Heaven is Waiting
January 5th
It was almost one o'clock in the afternoon, Jacob would be home in another hour and Fay couldn't pace around her house anymore so she headed over to his house. She took her time walking through the forest but still arrived at Jacobs house before his shift was finished. She hadn't been to the small red house in so many years but it still looked all the same from the outside just a little more weathered. She knocked twice on the front door once she arrived.
"It's open!" She heard Billy call out. Fay nervously entered the house after hesitating for a second.
"Hey Billy," Fay said stepping into the house. Billy sat in his wheelchair in the first room of the house. The small living room looked just like it did when Fay had last visited and her heart ached as old memories of those times trampled through her mind. This place had always been a safe haven to her even though the harshest of times.
"Fay it's good to see you," the older man offered Fay one of his warm welcoming smiles.
"I hope you don't mind me dropping in. I was hoping to speak with Jacob as soon as his shift was over." Fay said hovering in the doorway.
"Of course. Sam called and told me Jake would be coming home tonight." Fay blushed wondering just how much Sam had told Billy. "Please take a seat I'm sure Jake will be home soon." Billy gestured for her to take a seat on the lounge across from him.
"I guess you would be happy to have him home. It must get lonely around here without him."
"It wasn't too bad. Always good to have some alone time. Emily has been bringing me more food then I can eat so that was nice; not having to cook or suffer with Jake's cooking. I swear that boy could burn water." Billy laughed and Fay offered him a smile.
"I secretly think Emily is on a mission to feed the whole of La Push," Fay said and the older man nodded his head in agreement.
"You won't catch me complaining. This morning she brought me-" Billy was cut off by the sound of the house phone running but he made no move to answer it. "That will be Bella, she keeps calling for updates on Jake."
"Updates?" Fay asked, confused what Billy meant.
"As far as she knows he's sick, that's why they can't see each other."
"Oh, of course. Hopefully she gets the hint soon."
"I hope so, I'm sick of that noise." Billy said before changing the subject to the apple muffins Emily's brought him this morning. They talked for five more minutes until the phone rang again.
"Why not just unplug it?" Fay asked. Billy let out a chuckle.
"Don't worry I've thought of that. Might even change the phone number if she keeps it up. Especially now Jacob is coming home he's sure to want to talk to her."
"Just say it's telemarketers I'm sure he won't want to talk to them." Fay smiled warmly at the older man.
"I'll keep that in mind." Fay had yet to meet Bella in person and she hoped she would never have to. From what she had seen in the other guys thoughts about the vampire lover Bella was not someone Fay would get along with. Add in the fact that Jacob clearly had some type of bond with Bella only made Fay's dislike her more.
...
As soon as the clock hit 2pm Fay excused herself from the house and waited outside for Jacob. She waited on the back steps of the small red home watching the forest that surrounded the house. She could hear his footsteps jogging in her direction from the left side of the house a few seconds before he exited the forest. Fay felt a knot forming in her stomach at the sight of him. It had only been a few hours since they last saw each other but that felt like too long. He walked towards Fay slowly his eyes locked on hers.
"We need to talk," Fay said swallowing the lump in her through. Jacob nodded his head looking at the house questionably. Fay knew what he was thinking and she too did not want to discuss this in ear shot of Billy.
"We can talk in the shed," Jacob said offering Fay his hand. She took his hand before her mind even registered it. The contact sent shivers thought Fay and she let go of a breath she didn't realise she was holding. Jacob lead Fay across the backyard to the old metal shed that held his car and tools. As they entered the shed Jacob flicked a switch turning on a few lights.
"You actually finished it?" Fay said looking at the fully intact car that took up most of the shed. The Rabbit had only been a frame when she had last seen it. Now it looked fit enough to hit the highway.
"Yeah," Jacob grinned proudly. "It runs great. I'll take you for a drive sometime, you'll love it." Fay took her hand out of Jacob's to get a better look at the car and also to put some distance between them. She needed a clean mind to speak with him and the tingling effect his touch had on her would not help. Fay circled the car slowly looking over it as though she was taking in every detail. All while she mentally tired to pice together what to say.
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you about the imprint sooner," Fay sighed not meeting his eyes.
"Don't feel sorry, you did what you thought was right."
"Just because I think something is right doesn't mean it is."
"I'm not upset with you Fay. If that's what you're thinking." Jacob reached out to placed his hand on Fay's shoulder. A shiver ran down her spin and Jacob laughed softly catching Fay's attention. "You feel it too," he whispered with a wide smile. She turned around to face him, his hand still on her.
"Of course," she smiled.
"I couldn't work out what it was but it makes sense now, I guess. As much sense as any of this wolf stuff makes." His hand slipped around to the back of her neck and Fay continued the motion by stepping forward and pressing her lips to his. The kiss was slow and savouring. Fay was the one to end the kiss after several minutes had passed. She didn't step back from him though. Her head rested perfectly in the nock of his neck and their arms were locked around one another.
"No offence Jacob but I really need to get some sleep before my shift tonight. If I don't leave now I don't think I'll be able to get away from you."
"Didn't you sleep this morning?" Jacob asked. He cupped her chin tilting her face up so he could see the dark bags under her eyes.
"I couldn't. I kept thinking you would be made at me for not telling you about the imprint," Fay said nervously looking away from him.
"Fay you need sleep. You were up all night and morning." Jacob's tone wasn't scolding, more so worried.
"I'll be fine. I'll just go to Sam's and get a few hours sleep their it's closer then home so I'll still get at least four hours before next shift."
"You can just stay here I don't need too sleep so my beds free." Jacob offered.
"Thanks Jacob but no. Sam wanted you moved back home to keep some distance between us me sleeping here will go against that."
"He just didn't want us being alone together don't worry I got eight hours of being told everything Sam was thinking."
"Yeah I know, sorry about him. I still think it's better if I just go stay at Sam's. I'll see you tomorrow okay?"
"Okay."
"Go spend some time with your dad and get some rest," Fay placed a quick kiss on the corner of Jacob's lips before moving fully away from him. Fay was turning and jogging into the forest before Jacob could say anything else. If Fay had known then that she would not see Jacob tomorrow she would have stayed a little longer. Sleep was optional anyways.
# Author Notes
So after working away from home for nine months on a job I loved even though it stressed me the hell out, and spending the last three months depressed that the job finished. I am finally doing some writing again. Sorry to leave you guys hanging all the time. This story does have an ending and it will be posted one day and I hope you guys stick around for the ride. I've plotted out the next few chapters so hopefully I will post again soon.
Until then please check out my other stories, reviews help a lot as well knowing people are still reading. Every-time I get a review or follow I go back over the story and add more and more to my dot points until everything adds up and makes a full chapter.
