoes. Rubbing her sore jaw, Giganta said with a pouty voice, "That really hurt."

"It's called an ass whooping, Big Momma." Dante grinned back at her and bounced her a bit, "It ain't supposed to feel pleasant."

He walked her over to a police transport vehicle, setting her down so an officer could cuff her.

"Thanks for the help again, mister." the young officer said, getting the metal links on Giganta. A group of officers weren't far behind with Dr Light, "You never told us what your name was."

"I know." Dante said as he walked away, ignoring the media outlets trying to get a one on one with him. One particularly aggressive news crew tried stepping in front of him to block him off, Dante simply grabbing the camera by its lens and forcing the person holding it to the side.

He shook his head as he headed back to the League members. He had only been in this world for a week, and now the news outlets were pestering him. Fortunately, since he liked to spend most of his free time in Gotham, his budding reputation was confined to this city. For as much as he talked bad about Gotham, a major factor in his hanging out in this city was due to how easy it was to get into trouble.

Trouble, he liked…

One trip into a dark alley, and there was a mugging, whether aimed at him or someone else. Muggings led to fights. Walk down a barren street at night, there was a robbery… and robberies led to fights. The bar he frequented… well, went without saying…

Since Dante refused to give out his name, people outside the league could only really refer to him as "That wacky guy with the white hair". Which, given the amount of metahumans and aliens in the world with similar hair colors, didn't do much to narrow him down.

"Ready to peace out of here, man?" Cyborg asked, about to call a boom tube to get them back to the Watchtower.

The second Dante's mouth opened…

"Dante~"

His eyes narrowed, Hawkgirl and Cyborg looking to him worriedly.

There was that itch again…

Cyborg looked around, the street lights flickering on and off. The alarms of several vehicles suddenly started going off, startling the police and news crews in the area. His suit's scanners were picking up something moving around rapidly through the area, though he couldn't pick it up.

"Dante, are you okay?" Hawkgirl asked. Her eyes widened as Dante pulled Ivory, aiming it right for her, "Dante, what are you-"

"Hit the deck." He said, Shayera doing just that.

The second the woman went low, a large monster shrouded in lightning shot in from behind, aiming to thrust its massive claws through her to get to Dante. The devil-hunter let off a round from Ivory, the monster's unnatural speed allowing it to suddenly disappear from sight to dodge the bullet.

Yellow electricity phased all over the area, appearing over rooftops, on the side of buildings, on top of cars, near police officers, before it stopped above a car, a demon giving a roar backed with destructive electricity that blasted cars and stunned everyone in the vicinity.

Dr Light looked slack jawed at the monster; a massive, red-skinned, hulking reptilian with claws the length of his arm, and thick armored plating covering its body. The monster gave a hellish roar that was backed by an explosion of violent yellow lightning, "I think I wanna go to jail now…" he told the police officer escorting him. The dozen police officers in the area immediately pulled their side arms, letting off rounds at the monster. The bullets disintegrated when they made contact with the electrical aura cloaking it.

Dante eyed the monstrosity, "The old Blitz. I love killing these things."

"That thing's a demon?" Cyborg asked, putting two and two together. Shayera got back to her feet.

"One of the elite's." Dante said, "But what's in a title?" he pulled Rebellion from behind his back, holding the tip of the sword to the demon, "This shouldn't take me long. If you two wanna head back to the Watchtower without me, feel free."

"Nuh uh." Cyborg said, shaking his head, "I want in on this action."

Dante nodded, "Okay, okay, hold on a sec." he pointed to the Blitz, "Time out." he stepped over to a nearby abandoned car, the driver side door knocked off of it. Cyborg and Hawkgirl looked to each other before looking to Dante, even the Blitz seemed confused,

"What are you doing?" Hawkgirl asked the man, watching as he scrambled around for a cord within' the car's glove compartment,

Dante pulled an mp3 player from his coat pocket, "I need music for these types of fights. One sec" he said, scrolling through songs, his eyes lit up as he found one, "Ah! There we go."

~Lock and Load~

Dante bounced with the beat of the song, cranking up the volume before pointing at the Blitz that roared in response.

Shayera gripped her mace tighter, setting her feet for the monster's attack.

The Blitz phased around again, Dante rapidly firing off shots at the demon with Ivory. He'd barely hit the creature, his bullets bouncing right off its electrically charged cloak.

"How are you even supposed to hit this thing?" Cyborg asked, his right arm a cannon and his left a shield in case he needed to defend himself or Hawkgirl. He constantly looked left, right, and behind to try and keep track of the demon, his scanners barely able to,

"You wait for it to get tired." Dante said like it was obvious, the man having fought enough of these for the encounter to be casual, "Then, you hit it hard enough to break the shield, get rid of that electricity it loves so much."

The Blitz appeared behind Dante, attempting to disembowel the man with an upwards swing of its claws. Dante phased off to the side, easily dodging.

Shayera attempted hitting the demon with her mace, Dante grabbing her forearm before she could make contact, "Really bad idea hitting the thing before its powered down." Dante said like he spoke from experience, "Unless you're a fan of electroshock therapy."

The Blitz went at Cyborg, the hero barely putting up his shield to dodge. He shot it with his arm cannon at point blank, the demon stumbling back. It's electric cloak was still strong. Dante whipped ebony and ivory, layering the guns before rapid firing demonically charged bullets at the demon.

The bullets flew faster and hit harder, the elite demon launching itself around to dodge, though less successful.

It stopped at the end of the street, electricity violently erupting from its body and destroying more vehicles. It focused the element into the monster's claws, before firing a beam of focused electricity at the heroes.

The three were fast enough to dodge, the Blitz swinging the beam of electricity around in an attempt to catch them. The electric beam swung as fast as lightning, tearing through cars and evacuated buildings.

Hawkgirl knew she couldn't let too much damage befall the city. She held herself in the air, letting the beam strike her mace.

Dante stopped, looking up at the heroine. His eyebrow rose in curiosity. Her mace seemed to absorb the electricity from the demon, something he wasn't expecting. Whatever her mace was made out of… it wasn't a natural material. Hawkgirl flew at the demon, her mace continuously absorbing its attack as she closed the distance.

A single swing from her mace cancelled out the demon's cloak. She wailed on the demon with her mace, shockwaves erupting from the blows.

The devil-hunter eyed the woman, impressed with her skill. The Blitz, apparently regaining its bearings, roared before taking a swing at Hawkgirl.

A flash of silver and the demon's arm went flying off, a snarl of rage escaping its maw.

"Not bad red."

Hawkgirl looked behind her to see Dante standing, sword drawn and slick with the Blitz blood. The Blitz gave a furious roar before its lightning turned blood red.

"What's happening to it?" Hawkgirl asked, taking a step back.

Dante smirked, "It's getting desperate." he said. He quickly grabbed Hawkgirl by her arm and moved her out of the way, the Blitz now faster and even more aggressive. It came within hair's breadth of clawing Hawkgirl, Dante making sure to keep the woman out of harm's way.

Cyborg stood back, watching the demon put all of its focus on the two that wounded it as his arm cannon charged.

As Dante narrowly dodged a forward thrust from the demon, he sliced through the monster's side length wise. The Blitz phased away from the man, appearing behind Hawkgirl to attempt a decapitation. With a massive upward swing, she knocked the demons bottom jaw off.

Now on its last legs, the Blitz appeared across from the two, charging up red lightning into its claw, a last hail mary.

Dante looked past the electric demon to see Cyborg finishing the charge on his cannon. He nodded to the young hero, before putting his sights back on the demon. He beckoned it forward with the tips of his fingers.

The instant before the demon could fire the attack, a blue beam tore through its chest, Cyborg clearly visible through the hole in its chest cavity.

Hawkgirl was expecting the demon to just fall over and die from that attack… but it stood still. Before she could voice her concern, the monster began convulsing, violently. It's body glow as it lifted off into the air, and exploded…

(Later that night…)

Batman sat in the Watchtower, tapping notes into the computer. He had, naturally, been keeping up with the devil-hunters exploits over the last several days; whether it be the few assignments he'd participated in with other League members, his interactions with certain League members, and his down time activities in Gotham…

Within the last four days he'd settled with the League; he'd assisted Black Canary and Vixen with three meta-humans in Arizona, Green Arrow with KGBeast and other terrorists in Wyoming, and acted as muscle for Question while the man did investigative work… apparently those two discovered that a boy band, that were actually disguised aliens, had been siphoning off portions of the planets ozone layer for years now… go figure…

Dante seemed to get along well enough with several members, having developed a friendly rivalry with Green Arrow. Though, that being said, his relationship with the head members left much to be desired…

Superman and Wonder Woman were hard people to frustrate. While they were willing to see the potential in Dante, they still didn't show any eagerness to bring the man along with them on any assignments any time soon…

The Flash and Green Lantern… went without saying…

Martian Manhunter, while impressed with Dante's conduct so far, like Batman he was a bit uncertain in regards to the Devil Hunter's secrecy.

The Bat himself, typically, didn't trust the man. He was hiding something worth knowing, a skeleton in his closet… he would find out what.

Batman didn't bother turning to the sound of his workroom door opening. He knew who to expect, "Good work in Gotham, Hawkgirl."

"Yeah." the Thanagarian said, "He was impressive. I understand why Superman was so eager to bring him in."

"That creature that appeared, it was a demon, correct?" Batman asked.

"Yes, it was." Shayera said, "It was an incredibly tough creature, yet Dante was able to fight without much difficulty."

"It's interesting how demons have a way of finding him… even Constantine isn't that sought after." Batman said, "Dante was attacked by demons multiple times the first few days following his arrival. When Dante assisted Green Arrow in Wyoming, the two were attacked by a pack of demons then, as well." Batman put his knuckles up to his chin as he thought, "Arrow mentioned the name Dante had for those particular demons… Scarecrows."

"He called this one a Blitz." Hawkgirl said, "It was a demon that could move as lightning."

Batman thought more on this. These demons, of varying strengths at that, appearing at random to attack Dante was indeed problematic. It was one of the main reasons they wanted to keep him in the Watchtower. If a particularly powerful type of demon could appear at any time, and pick a fight with Dante right here in the Watchtower, it could keep several of the heroes and staff in a perpetual state of danger.

No. He had to take Dante to meet her sooner rather than later.

Batman got up from his seat.

An arrow hit a dummy target right in the forehead, a bullet hitting the forehead of a target right next to it.

"Hey, I'm the one who took down Ivan Drago," Dante said, shooting a bullet through the exact hole left by a previous bullet, "So, technically, that should mean I'm still up."

Green Arrow shot an arrow that pierced cleanly through the shaft of the previous arrow, "Ah ah ah, the deal was, whoever took out the most mooks gets the win." he shot another arrow that cut cleanly through the shaft of his last shot, "And that was me."

Just two days ago, the archer had Dante team up with him to stop KGBeast and a group of terrorists from stealing nuclear weapons from Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming. It was a breeze. Though, as luck would have it, a pack of demons had made for a bit of a nuisance after the terrorists were handled.

Arrow had handled himself quite well, proving to Dante the man's skills in that regard.

"But, I still took out more of the Scarecrows when they popped up." Dante said, looking at Arrow as he shot a bullet through the hole of his last shot, holding Ivory sideways.

"Doesn't matter! We were counting mooks, and I took out more mooks, so I win that one. We're now even." Arrow said, the man looking at Dante as he shot an arrow that split the last one in half… again.

As Dante opened his mouth to shoot back, the door to the training room opened, the two seeing the Dark Knight walk through.

"Oh." Dante put on a smile, "How's it going Mister Personality?"

Batman immediately turned back to the door, "Follow me."

"Sure you don't wanna stick another bug on me, ya know, just in case I lose ya?" Dante asked as he holstered ebony, Batman turning back to look at him, "Thought I wouldn't find it?" Dante asked.

Batman simply walked back toward it, "I just didn't think you were smart enough to know one when you saw it."

The two stepped into the hallway, silently walking it.

"You need to be more careful of damages when operating in my city." Batman said, breaking the silence.

"That's a funny way of saying thanks when someone does pest control in your own backyard." Dante said.

"There's more to what we do than simply getting a job done." Batman said, "Think of something beyond your thrills."

"Whatever man. So where ya taking me? If you're trying to lure me off to drink my blood, I must warn you it's a bit on the… spicy side." Dante said.

"Like magic?" Batman asked, pulling a small piece of paper out of his belt, "We'll be meeting an old friend of mine." he handed the paper to Dante, "Be on your best behavior."

The son of Sparda took the paper. It was a ticket to some type of show out in San Francisco. He read it over,

ZATANNA: MISTRESS OF MAGIC

GOLDEN GATE THEATRE

8pm

"Magic show, huh." Dante said, shrugging, "Not a bad first date, Bats."

A/N: Not as fast of an update as it could have been, but not as slow, either.

Okay, so here's the deal. I know you guys want quicker updates, and so do I. So, what I'm gonna do is update at least every week to two weeks. The catch to me putting out a chapter every week or so, is that they'll be on the shorter end of things, say 3-4k words. Chapters may be shorter, but the higher frequency of updates should make up for it. Expect an update this coming Sunday or Monday, alright. I'm making a deadline and sticking to it.

Review and let me know your thoughts; what you liked, hated, think I should change, etc!
