Hello everyone here is an update for touched by spirits. It is a bit shorter than I initially planned because I had originally wanted to include parts of Korra meeting the fire ferrets and seeing some of the city. However because of what I have planned that will be in the next chapter.

Anyway on to the story
Naruto's reunion with his siblings and mother had Korra immediately doubting Tenzin's opinion of the younger master. Seeing him tenderly hugging his mother and pressing a hand to her swollen belly like any excited elder sibling was about as wholesome as it got. Korra watched as he laughed as his youngest two siblings climbed up and down him like monkeys on a tree and even Jinorah had been pretty much glued to his side.
That sadly changed when the whole family was seated in a single room together to eat.
Dinner with the family of air benders was a lot quieter than what Korra had expected. It was pretty easy to tell why though. Any time Jinorah or Ikki wanted to say something they looked over at their father first before frowning and focusing on their meal. Naruto and Tenzin seemed to avoid looking at one another at all while the younger master focused his attention on talking with his mother and little brother.
That at least was nice to watch. It was obvious that Pema and Naruto were very close. The young man sat beside her and practically pampered his pregnant mother throughout the meal. Repeatedly hopping out of his seat to fill drinks for everyone, including his father and Korra.
Korra herself had largely remained quiet. Something she wasn't really used to, but she had to admit being curious about the unknown air bender. Beyond the obvious bad blood he had with Tenzin, it seemed Naruto got along perfectly well with the rest of his family, and even the acolytes appeared happy to see him. That just made her wonder at Tenzin's warning earlier though.
The idea that Naruto was evidently headed down some sort of dark path. She struggled to see it. If anything it just seemed more like Naruto and his dad didn't get along. That was something she could relate to a bit. She'd fought with her own parents plenty, but it seemed like Naruto didn't even live at the Republic City temple with the rest of his family.
"Korra, what do you think of Republic City so far?" Naruto's voice pulled her from her thoughts and she realized everyone was looking at her expectantly.
The water tribe girl stammered briefly glancing toward Tenzin, causing Naruto to frown a little and glance at his father as well. It didn't take much to figure out what had been said between them. Naruto turned back to Korra with a slightly more subdued smile.
"Let me guess, the old man told you not to interact with me or something?" Naruto asked bluntly.
"Well, he didn't say that exactly." She replied feeling a bit put on the spot.
"Oh, don't worry Avatar Korra, I don't hold it against you at all. Actually if you can believe it he told the exact same thing to each of my little siblings too, when I moved out? Well he had to wait a few years for Meelo cause he wasn't born when I left." Naruto was all smiles but there was a hollow look in his eyes that set Korra on edge.
"I won't allow you to be a. Bad influence on them or on Korra. You are plenty welcome to return and be part of their lives, but it will be under my teachings-" Tenzin lectured stiffly only for him to be interrupted.
"Jinorah, what do these tattoos mean?" Naruto asked while tapping at the markings on his body.
"Uhm," The fifteen year old stammered briefly before clearing her throat. "They signify you as a fully fledged master with the right to advance the art of air bending and pass your teachings on to the next generation."
"That's exactly right." Naruto said shooting Tenzin a look.
The older air bending master had gone red in the face with anger. He stood to his feet and glared down at Naruto hotly.
"Those 'teachings' as you call them are nothing more than violent teenage angst channeled into bending at the whim of a selfish child going through a rebellious phase!" Tenzin shouted.
"Well maybe if our people had a little more violent teenage angst to work with when grandfather was a kid we wouldn't be the only air benders in the world!" Naruto hollered back jabbing a finger out like he was stabbing a blade at his father.
"You do not want to bring your grandfather into this argument boy!" Tenzin's growled jabbing his own finger back at the blond.
"Enough! Both of you, that is enough! Really in front of the children and a guest, the avatar no less!" Pema shouted, breaking up the fight.
Naruto deflated immediately, sinking into his seat and apologizing to his mother. The woman clutched at her swollen belly and her eyes softened as they locked with her son's. She had plenty of personal opinions about the argument but she refused to pick a side. Still her eyes flicked over to her husband with a bit of anger as he continued to stand and glare imperiously down at Naruto.
Korra was stunned. She'd never seen Tenzin like this and looking at his children now she was worried. Meelo looked frightened while both Jinorah and Ikki looked upset as well. Naruto looked upset and ashamed as well. The young avatar took in everything around her and decided right then she would find a way to try and help the family mend things.
It wasn't going to happen tonight though. She couldn't stifle the yawn that escaped her once more, making her the center of attention for the room. Thankfully both Ikki and Meelo yawned after she did. Even Jinorah did her best to snuff her own yawn out.
"It's getting late. We should all get around and ready for some sleep." Pema said. "Naruto, sweety it's too late for you to head home so I want you to stay the night. You can use your old room."
"Actually I think it's best if Korra uses that room. She will be staying there so might as well get her used to it." Tenzin said getting a scowl from Pema at his words making him grimace. He doubted he would stay in his own room tonight.
"I'll stay in one of the empty acolyte rooms, mom. It's no big deal." Naruto said with a smile sent toward her. Pema sighed and nodded.
"Just promise you will be here in the morning for breakfast." She said happy that her son nodded back.
"Alright, Ikki, Meelo time for bed, Jinorah show Korra to her room. Tenzin please clean the dishes and the table." Pema said as she strolled past her husband with her two youngest by her side.
"Of course darling." Tenzin said with a sigh as everyone left the room.
Jinorah did as she was told and led Korra to Naruto's room snatching a couple notebooks off of the desk mumbling something about leaving them there by accident. After she was gone Korra took her time looking around the room
For the most part it was barren. Practically nothing beyond the essentials and then a practical library of bending scrolls and guides. A smaller collection of spiritual texts lined a couple shelves as well. A knock at the door interrupted her browsing and she stepped up to it expecting Tenzin or maybe Jinorah or something.
Instead as she opened it the tall blond enigma she had just met earlier that night stood before her.
"Hello." He said with a smile causing her to blink owlishly for a moment before her brain caught up.
"Uh, Hi?" She replied.
"Sorry, were you about to go to sleep?" Naruto asked. He would feel a little bad for pulling her out of bed, but now that his father was busy either getting a tongue lashing from his mother or sleeping in one of the spare rooms, it was the perfect opportunity to actually meet the Avatar.
"No, nope, just looking around I guess. Not much to look at though. I guess all your stuff was moved out when you left." Korra said.
Naruto leaned forward and scanned the room. Korra moved out of the way and let him fully enter and take a good look. He hummed and ran a hand across the shelves holding his scrolls and books. With a shake of his head he turned and looked at Korra before shrugging.
"Looks exactly the same as I left it. All my stuff is here." Naruto said nonchalantly.
"What? There's nothing in here but a bed and some books." She said in shock.
"Yeah, you'll find out pretty quickly that Tenzin does not approve of anything that could be considered a distraction from training. When I was still learning to be an air bender, he usually didn't stop training till a long time after sunset. Didn't have much time to do much else in here besides sleep" Naruto explained. A bittersweet expression on his face.
"What was training with Tenzin like? Kinda wanna be prepared for it if I can be." Korra asked.
"Couldn't tell you. Thankfully his training regimen changed a lot from when he taught me." Naruto said as he started making his way back out of the room.
"Just be prepared to work hard. I'll see you at breakfast Avatar Korra." Naruto said as he left. The door swung closed behind him with air bending.
"Yeah, goodnight." Korra replied. Her words were missing by the blond just outside her room. Not because of him not hearing her but because his mind was far away, stuck in a memory.
Flashback
"Again!" A Stern voice rang out and the eleven year old climbed to his feet and took up a stance again.
The hard wooden staff lashed out almost faster than he could see and cracked loudly against his side causing him to cry out in pain and double over. The second blow he didn't see at all, he simply felt the pain on his back that dropped him to the ground.
"Again!" The same stern voice called out pulling the boy up once again.
"Naruto, the point of this exercise is to dodge blows from random directions. You aren't dodging at all." Tenzin said with a sigh.
"I know dad-" Naruto began only for a slightly lighter smack from the staff to hit his head.
"It's Master Tenzin while we are training. Now take your stance. You need to step up your work ethic if you ever want to measure up to your grandfather." Tenzin lectured.
Naruto slid into a basic air bending stance and prepared himself. However, unlike the typical open handed form he normally used, Naruto clenched his fists to try and help him suppress his anger at his father's words.
As the staff came for him, yet again he could barely see it before it impacted his should causing pain to jolt through his arm and neck. Crying out in pain he tried to twist around the next incoming strike only to take the staff to the chest and then to the back dropping him to the floor. A mix of pain and rage swirled in him causing him to climb to his feet again without being commanded and taking his stance once more. Again his hands were closed tightly into fists.
"Again!" Naruto said this time.
Tenzin hesitated. He could tell his son had become frustrated. It was understandable. He had started having to cheat on this exercise about a week ago after his son became practically untouchable. He used a little trick he had learned as a boy that let him reduce the wind resistance of the staff as he struck with it making it even faster than was naturally possible. It also caused much more severe pain but he knew Naruto could take it. His grandfather had placed his faith in Naruto's ability to surpass him and so would Tenzin.
Right now though, it was important his young son remained humble. So he prepared to strike him down for the final time of the day. As he swung though Naruto pivoted out of the way of the strike surprising Tenzin.
The air bending master was proud of his son for moment before the boy's hand lashed out and seized hold of the staff before grunting and causing the wood to splinter and crack before easily snapping in this grip. With another spin the staff was suddenly tapping at Tenzin's neck.
"Naruto!" Tenzin roared when he regained his composure at the display.
"What? I beat the exercise. Shouldn't you be smiling or something." The boy huffed out as he crossed his arms.
"Smil- Boy! You will go and meditate on why your actions were unbefitting of an air bender until I come to retrieve you. This staff was an heirloom from the Northern Air Temple!" Tenzin shouted.
Naruto seemed like he was about to apologize and do what was asked before his face hardened and he chuckled the broken piece of wood at his father's feet. He turned and began storming off, easily bending the air so that the three consecutive doors separating him from the outdoors were blasted open.
"Whatever...every twig and rock around you is some shitty heirloom." He groused as he left.
"Language! Er- I, wait till your mother hears of this!" Tenzin shouted after him.
"Oh? What is she gunna do, hit me with a stick too?" Naruto asked before air bending the doors closed with a massive slam.
End Flashback
"Naruto?" A small voice caught his attention and Naruto looked up from the point where he had been staring while in memory to find Jinorah.
"Are you okay?" She asked stepping out of her doorway and walking up to her big brother.
"Yeah. Just fine. Remembering some stuff is all. What about you? I saw you yawning back at dinner, you must be tired." Naruto said gently as he placed a hand on the girl's shoulder.
She smiled fondly up at him before wrapping him tightly in a hug. Jinorah had always had a soft spot for her big brother. For her first five years of life they had been the only kids in the house after all. Even with his training from their father he made time to play with her back then.
They only grew closer as Naruto was made her primary teacher in bending to prepare him for his trials as a master. She missed spending time with him. In the last couple of years she hadn't gotten near as much time with him as she used to. Even when he moved out they still made time together but recently it had become more and more rare.
"I just missed you is all. I wanted to spend some time with you alone and thought this might be the only chance I would get for a while." She said as she pressed her face into his chest.
The young man felt a sudden pang of guilt stab at him at her words. He remembered just the two of them. Him teaching her the basics of bending. Of hours spent together meditating to commune with spirits.
Since he and Lin had started their romantic relationship, he had come back to the island less and less. His father got on his nerves more and more due to the things Naruto knew that made him angry. It wasn't fair to his mother and siblings though. He would make a change for them.
"I'm so sorry Jin. You know how I get sometimes. All broody." He said drawing a small giggle from the girl.
" You don't need to apologize." She said, but Naruto shook his head.
"Yeah I do. You mean a lot to me. So I promise to come visit more." Naruto said as he tightened the hug.
Jinorah nodded into his chest and squeezed him back before they broke the embrace and she quickly slipped into her room.
"Goodnight." She called out as she closed the door.
"Goodnight." Naruto said before he started his own way to his temporary bed. He felt tiredness creeping up from the busy day he had. Sadly he wouldn't have Lin to curl up alongside tonight.
The next morning breakfast was a bit subdued but far livelier than dinner had been the night before. The kids chattered and bugged Korra and occasionally Naruto with all sorts of questions. Tenzin for the most part remained quiet though he did occasionally bring up that he would be meeting with the rest of the Republic City Council to set up a sort of press conference for Korra to announce her stay in the city.
Naruto also said he couldn't stay long. They didn't need Lin thinking something had happened to him and having her metal benders tear the city apart looking for him. Still Naruto made it clear he planned to come around more often making Pema and the kids extremely happy while Korra was definitely interested.
Tenzin seemed indifferent but at the conflicted look in his eyes, both Naruto and Pema knew he was happy and worried about such a thing. The fact that there was any happiness at all made Naruto pretty happy himself.
Happy enough to be whistling a tune as he took to the skies with his glider and headed home. Hopefully Lin hadn't started gathering a search party for him or something.
It didn't take long for him to reach the Beifong Manor House. It sort of stuck out in it's neighborhood. The place was a bit too ritzy even for it's neighborhood of wealthy merchants. Evidently that's what centuries of Beifong coffers and essentially revolutionizing bending did for your family though. Made them filthy rich. The only family that could really compete financially was the Sato's and Naruto kind of expected that given time the Satomobile would make the gap quite a bit larger.
Settling onto the rooftop of the manor, he groaned as the sudden metallic embrace of shackles locked around his ankles. It seemed she was in a playful mood. At least she wasn't furious. He had been worried she might be waiting to ambush him as he made his way downstairs.
Angry and playful also meant...Naruto came up with a devious little plan, one that would mess with his father's head more than anythy he could do himself.
"Should I be jealous?" Lin's voice called out as she stepped into the roof from the stairway.
"Of who? My parents?" He asked only to wince as the clamps on his feet tightened.
"Did you catch her or not?" Lin asked.
"Well, yeah, but well I dunno if you will be mad or not." Naruto began.
"Let me guess. She's staying, right?" The chief asked.
"Yeah...actually how did you know?" Naruto asked.
"It was pretty easy to guess. If she hadn't you and Tenzin would have fought and you would have come home and we would have...done our usual post Tenzin ritual." She said a faint look of lust dancing in her eyes.
"Ugh, don't say it like that. That makes it sound like he makes us horny." Naruto said grossed out.
"He just makes us angry. Being angry makes us aggressive, and we are both very horny when we are aggressive." Lin corrected as she released him from her trap.

Things went pretty much as Naruto had planned. Though, the level of anger his liver had to vent out had been severely underestimated and now both had slight limps from the night before. Still, the morning after and Lin was all smiles about messing with Tenzin's head even in this way.
Both were wearing some of their nicest clothes, well nicest robes on Naruto's part and dress uniform on Lin's. They both would be attending the press conference to be held in front of city hall in the afternoon for Korra to make her proper introduction to the city.
For some reason Lin had insisted Naruto invite Korra around Republic City to show her the city. She said that she doubted that the Avatar had gotten a chance to really see the sights while running from the police or being hauled to the island by Tenzin.
Naruto had agreed but couldn't help the odd feeling he got. Lin seemed so pushy with him taking the girl around town that it reminded him of the night he had gone to see his family and the Avatar. She still wouldn't budge when he tried to get to the bottom of it though.
The air bender pushed those thoughts from his mind as Korra stepped up to the pedestal to speak to the crowd gathered as well as over the radios that sat in practically every home in Republic City.
Immediately she was stunned by the flashes of light as cameras went off in her face. The entire crowd shouting didn't help matters and practically every reporter in the city was in attendance. Every one of them calling out questions for Korra to answer. Demanding her attention.
Even the brash and confident avatar was taken aback by the attention. She hesitated only a moment before confronting it head on. Naruto was getting a pretty good read on her personality by this point. The girl was a definite hot head. At least she was as honest as she was blunt though. Something Naruto felt Republic City could definitely benefit from.
"Uh, Yes I am definitely here to stay, I don't really have a-a plan yet…? Korra awkwardly began, though in the face of hundreds of people, Naruto had to say it was with more confidence than practically anyone else could have. It was her first time talking in front of a crowd after all.
"All I know is that Avatar Aang meant for this city to be the center for peace and balance in the world." Her tone shifted as she found her verbal footing and began to more easily give her speech.
With that the speech came to an end and the crowd slowly began to disperse. Lin stepped over to talk with the members of the council. Seeing his opportunity, Naruto stepped over to Korra and lightly tapped her shoulder to grab her attention.
"Oh, Naruto, Hi." She said, happy to see a somewhat familiar face after mobs of politicians and bureaucrats.
"Hey. I gotta say you're a natural. First time talking in front of a big crowd like that and you nailed it." He complimented.
"Thanks, I just kind of said what felt right." She said blushing slightly under his praise.
"I could tell. Honesty definitely was the best way to go. Everyone could feel you meant what you said." Naruto continued causing the girls blush to grow and her to awkwardly look away from the older boy.
"Hmm, so I was wondering, since you haven't had a chance to actually see the city yet. Maybe you would wanna check out a few of the sights with me." He offered.
The Avatar bit her lip in thought. Tenzin had pretty much ordered her not to be around Naruto, but from what she could tell he was actually pretty decent. Plus, she had such a peek at some of Jinorah's journals that had been in Naruto's room before Korra had moved in.
It was clear Naruto wasn't some angsty dark criminal like Tenzin acted like he was. The fight between the two had made an impact on Korra though and she didn't really want to be on Tenzin's bad side.
"I dunno, Naruto." Korra said while looking away.
"That's fine. It's an open offer, so feel free to look me up if you want the tour. I'm living at the Beifong Manor House with Lin. There most of the time too or sometimes working out with some of the officers at the police headquarters." Naruto began to leave only to stop and turn back for a moment.
"Oh and if you wanted to check out pro bending or something I have tickets to the match Friday night, so come by before then and we could go together." He then waved goodbye and walked off, greeting a couple people warmly as he passed by them.
"Ugh, why didn't I just say yes?" Korra moaned to herself.
"Because you were doing as I told you to. Avoid him Korra, he has lost his path." Tenzin said from behind her causing Korra to scrunch her face in frustration.
"How can you say that about your own son? Plus I'm the Avatar. Helping put people on the right path is sorta what I'm supposed to be doing. I can't do that if I avoid them." Korra said hotly before storming off.
"An ass as always Tenzin." Lin said as she brushed past him in pursuit of Naruto. It seemed both of them had a free afternoon and evening now. She wondered if he would be interested in going out for dinner. She knew a discreet little place that didn't ask questions or spread rumors.
Alright, that's chapter 2.
Like I said I planned to include more of Korra seeing Republic City and pro bending. We instead will leave that for the next chapter or two.

Question-I would love to see that it is Naruto reborn and it was Kurama that Aang bound him to, maybe have it that the first spirit that he meets is Gamakichi, who is now a sage waiting for Naruto's rebirth.
Answer- Yes I know that wasn't really a question but it gets answered anyway. I am sorry to disappoint you but it most definitely is not Kurama that Naruto is bound to, and it isn't Naruto reborn either. As far as the spirits I won't say much beyond Naruto has a very strong spiritual side, hence the title of the story. We are a little ways off from that, but we will see some pretty wild stuff regarding spirits.
Question-Is it just going to be Korra Asami and Lin, or will there be more.
Answer-Originally it was, however after a lot of feedback and consulting with so many people I can't name them all so I will simply shout out all the Zodiacs in AizenTheGoat's server, they will not be the only ones. There will in fact be two more. Two more that I refuse to reveal until they are revealed in the story.
