***So...back in the aftermath of season three whenever all of us fans found out that Nathan had fathered James Cogan...it literally gave me an idea to come up with a multi-chapter story detailing of what if Audrey and Nathan were to have another baby boy. I wanted to set it in season four so that all of the details make sense regarding the AU timeline of when this second child was conceived...meaning the conception takes place approximately four or five months into Audrey and Nathan's newly formed relationship.***

**Just in case you're wondering...the start of this story takes place on Valentine's Day**

Without further ado...I give you guys A Valentine's Day Surprise (The Story of Shylo James Wournos) ...please enjoy

Chapter 1: Roses Are Red...Violets Are Blue...I have a surprise for you, Nathan

Audrey Parker glances patiently and anxiously down at the stick that was resting ontop of her bathroom sink as she waits for the test to reveal its answer to her, by each passing moment the anxiety level rises as she awaits the results of a pregnancy test she had acquired from Duke in order to avoid the town gossip making its way towards Nathan.

'It is not like I am embarrassed about buying a pregnancy test or anything...it is just I don't want to risk having the town blabbing towards Nathan about the possibility of me being pregnant before I have a chance to tell him myself.' Audrey thought, still glancing at the unchanging stick as she also kept track of the time on her watch for when Nathan was set to pick her up for work at the station.

'...and besides...Duke practically offered to buy the test for me after he witnessed my puking episode followed by my fainting episode all in one day and he only suggested I take a pregnancy test after I had explained that I had been feeling this way for the past few days...' Audrey added, as she proceeded to finish up her make up for the day while glancing down periodically at the pregnancy test.

Finally, just as she is holstering her weapon at her hip along with her badge and finishing up with writing in the Valentine's Day card she had bought two days ago for Nathan, she glanced down for the last time to see the screen change to a plus sign and practically almost fainted on the spot.

Pregnant. Audrey Parker was for real pregnant with Nathan Wournos's baby and she couldn't be happier and simply couldn't wait to tell Nathan the news right away before she lost her nerve. She automatically knew that Nathan was going to be excited about this news and she couldn't wait to see the look on his face when she told him.

An idea quickly sparks to mind as she proceeds to put the card into the envelope and scrawls down something quickly before placing the card and the stick into the envelope as she seals it up, placing a kiss to the envelope before hiding it somewhere in her work bag just as she hear the familar knock of Nathan's hand against the wood of her french door and smiled as she grabbed the bag and made her way to her front door.

Audrey opens her front door to meet the familar sea blue eyes of her partner slash boyfriend staring back at her with a goofy grin that she couldn't help but lay a kiss on his lips before pulling back to see the stunned but pleased expression on his face as he pulls her close to him.

"Ready to go to work...Parker?" Nathan asked, a smile forming on his face as he pressed a kiss to her lips.

"Definitely. Do you know what today is?" Audrey replied, as they broke apart and proceeded to head in the direction of Nathan's blue Bronco with their hands linked together.

"Yes...and I left your gifts sitting on top of your desk before I came to pick you up...one of them is too big to carry around and let's just say that I don't want to risk smashing your favorite baked goods." Nathan replied, with a loving smile forming on his face as he watched hers changed to excitement.

"By baked goods...do you mean my beloved Rosemary's cupcakes?" Audrey asked, suddenly wanting a cupcake that very moment.

"Yes..." Nathan replied, the smile growing wider as hers starts beaming even more as she jumps up at him into his waiting arms as she planted a series of kisses on his mouth.

"Thank you" kiss "You" kiss "Are" kiss "The" kiss "Best" kiss "Boyfriend" kiss "That" kiss "A" kiss "Girl" kiss "Could" kiss "Ask" kiss "For"

"Whoa...somebody's happier than usual this Valentine's Day morning...anything I should know about Parker?" Nathan asked, feigning suspicion once they had broken apart for the final time before Nathan opened the passenger door and stepped back to allow Audrey to climb inside.

"That is for me to know and for you to find out...trust me you will find out soon." Audrey stated, giving him a wink as she allowed him to close the door once she was situated on the bench.

"Okay...now I can't wait to find out..." Nathan replied, with a happy smile on his face as he made his way over to the driver's side.

"I promise you that you're gonna like it, Nathan." Audrey replied, a beaming smile on her face as he turned on the ignition and prepared to pull out of The Grey Gull parking lot and gave a return wave towards Duke who was outside preparing for the brunch crowd that was sure to arrive soon.

Nathan gave Audrey one last glance as he set the truck off to drive the way to the station and watched as she gave him the brightest smile that she had ever given him in the months that they had started being a couple.

Yes, he really couldn't wait to hear the news she has to tell him because he knows he will automatically be happy.

-Haven-

As soon as they walked into the station, their eyes immediately were assualted by the assorted Valentine's decorations that had adorned the inside of the station as they made their way over to the office that they both shared as partners while Nathan stayed behind to get them some coffee.

Audrey opened their door and quickly made her way over to Nathan's desk where she carefully dug the red envelope out of her bag and gently set it down ontop of a set of files that were resting there, it was then that she looked over to her desk where she saw a dozen roses and a dozen cupcakes laying on her desk. Placing the envelope down, she quickly went over to inspect the roses and cupcakes and noticed that there was a medium sized stuffed bear sitting in her chair. She smiled fondly as she gingerly picked up the bear and sat down while hugging it to her chest and looked down in their direction of her stomach.

"I hope your daddy likes our gift...baby." Audrey quietly whispered, in a tone where only she could hear as she saw Nathan approaching with two mugs of freshly brewed coffee.

Nathan quickly walked into their office with a mug in each hand as he closed the door shut with the back of his heel and carefully placed her mug down while looking at her clutching the brown teddy bear, and smiled as she thanked him with a gracious smile.

"The teddy bear is a bit much...I know...considering the fact that we haven't been together for that long." Nathan stated, awkwardly as he took a seat at his desk before looking down at the red envelope that read for the quiet and gentlest man in Haven, Nathan across the front in her beautiful handwriting.

"It's okay Nathan...actually...I think this teddy bear reminds me greatly of you...how sweet and gentle you can be towards the ones you love..." Audrey replied, tearing up a little as she watched him smile as he looked down at the envelope and proceeded to open it.

Nathan carefully pulled out the card and looked at the front for a while before opening it and hearing something drop briefly from inside the card, he looked at the card as he absentmindly picked up what had dropped onto his desk and read what she had written.

She watched his face curiously as it changed from a curious expression to shocked and all the way to happiness as she watched him looked down to what he was holding in his hands, watching his eyes tear up at the still visible plus sign being shown on the stick.

"Nathan...I'm pregnant...you're going to be a daddy again." Audrey replied, watching as his eyes lift from the stick to her eyes as he hoped that she wasn't lying.

"We're having a baby?" Nathan asked, getting up from his desk to gather her up in his arms and spin her around.

Audrey squealed as she was lifted in the air into his arms and his lips were pressed onto hers as he held her to him until she started making noises of protest.

"Nathan...I love you and I usually love it when you do this but it is making me a little woozy right now...so please put me down before I hurl my breakfast all over your um nice henley...that is my favorite henley of yours." Audrey replied, trying not to puke as his movement caused her stomach to lurch slightly.

"Sorry...sorry...I...ah..I didn't hurt the baby did I..." Nathan replied, suddenly worried as he checked her over for any possible injuries as soon as he set her down gently on her feet.

"No...no...you didn't hurt the baby...it is just I am suddenly feeling the normal bouts of nausea that goes along with morning sickness..." Audrey replied, running a hand through her brown curls as she felt Nathan set her down and she braced her arm to her stomach before taking a seat back down into her chair.

"Are you sure you're okay to work today...because I can cover for you if you need me to." Nathan offered, placing his hands atop her shoulders as he began to gently massage the knots that were surely there.

"Nathan...do you remember the last time I took a day off...the day literally repeated itself over and over again...I don't have the strength to go through all of that again...not to mention seeing you die in the middle of the street after getting impaled by a piece of wood..." Audrey replied, her voice faltering a little at the horrible memory of seeing Nathan fade away in front of her eyes.

'Yeah...that is something that I will never get over seeing for as long as I live...' Audrey thought, mentally shuddering at the image before relaxing slightly at the feel of Nathan's hands kneading the tension out of her shoulders.

"Shh...you saved me that day like you always have and always will...just like you did when the bolt gun killer attacked me..." Nathan replied, rubbing her shoulder as he pressed a kiss to the side of her neck.

"...and another memory I could do without...I almost lost you that day and it made me realize that I needed to stop pushing you away and how much I was in love with you and how my life isn't complete without you in it...I just couldn't believe that I was going through losing you for the second time. I'm madly in love with you Nathan...so much so that if anyone tried to hurt you...I would kill them." Audrey stated, not realising that she has started crying until she feels Nathan pull her close to him as his hand calmly runs up and down her back until he could feel her start to calm down.

'Fucking hormones...thank god I chose not to wear mascara today...even though I know from experiance that Nathan loves it when I put on the mascara...' Audrey thought, mentally smiling as she starts to remember what occurred one particular evening that went from him pressing her up against his front door to being tangled in his sheets.

"Why are you smiling...Audrey?" Nathan asked, a smile mirroring hers as he felt the curve of her lips curl up.

"Just thinking about that first time we had sex at your house...you know when I put on that smoky mascara you like so much." Audrey replied, wiping away tears as she sniffed a bit.

"Well...that isn't the first time you've woken up the morning after with me with makeup still on..." Nathan replied, a mischievous glint in his eyes as he looked at her.

"Well...you did have me preoccupied that night..." Audrey replied, letting out a giggle as she positioned herself on Nathan's lap.

"And then Vince almost caught us..." Nathan replied, wrapping his arms around her as she placed her head against his chest.

"If Vince hadn't interrupted us that morning...I would have requested that you do a repeat of the night before...I mean...you do have a way with your hands and tongue..." Audrey replied, grinning wickedly as she watched a blush crawl it's way from his face to his neck as he shifted uncomfortably at her words.

"If I could feel right now...I would definitely be feeling the raging hard on that you just caused right now with your suggestive words and phrasing..." Nathan replied, with a chuckle as she fluttered her eyes at him.

"Well...you may not feel your arousal...but I certainly do...and it is currently poking into my stomach." Audrey replied, giving him a smirk as he tried to move her off his lap but couldn't bring himself to remove her.

"We should start working before someone walks in on us and catches us doing something that wouldn't be deemed professionable of two respected partners who protect the troubled." Nathan replied, removing his hands from her hips as she stood up from her position from sitting on top of his lap to take his outstretched hand in order to help him up.

"Nathan...I think our coworkers already know that we've been sleeping with each other for months...but I don't think we want them knowing about this little guy just yet...so hide the stick." Audrey replied, sweetly as she subtlely gestured to her stomach so only Nathan could see it.

"Fair point...I'll just put it away where no one will find it..." Nathan stated, making his way over to his desk where he grabbed the stick and hid it in one of the drawers before taking a seat and getting started on a stack of paperwork.

"Wait...you're keeping it?" Audrey asked, a curious smile on her face as her hand opened the box of red velvet cupcakes and grabbed one.

"Yeah...why wouldn't I keep proof that we're expecting another kid as a memento to remember the day that the love of my life told me that she was having my baby." Nathan replied, giving Audrey a smile as Audrey tried her best not to cry at his words.

"You're too sweet to me...Nathan. Really...you are about ready to make my hormones to go amok with your sweetness. You're such a sweet man...Nathan Wournos. How did I come to fall in love with such a wonderful man like you and become pregnant with your child?" Audrey asked, leaning back into her chair to rest her hand on her flat stomach before smiling at him.

"Maybe because it was fate for us to meet and fall in love with each other like we did and also because due to me being able to only feel you...we have silently agreed for me not to use condoms everytime we have sex. What do you believe?" Nathan asked, smiling a bit when his eyes landed on her stomach where their unborn baby was currently spending it's time growing.

"Silently?" Audrey replied, playfully arching her eyebrow up at him as he gave her a boyish grin.

"Do I need to remind you of that time that we tried using a condom in the early weeks of us being a couple and how I had trouble feeling in that area to a point where you made me pull out and take it off before plunging back in again..." Nathan trailed off, watching as Audrey's blue eyes darken a bit at the mentioning of that time.

"Oh god...now I'm starting to get turned on...we should...ah...we should really start working right now..." Audrey stammered, as Nathan chuckled while watching her cross her legs.

Upon hearing Nathan's chuckle, Audrey glances up to give Nathan a look before putting her attention towards the paperwork that was near her as she took a bite out of the cupcake and sighed at the sweet sugary taste of the red velvet cupcake.

The both busied themself for a while until they were startled by the sound of someone familar at their doorway, two people to be exact, they both looked up to meet the eyes of both Vince and Dave Teagues staring back at them with what looked like Valentine's Day gifts in their hands.

"Well..that is an awful lot of valentine's day gifts to give a young lady..." Vince replied, cheerfully as he glanced over to the flowers and other gifts on Audrey's desk.

"And that is an awfully big bear you got there Audrey...it seems that Nathan really outdid himself." Dave replied, smiling as he glanced over at the huge stuffed teddy bear resting by the paperwork Audrey was currently working on along with the half-eaten cupcake being held in her hand as the pen moved in her other hand.

Nathan and Audrey both look up to meet Vince and Dave with matching smiles on their faces as the brothers made their way inside the office.

'I wonder what Vince and Dave want on this fine Valentine's Day morning...' Audrey thought, putting down the pen she had in her hand while still holding the cupcake.

Time for them to find out.

***There were so many ways I wanted to end this chapter but I thought that ending it with a surprise visit from the brother's Teagues would be a more interesting way to end it as I definitely did plan on starting chapter two with the continuation of the end scene and them explaining their prescence and figuring out rather than discovering that Audrey and Nathan are expecting a child in eight months...by way of Audrey's reaction to Nathan's scent of the month gift from the Teagues as I remembered her initial reaction to not liking the smell of the scents and thought to myself "What if instead of cringing at the smell...she ended up becoming nauseous and proceeds to throw up in her trash can with Nathan immediately coming to her aide by rubbing her back in a soothing manner as well as holding her hair back from her face?"***
